I really hope Nissan has a winner with this one. Cant wait for you to test on Australian roads and provide your overall thoughts against its competitors.

I made a test myself. It's very quiet, and very very Quick and steady in the corners. It was the 4 x 4 version. With highest trim level. I only can recommend it for 100 %. And the 360 camera works very well.
I own a Nissan Note e-power imported from Japan. They should have launched this tech worldwide years ago, it is hands down the best hybrid style around.
@@hi9580 Good choice if you don't have the facilities to charge a PHEV from home. Although I'm talking from a UK perspective where a lot of us live in terraced housing and don't have driveways/garages.
I’ve got a test drive( only in city) two weeks ago, so I ordered it. The interior was really nice, AirPlay worked perfectly, and the acceleration was just amazing. Hopefully it will come to me until April 👌
The latest Nissan family face is quite handsome in my view also....me thinks they got this split front light blocks way more coherent than what BMW is struggling with on the X7
I have the older 2012 T31 Manual ST 4X4 and it’s been (still is) amazing! Big boot. Great off road. The current models were a BIG step backward, with piano black everywhere and a much smaller boot. This one looks nice and if it’s decent off-road, I might get one. But man is it expensive. Literally more than double what I paid for my 2012 🤯
Xtrail design after 2014 has gone to dogs. Xtrail had always been a boxy off road SUV but Nissan did a fatal mistake to make it just like the city running round shape SUV Qashqai. That was a huge mistake. I hope this model will correct that mistake.
Nice review. There are below 2 points missing and hence i request clarity on these: 1. A 0-100km test is missing. 2. Does the car feel slow at any point especially when battery is low or does the engine kicks in before that to recharge it and retain the juice in battery?
Thanks for a great review I have had 2 earlier X Trails and was very happy with them. Now I think it's time to go Hybrid. I would like all electric but live in the country so not enough charging points around yet. Also hydrogen vehicles may come on line sooner rather than later.
Great in-depth review, I must say 20x better than carsguide. They missed so many features and didn't go into the car anywhere near how you did! 👏👍 I spoke with Essendon in Victoria and the have one coming next month..... If it drives as good as you say, they'll get my order straight away before the mad rush! By the sounds of it 20% more power, 10% better fuel efficiency and you don't have to plug it in! Sounds good to me
Damn I did not notice Paul's attire changed when they started shooting the interior of the car. I was so fixated on how the car looked and did not pay attention to how Paul looked haha.
Great video! I recently asked one of the vehicles dealer to provide the cost of replacing the battery in future. Surprisingly they don’t know what exactly it is but they gave me an indication around $8k-$10k mark. So the amount we spent on PHEV vehicles are way expensive then ICE operated engines.
A lot of complexity for a a couple of liters of fuel saving per 100k. An interesting metric these reviews could incorporate is how insurance companies view hybrids and pure ev’s in terms of premiums asked.
I ditched RAV4 and ordered one after the test drive. It's pretty good to drive, felt better than RAV4. Even though it says 6.1l/100, after resetting the trip computer with some spirited drive averaged 5.8l/100. Only downside is service for 6years (capped) will cost nearly $3000, 10000km/year.
This is one way of getting rid of the CVT. One question about the petrol engine. Does it run on a constant speed or does it vary with the throttle position? It reminds me of a Diesel-Electric Locomotive.
Hi Paul Another great review and it looks as though Nissan have finally come up with an X-trail capable of competing for market share with the all conquering RAV4 Hybrid. Look forward to your follow-up under Australian road conditions.
Pretty impressive setup here, looks like Nissan is finally giving what people expect from the brand. Which part of Germany did you film this? I guess south/Bavaria?
I thought the E-power vehicles were due in Oz 5 years ago. There have been a range of vehicles in Japan for some time. Oh well I'm surprised they launched with X-Trail and QASHQAI instead
Looking forward to the new X-Trail arriving here in South Africa. The new powertrain looks interesting... Hoping it will come as well but we know that it will cost an arm and a leg
Hopefully we get it. This is almost the perfect family SUV for our market. The value packed in here is great (practicality, economy, and style). Price wise it will prob be between R700k to R800k (thinking around Rav4 pricing). I would select this over the premium brands which are over R1mill at this spec level.
Not a fan of EV, S having to recharge and limited range. But this ICE running a generator to power the electric motors is of interest.Would be interesting to see what economy is achieved per 100 km. Sounds very complicated i hope the have produced a trouble free vehicle.

good setup of the climate control including one button for recycled air. some manufacturers put 2 buttons, one for recycled, one for fresh. why? just have 1 button
Interesting point. However it’s also very simple without the CVT like the Rav… in this, the engine spins a generator (simple) and cables then connect the inverter to the motors. I must say I love the idea of this layout but it IS a new method.
