I'm excited for this figure, because when I was a kid I had a real tragic storyline for him. In my story he was created by the Snake Men to infiltrate Skeletor's Evil Warriors posing as one of them so King Hiss could detonate him at the right moment killing his rival Skeletor. Only the part about Exploding was unknown to Blast Attack and when he discovered his real mission he returned to the snake men and detonated himself to attempt to destroy his once trusted master.
You get a thumb up for creativity, but with a name like Blast Attak, a countdown timer on his chest, and the fact that he kept saying “tic, tic, tic”, he really should have had some inkling about what was going on...
I never got a "Blast-Attack" action figure when I was a kid, but I did know of the character from the mini-comics I had from other figures, playsets. I always thought Blast-Attack was merely a robot more than human. As time went on, I think there was a story where Blast-Attack was mass-produced and used as just expendable kamikaze bombs for the Horde. But this figure here, when I look at... The eyes... Those sullen, sunken dead-eyes... Knowing how cruel Hordak is, and having sacrificed his own biological anatomy for cybernetics, I can see him conscripting the dead as his Kamakaze Army of Blast-Attacks. Using the dead and of course bunglers who failed him one time too many... That seems like a fitting horror tale of Hordak and his Horde. I can picture a scene where there is a moment of clarity of a Blast-Attack remembering whom he was only moments before.... tick, tick, tick.... Boom! *EDIT* Apparently, I got my mini-comics mixed up. It was never clear whom his affiliation was with, in those comics and what was depicted on the back of the box.
Great video! Thank you! As nifty as this figure was, and even knowing he wouldn't have his vintage action feature, I was still kind of disappointed. I ordered a bunch, to see if I could customise one with his vintage action feature, and all of them had loose-ish joints, and many of them had brown stains on them, like someone on the assembly line was eating lunch while putting them together and splashed sauce on his arms and legs.
Hey Dan, great vid but ever notice his color scheme (the figures) is almost identical to Metal Head from TMNT. Perhaps that's why mentally, it works now.
He was the only Snake Man I didn't have as a kid. I was quite sad, that I never could complete the ranks of the Snake Men becous this I missed out on Blast Attak. Now about 2 decades later I learned that for many people Blast Attak was supposed to be an Evel Warrior. WTF? That would mean I had all the Snake Men all alonge? But like Pixel Dan said. In the Mini Comics he was build by King Hssss and the Mini Comics have allways been my main source of MotO lore.
It's very disappointing that he does not come apart. I understand not having him actually blow apart like the vintage figure. But, he should have been able to at least pull apart. Classics have done this before with characters such as Modulok, King Hiss, Extendar, Tallstar, and so on.
I wasn't expecting this review so quickly since I just found out about it yesterday though a Matty tweet. I was hopping they'd at least fake the action feature somehow. Maybe by making his limbs removable.
I absolutely HATE that the put the Snake Men logo on the bubble. That should have been a choice for us to decide. That's what we have sticker sheets for. If Sea Hawk and Huntara can come sans a POP logo, surely they could have done the same with this guy. Great figure and review though :)
VanDammedia It would have compromised his look and poseability and then people would be complaining about that. These are primarily display pieces not toys. They did the right thing.
Why didn't they make a blast attack figure for masters of the universe revelation figures master verse toy line when they made the figures got masters of the universe revelation figures

villains in this series don’t have tragic backstories lol I like to think Skeletor uses him for busting his cronies out of prison
I love it when you use your toy room as a backdrop!
I love it when I see you in the comment section. ;)
retropirate1 Naw stahp et!
Why they quitted on The Motu Classics line toys. It was the very best from Mattel.

He's my favorite MOTU villain.
I didn't feel much either way about this figure's impending release until I saw your video. Now I'm pumped!
Yellow-red-black-grey is an unusual color combination that works surprisingly well. Just ask Grimlock of the Dinobots.

I like the idea that a Snake Man got blown to hell and was rebuilt as Blast Attack. If only some of the older figures had this non removable armor!
Blast Attaks weird axe deserves its own video.:)
waiting for him since 2008. Finally
Really who would want to give pixel dan any hassle the guy is awesome

I've been displaying my vintage one with the Horde (oops).
Good work Mattel and Four horseman. Didn't include THE THING of this character. Dunno was is possible to do that fuction thou. Otherwise nice figure.
Do you think that we will ever get an origins version?
I've allways considered this guy a snakeman.
Excited to get the vintage one. He is a wacky character which is good. Boy, this he man line is strange.

Also, I could see the arm of your next review in the background...
Since he has Trap-Jaw arms, do they at least come off?
If he has Optykk and Trap Jaws arms, are they also removable?
Nice Video Man and when BBMFM Bcause I miss it so much!!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Great Review!!
nice piece
Devo reference missed, Dan. :(
Whip it good!
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid!🎶
God I love that song.
So blast attack doesn’t actually come apart ? 😔
Hmm, I can think of a couple of figures which would have benefited from this non removable armor idea.
I am not a fan of action features that much...but a figure like Blast Attak should at least come apart! Stupid from Mattel not to do so!
VanDammedia It would have compromised his look and poseability and then people would be complaining about that. These are primarily display pieces not toys. They did the right thing.
Kind of a steam punk look in blast attack
hey dan, have they made dragstor yet? will they?
They are making it for the 2015 sub
If he had a turtle head he could look like metal head from TMNT
Why didn't they make a blast attack figure for masters of the universe revelation figures master verse toy line when they made the figures got masters of the universe revelation figures
6:56 Who made that weapon, the Kids Next Door?
tic explode tic
Doesn't make much sense without the action feature... Don't really see why it couldn't be at least made from two separate parts.
Beep Boop Hiss
Blast Attak must be Dan´s favorute MOTU character and not the lame Mosquitor.
Why...WHY did I ever sell 90+% of my Classics collection. Cry...
skibidi bap dada
Down voted for not showing off how the original blows up.
