I really like it. Love the lockers and the fact it isn’t as wide as some of the others and more useable for trails near me
You can get a slide that fits in your hitch to stop the bumper damage, I have one on my gladiator works great.
I bought one of those for my Colorado ZR2!
Got one in my 4runner as well. Works wonderfully
This channel showed one a long time ago. Don’t know why they don’t use it.
Can you link?
It can be used as a wheel chock, a anchor, loop your tow strap in it, step, and skid.
Couple of throw away skid plates on the bottom of the bumper and you are good to go. The hitch is a tool and totally fine to take some abuse IMO. I guess the bumpers are too but you generally like those to stay straight and pretty. Very capable and well set up truck. The dead horse hasn’t been beat enough, needs 35’s just to carry its own size and compliment the ZR2 abilities for sure though.
A skid mark hitch skid plate would have prevented the hitch and bumper damage for $200. Well worth it in my book.
So basically a very off-road capable truck that won’t penalize you as a daily driver.
But charges you monthly 😂
@@JC71444 in the form of a payment?
@@Otownbassin and gas
@@Tallnerdyguy that’s why I drive a custom trail boss with out a 6.2. Can’t afford a 70k or premium fuel. Some people can afford both though.
YES 👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for sacrificing your rig on these tests. Picked mine up 2 weeks ago. Now I don't have to guess what mine can do.
Precisely why I subscribe.
Great video, I appreciate you guys putting clips from the trail boss and raptor in to compare. I have 2021 trail boss so it's nice to see the differences. Thanks
Andre, After watching you guys so many times testing vehicles at Moab we decided to try it ourselves. Our tour in a side by side on Fins and Things and Hell's Revenge was awesome. Now it gives me a better understanding of how good the trucks are to negotiate some of the obstacles that are there. Great Job! And of course now I envy your job even more. Thanks!
That drop onto the hitch, damn that hurt.
Nice truck, great review, entertaining! You probably improved the departure angle a little bit with that hit. When you sell it, dub it upgraded.
Great, you're doing great! All important information and technical data presented calmly, factually, competently and in an entertaining manner. Thanks very much.
Andre testing out the limit of the truck.. BRILLIANT! she's a beauty
That silverado is a beauty...thank you Andrey
Pretty impressed. Great review Andre. 👏
That truck would be beautiful with the 3L diesel!
Agree 100% i have the 3.0L in my 2021 rst. Phenomenal fuel economy and torque
They will put it in, they need something to keep sales going in a few years.
@@kurtf31r The GMC AT4x has the diesel as a option.
Sharp looking truck & off road looks to be really good also. Good job Andre. 👏
Love this truck! I think the truck did an amazing job as did Andre, even without a spotter. I’m not sure, but I think a slightly different line on the last obstacle would have avoided the bumper and just scraped the hitch but all in all, very impressive. 👍🏻👍🏻
You inspired me.
I took my 2023 ZR2 here this past week.
Family road trip.
I have a ARE cap on my truck, loaded with everything for the family to camp and my wife and two kids and did this same thing. So I had more weight.
The only differences i experienced was i didnt scrape on the frame bender, and i did plow a little on the hitch scraper (Scraped the same way on departure there)
Thanks for the video and inspiration to test the limits of my rig and myself.
Good review. I might have to look into getting one of these.
🇺🇸👍🏻
Nice review, got some scratches, showing the real work
needed a new video from yall today!
That maybe the hardest I’ve ever seen a hitch hit on the frame bender in your videos. “No scratches” except for the huge scratch on the bumper. 😂
I’m a Chevrolet salesperson and I was wildly curious to see something like this. This would be great to send to my customers. Thank you for testing this machine out!
Great job Andre. That’s a nice truck from GM. Finally.
Andrea your in trouble
Where is Ronan’s hitch plug? Lololol
What an incredible truck. Chevy!
Junk mobile
35 inch tires on this truck would make it even more capable. Nice truck, great video..
I really like the Silverado Zr2. Chevy did a heck of a great job on the package overall!
I do wish the rear shocks weren't mounted so low.
Not a deal breaker.
They sell a relocation kit for the Colorado, I bet they'll do the Silverado too
I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of the look when It was first announced but honestly in this It looks so much better. Should be pretty neat when companies start making parts for it
Don't sweat it with the trail scrapes, Andre! This is the ZR2, they show character!
Ahh Fins and Things... the trail where my buddy and I laughed most of the way through in a stock JK 2 door Rubicon as he got out of the Jeep and danced on the roof as it crawled over obstacles and occasionally needed me to nudge the steering wheel to keep us on track...
Great video guys, that's a nice addition to the lineup, not a TRX but it's still a real nice truck
Very Nice love too have one. A few weeks ago in Flagstaff AZ I saw a couple of ZR2 Silverados still having some heavy camouflage on the front and back of them. Could it be the Bison?
Boy I Loved Off-Road Trucks Because Of Them Off-Road Tires Which Are My Favorites The 33 Inches.
Very impressive performance by the Silverado ZR2 Chevy nailed it with this truck.
That was much better than I expected. Buy some good spray paint for the hitch and your all good 👍.
Those lockers are gold.
Great video!
Ditch cruising u took the shallow line as with the video u shared with the trail boss. Than the raptor took the deeper part of the ditch crossing. I've been there to moab on fins and things and I can c u were baby'ng that truck. But the front locker is a good game chamber. Can't argue there. Now Ford and dodge need to start doing that for their half tons
Hitch makes a good skid plate. More sacrificial knobs on the bumpers might save some paint
I was having the same facial reactions 🤣 as it was scraping, very capable truck tho super impressive!!!!
Awesome video..
Love the truck but the color wouldn’t be my choice. I like a clean white. Prime and paint that hitch as soon as you can that way it doesn’t rust. You guys always do the best real world testing! Keep the videos coming on this beast👌🏽
Good review.
Nice truck.definitely tosses your head around more than the TRX or the newest raptor though with the leaf sprung rear end. IMO
Such a nice truck … some great options from Ford, Ram, & Chevy/GMC, but have to drop serious $$$.
That was a little fast on the drop for frame bender Andre lol another great video though, thanks
Are you guys gonna make one for the 2022 trailboss on moab? I wanted zr2 but really wanted that 3.0 as I enjoy it more then my previous 2021 6.2 trailboss and 2019 6.2 at4, I'd like to see how it handles in tough offroad courses considering you loose some ground clearance and the electronic lockers
I was also hoping for that zr2 to have 35 inch tall tires for more clearance
Story of your life? 2 inches short of useful?
@@nookbandit I’m so bummed that you got to that one first it was wide-open great comment
@@nookbandit hey oh!
When they stuck 32" on the Trail Boss instead of 33' like the Rebel and other trucks do, I knew that the ZR2 wasn't going to get full on 35" tires. They go slightly smaller to get better mpg rating. Plus they know most of their buyers are going to go bigger aftermarket anyways.
35s fit stock so no prob
If you’re in Moab and need a hitch slider Moab Metal Works makes them locally.
LOVE THIS !!
You guys need a receiver skid plate and a proper bleed down tire gauge from Viair.
I have basically that exact same gauge for off-road in my 2012 F-150...
Comment #7 my number of times that ive commented on such a great video again from the pro team of drivers n camera crew at TFL Rocks...oh there's another category for another channel of excellent videoography by the pro team at TFL..ROCK ON FELLAS...
I’ve never been a big Chevy fan, but I’m really liking this one. Chevy might have hit a home run here.
This is turning out to be probably superior to the gimmicky trucks. TFL is exceptional for showing reality without the fanboi stuff
just bought a zr2 but i cant let myself take it off road too expensive too mess up haha great vid!
Awesome review but I wish you would have included the HD camera footage as you were driving forward in the beginning of the video !
That frame bender bash hurt my soul!
Full-size trucks are getting more and more impressive with the off-road chops. However, I would pay big money to watch those rear shock towers get bent or make you stuck on a trail!
Taller tires would make this an ideal rig IMHO
What a beast of a truck
Did I see snow on the mountains still. Andre, let the people know that Green River, and Colorado River are flowing.
Beautiful it is about time Chevy stepped it up!! And what a step!!
That face on the hitch slide, LOL
Can I have that truck? My 01 silverado is the best truck ever but worn out lol. Just kidding, I'm working overtime saving up to buy one. Nice review!
I like the color. I wanted a Mojave ram 2500 but could only get that color with a power wagon and I’d rather tow 17,5k then 12k so I had to get a big horn. Gun metal. Maybe some day I could get it wrapped
I went through the same course with my 93 Camry!
Who cares!
I'm really liking the zr2. We can't get it here in Australia but if I was in the usa it's definitely the kind of truck I'd love to own. I rarely go for the top of the range luxury trucks or the most off road focussed of the factory trucks (like raptor etc). Thezr2 looks like a truck that hits a real sweet spot between offroad ability and real world utility for proper truck stuff like towing and day to day shopping/kids to school/going to work use. I'd probs still put some larger tyres on and get the motor tuned with a snorkel, intake mods, headers and exhaust though.
You can't get most of these trucks in the US either. Anything other than a mid end or low end truck the dealers are slapping 10 to $20,000 markup on it and never getting them in.
You should do a shootout between the new Silverado zr2, the ram rebel, and the ford tremor f150. They are more along the lines of pretty even as they aren’t on the level of the ford raptor and ram trx. Of course it should be on a trail like this which test their off-road prowess
Andre, great video, but would it had helped if you had of had 35’s instead of the 33’s? Just thinking.
Your facial expression said it all during the last challenge.
I’ve been watching your shows for a while now, and u should look into Carli suspension. the dominator 3.0 or the E venture system and compare to the raptor and trx
This doesn't really compete with the trd pro or tremor because neither of those have front selectable lockers. It's in a class of it's own above those two and below the halo trucks.
I think it's just as capable as the halo trucks. At least for slow off-roading, not desert running.
The Tremor is available with the torsen up front. Which in most situations, will work as well as a locker. Both have 33" tires, neither one has long travel suspension, or a wide body. It could be argued perhaps that the ZR2 is between the Tremor and the Raptor. But its super close to the Raptor on price.
It has way, way less wheel travel and articulation than a Raptor. The new Raptor has 14 inches front, and 15 rear, this has only 9 up front and 11 in the back. Quite frankly the ZR2 absolutely needs the lockers because the wheel travel it so short it's going to be lifting tires constantly on more technical trails.
The tremor is not fords halo truck, lol.
@@johnt6673 clearly your ability to read isn't that good...
The Truck is so damn long these things should come with 35s and wide body.
35s on this will make it that much Better!!!
I watched Ben Hardy take the zr2 to Moab a few days ago, but you guys do it way better with more variety of obstacles.
That's because they are TFL and they rock!!!!!!!!
"Did i hit the hitch or the tire?" lol you know damn well you hit that hitch with that metal on metal contact lol!!
Im new to all of this. Plan on buying a truck and trying to figure out which is best. Any suggestions? Im liking the Chevy route so far
Ugg, those shock mounts hanging below the rear axle.
Does this truck have an integrated step and security singlestick like the F-150? I like this very much as an upgrade to my Lariat but I really use a lot the integrated climb solution on the F150 to put all the stuff on the pickup.
Well done ZR2! I’d say better than most.
Man def my dream truck 😊
Love to see this truck on 35-36" tires...
I like Chevys I'm going to switch back to Chevy the steering box went on my Ford and put me in the ditch in just about killed me after I changed it the second time good job y'all
Good job Andre. Also the ZR2 performed well, but I need you to stop being so scared of everything. You're like Scooby-Doo 🤣🤣. I hope you don't 💩 on yourself from being so wound up 😂😂
The lockers are the selling point.
Back armour hitch would have help !
Very impressive
Andre, Great video as usual. Hurry and get all the towing and mileage reviews done then slap some 35" KO2's on that bad boy and do the same trip. Should be all it needs.
i wonder if Mexico going to get Reg Cab ZR1... hope someone would let TFL use there Reg Cab short bed 1500 truck soon
In Europe (Germany) we can only dream about those Trucks. Not because we cannot afford them, but just because we don’t have enough space (parking spots, etc…)
Go for singl cap🤓
Move to America
Just take 2 spots
Few European suvs like the range rover, BMW x7, vw tiguan and touareg, Audi Q7 and Q8, porsche cayenne and long station wagons such as the Audi RS6 avant and Mercedes E63 Wagon are not large enough in Europe?
If it came with 35s and rock sliders it would be a home run.
You can get it with factory rock sliders, they just didn't option theirs with it. Agree on the 35s.
I’ve been a fan of the channel for years but testing always is on rocks. In the Midwest it’s all about the mud where speed is your friend(Nathan). Be nice to see how they handle in sticky mud.
You should go to the Truck King channel. He used to work at TFL but now has his own channel. It’s in Canada and he tests a lot of the same trucks in muddy places.
@@JonBecker81 I know. I subscribe to them also, but I was talking about TFL. Yes there are many others that do it, no argument there.
Love it
Here in the northeast Salt belt we would be more impressed with a chevy that would resist rust underneath more than rock damage.. I would have never taken that beautiful 90k dollar truck through this . But it does get views.
You guys should've gotten rock rails
What’s the clearance from the bottom of the rear shocks. Seems like they’re just begging to be messed up.
Someone should develop some kind of ball bearing system which is engineered into to the bottom of the trailer hitch so that when it's about to scrape, it just rolls over the obstacle.
Please try 2022 f150 tremor 402a package
You should take those obstacles at an angle when you can. Less chance of hitting the hitch.
