WOW. I didn't even know that this original He-Man figure existed! As others have said, this is "my" He-Man: the Alfredo Alcala mini-comic version who existed before the Filmation series. I love it so much! What a phenomenal sculpt.
What I especially like is how his bio mentions he gets some gear from the goddess which not only homages the original storyline for He-Man, but it also gives collectors a solid idea of what to do with the additional He-Man accessories that came with Goddess
This figure was the reason I subbed with Matty for 2015. You didn't say but I'm sure most fans know he not only has an axe with Huntara but gear that also came with the "Green" Goddess. I love this figure and you did an excellent job on the review. Your energy is contagious.
The He-man vintage head that came with OO- Larr the Jungle He-Man makes the standard He- man with the harness look different than prince Adam which is a big plus.

I find so interesting the fact that in the comics at the begining heman was like a nomad..zodac was an evil guy..and grayskull wasnt heman's palace!...and merman face wasnt the same of the action figure.....misteries unsolved!!!..lol
I had a knock off He-Man in the 90s that looked just like Oo-Lar, it had naked feet and a different loincloth sculpted, he would be perfect for a comparison time! great review man

Wow! If Disney released a 6 inch figure line similar to Masters of The Universe Classics then Oo-Lar’s parts will be reused for a Tarzan figure! I kinda picture that quite a bit!

That is totally my He_man I hated when the cartoon came out and tainted my bad ass mythilogical world with there prince Adam and ewwwwwww cringer. And orco was like the original jar jar. These figures are awesome though.
I had preferred Oolar as THE He-Man and when all of the different figures came up popping out in the current years, before its release I had made a Fan Fiction that had Oolar be in fact King Grayskull himself before becoming King. The story had him leaving his tribe not to search for adventure but to defend his tribe, and coming across the goddess whom he helps and she gifts him with his armor, but and some magical metals, which he proceeds to make his Power Sword and then as time has it, he builds Castle Grayskull with carving it with his hands from a Rocky mound...you know, altering a lot of elements of the original mini comic's stories like when it was said He-Man had built his home from stone with with his bare hands. This would make (Oolar) King Grayskull the obvious Original He-Man and the ancestor of Prince Adam as it was made to be, although I really dislike the name Oolar, but aside from Grayskull I never came out with a cool sounding name.
Honestly, I like the first Classics-Head more. I mean, that's the sense of Classics, isn't it? Updating the old sculpts. The vintage head belongs to the vintage He-Man, but the new He-Man looks cooler with his own head. :)
This could also count as a Yor: the Hunter from the Future action figure for us Reb Brown fans! Aw man! If only he came with an extra open mouth head, then we could recreate the Yor poster!!
I reject the concept of "OO-Larr" being a separate He-Man prior to Prince Adam, in anything but Scott Neitlich's personal canon. *The only way to reconcile the introduction of Prince Adam in the minicomics,* with the older minicomics, is to state that Prince Adam is He-Man's alter ego in the minicomics, just like Clark Kent is Superman's alter ego. This is different from the cartoon, where Prince Adam is the default setting, and He-Man is his alter ego. Thus, in the minicomics, He-Man's half of the Power sword, does not grant super strength, but allows the already super strong He-Man, to quickly discard his Prince Adam disguise. Also, in the minicomics, Prince Adam/He-Man must have been the adopted son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, as he is clearly shown to have originated from the barbarian tribe, and not as a royal family member. Before the introduction of Prince Adam in "Dragon's Gift" minicomic, we see He-Man sat at the dining table with the King and Queen in both "The Magic Stealer" and "The Ordeal of Man-E-faces". This could be the precursor to him being adopted as their son, in his disguised form as Adam. As a side note, the Queen seems totally unaware that Adam is He-Man, in "He-Man and the Insect People", yet King Randor must be aware of this fact, because He-Man calls him "Father" to his face in "The Search for Keldor". Thus, we can conclude that He-Man/Adam's relationship was closer with the King than with the Queen, leading up to him to being adopted as their son.

Yeah, even as a kid I was so much more into the original minicomics than the STUPID, terribly drawn, horribly acted cartoon show - especially the Alcala Skeletor. More detail, more of the "ancient barbarian" vibe, darker and deeper than the cartoon, which turned everything into a dumb joke.
There is a guy on eBay who sold 35 of them as pre-orders for $59.95 plus shipping. That's pretty much what my lose Skeletor cost me over here. What bothers me more is overall quality. His left leg and the wrist joints don't look too good.
I just cant get behind this guy...he is just a very basic caveman figure. I am kinda upset that "this" is the club exclusive for the final year..to me this caveman figure is about as big a slap in the face as The Unnamed One was. I get that this is from the mini comics and some people like it, just not for me.

Oo-Lar was the first man on Eternia to wear a shaggy loincloth that would be ubiquitous wear for all males.

The bodies on this line have swayed me away from it poor articulation weak sculpt and a bit bogey plus the joints or not hidden at all
