    Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

    I don't think people should do a "tool review" if they have only used it for a day or a few hours, because i think it's just not enough time to get a feel for a product. Also with the charging times it's ok reading what the manufacturer says it will be, but actually charging the cells and seeing how long it takes irl could be different. Saying that it was a good factual and informative review.
    I recently purchased the impact driver and i was very impressed with the build quality of the tool, i wasn't really a fan of the trigger as sometimes you press it and it doesn't respond fast enough, the light could be a little brighter (compared to other brands such as Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita). The price is great and the two year warranty is alright. I'd really promote the product if it had a 3 year warranty like the other brands ( Milwaukee having 5 years). But the gap in performance between budget and professional are coming ever closer together.

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  3 года назад +1

      A year on the tools are still going strong. The point you made about the delay on the trigger is a good one, and something I hadn't noticed until my carpenter mate who uses Makita pointed it out. Other than that, I maintain the build quality is excellent and I'm still using them as my primary tools, apart from the drill driver, as I tend to reach for my 12v Ryobi because of weight.

    I bought a load of Erbauer tools as a DIYer. Since then I've gone "pro" and the tools keep on going. The older type impact driver and multi cutter have been fantastic. I also have the newer type SDS and combo drills. No complaints so far. Fortunately my clients aren't tool snobs.

    I’ve just started as a fitter and I bought a drill driver and impact driver. Bought 4 x 4amp batteries. I can confirm they are great and for the price take the abuse of site work really well. Get a bit of stick from the yellow and black army but hey I’m not spending twice the money at this point in my career

      Not surprised. I'm still very happy with these. Only gripe really is that there's a very minute lag when you press the trigger. Other than that, they're quality.

      Great to hear that, Luke. I agree it's a powerful little tool. Before you get the combi just check out this video bit.ly/3sxpfw5 as personally I'd buy an SDS for drilling brickwork. Combis are not really up to drilling in concrete so you're carrying a lot of weight around for a job they're really not very good at. Here's another video on the point bit.ly/2MXfKGD

    Funny to see that they give these tools to RUclipsrs, but never cross their mind to give it to their staff for use or promote like myself.
    I sell this and many other brands on a daily basis at B&Q, but what we have been given was a plain range guide for the tools. No testing, no rep, just good old dry read-through before higher management asks.
    Needless to say I'm not being ungrateful for your content, in fact I believe you have done good and time to time you need a bit of support and I hope you kept the tools.
    But truly this video proves to me that as much as B&Q talking about how much their staff matters to them, these are mostly just words without meanings and they will invest where they think it's beneficial, but in their own staff even if they have years and years of experience as mechanics or carpenters.

    Nice to have you back, I use Dewalt only because people I work with use the same which means we are never short of battery power. I don’t have much in the way of brand loyalty as long as Long as I get service at a reasonable price. Like you I’ve gone the whole hog plus SDS, multi tool, saw etc. No regrets. These look to be quite reasonable tools for the DIYer that wants to get into something more heavy duty, my only advice is to ensure adequate battery power for the task. 2ah batteries don’t last long when doing heavy duty jobs. I’ve managed to extend my range of tools by picking up ‘body only’ as it’s the batteries that really cost the money. Look forward to more from you. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      Cheers Mike. Yes it's been a frustrating absence. Had a heap of work to do (I wish I did this full time!!) and then a long overdue family holiday, not to mention the research and editing for this vid. I'm properly back now to my weekly videos and plenty in the pipeline now with this bedroom refurb. Spot on advice Mike, and totally get what you say about your De Walt situation at work. I have to say I'm the same and have got into the habit recently of just clicking on the 4Ah or 5Ah batteries and pretty much leaving the 1.3Ah others behind. But I have a little 12v Ryobi drill driver that the carpenter who works for me loves - primarily because it's so light and it's become my tool of choice for general light weight jobs, so I'll be using the 2Ah battery more often now as I was seriously impressed with its run time, and it takes so much weight out of the tool.

    Not long bought their brushless reciprocating saw and am very impressed by it especially for the price. Great battery life and we were going through oak which is a good test for any tool. Because of how good the saw is am now looking at a drill. My only gripe was how much the R saw weigh, its a beast but I think that's actually in its favour because I didn't notice the vibration off this compared to the more expensive ones and you just have to hold the saw and let it do the work. Definitely worth considering their line of products.

    Brilliant, I’ve always wondered what the difference is between an impact driver and a drill with hammer action. Thanks.
    I’ve always admired your videos as you explain things clearly and concisely.
    Just one thing I’d add - I use my current Bosch impact drill with socket bits when working on my classic car. I will now consider getting an impact driver as that would seem more suited to tight bolts now you’ve explained the difference in hammer action.
    Thanks

    Hi Charlie, I used to be a pro industrial electrician for 25 years up until about 1999 when I moved in to management. These days all our guys use battery power tools usually Makita or Milwaukee. I recently bought the Ebauer SDS battery drill and I'm amazed at the power and quality for the price. It's as good as the Bosch GBH24 which was one of the first battery rotary hammers produced. It used to eat NiCad batteries back then b ut fortunately we've gone through two technology upgrades since then with NiMH and now LiIo. You can also buy Erbauer from Screwfix who are the same company as B&Q, just with better sales and after sales service. Great video, thanks.

    Hi Charlie
    Firstly just like to say as a DIYer I love your videos they have helped me achieve great results in all my projects. They are easy to follow, comprehensive and the quality is excellent, unlike many others I have watched.
    I purchased a twin pack ( combo & impact driver) from Screwfix on offer a few months ago and I agree with you they are brilliant. I do struggle with the impact driver some times it's brutal, but so effective.
    One thing a friend recommended using spax screws with the impact driver and I have to say they are much easier to drive in than pozi screws the spax bit doesn’t get chewed up.
    Keep the videos coming

      Thanks William! So glad to hear you're getting on well with them! Totally agree about the Spax. I assume you're talking about their torx bits? For some reason we're lagging way behind other countries with our obsession with pozi drive. I'm seriously tempted to get a few boxes of torx and robertson head screws to replace all my pz screws.

    Great review Charlie. I agree with your general point of having more than one drill. I have an 18V drill/driver and an impact driver (mine are De Walt) and these cover every base. I also agree that having a range of batteries is good - for me 5Ah and 2Ah cut it.

      Thanks Roddy. Agreed and I've just done a new video going into the differences in a bit more detail. I think the key is to realise that combi drills aren't the one stop shop people think they are, because the Janet action is so limited when it comes to drilling into concrete. ruclips.net/video/sL-t2Zc4wCs/видео.html

    Got some Erbauer gear to replace my old tools and I'm very impressed. Got the circular saw, drill driver, impact driver and electric planer all with 4ah battery. Can't fault any of them and the charge in the batteries seem to last forever with the drill and impact driver. Obviously the planer and the circular saw are more demanding which runs the battery down quicker but still last longer than I thought they would. Building a shed in the garden and the Erbauer tools coped with it easily without a problem 👍👍👍👍

    I have the erbauer circular saw. It's an incredibly will built piece of kit. The batteries seem like high grade batteries too. They last a long time and charge quickly. Very pleased with the quality - much better than the feel of dewalt tools I've handled recently.

      @@CharlieDIYte I haven't seen the sds in action but I'm sure it'll be good if it's anything like my saw. I'm hoping I can also get some erbauer compatible batteries so that I don't have to keep buying erbauer ones if I decide to get more of their tools, though I suppose they're not that expensive compared to say the ryobi ones (I have lot of ryobi tools!). But I've got a mixture of genuine and non genuine ryobi batteries that both perform brilliantly with comparable run times too 👍
      How would you compare the ryobi impact with the erbauer? I have a brushed ryobi impact that performs really well (and I know they make several but I'm not sure which one is the most compact...?), but I'd like to get an 18v one that is physically as small as possible to reduce weight in my hand. Any thoughts on that score?

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  5 лет назад +2

      The Erbauer is incredibly small and light. I'd say the brushed Ryobi impact driver I've got still edges it, in terms of the responsiveness and general "feel" when you're using it, but it's much heavier and obviously less efficient on battery power being brushed. So if you've got a few Erbauer batteries and are looking to replace your impact driver, the Erbauer would be a no brainer!

    • @kurttallon
      @kurttallon 5 лет назад

      @@CharlieDIYte I figured you'd have one of the brushless ryobi impact for some reason lol There are 3 different impacts on the ryobi EU website, but it's hard to appreciate the differences and size without seeing them which is a little frustrating tbh. I've seen one guy in the USA on here that has 3 and one is really small, but he doesn't say which model it is and we may well not be able to get it over here in the UK anyway...I'd be happy to get another ryobi impact as long as it was small enough however, because the one I have has never faced a task it can't handle, but it's a bit heavy when compared to a makita I've used recently which I loved for its small size/weight. I usually order my ryobi tools from Amazon - what about you?

    I can confirm Erbauer are trade ready tools. I have used them extremely hard in very dusty conditions. 120nm combi drill rip through floor boards. Recip saw is up there with big brands. Multi tool is incredible, sander works great except the end cap pops off the dust collectors only bad thing. Jigsaws also great. Angle grinder with diamond disk cuts through brick with ease. 6A fast charger and air cooling is top quantity also. I'm happy I got Erbauer kit. I would say the 5AH battery rips harder than the 4AH Elite cell. Because it has twice the amount of cells you can draw more current though. I don't own the impact driver because I have another more powerful brand but I would buy it.
    I own the Einhell SDS drill and a few other bits from them but honestly Erbauer feel more trade rated. I'm on my 3rd SDS drill they keep breaking after heavy hammer use.

      @@CharlieDIYte The Einhell SDS has 2.2j and 5500 BPM. It also only weighs 2.1kg and comes with a free battery and charger starter kit at Wickes. The switch on it also has a button lock, the handle has inbuilt shock absorber and the battery is at the rear of the tool for better ballance. On this occasion Einhell SDS tops Erbauer quite easily. Although as mentioned I'm on my 3rd one! Serious heavy use. Definitely more than average as Iv been wall chasing on hammer action flat out in a dusty renovation project . Also Erbauer wall chaser is no good! Only goes 30mm deep and the disc spins the wrong way youbhave to use it backwards! I have the Titan 40mm wall chaser and it's much better. I do like to pick and choose, I'm not loyal to a brand instead I have multiple different brands and loads of different batteries. Erbauer impact driver 160nm and 3400bpm didnt impress me when its still 145mm long but the buttons and trigger do feel really good and I get the impression it would last well. As a Mechanic by first trade I needed impact wrench and driver to be a heavy hitter not a half sender. Lol. I genuinely feel defeated if I have to use a hand tool now days. Pretty much have a power tool for every occasion. No track saw however that would come in handy I'm sure. I just got the Evolution 300mm Electric disc cutter with dust suppression. Not used yet but that's my latest investment for the windows, doors and lintels. I think full mechanics and property renovation are skills that will serve me well so I don't mind investing in kit if that makes sense.

      @S M You should tell your doctor about that. They will try and help with your mental health. The Erbauer 120nm drill is hard to beat even buying Makita, Milwaukee. Hardly anyone makes such a powerful drill. If what your emplying is someone with over £50,000 in tools including a scaffold tower and been in the trade for over 16 years would he shown the door for turning up with one of the most powerful drills money can buy then you are the type of person who would struggle even finding someone to do the job.
      P.s. the average loss someone makes on a kitchen is £4000. Average spend is £7000 on the kitchen and the if you can't fit it yourself because you don't know how and have to pay someone else to do it for you then you then that would suck to be you but that would cost you around £1000 and your property will have probably gained £3000 in value. Remember. If you can't do it yourself then you are in no position to judge someone who can. Why can't you fit a kitchen? It's literally easy level 1 apprentice easy.

    Hi Charlie, just come across your video here. I wonder if you could tell me how you found the combi weight wise? The EDD doesn't seem to be in stock anymore and they only stock the brushed and brushless combi's which are apparently 1.13 and 1.8kg. I am a DIYer and have needed to get a decent drill for a while now and am torn between the lesser powerful EBCD and the ECD. I generally like to future proof myself when it comes to equipment/tools so any advice would be greatly appreciated. NB: the lesser EBCD comes with 2 x 2Ah batteries, slow charger and softcase and the more powerful ECD comes with 1 x 4Ah battery and the fast charger, plus a hardcase! Thanks in advance :)

    I've owned a few Erbauer tools and on the whole they've been ok. However, my major beef is that should they develop a problem outside of the warranty period, (which a coupe, of mine did) spare parts and repairs are simply not available. This makes the tools effectively disposable which for me just isn't acceptable, either for the price paid or in a world where environmental awareness is growing with importance.
    For these reasons I now stick to Makita and have invested heavily in their platform, never running into the problems above.
    I'd be interested to know whether this new supplier of Erbauer tools have fixed this issue - anyone from Kingfisher reading this I'd be interested to know the answer.....

      I hear what you say Darren. These are a big jump up in spec and quality from previous Erbauers so it will be interesting to see how they fare long term. Initial feedback seems to be good though.

      I feel like they're so cheap they're not worth fixing though, i have a Milwaukee with a motor that's completely shagged and even with that you can buy a whole new drill for not much more than a replacement motor. I like the option of fixing things but most of the time it's really not worth it, certainly not on these since they're cheap to begin with

    I have an Erbauer combi hammer drill and an oscillator saw. Had them for a few years. A lot of use. I can honestly say having used other DeWalt and Makita tools, for the money they are very good. The addition of larger Ah batteries is better. Used to come with 2 Ah batteries as standard. Felt under powered sometimes. Chuck on one drill developed some play after over a years use. It was warrantied and upgraded to new model with zero hassles at Screwfix. Happy with product and service. Bad points, currently living in NZ and can't find replacement batteries. New EXT batteries don't seem to fit older model tools.

    I initially bought an Erbauer combi drill and impact after my 8 piece Milwaukee set was stolen and I was in need of a couple of drills for a job. I have to say that i've been impressed with them. So much so that I have since purchased a pad sander, jigsaw and site lights.
    The drills have taken a beating, haven both fallen through floorboards to the floor below (no plasterboards on the GF ceiling). I have installed three boilers and use them every day to install and maintain plumbing and heating systems
    I didn't realise that my combi drill is not the highest spec. It's the unit that comes in the twin pack. This combo drill does have a hammer action but as pointed out in this video, the body isn't quite as wide. The combo drill I have is still powerful enough to mean I don't always need to get my hammer drill out of the van and until watching this video, I thought that it was the highest spec drill.
    I would definitely recommend these power tools.

    Hi again Charlie, I will watch the video you linked thank you.
    I’m after an impact driver for general diy. Currently doing a lot of work with the property we are in, new floors, walls down etc.
    I find the combi drills tend to slip off the screw head a lot and whilst I can manage, it’s nice to have more tools!
    Recently got a bauker 12v driver and it’s amazing, saves me messing around changing drill bits.
    I looked at the erbauer impact driver for £110 but found quite a lot of negative reviews on the trigger being faulty, not just slight delay. So I thought about sticking with ryobi but they are more expensive.
    Interestingly I bought an erbauer reciprocating saw recently to cut a flush edge off the old p5 t and g flooring and thought it was great. I tend to forget brand loyalty when it comes to corded stuff!

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Wes. The Erbauer impact is fine but I don't use it very often and if anything it lacks a bit of sensitivity on the trigger although it's a powerful little tool. A guy I used to work with on the day job loves his DeWalt. I have no stand out recommendations though. I think it's a question of looking round and seeing what deals you can find. I agree Ryobi are getting a bit pricey these days.

    Hi Charlie, yet again another brilliant and informative video. Would you believe it my old Black and Decker mains drill along with my Bosch cordless drill have finally both packed up. I got your update and watched this video with interest as I was looking for replacements.
    I'm presently putting LED tube lighting and floorboards down in my huge loft along with replacing the 1960's insulation so I decided to purchase the Drill Driver and the Impact Driver along with fast charger and two 4.0 Ah batteries. I have been using them all over the Bank Holiday weekend and I could not be happier. They are fantastic, battery life and power are great. I love the brushless technology which I had never heard of and which my son who is a full time fire fighter tells me that is what they are switching all their tools over to.
    So I have only had them for a long weekend now and I am very impressed so far, oh by the way I purchased mine from Screwfix which I tend to use most of the time and they worked out slightly cheaper but not much.
    Chris

      Wow, what a comment - thanks so much for taking the time to pen that, Chris! Really glad to hear you agree with me on these tools. Got to say, when I was researching them to decide if I was happy to make the video I did an excel comparison table pitting their specs against the competition from De Walt, Makita, Bosch etc and they did admirably. I wish I'd included the comparisons but combination of preparing the vid, manic work and preparing to go on a long overdue family holiday, they never made the final cut. Suffice to say I think you'll struggle to get better specs for the price. Really glad you like them! Thanks again!

    Note to my U.K. Bretheren: These are in no way, shape, or form the same tools previously branded under Erbauer. The previous generation were manufactured alongside what is called WORX brand here in the States. WORX are known for being funky, odd tools with mediocre at best quality. These EXT tools are manufactured by Chervon. They are carbon copies of the newly resurrected by Chervon Skil brand here in the U.S.(Although, painted to look as Bosch as possible lol) As both tool lines are relatively new, I can't directly comment on the longevity, but Chervon manufactures some very good, high value tools. It seems you guys didn't get the 5 year warranty we did, but you get slightly better pricing, from what I can see. Also, the keep cool lingo that they use is actually way more awesome than the description. It's actually a polymer material wrapped over the cells in the battery that phase-changes at a certain temperature to create an endothermic reaction. This thereby reduces the temperature of the cells. It was pioneered in power tools on Chervon's EGo brand, which is essentially the top ranked battery powered home and professional landscaping tool brand here in the States.

      I'm always interested where these types of tools are really manufactured. And (after a bit of googling), I think that you're absolutely right. I haven't checked the spec sheets, it is possible that they have changed one or 2 things in the UK Erbauer branded tools (or not). I see the Chevron Skil tools are 20v, whereas these are 18v. But thanks for the info.

    • @BeanoNoir
      @BeanoNoir 4 года назад

      @@andytaylor8820 Yessir. 20V and 18V are functionally the same. 20V is a max voltage rating, whereas 18V is nominal voltage. Both imply the use of five cells in series. I think the biggest difference I can see is that the impact driver on the Skil line has multiple modes, whereas the Erbauer is left with good old-fashioned variable trigger only.

      That's a tricky one Nick. I take it you watched my video on the Milwaukee bit.ly/3sxpfw5 I use that Milwaukee all the time now, only using the Erbauer when I need a second tool in a situation (so I'm not constantly changing bits). My carpenter mate John always gravitates to that or its predecessor that little 12v Ryobi you might have seen in some of my earlier videos, when he helps me on jobs. It's just so light and handy so if it was me I'd probably go for the Milwaukee. I'm intrigued to know how the BDD handles without the percussion but as they were both the same price I thought I'd go with the BPD. Maybe the non hammer action version is lighter, but it didn't seem to be, in the specs.

The impact driver in particular is alot better than the comparable dewalt offering. The only issue with the current range is the 18v sds looks a little timid compared to the previous generation 36v version which I also own have abused the life out of and it just keeps going. When it eventually dies I think ill give the 18v current gen model a miss and go for milwaukee or something more heavy duty as the new erbauer one does not look like it will take the same abuse as the previous model.

      Hi Mark. My advice would be to invest in an SDS rather than a combi. Because the drill driver you have is the holy grail for most jobs - a very capable light weight drill driver. I hardly ever pick up the combi. It's too heavy for small jobs around the home, and when you are likely to need it, typically for drilling into brickwork, even then the hammer action on any combi is pretty rubbish if I'm honest. My advice would be to get one of these if you can stretch to it bit.ly/30M374N I know it's £150 but with a 4Ah battery included you're getting a lot of tool for your money.

Just bought the twin battery charger so am locked into this B&Q system and expect to use Black Friday to blind side spouse as an excuse for purchasing the SDS!

    they look like really great tools. As i have already bought into the stanley fatmax system with the brushless combi drill kit (including 2 batteries and a charger) i will likely stay with that system. but a great video on the key differences between combi drill, drill driver and impact driver, and brushless is definitely the way to go. The impact driver is next on my list to purchase for exactly the reasons you pointed out at the end of the video. As a home diyer the combi drill has been great but swapping from drill bits to screwdriver bits is such a pain and time consuming. So having 2 dedicated tools would really help, plus the added torque of the impact driver would be so useful.

      Hi there. Thanks for the comment! Yes, that will be a great addition to your collection. How are you finding the Fatmax power tools? Love the Fatmax range but all my power tools are Ryobi - for the same reason as you - the battery system has kept my loyalty over the years!

    • @Papafou
      @Papafou 5 лет назад

      Really like the system so far. I have always like Stanley hand tools and it good to see the quality continues in their power tools. When I got the combi drill I was borrowing a friend's DeWalt brushed motor drill driver at the time so I did a little comparison test and it was clear that I'd made the right choice going brushless. I am only a home DIYer but nothing I have asked the fatmax combi drill to do it has had a problem with. I have built a garden fence from reclaimed palettes, put heavy-duty bolts on doors, secured gate posts to concrete walls, built a work bench in my shed with side and end vices. I only have 2x 2ah batteries but only need to swap them out once if doing a full day's work. Sure other premium bands might have better long term durability or things like dust and water protection but I'm no professional and don't need construction site durability, nor are my pockets deep enough for that kind of high end tool. For mid range kit though I can't fault it. Last week I did however just buy those erbauer impact driver bits you showed in the video, 1 pozi and 1 Phillips set from B&Q as the standard double ended bit that came with the drill was starting to get chewed up. I've only put in a hundred or so screws in with the number 2 pozi but first impressions are good, and a good investment for when I get an impact driver.

      @CharlieDIYte  5 лет назад +1

      Cheers for that Oli. Good question. My old Ryobi is the same as yours in that respect! It's curious that they've added a separate driver setting. The only thing I can say - as I found in the video when I screwed into that piece of oak - is that the drill setting allows you to override the clutch when you're using it in speed 1, to give you max torque. But you can probably do that anyway on yours by switching to the max torque setting - or does the clutch still kick in on that?

    Hi Charlie, maybe you can help. I have an Erbauer Combi Drill (4 ah battery) and I see you used it to drill into a tree trunk. Well, I am having problems just screwing down my squeaky chipboard floor. Even on first gear and 23rd torque setting, using 45mm Floor Tite flooring screws, the screw only goes in at best about 2/3 before the drill refuses to go any further. I've looked under the floor and I note that there is a narrow beam of timber (ply I think, blonde in colour, about an inch thick), which sits atop the joist between the joist and the timber floor. All I can think of is that this may be too dense to penetrate. Before I resort pre drilling all the holes I hoped you might have some insight to help solve the problem. Up till now the drills been performing well but on less demanding jobs. Its the kind of job I thought the combi would be OK with. Love the videos, learnt a lot, keep it up. Thanks. Steve Price.

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  4 года назад

      Hi Steve. I'm wracking by brains to think what could be causing this as the combi should be plenty strong enough to bury that screw. Have you tried drilling a test pilot hole just to see if you can get the screw all the way in. How many screws have you experienced this problem with? It must be something harder like metal you're hitting. Even oak shouldn't stand in the way. It's a shame you don't have an impact driver. Thanks for the kind comments 👍

    Interesting video charlie, I notice that Kingfisher Group (parent brand of screwfix and B&Q) have changed their suppliers for the Erbauer brand recently as the new EXT tools do not follow the same battery standards as the previous generation. Screwfix have sold Erbauer for years. I think this is really the problem, when you buy a drill you are really buying into the platform and with the cordless tools getting better and cheaper all the time you want to make the right choice at the outset as it's so much cheaper to buy bare tools. But if the battery standards are then changed your stuffed. Although these tools look OK I think the extra money would be better spent on Dewalt, Makita etc. A "Pro" banded tool will also retain it's value in the second hand market should you wish to upgrade later. Anyhow thanks for the video, have a good weekend

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  5 лет назад

      Hi Bill, good to hear from you and massive thanks for the comment. Yes I think they've ditched the previous battery system to embrace this EXT system going forward, but other brands are also guilty of this. A carpenter who works a lot for me had this problem when he upgraded his De Walt combi a year ago. I've always loved my Ryobi tools because they've never changed the battery system housing but I've got to say I think even they will have to make the plunge at some point as the stalk design of their battery is very restrictive on the design of the tool and limits their ability to, for example, combine two batteries into a 36v capacity for their chain saw like Makita have done. These new Erbauers are such a jump up in terms of spec from their previous tools and the batteries comparatively so cheap (my 5Ah Ryobi cost me the thick end of £100 when I bought it!!) with any luck existing Erbauer users will forgive them the change, but let's see!

    • @billconiston8091
      @billconiston8091 5 лет назад +1

      @@CharlieDIYte Hi Charlie, your right perhaps I'm being a little harsh, there's no guarantee a battery system for any will be available going forward from any manufacturer and there are a good number of tools available now for the Erbauer system so perhaps not such an issue. My fist Ni-Cd drill was an Erbauer :)
      Really for the price I guess we should be comparing with Bosch green level equipment rather than the "pro" category and from that perspective it's a really good option. 2 year warranty too. Important to note that the cheap "pro" tools are probably worse than the Erbauer - plastic chucks etc (the usual stuff always on offer at £100) but to step up to the real mid-range pro gear it's probably 50%+ cost.
      Totally agree with you regarding weight too on the drill driver, I rarely use hammer on my combi just use the SDS instead. A lighter weight tool makes all the difference and unlike the pro's we don't need 5/6ah batteries to lug around all day!

      I have a 18V impact erbauer with 150 Nm and bolts go in wood like in butter. Can't say much for 12V erbauer as I use the 18V platform but from the single 90 Nm spec knowing how impact drivers work and seeing 60 Nm DeWalt combi drill in action driving bolts I would be confident that 12 V erbauer will handle screws in soft wood. Currently I am doing a DIY wooden stable (10 m x 3 m) with my erbauer tools (circular saw, impact driver and multitool) with 2 x 4Ah batteries and they all do the job. I was impressed how the circluar saw ripped through 42 mm thick wooden board on a distance of 4 meters. Working under such load that single cut drained the battery by approx 25% and left it warm but it performed.
