Invisalign Doesn’t Work

- Over a year and a half in Invisalign and it didn't work. I had to get braces instead. 😅 While my teeth were already straight before this journey, I got Invisalign to close my open bite. Technically I've been wearing 3M Aligners but I've been calling them Invisalign this whole time (sorrrrrry)!

I got regular braces because it was cheaper and it would take less time,1 year vs 2-3 years is a pretty big difference,plus the braces are less work!
First time I’m seeing your videos Laura. I wish I could give you a hug. You seem like a beautiful person inside and out. Don’t worry so much about what people think you look like. I know it’s hard because we all feel judged but as we get older it becomes less important. Do what’s needed for the best health outcome. The people at work won’t care and will see you without braces soon enough. All the best. Try and stay positive. 🤗

I'm really sorry you've gone through this! It sounds like the jaw surgery, though traumatic and with a crappy recovery, might end up being the true long-term fix you need ☹️
As someone with similar problems currently with an open bite, my insurance would not cover it and it’s very expensive. Like 20k
I have an open bite and an asymmetrical bite and j have Invisalign right now and it’s working. But everyone is different and it also depends how good your orthodontist’s is at the treatment plan. Hope it gets better!
I have an open bite and crossbite and I'm getting ready to start Invisalign and I am scared! I've had jaw surgery in the past and I am worried about my joints
@@ac-nb4pn why are you scared? If you hate getting rubber bands it’s supposed to affect your joints on purpose. Have you told your orthodontist what you’re worried about?
I had braces for 7 years, 4 surgeries and more. As an adult, OD’s seem to be too quick to prescribe Invisalign to not just me again but now my whole family. I used to have some major gum issues, etc. Started eating a carnivore diet and that fixed all my gum issues and my teeth are cleaner, healthier, stronger and somehow slightly more aligned. If you need breaches again, I get it. Try going meat only to see if that helps you any as well.

I’ve been doing Invisalign for two years now and I hate it. I’m on my last retainer and my jaw is not aligned. My teeth aren’t aligned it’s not working and my dentist isn’t listening to me at all. I am wanting to switch dentists so bad.
For a severe open bite, they should’ve recommended traditional braces. Why didn’t they? Maybe the caption should say, “why my Invisalign didn’t work”, bc it obviously does work for many people. Sorry it didn’t help in your situation. My daughter had Invisalign for a seemingly small issue for over 2 years. Her Dr wouldn’t let her finish till he got it right! So it may nit be for everyone. Obviously your doctor didn’t realize the Invisalign wouldn’t help your issue, or else they would’ve had you get regular braces from the start,
She didn't want regular braces cos she had them before and didn't want to go through with them again.
invisalign do work. my 10yr has been wearing them and have corrected his teeth. each week he changed out to a new set and they slowly moved his teeth over a course of 39 or more weeks
I’m so sorry. It’s extremely traumatic. I’m curious, why wouldn’t you consider jaw surgery? Noncompliance is the biggest concern with Invisalign and I can feel your frustration and discouragement since you were/ are extremely compliant. There’s no predicting how a case will go and I’m glad you are in treatment with a great orthodontist. Please keep us posted ❤

i'm someone who also looks young for his age; i'm 35 and will get mistaken for 25. socially i get over it. but in the workplace it's particularly frustrating as i can tell when i'm being spoken down to.
i really appreciate this video a lot. i wonder if perhaps there was a degree of overcompliance you had as a child where your jaw got so used to the retainer the muscles got less flexible? i'm not an orthodontist, so that probably sounds super ignorant and is wrong. just all seems strange. how far along are you?

Im 32 male as well and have a baby face 👼 like you. People think im 22 and work in a corp banking job no less so i know about how you feel about being taking seriously. About to get my first invis tomorrow hoping to fix my overbite and they said im biting in 2 places so gonna need dem bands as well. Hope they dont put freaking screws in me i will freaking cri
Coming from a guy braces look hot on girls. You should get them if it will solve you issue. No need to be self conscious
Why not headline Braces don’t work? You had braces and they did not work. You are a one off case. Don’t bash Invisalign because you are not a usual case. Nothing seems to be working for you yet. Imo I would never allow someone to out screws in my jaw unless it’s an oral surgeon. You are a better candidate for oral surgery than messing around with what you’ve been doing.

I thought about doing one of these teeth aligners but I learned that you have to use a retainer for the rest of your life if you do it as an adult. F that.
Yeah that’s the trade off! I think because I’ve been in the routine of wearing a retainer or the Invisalign trays it doesn’t bother me so much. But you’re totally right 😅
You have to wear a retainer with braces too. I had braces and never wore it and my teeth went back through the years. Now Invisalign to clean it up.
No you dont have to wear them life long.... you only gotta have to wear them lifelong if your teeth arent setting right.....if the treatment works and your teeth set up right meaning bite is corrected then you dont have to wear them lifelong.
@@harryp3804u do have to wear them all ur life it's standard cos if u don't ur teeth revert back to the way they were before.

You look gorgeous. Personally I would not do it. It is so much trauma. Adult braces makes people more likely to loose your teeth early. Dentists do not tell you that but it is true. Id do some more research. Those screws in your jaw did some damage and it is unlikely you have the jaw strength to support all this additional trauma from braces. Just my 2 cents. Braces and Invisalign are purely cosmetic. There is no proof that they fix anything but there is proof that they cause gym recession. I'm sorry you hard to go through this and I hope you know it is ok to stop.
Actually u are so wrong traditional braces and invisalign can actually fix alot of problems that are not cosmetic. Some people who need very complex treatments have to have braces to shift the teeth in the right place especially if the bite is not aligned properly which can cause teeth grinding and tmj and usually have to go for jaw surgery if not fixed sooner u can have problems with chewing and speech.
@@robinsonsarah143my back molars were flared out too much,causing me to bite my cheeks every time I chewed anything! I’ve been in braces for about a month so far and I’m probably getting them off at the end of this year or early next year!
You will get way better results with the braces. I had to get them in my 40s and my teeth were also straight looking. I had a popping issue in my jaw from TMJ. The braces really seem to have done the trick. When do you get your braces?
Im 32 buddy and have tmj with overbite with me biting on 2 sides..... my freaking ortho is taking me straight to Invisa no thought or discussion , am i being trapped af ? Should i just do braces ???????? Halp mee.
