    10:25 reminds me of Corning's "vermillion" technology for sunglasses. The theory is that daylight is very blue, and when a reddish tint, or coating is applied to the lens, it increases not only contrast but chromatic definition. I had one of those glasses, and it is quite interesting; once you put it on things look quite pinkish, or magenta, but in minutes your brain ajusts, and things look incredibly clear. Then, after some time, when you remove the glasses, the world looks flat and blue.

      Ski goggle manufacturers have been using that tech since the '70s. My favorite lens were rose colored. The best in my opinion is polarized.

      Oakley prizm lens use this technology. I use either prizm road or prizm golf whilst riding/driving on the road. With either lens, makes all of the colours "pop" e.g. reds look brighter.

    Great video Simon, thank you! Having cracked my skull before and broken two helmets in accidents, I now closely follow advancements. Helmets such as 6D, Fly Formula (dirt only for now) and to a degree MIPS equipped helmets, are now managing impacts better than the traditional EPS (foam) liner. Concussion research from other sports such as American Football are driving advancements in impact management and leading to better performing helmets for all of us.

    The rose tint in visors is for blocking out blue light. All aviation pilots wear blue blocker glasses because when you remove excess blue light the contrast of the other colours goes up. For this reason eagles also have a rose tinted eyelid to help spotting prey.
    Blue blocker sunglasses also work well in marine environments....where there is excess blue light from both the sky and sea.

    • @ThePlatonius
      @ThePlatonius 4 года назад +18

      Carbon fiber would be super awesome for weight gain, but pure carbon fiber would shatter into millions of pieces with an impact. Its strong but brittle. there are carbon fiber helmets, but I don't know what mix of compounds are used to make them safe and if they are safe enough for moto gp

    • @jeeewhyyypheee

      AGV Pista GP/GP-R/GP-RR actually made of carbon, but the mixture of resin and fibre are more dominant

    • @adrians7087
      @adrians7087 4 года назад +10

      Correct me if I am wrong, most of Japan Brand still using fiber glass in concern to pass SNELL standards, and one of their concern was about certain weight. Most of helmet brands who are using carbon fiber having a purpose to serve the lightest helmet, which that part cannot make them to pas the SNELL. Yes you can still using carbon fiber to reach the SNELL but you will need more carbon fiber layer parts to reach the minimum weight. The result? Take a look at arai rx7v/rx7x Carbon, the price is so high even might be almost 3 times than agv pista GP RR which is also using carbon fiber. So that is depend on the brand manufacturer standards and concerns. In the end, brand like arai still concern with total safety rather than reach the latest trend model or be the lightest one. Take a look that brand like arai from time to time the shape still looks round and round and have important aim like what simon crafar explain in this video
