We need Simon for another 100 more years to educate us about motogp techs which are well kept secrets to the outside world. Man this guy is so good and passionate in explaining things, love him
Amazing how he can explain everything so simple, so enthusiastic and also in one shot... No cuts, from start to finish entertaining, informative, and with passion... Amazing all the tech talks, all of these elements are taken for granted, but the technology and research required is top.
I love this series, simon you are an invaluable resource to someone like me who loves motogp but doesn't ride. Thank you for being so frank and concise with every topic, thank you and your accent. Wonderful.
I have been binging your videos. Wish I had seen them before. Keep up the great work. You allow to see moto racing / MotoGP behind the mirrored glass. Thank you 👍
Really enjoyed that, as someone who had plain leather race gloves once upon a time. Remarkable how far things have come. Also, had no idea Simon was such a fit bastard! Looking forward to more of these Simon
Not a MotoGP fan, much prefer BSB, WSBK and roads, but this guy, I could watch and listen to all day. For what he doesn't have in presentational polish, he makes up for 100 times in enthusiasm and knowledge. You almost feel he has sneaked into the paddock and dragged a cameraman with him, it's brilliant.
Hearing how old suits were, I feel pretty blessed even having my older generation suit. Its perfectly comfortable on the bike, yet also almost perfect off the bike too. Very mildly tight front but I can walk around just fine, hump isn't great for seats (I doubt they ever will be), but otherwise I could wear it all day. Boots are notably older with the bracing on the outside, squeak and not great to walk in, but all of the safety considerations mentioned are also there for me. Gloves have been tested in a 90mph highside onto my palm, the smallest scuff and I didn't even get a bruise. It sounds like I really take gear improvements for granted.
SC's Tech Talks are great, have learned so much- has improved my own bike set-up, which is sound. My crew chief (I can pretend, kind of) is a racing hero. Have also learned that Simon 'Cray-far' is 'in fict' ''Cray'fer" 'pir min himsilf'. Look forward to more from the legend, Kia koa.
My Z Custom ventilated jacket was among the first to have the arms pre-curved, and at the time I didn't get why. After almost 20 years (and two renovations) later, I still love it. That's also when pre-curved gloves first began to be available. So some racing technology does reach us street riders. I just hope airbag jackets become more affordable!
Great video and loved how Simon explained things from his professional-rider perspective! If Alpinestars is reading, I have a question regarding Marquez's crash as depicted in the video (question below): * I've rewatched many times the crash and it seems Marquez broke his humerus upon the front tire slamming his right upper arm (the impact was enough to actually launched him further so it was a massive hit). It seems to me as though the airbag doesn't reach down that far down to the upper arm where the impact occurred. Could Alpinestars confirm if the airbag did actually shield the front tire impact? And Is there any reason the airbags for not shielding the upper arms (fully down to elbow)? It looks to me like Marquez's hit was bad luck and on the right spot where there was no airbag or armor shielding. Many thanks for any replies!
It's amazing how we can watch someone with a face mask on and we no longer even seem to notice, it just looks so natural now. Great talk btw, especially loved the boot 'insert'.
Thanks Simon. I enjoyed that, as I have always found the evolution of engineering and technology interesting. Doesn't disappoint. Kiorra Kiwi brother from down under, or just across the pond of ya. Live long and prosper, Simon Krafar. Thanks for the racin years too bud.
Thanks for the great video. I was hoping you would tell us what the little red and green LED flashing lights are on most of the forearms of the leathers we see when the cameras focus on the riders in their respective pit boxes??
absolutely love the content and Simon. Thank you MOTOGP.
I love motogp, but love this series more! Crafar is a legend
We need Simon for another 100 more years to educate us about motogp techs which are well kept secrets to the outside world. Man this guy is so good and passionate in explaining things, love him
Simon understainds so much of his trade, and yet, can explain very well everything presented to the most clueless tech person.
"can explain very well" I'm not so sure about that. He's a top nice bloke but his communication skills are not so polished.
@@lemonjellies4985 Simon isn't a dylan grey but he's doing so much better every weekend.
Love these talks, interesting to learn about the differences between the riders too 😁
Loveeee this Tech Talks, Thank You Simon .... 😃
It's always a pleasure to see and listen to Simon Crafar :-) Thank you dude :-)
Thanks Simon! This is what we want as a MotoGP fan 😁

Absolutely brilliant Simon! Hope this series continues on, and it keeps getting better and better!
Awesome tech talk again Simon!
Would love a tour of the Alpinestars truck and everything they bring to support their riders for a race weekend.
SImon the best ! He prepares so well and explains it in a easily understandable way

Great stuff, Simon! Can't wait for the next one. Cheers
Simon is a good racer and a better reporter. With Simon
That was *really* interesting, thanks!

One of my fav tech talk!!! 🔝
I didn't know they used the Tech Air 5 also on track. I assumed they all used the Race version, which is more integrated. Great video as always.
WOWWW Its just great to hear from somone that wears himself, has seen the progress. JUST AMAZING SIMON!! 😊😊😊

good that they are adding more Simon Crafar on these You Tube videos. Actually learn something important.
That was so interesting! Thanks for sharing all this. It's amazing how much technology and knowledge is packed into those beautifully crafted suits.

looks fucking stupid. NO NEED... hes by himself FFS
@@mranonymous9355 Sorry. Didn't realise he was filming himself and that the doors were all locked thereby preventing someone coming in.
@@johnforensicman6179 does he wear a codon to Jeremy off too? Lol

Awesome video. More of these, please.
I would listen this guy for hours ..
Nice video Simon, thank you for sharing.
Holy smokes, airbags in the suits? Had no idea! That's epic

They are the control panels for the airbags in the rider's suits. Showing they are on, battery level, etc.
That was a awesome talk!!
GREAT VIDEO SIMON. ALOT A GOOD STUFF. VERY WELL EXPLAINED. 👍
