The lead actor is a fake 41mm Rolex Submariner (reference 124060) that a client found out he had been scammed with when he brought it in for an authentication. During the video, we do a visual. side-by-side comparison of the replica and a real version of the Sub, as well as a microscope analysis of both watches (up to 55X magnification). They already have. Have you seen the new ARF tungsten day date model? 99.5% the same watch, 99% the same weight, plated 10 microns thick of real 18k gold. Almost impossible to tell, even when openening them up. With the new generation movements comming out too. I think in 2025 we will finally see the 99.9% perfect rep.
If we have to look under a microscope at 30x to barely tell any difference, I have some rethinking to do

I can tell a super rep from a couple feet away depending on the model. A bad replica can be spotted from across a room if you know your stuff.

What we said is that the edges of the number 20 are not as precise as in the Rolex watch, which is true. The overspray is not really visible to the naked eye and even if you were to say that the crown in the replica is "better," the actual watch is still not "better," not by far.

$400 vs $10,000. Not much difference in appearance these days. And if people are really worried just go ahead and buy the super clone and buy a genuine bezel insert and a genuine dial. 99% issues solved.
The whole point of super-clones is that you can wear a watch that looks like $10,000 on your wrist and if it ever gets stolen it's only $400 out of your pocket.
Fakes in any industry always get better over time, but the reality is that the majority of people don't get fakes so they can be a few hundred dollars out of pocket if the watch gets stolen. The great majority do so because they want others to pretend that they have a real luxury watch on. I would much rather get an authentic model from another brand for a few hundred dollars that still looks good. What's the obsession with having a Rolex at any cost? 🤷
@Crmjewelers I guess it ultimately depends on the person buying the rep. There are many many people out there who NEED to wear a rolex at any cost. Others like me buy the watch I think looks the best to me and on my wrist. I don't buy watches for others to look at. They are for me to appreciate. If I travel to a less reputable country and by chance get robbed, I'd rather they take my $400 rep than my $10,000 gen.

I hear you Mike, but the safest option if you're worried that someone will rob you is not to wear a fake watch, but not to wear one at all. The guy robbing you will probably not know the watch is fake and may still hurt you in the process. Someone's safety is way more important than their money and I totally disagree that certain people can't live without a Rolex. I say it's more important for someone to live within their means and be grateful for the truly important things in their life than getting a warm and fuzzy feeling inside from wearing a Rolex...or should I say, Folex?
@Crmjewelers That's true, the safest option would be not to wear anything at all. But then what is the fun in life if we're not going take risks? I just mean to mitigate the risk as much as I can while enjoying life as much as I can as well.

That is pretty much true with anything tbh. Most luxury type items are not worth it for the quality per $. They are the price cuz of the brand, and the slightly better quality etc. Like a honda civic is much better than a bike for lets say 10x the price, but a bmw m5 for 10x the price isnt that much better than the honda, and a 1/1 ferrari isnt that much better than the m5 for 10x the price. Diminishing marginal returns.
@@Crmjewelers yes. Watched the entire thing. I own 6 Genuine Rolex watches. One of them, the GMT Pepsi was purchased from my AD last May. The hour hand is 6 minutes behind the hour. That means the minute hand shows past the hour and the hour hand is still behind the hour marker. And the watch switches date at 12:05 instead of midnight.
Not even genuine Rolex watches pass the QC always.

I have to agree with you. Also you are comparing a cheap replica with a real Rolex. Try to do the same comparison with a top end replica and you’ll find that even the accuracy is closer compared to the real deal.
In short, the real is not worth it.

$10,000? When was the last time you checked pricing on Rolex Subs? Used ones go for upwards of $30k. Believe it or not, brand new, if you don't die on a waiting list, will set you back about $20k-25k
Allot of people buy the original and a fake copy. They keep the original at home in a safe. And wear the fake ones... Just incase it gets lost, stolen or scratched

This video and others on RUclips clearly show that, unless you have a microscope and someone is willing to let you inspect their timepiece, and you know what you look for, and you have a genuine watch with you for comparaison, you will never be able to tell for sure which one is the real one. @@reefp5816 to develop a new mechanism for a "standard" automatic watch, costs around $3 million overall (design, project, prototyping, etc.), there's watches with more complication which would costs in the range of ten thousands or more. However after the repayment it's all income, for luxury watches they creates a "fake" scarcity to increase the bid (hence the prices). Clones however doesn't develop anything, they just copy.. the mechanism isn't reliable as the original ones (forget about it), neither the QA, however they aren't as bad as people would think. So the truth is in the middle.

My opinion means nothing in the grand scheme, but Rolex AD’s created part of this problem by not selling to anyone off the street. If you can’t buy from AD and don’t want to pay in some cases crazy markup by grey market, what are you to do? I don’t have problem with reps, I have a problem when they are sold to unsuspecting buyers as genuine…not cool.

Its scary how close the replicas get to the originals. The only giveaway is the accuracy and movements balance wheel. But outside from that. You will never tell the difference, especially cause the companys making them invest a lot of money into making the fakes even more detailed.

There is no Dang Dong 3230, the old VSF 114060 with the Dang Dong 3130 clone is probably the best Rolex clone ever, the current VSF 124060 (which is what this is) is superb but has a ghost date.
The Clean 124060 uses a dressed up 3130 movement.
So get a replica and polish it up… got it!
Grey market is getting scary. Gotta gotta gotta get it under a scope. If the seller pushes back in any way to having a piece checked, I'm out. Personally, an extra $1-2K to buy from a trusted dealer who invested in the equipment to check EVERYTHING coming through is worth peace of mind. It was probably passed to a buddy who lacks the scratch for a real Rolex, they probably hammered a dinged up Casio Duro or old trashed Invicta Pro Diver.
To me its sacrilege to kill any decently functioning watch.

The sad thing is the replicas are getting so good that unless your an expert and understand microscopic techniques you can not tell the difference. The Rolex will cost you tens of thousands the super clone is about £1000 and there’s not much difference between the two watches.
I have the money to buy a Submariner, but it's no way in hell I'm justifying a 2+ year waiting list to then drop $10,000 on an authentic when VSF replicas look indistinguishable and tell time the same way. It's to the point where you're simply supporting a smug, price gouging, marketing ripoff. No piece of stainless steel is worth what these people are charging.

Great video but you guys forgot to mention the 2 main giveaway this is a replica movement. 1. The missing of a free sprung balance on the replica, 2. The missing of micro-stella balance screws on the replica.

@@hallovelo2478 depends on model but I would say the cost of production on a new sub date it less than 2000 euro maybe less with the economies of scale

You all got it wrong. A real rolex submariner doesn't cost Rolex $10,000 to make it. It costs them around $2000. These superclones cost about $1000. Now you see why they're so close in quality. You don't buy a rolex because purely of its looks. It makes you feel like a boss and makes you work harder. Its also a nice feeling knowing it goes up in value as you wear it. A fake doesn't offer you this. You will feel like crap wearing it. When I wore fakes, I always had to hide my wrist cause I was scared someone would ask if it was real, or say "nice rolex"

the dead tell is the balance wheel. Gen uses free sprung. Pop the back and hack... see if it has the tiny weights. No need to even hack, you can see the hair spring on the rep has two arms.
That's so well known that the good reps. must have fixed that by now. They are said to be getting the hairspring color very close now.
I would definitely pay $20k more for the same watch which is 5 seconds more accurate and has better engravings.

The real ones have the free sprung balance with timing weights that get adjusted by micro Stella. And the over coil hairspring.
And they're getting better at duplicating that blue color of the hairspring.
When I am are given a brand name watch for an average price, I don't accept it immediately, I have to open it and check the mechanism. If I am not allow to open it, then I offer no more than 75.00 USD, the value of all the parts and movement put together on a fake watch.
You can tell a fake pretty easily tbh. 1:1 replicas as well once you become familiar with the real thing. You can fool the people around you but not yourself.

I could see how someone who sells superfakes would bring a watch to these guys as a customer to test and see if it would fool them. Then they can improvise and adjust the fake to the point where they will think its real.

Are you an engineer? I am. What you call „just adding some ball bearings“ can be a complete redevelopment of a movement. Rolex managed it to bring their watches to the perfection. They are simple but perfect.

Even if one restricts the description to mechanical watches, they wouldn't be at the top of the list for many experts.
Instead of breaking and melting the watch, I'd remove the logos and enjoy a well-made watch that's actually a proof that luxury watches are a scam.
You can say that all collectibles or luxury goods are a scam until you realize that you can't because human psychology and taste cannot really be justified.
