- In this video, you will see the pedestrian warning on the new BMW 1 series in action. In theory the system works up to 60 kph, but for safety reasons, we kept it at 40 kph max. Have fun watching. We test this safely here, so you do not have to! Do not try this yourself.

I have a new 128ti being delivered next month. Great to see this safety feature working for real on the 1 series. I have a similar system on my current VW Golf GTI Performance. It worked for real on one occasion when a small school kid ran across the road in front of me. I was going at 30mph (48kmh) on adaptive cruise in a 30mph limit area. The car slammed on the brakes before I could react and the child escaped unharmed but pretty frightened as I also sounded my horn. A genuine live saving feature.
Indeed! I will soon post a test where there will be more extreme scenario's, just so see what works and what doesn't. Still have so built a thing that looks enough like a human for the system to recognize it. The last attempts failed😂

@@king_83227 what exactly so you mean? It will Display a Red Person and Beep. Then it'll Brake itself If the Driver doesnt react.

Never once has my car detected pedestrian or cyclist. Do I need to have driven a certain distance at the speed tested in this video for the warning to go off? If I’m approaching a cyclist at low speed but the speed differential is less than 10 mph would the warning not go off?

I have the same car and engine model. I am quite disapointed with this system. I suppose that it works very late or it doesn't at all :)
During tests, did you use a gas pedal? Did you try approaching without pressing the gas pedal?
Same with me m8. But in my case im using gas pedal or cruise control and maybe that cancels out the feature
Hi ! Echt interessant als BMW-Fahrer (was ich auch bin) diese Funktion in der Praxis zu sehen ! Und nicht erst warten, wenn das tatsächlich passiert, wie der Wagen dann reagiert. Macht der Wagen praktisch allein, in solchen Situationen, eine Vollbremsung ?
Ja, quasi. Also bei der Fußgängerwarnung ist die Bremsung quasi immer nahezu gleichzeitig mit der Warnung. (Es ist übrigens selten eine Vollbremsung, sondern er bremst minimal früher und weniger um einen Puffer zu behalten). Bei der Fahrzeugkollisionswarnung gibt es immer erst eine Vorwarnung, dann eine Warnung mit piepen und danach wird erst gebremst.
Aber ja funktioniert komplett ohne Zutun des Fahrers (zumindest bis zu bestimmten Geschwindigkeiten, bei Personen weiß ich bis 60kmh, Warnung bis min. 80, hab ich schon ausprobiert, da konnte er aber nicht mehr bremsen)

Is this feature identical to the mini cooper driving assistant? And does it bring you to a complete stop with the mini? Great video btw
Honestly, I am not 100% sure, but I believe that the mini doesn't have as much driver assistance systems as the bmw. It will warn and it will brake (not sure if it does with a manual or only with automatic) but I don't think you can go as fast as with the bmw :). Maybe you can find something in the mini configurator😅
I didn't dare to do it with wife on my G06 ))) and so - the video I reviewed several times. Electronic assistants are cool ) especially that red car on HUD and red man )

Is this on every bmw and every package?
Yesterday a dog was barking and suddenly came to my side. I just touched him, the car stopped but the bonnet exploded the side of the windshield.
Well yeah, that active bonnet feature is very important though. When you actually hit a pedestrian it's like an airbag for them. That thing has saved so many lives over the years.
is this works only with Drive Assitance?
I believe that the normal pedestrian warning is part of the standard equipment. I don't think you need the driving assistant, but maybe just go to bmw.com/configure and look it up :)
It’s also work with Adaptive cruise control Stop and Go

"Active Guard" is a part of the standard equipment. This means the car will at least warn you when a pedestrian is in front of your car.
The driving assistant, as far as I know, makes the warnings more accurate and they work up to a higher speed and the driving assistant professional obviously performs the best.
@@robertmuller-uri7370 Yep, it has a 2 stage warning - visual and visual + audio in very last moment. And i also would like to know - does the system press brakes? :)

@@ahmed-aw can you elaborate the specifics of the test? I’m still trying to diagnose why in my case the car doesn’t issue a warning
@@bryanchen9706 Just coasting at 20km/h (12mph) and someone tries to either jump in from of the car, or just cross the street walking slowly, or running and crossing the street behind a stopped car (most of those cases are done by little children), and walking parallelly with a car and suddenly try to cross the street in front of it.
@@ahmed-aw how long were you driving at 12 mph before seeing the pedestrian? Maybe in my case I was testing in a parking lot, and I couldn’t drive up to 12 mph as there wasn’t enough space to accelerate to that speed safely. Did you start to press brake yourself or let car to react entirely?
And do you also have ACC radar or just KAFAS camera?
