UPDATE: I’ve been using this device for almost 9 months and I’m honestly just as obsessed with it as I was when I first got it. I never used to make time to meditate and I frequently got frustrated any time I actually tried (thank you, ADHD). Getting real-time feedback from the Muse S and being able to see session data not only motivates me to meditate, but it’s helped me develop a much more positive relationship with meditation. I actually look forward to it and I FINALLY mediate on a regular basis!
The Muse S has truly become one of my favorite health-related products and I wish I had started using it sooner. If you’re interested in trying the Muse S or the Muse 2 out, they’re having a Black Friday sale that runs pretty much all month!
Feel free to use this link: choosemuse.com/balancinglaura
(A huge thank you if you do - I get a small kickback that helps me continue creating videos! If not, no worries and thank you for watching my videos) 💜

I have been using Muse products for several years, The Muse 2, I believe, is over the ear and it works great. No complaints at all. The Muse S hoewever is a different story.
There are HUNDREDS of customers who have problems with poorly engineered, poor material quality, headbands. I'm one. The first headband wore out, the over the ear sensors, sfter about three months, the bronze colored metalic coating wore off. I just quit using it.
I decided to try to use the Muse headband and the newer DSP sleep tracking and training program. I purchased a $79 new band and started the sleep training program. At first my unit popped out of the band. I worked the material in, under the connector side to fix this. It will still present problems, for me... but the new module with hooks resolves this issue.
WIth my new headband, after about a week I started having problems with the over the ear sensor. Following the usual instructions, I would get it to work and go to bed. Two weeks later, I'm messing with this strap for 20 minutes a night to get it to work. Then I lay down for three minutes and the annoying "Bonk" "Bonk" "Bonk" that tells you that the contact is lost, of course, the image shows the over the ear sensors pulsing or white. Several communications with the zoom people with the same resolution of the list of histrionics to attempts to acquire and maintain the over the ear contact. Last night there was the usual battle with me losing.
As I said before, HUNDREDS of people are having this problem. I do not recommend the Muse S product.

Finally decided to buy a Muse headband.
Ordered today so don't have it yet.
I wanted this years ago, but I'm still glad I waited this long.
I have been meditating for more than 25 years and also meditating every day for a period of 7 years.
Now I do it the way it feels, usually every day but not as long as before.
I also tried for a time to meditate instead of sleeping.
Big changes in meditation are usually so small that you can't explain it.
Thanks to your enthusiasm I am now also over and will see what the Muse2 can do for me.
    Greetings

      How was it???

    • @computeronzin
      @computeronzin Год назад

@@AbdulAhad-xt5wm As with everything, spiritual growth also has its limits.
In your mind, 1+1+1+1+1 adds up to 5 and you can add 1 again and again.
The spiritual development keeps returning to balance, more fasting, meditation or whatever doesn't get you any further but rather shows you what can still be worked on.
I also experienced this with the Muse headband.
I also find the Mind Monitor App interesting to see how the brain waves react during rest or meditation.
Meditation has become a very common concept with us in the West, we call almost everything meditation.
The Muse brings more clarity and confusion here.
      In short: “Still not enlightened”.
      Greetings

This was a useful review, thank you for this. I have been looking for something like this for a while now actually but was not sure if I should. Your video helped me know that I should go ahead with this.

it even gave me a 20% discount.
I was convinced by the fact that you said you don't need it to meditate, but it motivates you to do it more often. i can well imagine that. Thank you for introducing the product

In this review at around 4:30 you say that the sleep stage data between the Oura and the Muse vary a little as would be expected. But the screenshots show a vast difference. Your Oura is claiming a lotttttt of deep sleep (2h35), whereas your Muse is claiming a more normal looking 1h41m. That’s a very significant difference, and I think you glossed over that a bit. If I had to guess, I’d guess that it’s the Oura that’s got it wrong, since the Muse has access to better (EEG) data. What do you think?
I’m looking at getting a Muse S because I’m not completely convinced that my Apple Watch is accurately measuring my deep sleep, although lower values are correlating with more groggy/off-my-game days.

Thanks for the review. Will you do follow up video with Muse and how its been going, especially any noticable effects of more consistent meditation?

That's a great idea! I'll probably do a video about my meditation journey and will talk about the Muse in there. As of now I've got over a 65 day streak and I'm SO proud!

I wonder if they'll ever create a corded version in the future. I currently use a corded sleep mask with built-in speakers. The cord is a headphone jack, so it never needs charging. And it never bothers me in my sleep (it's located in the back).
I would imagine something similar with Muse, but perhaps with a USB-C or lightning to load data into phone after usage.
Because I, too, feel weird about sleeping with bluetooth that close to my frontal lobe.

This was great, thank you! The one thing that confused me is that you said it doesn't show actual brainwave data, but I thought it did (left and right sides), and that's important to me. I'll have to backtrack and see if that was another device...

I want to love my Muse S but it won’t stay connected making meditation a most stressful and irritating experience. When it works it’s wonderful. But…buyer beware. They sent me a replacement band and it’s worse than the first one. Sensors will not stay connected. 🤬

The Oura Ring does give values and a nice display however it's values are only about 60% accurate. It wouldn't suggest using that ring

Dr. K over at @HealthyGamer suggests that people with ADHD might benefit from a meditation where there's actually lots of stimulation and where you train your mind to follow it... in order to exhaust it a bit.

You are so cute! Thank you for this review. I've been trying to decide whether or not to spend the money on this and I have been uncertain. Thank you for your detailed report. Like yourself I have ADHD. Actually ADD. I cannot meditate no matter how hard I try. I also sleep like shit. So I'm going to go ahead and spend the money. Thank you dear. 😊
