Good idea, but he would have to cede a level of creative control which I'm sure would alienate his long time followers. However I've always wondered why there was never a series centered around the watch industry in general.
I’ve always thought Glashutte Original watches looked stunning but seeing behind closed doors, the craftsmanship and quality imbued, makes them so much more special. Thanks for the trip.
Watch making is such an outstanding art isn’t it. Just look at the care and detail and passion. One place you can actually ‘See’ and understand the costs of fine watches
. I carve violin bridges. My first bridges took a dozen hours to do. An experienced craftsman could do it in a few hours. But his works be much, much higher quality and produce a final sound product i could never achieve. He has not only skill but efficiency. You're calculating only cheap man-hours and machining without valuing the skill and art involved that you yourself have no chance of accomplishing. Value is not only calculated by man-hours, material and cheap machining. Your view is completely void of appreciation for the art that is watch-making.
I'm a toolmaker/engineer of several decades of experience. So when I see the guys drilling 0.2 holes on the lathe I'm respectful...But also I know that I could also easily do this job. However watching the guys engraving is something like a dark art to me. How they produce perfectly machined/engraved tiny components by hand...with a chisel, under a microscope, is completely beyond my understanding. Full respect to these super talented people
Teddy and his team are the absolute pinnacle of watch videos. The quality, professionalism and attention to detail are as great as the watch brands featured.
Finally, Glashutte Original is getting the recognition it deserves. Teddy, you need to do a part 2 to highlight the history and horological innovation of the brand. Bravo!
As a proud owner of a Sea Q Pano Date this video is such a treat! Thanks Teddy and congrats! Being hosted by the CEO himself speaks volumes about the respect that you conquered in this industry.
As an engineer who works in manufacturing, this video was my favorite. I love learning how these watchmakers make these amazing machines and I admire their dedication to manufacturing perfection. Keep up the great work Teddy.
when i think about a lot of luxury brands not being transparent about in house it is super inspiring to see Glashutte in this video. Makes me want a PanoMatic Lunar even more!
Everytime I see videos of watchmakers assembling parts by hand obviously being sold as how they always manufacture, I always get immediately suspicious. These people actually live up to that standard.
Simply the best brand in the price segment. It is the only brand at this price point that truly deliver on haut horologie. Just imagine what other brands would charge for the hand-engraved ballance bridge with the dual swan regulator. 10K€ is truly a bargain from this standpoint. The documentary was wonderful.
The rotor assembly can be automated, but it is impressive that labor protection and maybe even company vision can keep those jobs around. There is something special about having something made directly with human hands. I love the look of the first balance bridge. Less is more sometimes.
I have always had a deep appreciation for anything that is finely crafted. Be it a watch, a painting, or a piece of furniture. The men and women who make exquisite pieces are truly artists in their respective fields and their love of precision craftsmanship is unsurpassed. Thank you Teddy for bringing this video (a masterpiece in itself) to the internet for all to see and appreciate, the amount of work that goes into these beautiful timepieces.
Many things to say. First, a big thank you to Teddy and his crew for taking on a truly magic trip. Glashütte is, IMHO, watchmaking at the very best. Interestingly enough, at different price points as well, if you take Nomos and A. Lange into account as well. Awesome!
Thank you, Teddy. It’s probably been 15 years since I did my own factory tour at GO. You did such a fantastic job of showcasing their manufacturing capabilities. I hope more brands partner with you in this regard. Thank you for producing some of the absolute finest content for the watch enthusiast community.
This video was awesome. I'm a mechanical engineer and seeing German engineering meet artistry in a village dedicated to watchmaking is the epitome of wonderful mechanical nerdiness. Thanks for taking us there Teddy and crew! Also, never given OG much thought until this... Now I want a Sea Q!
Simply woooow. I always liked their Pano Lunar and 70ties but to see whats happening in the back with all the manufacturing is amazing. More of these videos please. Thank you Teddy and huge thanks to your team also.
Hey Teddy as a 24 years watch enthusiast from West Germany I didn't have tge opportunity yet to visit the awesome manufacturers of Glashütte in the east. I therefore highly enjoyed your video which even elevated my view of Glashütte Original. You did such a professional video there and I absolutely love that you are one of the big big names of the watch RUclips rs that does not only talk about rolex patek, Richard mille and ap... thank you so much for your awesome service, you're a great producer and and awesome guy. I hope you had a great time in Germany.
Incredible video! Thank you for taking us on this inside tour of Glasshutte. This video increased my appreciation for Glasshutte and for all that goes into the complex process of watchmaking
The close ups and the lighting of this video are simply spectacular. We have seen quite some documentaries of visits to watch factories but this is hard to beat.
One product made like this form never be cheap. The quality they put in all steps of manufacture and assembly are just simply amazing! Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience.
Brilliant and insightful interview with Mr. Keith, and great tour Teddy. I worked for a German technology organization for a decade and I felt like I was back in Germany.
I think Teddy, that just might be my favorite ever watch content video. Superb craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Typically German i guess. Very enjoyable
As a watch repairer, I think that the makers of watches, especially expensive brands, are the most intelligent people, and sometimes when I open the watch for service, I touch the glory of this delicate industry and my job. ❤
Teddy, new follower here, you're excellent as an interviewer in that you only talk when necessary and include your dialogue if relevant. Letting people speak a foreign tongue without interruptions generally leads to them being about to convey their translated thoughts easier as well. Bravo
I think GO is the one of if not the best in the business at executing the date function. They do it so beautifully and integrate it seamlessly into the watch face. I agree it actually does contribute positively to the aesthetics of the dial whereas in most other watches the date window seems like an afterthought.
I absolutely love this kind of "fine art mechanics". Incredible accuracy is needed, not only from the machines, but from the staff there as well. Great insight into the manufacturing process!
I immediately have more appreciation for the brand after this video. Goes for all of these videos by Teddy. Great and valuable work, my sincere compliments.
Great to finally see more exposure to this great watch manufacture. Just purchased a Blue Panoreserve and quickly becoming my favorite watch in my collection. Beautiful video Teddy!

Thank you so much Teddy for this wonderful trip in the Glashütte factory. And I now understand why the brand is so well regarded by watch connaisseurs and lovers.
The piece from the senator collection, the chronometer.. my goodness I love the setting mechanism and its' dedication to accuracy 🤍 A beautiful item to behold 🤘🏼
I love these visits to watch manufacturers. Newly learned today: A tiny screw calibrates the timing of the balance spring and hence the accuracy of the watch!
Outstanding review/interview/overview. Great video. Thank you for covering this great brand. The senator and panomatic lunar are just amazing to behold. Lovely watches. So well executed, finished, tested, regulated etc. Well done to you and your team

If you want to travel again in Germany, there's a second watchmaking capital in Germany in Pforzheim. More specialized in pilot watches it seems. With brands like Laco, Stowa, the Ickler family's watches (Archimede, Limes, Defakto, Altran & Viala) and Aristo. And Junghans and Hanhart are in the same region. Kienzle (which was well known before being bought by China) used to be in the region as well. But OK, Glasshütte is definitely number 1 in Germany, especially since the fall of the Iron Curtain.
This is a really incredible interview. Thank you Teddy and Roland for taking the time to do this. Also, I appreciate how Roland takes his time choosing his words and makes what he's saying deliberate, it makes what he's talking about very valuable. 'Its a beautiful product and we need to show the world,' is a great line because it demonstrates one's acceptance of their responsibiltiy to do their very best in their work, which yields honor and makes a strong defense for the value of life. I love how watches are so small but mean so much.
Vostok, Christopher ward, Nomos, glasshute original, Breguet, and armin Strom are different tiers of watch making that are underrated for finishing in their price point.
Huge thanks for this 🎉. As the owner of a SeaQ Panorama Date (… and I love it), it was really fantastic to get a glimpse of the watch being made and tested.
