I beg to differ and the word is 'of' not off. Many of my family served in the police force, and I can assure you the sights they had to deal with were grim. My father used to come home smelling of the mortuary many times! Incidentally he was a Grenadiar guard on duty at Buckingham Palace many years ago.
No respect for the guards and there mount they should put those black poles up you can't get any closer. Or put a white line there 6ft away from horse.
They should not allow so many people to cluster round these magnificent working horses and soldiers. I understand their interest, but respect these horses and do not treat their time on duty as a joke.
There is no respect shown to these Guards and their horses. The crowds are ridiculous and there should be more control used. These soldiers should be congratulated for their patience with such ignorant people.
Many years ago the Guards mounted guard outside the gates at Buckingham Palace ( in the 1940s/50s) the crowds became such a nuisance ( in particular "Hollywood Stars" etc) that eventually the whole Guard mount was moved to behind the railings I`m afraid this will eventually be forced upon Horse Guards
My late father was a Grenadiar guard in the late nineteen twenties. He guarded Buckingham Palace, and Edward, who later abdicated, often told the guards to 'stand at ease' , after his many comings and goings! My father was on Trooping the Colour and for a time at the Tower of London. He then served five years in North Africa in the War,, missing most of my young childhood. Finally he served thirty years on the police force. He would have hated these tourists!
I am old enough to remember the specific incident at Buckingham Palace which was the final straw. A female American tourist had got as close as possible to the guard on duty and did not get out of his way as he started his obligatory march . She was naturally pushed aside and claimed to have been injured. She created the most enormous fuss in the press and I think ( but cannot be sure) that the USA Embassy got involved. Very shortly after this the guards were moved to their current positions . And that created a fuss too with many of us having steam coming out of our ears at the idea that an ignorant foreigner had caused a change in our traditions.
@@margaretoconnor3687 I wont call them ignorant but a small minority of foreigners are changing our society by this tactic. They are supported by again a minority of predominantly white middle class liberals in the establishment. Most of these individuals are despised by their own community.

The police officers speak without authority - I'm shocked, but perhaps this is part of their training. I didn't know that "leave, move away from the horses" was a suggestion. Besides, a group this size is blocking the sidewalk.

I can understand if your a tourist wanting a photo and if you stand away from the guard and horse but it's the idiots that get to close and if I ever saw someone hit the horse well they might regret it
I know these horses and their guards are well-trained, but it must be very difficult for the horse to stand in one spot for an hour and also not react to all the commotion.
Nowhere in the world would they allow their soliders or horses be treated like some cheep sideshow only in Britain my God how far we have gone down in our ways zero respect for anything we just let these foreigners walk all over our dignity and culture its just so sad.
Unmannered people... No respect for people and animals In this case The Royal House and soldiers guarding with horses This is their job!! It is not a zoo or children's farm !!! These pushy tourists are so disrespectful..
The disrespect shown to them is upsetting to me. The guards are not a side show/petting zoo for the visitors. The horses and guards should be outfitted in full "battle rattle" once in awhile and maybe people will show more respect.
if member of public hits or abuses horse or Guards the side of the sword striking wrist with verbal warning to put the fear of God in them, with a verbal next time it will be edge of sword removing hand you'll feel.
They're going to just have to not allow people to take pictures no more. Somebody's going to get hurt! They can't be respectful and use caution around the horses, then make them stop taking pictures.
Once they get their picture, why do they not move on? Why do they hang around? What are they waiting for? I think the police should be moving them along.
People say to put a fence around them. Not a solution, these horses need to be able to move out if needed. Maybe put a “photo” spot on the wall would help. And a sign that tells people to stay away from and no touching, period! Would help?
Why do they just stand and stare? Sorry to have to say this but those armed protection police don't seem to be doing much protecting. That thing that slapped the horse should have at least been spoken to .The whole group of them looked shifty.
You think? I mean really? You believe that those heavily armed police are 'not doing much'? they do not NEED to be raising voices and making a scene. A quite word is all that is needed. This is the UK not the USA. If there was a real issue there is a red button on the gatepost at mounted height and if that is pressed watch the armed guards move.
@@dianapeek6936 Not quite. These armed guards are just a few feet away around Horse Guards. See that red button on the wall by the mounted guard? Within seconds those armed Police would be there. And at THAT point they wouldn't be issuing 'quiet words' either.

I noticed her again too! The whole group gives bad vibes. I wonder if they are locals or if this video is old and from the same day
@@dawnsherratt2317 It’s the same day / incident from 2 weeks ago. They’re speaking Spanish, according to various viewers.
@@theplaneimage ahhhh thank you I was thinking she was back for another go at the horse
Little rug-rat.
Ahh yes, the Guard should have told her" don't touch my horse" I'd have told her if I'd been there 😤😤
That guard sounded like someone who is totally fed up with the tourists for that day
Bring back the days when the cavalry rode into town and skewered the peasants
😂😂😂
Hundreds of pointless people
I agree !
Love your comment. Sadly it is needed.
The police just stand around talking all the time. The only time they do their job is when it's the changing off the guard
I beg to differ and the word is 'of' not off. Many of my family served in the police force, and I can assure you the sights they had to deal with were grim. My father used to come home smelling of the mortuary many times!
Incidentally he was a Grenadiar guard on duty at Buckingham Palace many years ago.
Why are they not moved right away ??!!that girl in the white jacket is disrespectful and Trouble, why?? are they allowed to to come back!!
I love the horse's chin whiskers..xx It makes me chuckle seeing the horse is so relaxed he's dozing..
One of my favourites too and the ones with the hairy chin chins seem to be the most sociable too!
I'm glad they don't shave horses' whiskers off like is done in many horse shows. Those are sensory organs that the horse needs.
Talk about being crowded out.
'Joined up to be a squaddie, not a photo op model, ffks!'.
No respect for the guards and there mount they should put those black poles up you can't get any closer. Or put a white line there 6ft away from horse.
They should not allow so many people to cluster round these magnificent working horses and soldiers. I understand their interest, but respect these horses and do not treat their time on duty as a joke.
THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE AROUND THESE POOR GUARDS AND THESE POOR HORSES 😡😡
Not even an acknowledgement to the serving soldier ..such disrespect to horse and soldier. Makes me so angry.
There is no respect shown to these Guards and their horses. The crowds are ridiculous and there should be more control used. These soldiers should be congratulated for their patience with such ignorant people.
Many years ago the Guards mounted guard outside the gates at Buckingham Palace ( in the 1940s/50s) the crowds became such a nuisance ( in particular "Hollywood Stars" etc) that eventually the whole Guard mount was moved to behind the railings
I`m afraid this will eventually be forced upon Horse Guards
My late father was a Grenadiar guard in the late nineteen twenties. He guarded Buckingham Palace, and Edward, who later abdicated, often told the guards to 'stand at ease' , after his many comings and goings!
My father was on Trooping the Colour and for a time at the Tower of London. He then served five years in North Africa in the War,, missing most of my young childhood.
Finally he served thirty years on the police force.
He would have hated these tourists!
@@pathopewell1814 Not hard to see why. It appears self discipline and respect are a dying art in most foreign countries not just the UK.
I hope you at right.
@@margaretoconnor3687 I wont call them ignorant but a small minority of foreigners are changing our society by this tactic. They are supported by again a minority of predominantly white middle class liberals in the establishment. Most of these individuals are despised by their own community.
As a policeman I would not turn my back on the crowd.
The guard should have let the horse and his sword take care of it
I don’t think the public should be allowed anywhere near the horses or the guards
I so agree. It is so upsetting seeing these nasty tourists going up and touching the reins and the horses. They should be kept far away.
I lv this horse w/ the white face he is beautiful & so expressive ❤️
it’s incredible for animals that are born to run having such training & patience to stand for so long dealing w/ rude disrespectful people🤨
We have reached the point of a snakes belly is of higher regard than the tourists of the world. No regard for a working Guard and his beautiful Steed. That horse has much more common sense than humans. Thank you to the Guard and his horse for their service.
Glad I live in the countryside…where the horses trot round the lanes and graze in the fields.
These police should be telling them to move,,,been standing crowded too long,,no need standing there
The police officers speak without authority - I'm shocked, but perhaps this is part of their training. I didn't know that "leave, move away from the horses" was a suggestion. Besides, a group this size is blocking the sidewalk.
British police are entirely different from US police. They are trained better, without aggression everytime they speak.
@@dianeleitch7049 So you've had encounters with American police? Speaking from personal experience?
The Border guards when you land at a US Airport are enough to make one turn round and get back on the plane. What a bundle of fun they are. NOT.
@@dianapeek6936 My last dealings with an authoritarian Border Guard at Boston Airport confirmed my intention never to go back and endure that BS ever again.
@@lenarae3845 You don't need to have experienced it personally (as I have) as there are endless YT videos of US Police acting like morons.
Its a different attitude, made worse by huge egos, poor training and outright immunity all designed to escalate every situation into the highest level. Give someone like that a gun and you have the worst of all outcomes.
These UK Police are VERY well armed and yest they are all approachable, friendly, helpful and as we can see - courteous. They will ask once maybe twice and then tell you. US Police will just command you.
I think it is so sad, that people have never familiarised themselves with horses.
Too.Many.People.
I can understand if your a tourist wanting a photo and if you stand away from the guard and horse but it's the idiots that get to close and if I ever saw someone hit the horse well they might regret it
The tourists nowadays behave like they have never seen a horse before🤷♀it's somehow ridiculous
I know these horses and their guards are well-trained, but it must be very difficult for the horse to stand in one spot for an hour and also not react to all the commotion.
I could never go this job, I have the temper of a bull in a China shop ..People would be getting hit.
Oh the reaching out poking, prodding hands..Imagine how many times a day these poor horses are touched or their reins tugged..
Change the frigging sign to: DON’T touch the HORSE.
I often wonder the humans that scratch and put their fingers on the nostrils of the horse would be okay if another human did that to them😤😤😤😤😤
So many people, the guards and horses put up with alot.
They're going to just have to not allow people to take pictures no more. Somebody's going to get hurt! They can't be respectful and use caution around the horses, then make them stop taking pictures.
The police should be doing more to control these crowds
Horses r highly bred therefore highly strung, so please respect their pedigree which is probably higher than URS 😂
Nice 👍👍
I loathe these tourist hordes. Like swarms of locusts.
No respect at all.
Would help?
What's wrong with people are they all flipping stupid they should be fined for interfering with the guard and his poor horse xx Heather 🇬🇧
Why do they just stand and stare? Sorry to have to
say this but those armed protection police don't
seem to be doing much protecting. That thing that
slapped the horse should have at least been spoken
to .The whole group of them looked shifty.
Your getting the message, they don't!! They usually turn up after the event. Looks good on You Tube if they turn up occasionally.
@@dianapeek6936 Not quite. These armed guards are just a few feet away around Horse Guards. See that red button on the wall by the mounted guard? Within seconds those armed Police would be there. And at THAT point they wouldn't be issuing 'quiet words' either.
She came back again with a young teenager with blonde patches in his hair.
@@dianapeek6936 That teen reminded me of a red merle dog in terms of his hair color!
I think the police officers are lacking, they wait to until incident happens they need to be dispersed out behind the wrought iron where they can witness it when there's a huge crowd like that. I would be nervous being in a crowd like that 🤔 sometime you literally have young people being ridiculous like the three girls yesterday and now these guys today. I'll never forget when that girl in the white jacket slap the horse so sad!!
Yes. I saw that too. Sometimes I dont even see the police near the horse guards. There’s hoards of people to close to the horses. I worry about the horses being touched all day long. All the germs and Covid going around. Someone suggested that people should line up single file to see the horse. Like I mentioned before, I personally think that there should be a barrier so the tourists keep a distance from the horse. If people continue to show disrespect, they should chance the rules.
@@debbiepineda6898 I absolutely agree with you, when it get crowded like that You said Covid because it is still around . Here in the USA Hospital beds are overflowing with flu patients because they refuse to have a flu shot, The guards can even catch it if they was not immunized from all the tourists crowding around! To me the guards and horse to me that's unsanitary and unsafe!!!? I do hear some tourist are coughing and sneezing and let's not forget it is also airborne that's why they need to stop that crowd.
I can't believe the ignorance of some people! This is not a petting zoo they are working horses. The guards are real soldiers not Hollywood pretty boys! The police need to take more control and a notice should be posted that the horses must not be touched. The poor animals are becoming very agitated. Next we will some idiot groping the guards! I'm appalled!
The guards myst get sick and tired of these people being so rude!
I cant believe people are allowed to be close to the guards and to touch the horses.
Why can’t they put barriers up to stop the tourists getting so close, they are not a show piece they are doing a very important job and should be respected for it
It baffles me people take photos of themselves w/ a horse.... ridiculous
Way too many people in the way of the guard and horse. I hate it when people think it is funny to be inappropriate with horse and guard and think it is a joke. I love it when people touch the horse gentle and then give a slight rub as a Thank You. Very respectful and appreciative action
I just can't believe how disrespectful people are. These horses are working animals. They are being petted as if they are at a petting zoo. How rude and totally inconsiderate.
People shouldn't be allowed a y where near these horses. They are working.
Amazing blessing 🥰♥️👍
4:45, man in the Union Jack knit cap. Now there's a Celtic face if I ever saw one, looks like most of my family.
Our troops shouldnt have to put up with this.
Brits May show respect there but some certainly don’t in America. A huge group would come over every year for Elvis Week. (They have a big fan following.) They acted like they owned the place and complained if things weren’t going their way. I saw it every year. The most respectful were the Asian fans. So pleasant and kind. So respect goes both ways, regardless where you are.
I apologise on behalf of our feral tourists if they play up in your country and hope that they get put in their place. It's unacceptable behaviour anywhere.
Poor horse looks tired
The group were speaking spanish ,i know a lot of spanish here in uk ,but these spanish speaking tourists i would say are definately from the shall we say the more underclass of their society, very different from the ones i know
They must have a bit saved up though. Hotels etc in London are not cheap !!!!
Don’t let them touch the horse,or come near the box, this is not modelling centre with the horses, showing
Your leg,and flirt with the guards,we have some ugly sights
Love to the guards and the beautiful horses👋❤️❤️🐴
Absolutely,well said.
Am I wrong to wish that some of these rude people would get bitten?
That's good the guard pulled the horse back. Saves all the nonsense. Of tourists crowding around the horse.
They shouldn’t be allowed to get near the horses. They have no respect at all. They are not there merely as a tourist attraction, they are guards and these people are totally ignorant
They treat the guards and horses as a joke disrespectful idiots they should stop this touching of the horse the guards are trying to do a job they should also stop the photographs as it's annoying both horse and guard
