My deepest apologies to the people who were watching me from across the park while I was filming myself repeatedly spitting water out. Trust me -- I was as mortified as you were.
"Is this the perfect camera... for me?" is a great question to propose. I work at a video production company and we use a variety of Sony cameras and I personally purchased a Fujifilm x100F recently to add to my A7III. And honestly the Fujifilm x100F puts out more cinematic pictures than anything we use including, A7III, A7SIII, A7IV, FX3. there's just something incredible about Fuji's color science and sensors.
I love this. I think we too often try to find the perfect camera, thinking that what the internet states is “the best” is “best for us,” when that can sometimes be furthest from the truth. I love the X100 series! I have the V, and it’s hands down my favorite camera of all time.
@@Christopher_Ray Exactly! I think it's good to buy used, or try your friends' cameras. You never know what you'll love. Shoot with what you love and what makes you love shooting.
What I love about this video is that it’s just as entertaining for someone who just so happened to stumble upon it as it is for someone who intentionally found it to learn more about the vast amount of camera choices out there. 12/10 made me laugh and you are so very talented.
Those are always the best kinds of YT videos. I have no intention of buying a Fuji camera (at least at the moment.) but you gotta love those kinds of videos where you just get sucked in. THIRTEEN/10 will watch again. ;)
Really well said! Owning and using a Fuji camera is a culture of sorts. For me, it took photography from hobby to obsession. Like you said, the camera begs to be handled and used. It can't just be sat on a shelf. It's a muse of sorts. Tools are this way for me as well. In Carpentry or mechanical work, sometimes there are tools I want to use or processes that I look forward to going through, and it inspires the work. I once carried a new screwdriver everywhere I went for 2 weeks until I got to use it! Not everyone is this way, but who cares what drives your ambition as long as you're out there doing the thing!
I did the same here, I had an R6, and an R. Traded the R for an X-T4 thinking that it would be a better backup as the spec was so similar to R6 other than the sensor size. It was so much lighter, and had better video control, so I found myself reaching for the X-T4 and hardly using the R6. I ended up selling the R6 and all my canon lenses to get the X-H2s. Full Fuji boi now.. and coulndt be more happy. Sooooo much fun.
@@carlosr.2027 it's all up to you how you are going to use it, is it the best camera .... for you, for me not really I do require weather proofing to my camera to protect it from difficult weather condition and yes the classic look of x-t4 and x-t5 is love at first ....
Oddly enough, I switched from the x-t4 to the a7iv. I just had so many problems with my auto focus all the time. I could never tell if my photos were in focus until I’d get them onto the computer and too frequently they weren’t. Once I switched to primarily pet and baby photography the animal eye af came in very handy. For personal use, it’s pretty much family photo/video and daily life. The slow intentional feel of the fuji line didn’t quit fit my needs despite being a camera I loved. Just needed a device that could think for me half the time and one I could effectively use as a tool the other half.
I've been shooting XT-3 for a while, and often get camera envy when looking at the Sony A7IV. But every time I think about whether that is my next camera, I pick up a friend's Canon and realise just how unfun it is. The Fuji experience makes photography exciting, so glad you made the switch!
You nailed it! “Unfun” is the best way to describe how I was feeling towards the end of my Canon run. No disrespect to Canon users! I was just not enjoying the process anymore. Thanks for watching and for sharing the Fuji love. 🙏
My fun is in photoshop/LR so a full frame makes more sense however a smal Fuji crop sensor with recipes and straight out of Camera Jpegs sounds like fun too.
@@MrMarco7ify Yeah man if that's what you enjoy then lean into it! I find the feeling of 'crafting' a photo from scratch, all manual and all dials to give me a sense of pride that editing alone doesn't do. But glad you have found what works best for you!
Don’t get me wrong - I love editing. For client work, or stuff for the gram, I don’t mind it as a street and portrait photographer. But a huge portion of my work is documentation/everyday life/personal photos, and I just want to be able to take those photos quickly and move on. Fuji makes this process fun, easy, and beautiful all at once. Give it a try some time!
Couldn't agree more with you!! There is something definitely special about the "look" of these Fuji cameras, they are simply beautiful! Let alone the color science and film simulations! I am myself in the process of making the leap from Sony to Fuji so thank you for comforting me in my choice!
This is actually a similar story to how I ended up shooting Fuji😃I got a XT100 when I was just getting in to photography (about four years ago) for many of the same reasons (having had it recommended to me, size, and price). And that little entry level camera performed so well, and produced such amazing images, that when I finally grew out of it.... I went straight for the X-H2S😅 And I couldn't be happier!😊
Hey man! Happy I found you and this video!! I got the A7IV when it was released from another Sony body, but previously shooting on Canon. I never got used to Sony, and didn't feel like I loved the camera as one should. I was always attracted to Fuji, but had never tried one. Finally made the leap and got an xt4 this spring. I've only been using it since, but still haven't let go of my Sony, but I think it's time as it's just collecting dust at this point!
Rune, what an awesome story! It's so crazy how even though, on paper, the A7IV should be a better camera than the X-T4, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to what FEELS GOOD to YOU. It's not always about the specs, and I love it. Thanks for watching, and thanks for sharing!
I am completly agree with all the things you explained, especially the similarity with an analogic camera, and the film simulations database, the black and white adding shadows, hilight and film grain, is something that other brand will never give!! But I work with the XT3 and an Alpha 7/3, each one of these complete the other. Thanks for this special Video
I bought the fuji for some of the same reasons. I wanted better video abilities and the fuji was recommended everywhere as the ultimate hybrid. Initially I was a bit underwhelmed but the more I used it the more I loved it. I used to spend hours and hours tinkering with pictures in lightroom and then photoshop with my old Nikon D5600. With the fuji most of what I do is bump the shadows slightly, apply film simulation and it looks great, I don't feel like there's anything more I can add by continuing to edit. It's incredibly kind to skin, I'm often shocked at how it makes peoples skin look better than what it actually was. I take photos at my local town festival in Ireland so blushed skin is common, I used to do every one the favour of reducing the reds on the face. Not necessary with the fuji for some reason. In Davinci resolve the skin tones are nearly always in the perfect position on the vectorscope without doing anything.
That’s so awesome. It really sounds like Fuji is the perfect system for YOU! I love how much my workflow has improved. Getting a RAW photo to a point I’m happy with doesn’t take nearly as long, thanks to the colors and film simulations, and shooting in JPG is so much fun. I agree with you on skin tones. I don’t struggle nearly as much with getting those right as I have in the past on other brands.
I own the A7IV and a Fuiji X100V and I agree with you the Fuji is so much nicer when using it for personal everyday stuff. The A7IV is amazing for client work. I am happy with both my cameras 😬
Amazing video! It was very fun to watch! Nice color grade as well. I went for Fuji a few years ago as well because of the JPEG colors mostly. I was tired of having to edit all my (non-work) pictures and loved the idea of clean exposure operation with the dials.
I have nothing to say about the video i just wanted to give you props for answering everyone of your comments with a real answer and not copy paste. Really cool of you man! Keep up the good work
I started with film photography, so going with Fuji was a no brainer for me. The xt4 is my first digital camera and I thought I’d pick it up less than my film cameras, but that’s not true! Sometimes I tear up from how much I love shooting with it
Literally me when falling in love with Sony's A7 line and researching for a year before going for my Fuji XT30 haha. I shot with my friend's XT20 and instantly realized I can get WAAAY more bang for my buck with VERY similar IQ and solid video with Fuji. Every point you made I couldn't have said better myself. It stands out, it's ergonomic, they keep their OG "film feel", and their X-Trans sensor is SO GENIUS!!! Fuji all the way. Their prices are unmatched for the quality they give.
1 minute in and you already pull the heart strings of your day today video/cinematographer and tastefully compare them to the 'influencers' well done my friend.
There was kind of the same dilemma for me. I was shooting with a Canon M50, and with the release of the A7IV, the price of the A7III dropped considerable on the used marked (as a lot of A7III users were selling theirs to finance the buy of an A7IV). So I sat down, and looked at the diffrent options that were available to me. I was doing a bit of event photography, and believe it or not I HAD SD card failures, and I had the M50 lock up on me once. And I realized that for the price of an A7III used (~1600 euros used) + a couple of lenses (35mm, 85mm and a telephoto, either a zoom or a prime, about 1500 euros AT LEAST for those used) I could buy a Fuji X-T2 AND a Fuji X-T1 as backup, a bunch of batteries, a 23, 35, 56 and 85 mm primes (so 35, 50, 85 and 130mm equiv), a 12-24 adapted zoom with an 18-135 general use lens. And also get myself some new SD card and a camera bag upgrade. Worst thing about it ? It never felt like I was downgrading in anyway. I almost never use fece detect and I prefer to put my focus point on actual people so the X-T2 is plenty good for that, video is the same if not better than in the A7III (4K30p with F-Log inernally, that's a treat). Sometimes you just have to look away from the obvious option everybody is pointing at
WOW! I love this! That’s a killer deal! I don’t blame you for not wanting to pass that up. The deal I got on my XT4 was insane as well. That’s so crazy - I was ALSO coming from an M50, and had been wanting to upgrade for at LEAST two years. I’m an over thinker and spent far too long researching and waiting for the “right camera” to come along, expecting it to be a Sony or high-end Canon. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon some Fuji photographers on RUclips (after a couple years of my friend whispering “come to Fuji” in my ear lol) that I saw them in a new light and was sold. :)
Something similar happened to me, I had a Canon 80D and was thinking about buying a full frame Sony and ended up buying a Fujifilm X-H1. And when you see the film simulation jpgs for yourself you realise how amazing Fujifilm are.
You made the right choice! Have a story for you : I was a canon shooter (dlsr), I decided to buy a XT3 for my pro work. Then I decided to go for the A7III given all the hype it gets, and sold my beloved XT3. I was REALLY disappointed! Didn't like the way it felt in hands, did a wedding shoot with both camera side by side, and see no difference (apart for the DOF, obviously). I decided to sell the A7III and buy another XT3! The autofocus for photos is very good, the only problem is the video AF, when set at multi zone / wide, the system is not as clever as the sony or canon cameras. I have the solution for you : if you set an autofocus box (single point) on your subject, you'll never lose autofocus! Cheers fuji mate lol
That’s crazy! Sometimes you’ve got to figure it out the hard way, but I’m glad you came back around! 😂 As far as AF for video, I’m with you! I use AF-C and a single box and track using that and it’s been pretty reliable. Thanks for sharing, and for watching! ✌️
@@Kadehr The issue with fuji is that it still has a bit of pulsating when finding focus. Doubt that videographers using fuji are hardcore manual mode film makers.
@@X99Zero definitely depends on the lens you are using and the settings in camera. Pair your xt3 with a sigma 18-35 for example, and you'll see it's a match made in heaven
My story is very similar. I switched from my Nikon Z6 to the Sony A7IV. I bought into the hype. A lot of it is true. It’s a great camera, the autofocus is great! But it’s not a as robust as my Nikon in any way. Even the IBIS was better on the Z6. There’s no perfect camera.
Nikon's IBIS is insane, I was worried about handheld video with longer zoom lens, but the result is pretty good. The main reason is the really large Z mount, which allows more room for the sensor to shift around. Sony E mount is barely enough for full frame sensor.
Wow. What a gem of a RUclips Channel! Instantly subscribed. Love the way you present information and tell your story. Perfect balance between voice and music, nicely edited video too. But what really made click those lovely buttons was your subtle sense of humour. I'm getting past tired of RUclipsr's "forcing it". This was just that perfect balance. Well done! You seem like a cool dude I'd be friends with too.
I have used both Sony and Fuji and finally sold off my XT4. The video quality in slog 3 is exceptionally pleasing with the right lut compared to fuji profiles. Also I had mine hang a couple of times during professional work.
Also a good choice! I was buying used, and the deal I got was excellent. I also own the XE4 and X100V, so being able to use lenses across the XT4 and XE4 was an added bonus. 👍
Good stuff. I recently switched to the A7IV and while I think it’s a fantastic camera and checks most boxes for client work, I just don’t think about picking it up for personal use. I keep coming back to videos about the XT-4. The images out of this camera are beautiful and just have this certain look that I find aesthetically pleasing. Love your style sir and can’t wait to see what else you create in the space…#subbed!
Totally agree! I’ve been carrying around the X100V as an everyday camera lately, and have been mainly using the XT4 as my video camera, but every time I shoot images with it, I’m always questioning why I don’t do it more! It’s really such a pleasure to use. I appreciate you, sir!
Sony for paid gig and Fuji for the love of photography where pixel peeping doesn't exist, shooting jpegs, fantastic film simulations & travelling with friends & family. Best combo out there.
I have both of these cameras. They are both fantastic in there own way. The xt4 has much better ibis, less 4k60 crop, 1080p 240, nicer color, no cfexpress needed, much less rolling shutter and costs $800 less. The a7iv has better autofocus, no record limit, a more comfortable body and a bit more dynamic range. It's a tough pick.
Most definitely. There’s pros and cons to both - it’s just a matter of deciding which set of cons you’re willing to work around. That dynamic range was something I knew I’d be missing out on! 😅
Duuuude, that intro!!! 🔥😍🤣🙌🏾👌🏾 My current setup is XT3 and X100V (worked great for my last pre-wedding photoshoot), and I'm also photo+video focused. I've put my EOS R up for sale (don't enjoy using it) and I'm looking to get a powerful video-capable camera. Looking at the HX2S and the FX3. If Fuji had a full-frame camera, I'd be all over it. The GFX series are beyond my budget and solid video is a big factor. Anyway, totally enjoyed your video. I feel you on all the reasons in favor of Fuji, Cheers to your XT4!
Haha thanks! And that’s awesome - I also have an X100V, and I love how you use it for pre-wedding shoots! I’m sure people are thrown off by how good that camera is based on its size! I feel you on the GFX series. It’s way out of my price range, but the X-H2S (that name, though 💀😵💫) is an excellent choice! I’m also drawn to the FX3, but I don’t want to have to invest into Sony glass at this point, considering I just switched 😅 Thanks for watching!
I'm still good with the A7iii, but i def agree with your decision, Fuji is killing the aesthetic. And they provide awesome support. I've been considering picking up the Panasonic S5 to check the 6k 12bit. I also just ordered for eos M to set up with the magic lantern and check out some super 16 fun
awesome video. I shoot sony and have 2x a7iv's. I moved from sony APSC to full frame about 5 years ago when starting to do professional work. I had the sony a6000, then sony a6500. the change to full frame for profressional use makes sense for me and the images look more professional. In saying that, I recently just purchased the fuji x100vi to have that light small camera fell where i can take it anywhere and do need to worry about editing the RAWs. to have a camera that didnt feel like work all the time
I feel exactly the same, bought an X-T4 two years ago and it completely revived my love for photography and videography. Such an amazing system and I’ve had more fun than I ever would have imagined using it. The portra 400 recipe makes my straight out of cameras have a magical quality I can’t quite achieve in editing, I’d say over 50% of the time I’ll go with the jpeg and do only slight modifications (only low light does it do worse usually). Great video by the way, very nice editing and you have some awesome film making talent :)
I am an avid fan of photography because of the beauty it captures and how it brings memory more meaningful with its undeniably amazing varying colorful shots. I am not a professional photographer but someone who just loves to capture memories. I had my my very first Fujifilm X-T100 mirrorless camera and I am so happy taking pictures with it. When I found out that Fuji doesn't have a full frame mirrorless camera (I could be wrong), I started browsing and researching for the brands with full frame sensors. I am honestly quite amazed by Sony a7iv having that sensor but this video of yours makes me realize that there is something in Fuji that can capture someone who is an avid fan of taking photos. Aside from the quality pictures that this brand can offer, the design really is something that will make you more excited to go out and take photos. Thank you for this ❤ I am now having fun reading comments attesting how Fuji greatly changed their options on buying amazing cameras.
There’s a ton of value in owning a camera that makes you want to shoot! Could have the best specs ever, but if the camera isn’t a joy to use, what’s the point? Obviously, as a profession, this wouldn’t necessarily apply. But for hobbyists and enthusiasts, I think it’s a good point to consider. 😜
Great video! I just recently went from X-T4 to a Canon setup but I miss the 3rd party lenses and using custom recipes to pull stunning jpgs right out of camera. I spend more time in LR these days. Ultimately you have to enjoy the camera it's your conduit to these frozen little snippets of reality we like to capture!
I love that; "frozen little snippets of reality." That's really what it's all about, and whatever camera makes that easier for you is the one for you! What Canon are you using?
I had a Nikon D90 (from 2010) and my interest for photography had been missing for a few years. Then we got a dog, and the D90 and passion was dusted off again! However, I could feel how it was technologically lagging behind and I felt the urge to upgrade. After looking at Nikon and Sony mainly, I came across the X-T4 and was amazed by the specs for the price. I got one and I was in awe at the technological advances, 26mpx, the 10bit 4k and 1080 240fps is crystal clear and amazing for sports/dogvideos! You could say I came for the "bang for buck" ratio, but stayed for the Fuji magic. I cannot imagine being without the clean dials and the on lens aperture ring I had no idea I needed in my life😅 So ur video explains my story pretty good as well👍
What good way to put it! “Stayed for the Fuji magic.” It’s so true. It’s truly a powerful thing, to love how a camera feels and operates. It inspires and makes the process fun again. I don’t need the best specs on paper. I just need something that’s capable to produce what I want, the way I want it. And I didn’t know that was Fuji until I owned one, and then I understood what the “magic” was all about. Thanks for sharing. 🙏✌️
I usually skip or double tap videos to just get to the point, and I NEVER comment on videos but man, this was a great video to just watch not even for the camera but the clips and dialogue was great. Bravo 👏
I've never heard Sony shooters get nostalgic and excited when they talk about or shoot with their gear. It's just a tool, a choice made because it didn't require a lot of anguish or worry, a path of least resistance. Or maybe because they're not prepared to justify buying outside that box to others, because they fall into the specs-that-I-don't-need-but-want-to-feel-proud-of camp. But like you, and many others, the experience and results with Fuji inspired us to enjoy the process again, and shoot more. Which only increases our chances of creating something great.
This was well said. I knew what I was getting into, going to Sony. But I can’t particularly say it was “inspiring” me. It’s really hard to describe, but once you’re in the Fuji ecosystem, it really just makes you want to create and brings a lot of the old fashioned fun back into the art. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@chrisignacio1791 I can’t freaking decide between fuji x-t4 and Sony a7iv. I never do video but those are the main ones I’ve been looking at. I’ve watched every video on RUclips and can’t decide. What do you think?
I basically had the same experience shopping when I ended up buy a barely used XT-3, with a lens, non battery grip, extra batteries and all in the original boxes.. I don't shoot video with a mirrorless, so the XT-4 wasn't necessary. I love the images I get from the XT-3 and also am a fan of the dials. I don't think you can beat the quality for the money.
I just picked up the A74 so I could use my current A73 as a partner camera on shoots. Previously I was using the A7 in conjunction with my A73. Getting the A74 allows me to do something special which is to gift my A7 to a friend of mine with a very grave disease. He has always wanted a full frame camera and hopefully he can use it to focus in on being creative despite what he will be facing HealthWise. I think your video speaks to that sentiment, to use a tool and create the best content despite it not being the latest and greatest. Kudos to your content its inspirational.
Tony, that’s amazing! What a very thoughtful gift, and you’re a great friend for doing that. And thank you - I often remind myself of this when something new comes out, and that sometimes it’s not always about the tools, but how you use it and what you create with it. (There’s an innuendo somewhere in there, but I digress 😅) Thanks again for the watch and kind words. 🙏
Just gonna claim my fame here as your 29th subscriber before you ABSOLUTELY BLOW TF UP! Jeez man, you're content is top tier quality stuff. You're 10000% gonna blow up man :) Keep working!
Joel, what the heck! I really appreciate that! I’ve already started on the next one, so thanks for coming along for the ride haha. You gotta let me know how you’re enjoying the XT4 once you get it 🤟
Great video! I was in the same boat as you, I've had my XT4 for a couple of weeks now and I've already shot more with it than I had for the previous 5 years. The camera really does make you want to go out there and make art. Today I challenged myself to only shoot Acros and it was so much fun. The only down side as I see it is that I'm eying out other fuji cameras to add to the collection.
Thanks! So stoked to hear you’re loving it! And I totally get that. For me, it started with the XT4. Then it was the XE4. …and then the X100V. They really just make great cameras. 😅
Went from Canon 5dmkiv to Sony a7sii to Fuji XT4 specifically for the same reasons and never looked back. As far as AF goes, the lens you're using makes a HUGE difference with Fuji.
Quite the journey! And absolutely -- I do notice on some lenses, they seem to focus hunt far more than others. But AF in general is getting better with Fuji, so I expect it to be a non-issue not too long from now.
Great video that really has me thinking about the X-T4. Quick question: have you experienced any overheating issues? This is something that I’m hearing more and more about as I research the camera. Thanks!
Hey Wayne! So I have had the X-T4 overheat on me on one occasion, however, I was filming for an extended period of time, and it was most definitely 95 degrees outside around 2pm in the afternoon. So not the most ideal conditions, and I’m not particularly surprised it overheated. I’d shut it off for a few minutes, and it’d resolve itself. So I suppose consider what kind of stuff you’re going to film, in what conditions, and whether or not that is going to be a roadblock for you.
Thanks for laying all of this out. From your video alone, (as the first one I came across when I started doing my own mirrorless research), I do have to say that my own camera choice is always turning up Fuji now (all my search history can prove it). All the other Fujifilm videos I come across all have something else in common with you, which is they just seem more passionate about 'why'. I'm pretty sympatico on all your approaches from design to colour output. We've got a pretty good 2nd hand market in Hong Kong, so I'm really hunting for the X series orphan that wants to come home with me.
I used the X-T4 for a while, and I really enjoyed it. I ended up switching to a Canon R6 recently because I love shooting wildlife and the autofocus on the Fuji was frustrating at time. I do miss it, though. If I were rich, I might have both systems :)
I’m so glad you put the outtakes at the end bc I was going to ask you how many spit takes it took 🤣 Also not so jealous of my mom for buying your last camera because this one is SOOOO COOOOL 🤩
See I was trying to get a Sony A73 but winded up grabbing the Panasonic LUMIX S5 Just because once I seen what you can do with that camera plus the flip out screen. It caught my eye. Best move I’ve ever made buying a camera, it even helped with my creativity when it comes to shooting video & photography
Wild part, when I first was getting my fuji xt4 silver during covid.... the a74 was just coming out and at the time around the same price but I liked the way fuji looked, and the DCI was good for me as I want to do more films and the colors out the camera are amazing
New subscriber here. I grew up shooting film so the XT4 was a no brainier. I just love it and I adore the film simulations. Such amazing results without having to spend time in post. I'm an absolute shite photographer but this camera is a work of art in itself and I love creating photos with it.
Thanks! It really is a blast to shoot with, and even after the release of the X-T5, I’m still so very happy with the camera as my main hybrid workhorse for photo and video. It doesn’t get as much love as my X100V or my film cameras, but when I need to get serious work done, this takes care of everything I need.
the reason 3 is exactly what i told my friend. and i share the same feeling. using sony feels like a computer. but when it comes to pro work is amazing. but when it comes to personal use, i dont wanna bring a expensive full frame just to "shoot" normal photos. i didnt like sony regular jpg and i have been editing alot of raw photos of sony. its a waste of time if i need to edit the jpg again if i wana get the nice color of the casual photos i took. fuji really save alot alot of my time and energy and is exactly what i need. i was able to enjoy photography again now thanks to fujifilm. i can immediately shoot great sooc jpg and upload them to my socmed. i still use both sony and fuji. both do what they need to do and deliver well. as for design wise, the fujifilm feels pretty good on my hands. but overall i still use my fujifilm like a dslr setting. the main focus has been the color and jpg.
I was the biggest Fuji fanboy...I recently upgraded from a X-T4 to a A7iv. In many ways the X-T4 is the perfect camera, it was so good that it made the weakest part of the camera which was the AF in video stick out more. As the times changed I found myself having to film myself and the AF-C was just not reliable enough. I was a little bummed that they seemed to fix that problem with the X-HS and will probably make it to the X-T5. Also, there are a lot more affordable/high quality glass for A7 that are the same price as fuji glass. So aside from initial higher cost of the a7iv which I got as open box when it first released on Amazon. I was happy with my upgrade.
Nice! Yeah, I'm very curious to see what upgrades will come to the X-T5. I totally get where you're coming from with AF, but I'm glad you found a solution that works for you! That A7IV is badass!
Yea Im thinking something like the a7IV would be best for me too. I think full frame is just the way to go as well as I’m wanting to both make short films for myself as well as maybe doing wedding and photography at the same time. Not too many camera that fit that need really.
Haha I appreciate you, dude! It's definitely a tough decision, but I truly believe you can't go wrong with either. Both have their pros and cons, so go with the one that does the job AND feels good to you!
@@Christopher_Ray yoo I appreciate your effort with your great content and also replying to and helping out non-pros like myself! Thank you so much, keep "vintageing", Sir 🙏😉
hope you enjoy your camera! I came from a fujifilm ecosystem, having owned the XT-3 and X-T4, to the A7IV and never looked back (at least, for work). It was what I needed for weddings especially. but when it came to my street and family/casual photography, I always turn to Fujifilm.
Thanks! I definitely get that. While I do know a few people who use Fuji's in a professional video environment (X-T4, X-H2S), there's no question that the majority uses Sony or Canon, and I can't blame them.
I had a Sony 3N and Canon T2i/m50 and eventually went on to buy Fuji X-S10. I felt excited using the film simulations and reading up about film recipes. I also have a Canon AE-1 and AT-1 film cameras so having the Fuji camera to do film simulations was nostalgic.
LOVED this video. I thought it was a really nice exploration of not automatically 'going with' the latest most-raved about product, and instead just quietly choosing what works best for YOU 👍🏻
WOW. I do very little amounts of videos so I’m very pleased with your recommendations. I’m still using my A7/3. I’m an aged Aussie and my usage is very busy but not on a Professional Level. Thank you.
I’ve wanted an XT4 for so long 😢 but I’ve invested so much in Canon. I have 2 EOS R’s. I just love the colors and the ease of use. I’m also afraid it’s gonna change the way my photos change in look on my website. I know those are stupid excuses but the main reason is money. I would have to start all over again. Anyway beautiful video bro. If I could do it all over again Fuji XT4 is EXACTLY what I would have gone with too!
Hey Luis! I don't know why YT flagged this for review, but I just noticed it now, so I apologize! I totally feel you on this. I was a Canon shooter for so long, and was pretty decently invested in the system, so money was also a REALLY big concern for me when I started to seriously consider switching. I ultimately knew that if I didn't do it, though, my passion for actually doing anything was going to continue waning, so the cost offset the possibility of me not having fun doing what I love. I truly don't have ANY regrets, and wish I had done so sooner. I think you can find a way to get your colors and look consistent if you shoot RAW, but I understand the hesitation! Anyways, thanks for watching, dude! Best of luck!
The one thing to consider when purchasing a Fuji camera that I was not fully aware of before hand. Is if you do any RAW post work, be ready to use Capture One over Lightroom. Lightroom just recently put out a update to help with Fuji Raw in Lightroom, but it requires you to turn on the extra feature for ever photo which takes around 4 to 5 second per photo. Capture One will make Fuji Raw's look so much better. And Fuji just killed off the Free version of Capture One so you will have to pay for Capture One moving forward. But if your just wanting out of the camera jpg's then Fuji is really good for then you should be good to go. So you may have to adjust how you intend on do post with Fuji if you use Lightroom. It's just one more step in post that I was not fully aware of till I actually started using a Fuji camera. And had I know it before hand, I may have planned differently.
your computation might be wrong. theres a lot of 3rd party lenses available for e-mount. you can save a lot bro. thers sigma 24-70/2.8 for $999 and the nsony 85mm 1.8 is $600. if you total with you A7IV ($2498+$999+$600 = $4097) it is not as expensive as you think. just my opinion
Brother! Is that you?? Omg. Your story is basically my story! Even your 3 reasons were my main reasons as well! The only difference is that I kept my canon gear and got a Speedbooster to use the glass I have on the xt-4. Still happy that I went with the Fuji. There’s nothing like Fuji color profiles..☺️
Haha, I'm glad my story resonated with others. Good call on the Speedbooster. I thought about hanging onto a few of my Canon lenses, but I ended up letting it all go. Fuji color is amazing!
You mage good points, but I can't stomach non-full-frame look as side by side it looks like a downgrade, even an APS-C. Sometimes tools are beyond our budget, like my wanting the Sony A1 that will be a massive upgrade and convenience to me minus the non-flippy screen. A7sIII will do for now but need 2 bodies for weddings/interviews.😋
@@Christopher_Ray It's the best 'kept secret' in camera circles. Samsung would have trumped the competition today, just like back then, if their camera division were still in business. Glad you did some homework on it :)
My deepest apologies to the people who were watching me from across the park while I was filming myself repeatedly spitting water out. Trust me -- I was as mortified as you were.
But did they at least enjoy the shot down the Town Center stairs? Had to at least make up for it lol
As a shooter using both fuji xpro and a7iv, i can tell you that You will miss Sony AF if that’s what you’re looking for
@@Kxdda oddly enough, nobody paid attention to that 😅
@@kevsaptrips8789 I never had it to begin with, so 🤷♂️
I’m well aware of Fuji’s shortcomings with AF, but I don’t rely on it too much as it is.

Thank you, love. I appreciate your love and support the most!
Louder for the people in the back! Well said, Peter! Thanks for watching, dude!
Damnnn, you went all in like me! 😂 Sold off my Canon stuff and within six months time, I had an X-T4, X-E4, and X100V 😅 Fuji gang 👊
@@Christopher_Ray Yep, and I dont regret it a bit! I have alot more fun now!
Is the new xt-s20 a good beginner camera I believe it has some of the xh2 xt5/4 tech
@@carlosr.2027 it's all up to you how you are going to use it, is it the best camera .... for you, for me not really I do require weather proofing to my camera to protect it from difficult weather condition and yes the classic look of x-t4 and x-t5 is love at first ....
crazy, im about to sell my r6 for the x-t4
Oddly enough, I switched from the x-t4 to the a7iv. I just had so many problems with my auto focus all the time. I could never tell if my photos were in focus until I’d get them onto the computer and too frequently they weren’t. Once I switched to primarily pet and baby photography the animal eye af came in very handy. For personal use, it’s pretty much family photo/video and daily life. The slow intentional feel of the fuji line didn’t quit fit my needs despite being a camera I loved. Just needed a device that could think for me half the time and one I could effectively use as a tool the other half.
I’m super stoked that worked out for you! I’d love to see the pet photography!
Awesome! I can’t wait to try out an X-H2S!
You know, you tell a great story with your video which makes it compelling to watch - good job!
Hey Rune,
How have you found the video differences? Or are you mostly a photographer?
I’ve been an Xt4 user for over a year, and for me it’s one of the greatest cameras ever! Love it!
I agree! It’s so much fun to use!
Fuji shooter of 5+ years. Couldn’t be happier and the XH2s just arrived. Welcome to the FujiFam! Btw that intro was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
Thanks, Jared! I’m really itching to get my hands on the X-H2S!
Whoa, less than 1k? Your content is very high quality. Keep at it, and they will come.
I get that a lot. I appreciate that, man. I’m not new to video - 10+ years of experience - but I’m new to RUclips. Stoked for the journey!
I own the A7IV and a Fuiji X100V and I agree with you the Fuji is so much nicer when using it for personal everyday stuff. The A7IV is amazing for client work. I am happy with both my cameras 😬
You’ve got the best of both worlds, to be honest! And isn’t that X100V such a lovely camera? Perfect companion for everyday.
Sony ma74 it's not over heating for you?
I totally understand u for saying "loving how a camera looks". Its all about how the camera makes u feel, almost like the camera has a soul.
Keep up the good work
Haha, I try to engage as much as I can! Thanks for watching, man!
I started with film photography, so going with Fuji was a no brainer for me. The xt4 is my first digital camera and I thought I’d pick it up less than my film cameras, but that’s not true! Sometimes I tear up from how much I love shooting with it
That’s love, dude!
You're a great storyteller. Thoroughly enjoyed this video bro! Very entertaining. Instant sub.
Thanks so much, Terrence! Glad you enjoyed!
Everything. All of this. Spot on! So stoked our stories are so similar!
1 minute in and you already pull the heart strings of your day today video/cinematographer and tastefully compare them to the 'influencers' well done my friend.
Aww man, I appreciate that! 🙏
As far as AF for video, I’m with you! I use AF-C and a single box and track using that and it’s been pretty reliable.
Thanks for sharing, and for watching! ✌️
If fuji can get the auto focus right I would consider switching. For photography its definitely excellent.
@@X99Zero if you want the camera to do all the work for you, then some sony or canon would suit you better
@@Kadehr The issue with fuji is that it still has a bit of pulsating when finding focus. Doubt that videographers using fuji are hardcore manual mode film makers.

Thank you for this ❤
I am now having fun reading comments attesting how Fuji greatly changed their options on buying amazing cameras.

“Stayed for the Fuji magic.”
It’s so true.
Bravo 👏
Haha, thanks Brian! That’s mighty praise! 🙏
5:48 “for a while I was starting to feel like I was operating computers and not cameras” THIS!
Thank you very much for this video. I've been going back and forth between considering the Sony IV or one of the Fuji.

I don't shoot video with a mirrorless, so the XT-4 wasn't necessary. I love the images I get from the XT-3 and also am a fan of the dials. I don't think you can beat the quality for the money.
Totally agree, Charlie. For the experience and quality, it’s hard to find better in that price range.
(There’s an innuendo somewhere in there, but I digress 😅)
Thanks again for the watch and kind words.
Hahaha so true!
I now have the xt4, xt2, xt3 and xe4 looooool
@@Christopher_Ray ah yes, a fellow Fuji addict. Welcome
@@AtomicPixel Oh, an addict for sure.
Your storytelling and production value earned you a subscriber from me!
I appreciate you, sir!!🙏
Great video that really has me thinking about the X-T4. Quick question: have you experienced any overheating issues? This is something that I’m hearing more and more about as I research the camera. Thanks!
Hey Wayne! So I have had the X-T4 overheat on me on one occasion, however, I was filming for an extended period of time, and it was most definitely 95 degrees outside around 2pm in the afternoon. So not the most ideal conditions, and I’m not particularly surprised it overheated. I’d shut it off for a few minutes, and it’d resolve itself.
So I suppose consider what kind of stuff you’re going to film, in what conditions, and whether or not that is going to be a roadblock for you.
excellent clip and great story-telling, Christopher!
THREE TAKES. And I had to awkwardly make sure people weren’t watching me as they walked by 😅
In the first few months it was hard using the A7IV but then I just focused on making it work for me! 😊❤️
Hell yeah, glad to hear it dude 🙏

Your storytelling is top notch!!!!!! Glad I found your channel!! 🙏🏼🔥
Haha thanks so much! Story is key to a compelling video. I’m glad it resonates. 😊
Thanks Chris
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
I love your vibe. Your voice, music, editing, content. Keep it up :)
Thanks Kamil! I know the channel doesn’t have a whole lot yet, but it’s just getting started. Thank you for watching! 🙏
the reason 3 is exactly what i told my friend. and i share the same feeling. using sony feels like a computer. but when it comes to pro work is amazing.
but when it comes to personal use, i dont wanna bring a expensive full frame just to "shoot" normal photos. i didnt like sony regular jpg and i have been editing alot of raw photos of sony. its a waste of time if i need to edit the jpg again if i wana get the nice color of the casual photos i took. fuji really save alot alot of my time and energy
and is exactly what i need. i was able to enjoy photography again now thanks to fujifilm. i can immediately shoot great sooc jpg and upload them to my socmed. i still use both sony and fuji. both do what they need to do and deliver well.
as for design wise, the fujifilm feels pretty good on my hands. but overall i still use my fujifilm like a dslr setting. the main focus has been the color and jpg.
Not too many camera that fit that need really.
this dude has the vintage vibe 🦦
lovely content, Sir
Now I am more undecided than before, between the a7IV and a nice, succulent Fujifilm 😉
Well done with the video! Intro was killer haha 👌
Haha, thanks man!
Personally, I'd like to tell you that I love your style both in video and photos.🤩
Greetings from Italy
I appreciate that! As someone who doesn’t really think they have a “style,” it’s nice to hear others think so. 😅
i'm in love with this pitch
hope you enjoy your camera!
Nice work, very comedic, and well thought out. Would love to see some a-roll mixed in. Subbed ✔️
They’re great! Such a simple workflow, and the images look great too.
And I had an M50, as well!
the colours on fuji will NEVER be beaten.
I just came across your youtube 🎉, I loved this video, can’t wait to learn a lot from you!!!
Heck yeah, thanks Kaavya!
LOVED this video. I thought it was a really nice exploration of not automatically 'going with' the latest most-raved about product, and instead just quietly choosing what works best for YOU 👍🏻
Ian, thanks so much! That's really what I was going for here, and I'm glad it succeeded in getting that message across. Thanks again for watching!
The intro was insane 😂 Great job man!
That was a surprise twist! Enjoy your Fuji! :D
Great video - I really enjoyed the soundtrack and cinematic look. You’ve earned a sub 😊
As a proud Sony user, this video charmed the shit out of me and now I want a Fuji
I literally did this exact same thing.
Sold all my Canon gear, and went full Fuji. Never looked back!
Nice! What do you shoot on?
WOW. I do very little amounts of videos so I’m very pleased with your recommendations. I’m still using my A7/3. I’m an aged Aussie and my usage is very busy but not on a Professional Level. Thank you.
Glad to hear! You considering going to the A7IV, or are you thinking of trying out Fuji?
Thank you for creating this video! Super inspiring and insightful
Thanks for watching! Glad to inspire.
Welcome to the fuji gang! Love my X-T4. Also just want to say that your content far exceeds your sub count 👌🏻 good stuff, subbed.
Haha I get that a lot! I appreciate you!
Dude! I was really holding my breath when you packed your old canon camera 🤣🤣
Hahaha trust me, it was hard to film that! I was scared I was going to regret going Fuji!
Thankfully I was wrong 😅
You mage good points, but I can't stomach non-full-frame look as side by side it looks like a downgrade, even an APS-C. Sometimes tools are beyond our budget, like my wanting the Sony A1 that will be a massive upgrade and convenience to me minus the non-flippy screen. A7sIII will do for now but need 2 bodies for weddings/interviews.😋
I recently went back to my old love, the Samsung NX1...from 2014.
Whoa, nice! Can’t say I’ve ever used a Samsung camera before, but after a quick google search, that’s not a bad camera. 👍
@@Christopher_Ray It's the best 'kept secret' in camera circles. Samsung would have trumped the competition today, just like back then, if their camera division were still in business. Glad you did some homework on it :)
