I'm gonna sound awful here, but there is a trend of people coming over from Eastern Europe, and simply not understanding basic manners when it comes to respect for other countries, people in uniform or animals. I cringe everytime I see them and they insist on holding the reins, annoying the guards and making a joke of it. These are dedicated armoured cavalry soldiers that fight on the front line in various countries, and yeah maybe even yours.

I am old enough to remember the specific incident at Buckingham Palace which was the final straw. A female American tourist had got as close as possible to the guard on duty and did not get out of his way as he started his obligatory march . She was naturally pushed aside and claimed to have been injured. She created the most enormous fuss in the press and I think ( but cannot be sure) that the USA Embassy got involved. Very shortly after this the guards were moved to their current positions . And that created a fuss too with many of us having steam coming out of our ears at the idea that an ignorant foreigner had caused a change in our traditions.
