This video is the best one you have ever created. Wow. What a documentation of your journey. The technology is definitely providing an interface into a hidden world. Arthur C. Clarke’s 3rd law “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
Speaking of jhanas and neurofeedback, there are some people developing a device called Jhourney to help people with that specific goal. But the product doesn't even exist yet, and is expensive to pre-order, so I've just bought myself a Mendi instead. Even though the Mendi, unlike the Muse, is not designed and marketed as a meditation aid per se, I hope it might serve as an early stepping stone to the jhanas-especially since my goals as a student are relatively modest. I seek merely the "pleasure jhanas" or "lite jhanas" of Ayya Khema and Leigh Brasington, and perhaps Mendi is an ideal first step towards "access concentration".
great video. I am so glad someome is talking about this as I am an ex neuroscientist and meditator for over 15y and have experienced jhana. (real thing. everything including space time gone) so hoping to measure and use tech to help reach these meditation letting go milestones again
@Cody Rall MD with Techforpsych I'm a little confused: So we should avoid the Nimitta during the meditation process right? it seems like you said that we should allow it to suck us in at the end of the video. Am I interpreting something wrong?
Hey Cody, do you think with wearing the Muse headband and having bluetooth so close to your head/brain that it could cause harm? Would love to see your take on this
I would really appreciate a response from an expert like yourself on this! I've seen mixed perspectives on the harms of bluetooth radiation and its harms increasing with proximity. Thanks Cody!
This was a really nice video, well done! It makes me wonder whether or not you've come across some parallel research in a field called neurotheology? There is some amazing work being done by Andrew Newberg, MD to create a neurological roadmap of the state of enlightenment. One of my favorite books is called, 'How Enlightenment Changes Your Brain'. Would love to hear you review this work!
Show me where Ajahn Brahm recommend the use of artificial tools (headand or App ) to improve Samathi? He says the opposite. You missed the whole point Sir. Nice try to sell your stuff.
There are always the doubters. I just started using the Muse but also have meditated without for some time. I have gotten good results with it. Funny that some can create doubt without even trying it.
super interesting! this makes me want to watch your videos even more! i would love to see a meditation tutorial of what you've learned so far
Thank you! A tutorial is actually my next video coming out this weekend :)

Wow thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for the support over the years. Glad you like the direction I am going.
This is the third book Dr. Rall has mentioned that I have in my home library.
Great video. Thanks.
Awesome Keith, glad to hear it!

Thank you so much for sharing! I purchased both of your recommended books on Kindle.

Yes, wait as long as you can before getting distracted from the breath.
"The breath is an old friend."

Side question, will you be reviewing Mendi (after and IF it will be in your hands)?
Yes, should be having a video out on Mendi in a month or so ;)
@@CodyRallMD Thanks a lot!
Meditation is not a journey. It’s not a point A to point B. It’s more like Point A equals Point B and Point B equals Point C. Instant gratification.
Definitely rewards along the way for sure!
How much do you meditate daily? Thanks.

Thanks I'll check it out!
Thank you for sharing - I have purchased the book after watching a video on Andrew Newberg.
@@younghairab6932 I'm happy to hear that, let me know your thoughts if you feel like sharing after you've read it.
What was the name of the second book?
The Mind Illuminated: A Complete Meditation Guide Integrating Buddhist Wisdom and Brain Science for Greater Mindfulness by Culadasa (John Yates, PhD)

@@CodyRallMD nice have you checked out "zen and the brain"

He says the opposite.
You missed the whole point Sir.
Nice try to sell your stuff.
Forget about that dude, he is a faker who wants to sell.
He never had Nimitta or even attained first Jhana.
Not surpising when we see what he sells.
Thanks for the comment, sorry you feel that NeuroTech cannot help those who seek to understand their own brains
Thanks for the encouragement, I'll keep training!
