Most people can't tell a fake from a real one. Those that can you probably know. So wear the fake one as most people won't know and if it's stolen...your insurance won't go sky high. Also you keep your valuable ones in better condition

I’m not against fake watches. These popular watches that everyone wants are so ridiculously expensive. Even if you have 1M in your bank account, it’s still pretty crazy to buy a 50k+ watch. To be able to buy one for $500 that looks nearly identical, and you get to experience what it’s like to own and wear the real thing, is definitely appealing

For me, a watch to some degree represents who you are. And if it’s fake, the wearer knows it. And if they’re happy with that, fine, who really cares? Most likely it will appeal to other shallow people. And to those who aren’t I suspect they really won’t care one way or another what watch another person is wearing.
I couldn’t wear a fake watch because I have self respect and have no wish to pretend something I’m not. And I also don’t want to support what is essentially a criminal activity.

The only reason I can think of, to wear a fake brand name watch, is trying to impress someone else. I own a Rolex that my wife gave me for our 33 anniversary, but mostly wear one of my Seikos in town. I don’t care about trying to “impress” someone at a club. If someone judges me by the watch I’m wearing, I don’t even want to know them. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with a Seiko.

I work as a developer , I do this as well, I started years ago when I banged my Platinum Rolex and almost broke the Crystal. Yes I own the real ones so for events weddings dinners etc I wear the real one. Many of my friends do the same. On another note all the women that buy those fancy bags are doing the same thing.

Fake watches are interesting. There is a numerous reasons given to own a fake watch but my favourite is this one.
In certain lines of business there is a cohort of individuals that will take you more seriously if you own a 'nice' watch. Knowing this one can make a purchase of a clone watch for around £800 and have a better chance of closing or making a good impression of which the potential value could be far in excess of the layout for the rep watch.
Either you wear the real thing and insure it or wear something cheaper when you go to shady areas (or move to a place with less crime).
Having a fake one on your wrist makes you a target, while looking fake to the people you want to impress. Also it doesn't give you the same warm feeling of having amazong history and craftsmanship on your wrist to be fascinated and inspired by.

No one is ever going to sleep with me because of the watch and even if it was a more recognisable one I wouldn't bother wearing a fake, because I don't want attention from people wanting to steal it, and frankly don't care who else notices it. What I do is have an acceptable lower end version of the high priced watch that I have… like I have a submariner to where on weddings or high level events, but use my BB58 blue on a daily or if going to a sketchy place.
