  • Hip arthritis (osteoarthritis) and pulled hip muscles can have similar symptoms. Treatment for the are very different. The good news is that both have potential to get better without surgery. Knowing the difference is important to make sure you have the correct treatment plan.
Hip arthritis happens inside the ball and socket joint of the hip. So it is usually felt in a specific spot on the front of the hip.
Hip strains are coming from the hip muscles like the psoas, iliacus, groin muscles and ligaments in the area. The psoas and iliacus are often grouped together and called the iliopsoas.
