  • Today we test the first prototype ammo for the new TR50 (Torpedo Revolver) by Californian brand Mercury Rise.
    The “925 PULSE” slugs by US brand SSHobbies are a ‘dual-steel core’ torpedo shaped slug: with two 8mm BBs in a 3D printed plastic sabot.

    The HDR-50 holster can be modified to fit the TR-50 by cutting an inch-long window on each side below the cylinder bump. I did this by heating the blade of a disposable box cutter with a torch and melting straight lines through the ABS. I also carved a groove for the mag release button using a soldering iron, as that was dragging on the inside of the holster. Used an exacto-type blade to remove the melted ABS lip and bevel the edges, then polished the interior of the holster with automotive wax. My TR-50 now drops and locks effortlessly into the HDR-50 holster.

    I bought that TR50 as soon as the Complete Technology Solutions RUclips channel did a vid on it like a month ago. I got the steel rubber and devastator ammo too. Ain’t shot it yet. Guy on the other channel already took it apart but it was basically same as Umarex but it did not have a valve block in it. Another channel was getting about 20 shots out of a 12g co2 charge. The CTS guy showed you could screw the paintball air valve adapter for the canister right into the handle but hasn’t tried anything with it yet. I want to see what Z-Rams will do in it. • @charlestannehill7537

      It would also increase the air seal pressure. Main problem is with how the rounds are designed. They need slight cup indentation on the rear to catch the air and build up pressure quickly. Plus use one ball in the front to make front heavy with rifled tail. Much more accurate with a harder punch. Same principal for anything of mass going through a medium like air. A heavy front end and narrow tail end with less mass would operate under the same principals as a trailer. Unstable with weight in the back, but in the front completely stable. Think of the tear drop shape. Hope airgun alley reads this. He has contact with these companies and I'm sure they could use the input. This tells me none of them went to engineering school.

    I think the projectiles for the Torpedo will need to be more pellet shaped with sharpened tips like an H&N Hornet. The bigger “chamber” created by a skirt on the end of a pellet allows the air to “ball up” and give more speed to the projectile than a flat or shallow back as seen on slugs and standard pistol rounds. Co2 just doesn’t have he needed expansion to launch a heavy projectile very far without capturing the gas, this is seen in the umarex air javelin which uses trapped co2 in an arrow shaft to launch a 15” 270 grain arrow at just under 300FPS.
    My two cents! Keep up the great content!

    i have a few parts revolvers and always wanted to swap the cylinder portion for a magazine , and then connect a motor with armature so it basically fans the hammer which could be replaced or modded to have a bushing roller too and can have an external spring to try ....anyway the operation would be the new trigger is connected to a sleeve on the mag tube so it slides over the mag opening, on full trigger press an electric switch closes and activates the motor to fan the hammer on semi auto mode....it's a busted one and i learned to repair them but i like the metal 8 shot with ...one or two go through over four layers cardboard , can make my ears ring indoors i was surprised when i'd repaired one and test fire in kitchen how it began...../lol ranting

    Why won’t you ever do the hdp .50

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  Год назад +1

      That’s a good question my friend! Umarex actually sent me the compact version, I did a video about it and then it broke. Hahaha
      The original HDP50 I never bought because I’m not crazy about launchers that only shoot balls.
      Revolvers got me hooked to the immense variety of ammo they’re able to shoot, which then became my niche.
      I keep telling my self, and my viewers, that I’ll get one at some point (same for the Byrna) but then I receive other toys to review and more time goes by…
      Anyway. Sorry for the long answer.
      In short: I will at some point :)
      And thank you for the interest

      Good question, I don’t think so. I’m sure the magazine is too bulky for it to slip in- but I will try it and let you know if it does…

    They were using large caliber air rifles in the napolianic wars, Lewis and Clark took air rifles along on their journey to the Pacific ocean,,,today, as well, you can get an air rifle powerful enough to take deer, even elk. I'm guessing this fellow hasn't heard of green gas pneumatics, they have been making high pressure pistols and rifles for decades, even the Beeman company is making high pressure pneumatic hunting rifles, in calibers suitable for deer.

      This fellow actually made a ton of videos with very powerful PCP rifles, ones that even shoot arrows, like this one: The Dragon Claw, shooting ARROWS at 250 FPE!

    Useless trivia, sort of related to the video, but not particularly helpful: The original anti-ship weapons they called torpedoes were what we would call mines today. The quote "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" referred to these old timey torpedoes we would call mines today.

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  Год назад +1

      Very interesting! Even less related, one of my very first filming adventures was following a group of Karen National Liberation Army fighters in the malaria infested Burmese jungle, while stepping my feet exactly where the soldier ahead of me stepped. The area was full of landmines… planted by the same people I was with… but it was monsoon season… the mines were all homemade… so they don’t really stick well in one place for long…. with the torrential rain they went all over the place and no one knew where they were now. Good times!

    When showing the damage inflicted to a coconut by shooting it... or trying to, you should edit out the shots that you missed the coconut completely. We already know what kind of visual damage to expect from a lousy shot.
