The grey was playing up earlier, maybe having an off day or in pain as there was a lot of tail swishing maybe he doesn’t like marching bands. Let’s be honest here he didn’t try to throw her off he napped and went backwards.
I had something similar happen once just riding in local forest we had no idea what caused it until we were back at stables then we discovered poor horse had been stung by bees and 3 bees were still stuck in him poor baby life with horses always expect the unexpected and be ready for anything
The hell she does well to stay on. That horse was brought to heel quickly and with authority. Superb horsemanship if I've ever seen it. Still I stand by my claim that in our modern world, horses belong in riding clubs and salami, not on public streets.
Wouldn’t you think, in the 21st century, they’d have electrified those heavy gates by now so that those poor buggers don’t have to use brute force to open and close them?? And yes, she handled her spooked mount admirably. He’s a tad big for her, her feet don’t even reach his under girth, which makes her skill all the more impressive. Well done.
Don't think that was a spook, but horse was agitated. Note the tail activity & prancing on horse early on, plus lady rider is carrying a small whip (that she does use at 3:29 with one pop on butt that gets horse forwards & listening again). Horse tail flipping a lot even after has back under control & horse listening to her again. Agitation from something. -- Yes, good seat on the rider!
Looks like all royal grey horses are in bred. Not the first time I’ve seen spooky behavior at the palace. Rider should have tilted her weight on the rear( the-brakes ).when it ran backwards , and got her lower legs off going forwards. Might have been helpful if another rider moved alongside to reassure stressed horse.
Just wanted to say also, She’s lucky she never come off tbh.., she was sitting far to forward when the horse started to play up., Tugging on the mouth like that is not the answer, But she sat through it that’s the main thing.,
Better to bring the head down than let it get above the bit and bolt. If the horse had managed to lift its head high, it would be able to ignore the bit and run. These police horses are well matched with the same few officers, the rider would have known the horse well. 😍
If there's one thing that ruffles my feathers its online horse experts 🙄 but it looks to me, in my unprofessional opinion 😉 that he was fixed on running backwards with the potential to either rear and possibly flip or run into the crowd. Id definitely be pulling the side rein to distract him from going backwards, and her actions clearly worked
@@milliesos She controlled him expertly. She kept his head down pulling down on the reins. Why do they still use those horrible bits? Every single horse is salivating like mad and clearly uncomfortable in the mouth. All those of you who praise 'good horsemanship' - alas you have no inkling about horses and riding.
If you watch that horse from the very start of video it is unsettled, tail whipping around as they walk across the gates from left to right and then reappear, still not happy. Lucky to stay on board and she did not use the whip!!
It's a slow march -- 60 beats per minute. That's about half the tempo of a quick march. It's pretty easy to do because it's in waltz time. I was a piper in two different highland bands, so did lots of this for funerals, commemorations, etc.
She handled that very well but some people forget that a whip isn't to be used as a punishment but only as an encouragement for a horse to go faster, idk I just saw her whip him when he was misbehaving and I think it should be talked abt

They way the horse picked its hind up like that, I think she wasnt used to wearing that sheet
It actually hurts way more than u think when u fell of a horse
Well ridden..the officer has a good seat..can make all the difference as to whether you stay put on your horses back or if you hit the deck...ouchhh....Jxx 💐💜👑🇬🇧🌺🎅🎄
These horses are having a once in a life time experience ! Thank you for sharing.🐴
I’m astonished
The grey was playing up earlier, maybe having an off day or in pain as there was a lot of tail swishing maybe he doesn’t like marching bands. Let’s be honest here he didn’t try to throw her off he napped and went backwards.
"Right, that's enough! You are off to the glue factory!" 🤣Just kidding I love horses and this lady handled this well.
Looked uncomfortable in the mouth to me.
@@sarahwagland1559 think the made was also in heat
Super officer well done her x
Bless and well done 🥰🐴🥰🐴🥰🐴xx
Good effort...
She did well but I've seen guards do well too with one hand at least she had two didn't have a sword to carry
I notice she pulled the reins down to stop him rearing. She did really well.
@@milliesos exactly. Running into the crowd simply not an option. Unthinkable.
@@milliesos She controlled him expertly. She kept his head down pulling down on the reins. Had she sat back in the saddle and lifted the reins he would have reared, she would have gone off and he would have bolted. These officers go through extensive training, she knew what she was doing. I loved when she gave him a comforting pat to his neck, a bond between officer and horse.
@@milliesos one thing that ruffles my feathers is online folk who come on here and don’t expect others to have a opinion, we all have different opinions, Just for the record I’m lucky enough to have two horses of my own, Ok I would never say I’m a expert, but I do know what I need to , generally a horse would never tend to run into big a crowd of people, no way not a big crowd like that ! It would be far to scary for the horse to do that,
Love the warm half-blankets the police horses are wearing. Oh, and guess what? I hear another hyena laughing at something that is definitely not funny. smh
Beautiful horses
What was the purpose of the parade? A special event or a normal event I wonder?
Anyone know the answer?
Great job by the rider! She did an awesome job!!👍👍🇺🇸
Changing of the guard, normal for this time of year.
@@Bella-fz9fy Thank you so much for answering! Greatly appreciated! I'm from the states🇺🇸. I was curious 😊
@@poochieg7064 you’re most welcome.❤️👍❤️
🤣🤣🤣 well done 🇬🇧
Why do they still use those horrible bits? Every single horse is salivating like mad and clearly uncomfortable in the mouth. All those of you who praise 'good horsemanship' - alas you have no inkling about horses and riding.
If you watch that horse from the very start of video it is unsettled, tail whipping around as they walk across the gates from left to right and then reappear, still not happy. Lucky to stay on board and she did not use the whip!!
Given the heavy police presence, how is that display done? Very interesting marching gait in first group, must take forever to get group in sync
It's a slow march -- 60 beats per minute. That's about half the tempo of a quick march. It's pretty easy to do because it's in waltz time. I was a piper in two different highland bands, so did lots of this for funerals, commemorations, etc.
@@kevinsomervilleweir5677 Thank you for explaining, still seems like really weird foot and lower leg movement.
Well sat...
I'm a horse, occasionally I'll do something stupid and unpredictable, I can't help it
She handled that very well but some people forget that a whip isn't to be used as a punishment but only as an encouragement for a horse to go faster, idk I just saw her whip him when he was misbehaving and I think it should be talked abt
That’s why I never rode English saddle. Didn’t feel safe. But that’s just me 😉
i think they should have some motors on those gates
What is the name of the first tune they played?
