Finally picked these guys up over the weekend. Thanks for the video showing me how everything works saving me time figuring that stuff out. Very helpful.
Dan, the tops you mean were called "Whizzers", also made by Mattel. They were rounded with cool designs, you'd get the bottom moving by dragging them fast on the floor a few times, then they'd spin like magic and do tricks.
Great video! Thank you! While we got a lot more with this set than I expected, I was still annoyed that Rotar's Roto-Pod / Gear Grinder thing had the gears moulded so that he could only be plugged into the gears when it's upside-down. I ended up drilling out a hole in the hub of one of the gears so he could be displayed on it the right way up.
Observation: since the pegs fit any of the holes on Rotar's "weapon base", in theory you could plug one figure into the ends and spin them against each other. Gripe: they're packaged backwards over the wrong name.
This review makes me wish I put an effort into obtaining them! The stands for the vintage figures was PURE GENIUS since those vintage figures are nearly impossible to display without toppling over!
Awesome review, Dan! I had no idea there were so many display options. I totally see Twistoid as some kind of army builder for LL Skeletor! Rotar is almost the same for the Heroic Warriors, especially with the awesome "second face" feature. Also, your reviews have been really fine tuned and I think this was the best one yet! Keep it up!
Ariel A. Roldan-Martinez In Mattel's defense It took me a decade to be able to refer to one or the other without having to look it up first. :D Corrected boxes would be a funny sub exclusive for next year though. Open up the misprinted ones from this year and MIB them your self. :P
I wish I'd known that when the Chidlren's Palace in North Canton, Ohio has an entire wall of these guys and all three of the Preternia dinosaurs, back in 1987!
My opinion, but these are by far the worst vintage MOTU ever made. Very content to not own them. This was the end of the vintage line when their toy designers just stopped caring. Sorry, they suck.

I wasnt sure about these at first but after your review, I love them

For those still wanting these, BBTS still has the 2-pack for $39.99.
Thanks!!!
Finally, I got twistoid and Rotar and I like them a lot. Thanx for this great review!

So glad I was finally able to get this set! I LOVE the fact we have the option to display with and without the legs. NICE!

Wonderful revieW.
These look wicked!
That brings back some dear childhood memories 👌.
Thank you 👍

Great review. I was looking forward to this one. I LOVE how these guys turned out. Hopefully I will be able to find them somewhere.
Has anyone noticed these guys are backwards in the pack? Twistoid is in rotors place and so on
Yes I noticed that to.
Good call. You're right!
aw man, you have the vintage set! I still have to get mine..2 of the few figures I am missing still.
I just want to say that I'm totally fine with the legs. In fact I love them most with their legs on...
Me too, I always thought they looked silly without legs, in fact, that's the reason I never got them when I was a kid.
Excellent figures and nice review!.
I´m sad because I was delayed to get them for a few minutes :(.
Next time I hope be more lucky.
got these two on the way to me can't wait to get them in hand. they looks sweet even though I never had the originals.
Put the two figures on uppersit sides of the saw blade thing that way you can mamic the rotor feature
I'm not one for Battle Tops, but I thought I'd give this video...A Spin!
Wow a MOTUC review!?That's rare.round gras

Interesting point about the army building aspect. I'd like to see a squadron alongside the filmation Hover Robots.
Could you have both figures on either end of Rotars spinny saw weapon so they can fight rock'um sock'um style?
Hey Dan, a while ago you reviewed the Funko Pop Misfit elephant. That pop has dramatically increased in value and is worth ~$150
so Twistoids real name is Gyro Robo? That is so not lame
that sawblade sword would fit nicely in any jrpg for sure :p
I saw one of these sets in a store called ThinkGeek in Savannah,Georgia for $80
Awesome figures
Did you put the King Hiss on the top bottom? (Battle Top King Hiss)
I was looking at that comment for hours (exaggeration but still a long time) until I realized you meant top as in *a* top not *the* top.
I can't believe he did not mention that for the people who want them sealed, the names on the box r switched! LOL

You know, I actually think Rotar would look a lot better with repainted King Hsss legs
It sounds really wierd but id like too see a cyborg clawful using twistoids body.
the originals go for $800 for both

dam, needed spinning tops
Muy bueno

These look dumb without the legs...their sold out everywhere. I dont get it.
not cool as the vintage figures
These look awful with legs. :(
Horrible things!
Good fig's, crap review.
