- This geisha show was excellent and worth it. Got to experience a taste of history of Japan. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants to experience the history of geisha and the fresh delicious food.
I’m trying to enjoy the dance and it’s just SO ANNOYING and RUDE to hear people speak during the performances!!! So disrespectful!!!
If that's the only problem that you've got in your life consider yourself very lucky instead of whining here. Now go throw your temper tantrum someplace else.
Why did you make it "the only problem you have in life", The commenter literally just said it is disrespectful, and I agree aswell. @@grosbeak6130
Some people may not be able to see the beauty of this or the skill it takes because they are familiar with fast paced dances. But I'd challenge anyone to attempt this and NOT wobble around like a newborn deer. Most of you don't have the posture or balance to be this graceful. Dances don't have to be fast or dramatic to require skill and tell a story. Appreciate things from different perspective and open your minds. There is a reason why maiko/geisha culture is admired. Its truly a gift to see this in person.
Sending love from The United States
Getting up and sitting down then moving so gracefully around must take a lot of practice. I can’t help but stumble in my own saree despite wearing it so many times. Being a geisha is a touch yet graceful lifestyle!
If people dont know,
The 2 Geisha's.

@@YourMom-rq6yl No problem :]
to add on to your commet :) the one in the Grey kimono performer are called "Jikata" they sit in the back and play the music and sing and dress plain so all the attention is on the maiko dancing. shes a senior maiko judging by hair. Her hair style is called Ofuku. Jr maiko wear Wareshinbou hairstyle
@@tntexe8949 Yes! Exactly :)
rude people talking through the performance
but maiko delightful
Her kimono is so beautiful. Just amazing.
Yes it is. Glad you enjoyed the video.
The maiko I think is Kanohiro. She retired before becoming a fully fledged geisha due to the pandemic.
That's a Maiko. You can tell because of her incredibly colorful kimono.
And her long sleeves and long obi.
But everyone saying it's not geiko, the woman playing the shamisen and singing was introduced as a geiko, so the title really isn't wrong.
In the video is a beautiful Maiko! Not a Geisha. You can differentiate the two with these things:
-Maiko’s wear more brighter coloured kimonos with longer sleeves, while a geisha wears darker colours and shorter sleeves (to show maturity)
-Geisha’s have almost no hairpins, again to show their maturity. Meanwhile most Maiko’s use their real hair instead of wigs, and can wear a lot of flower hairpins
-The obi that a maiko wears is normally long, a geisha’s obi is tied in a knot
-Some but I assume younger Maiko’s wear only lipstick on the bottom lip (not all to sure)
- A geisha has also a different hairstyle than most maikos which is Geiko Shimada
It’s understandable that many people confuse the two, but a Maiko is just the apprentice of a geisha!
You are correct about how the Maiko's only wear lipstick on their bottom lip! In their first year, Maiko's will only wear lipstick on their bottom lip.
People should not be talking while the maiko is performing her dance. Very disrespectful.
Extremely disrespectful to talk during the performance. In fact it makes me turn it off.
One of the unnoticed skills is dealing with that long dress! (Kimono) anyone else would be tripping on the long skirts. Amazing and effortless!
I notice they shuffle walk and with flexed knees, the maiko uses a sliding kick shove motion very skillfully to control the long kimono edges that drag on the floor. I think they practice this as part of maintaing the kimono while moving around safely while dancing.
I lived in Japan for almost 4 years as a student but never ever had an opportunity to watch any of these shows (poor student, alas). Hopefully will be able to make it some time in the near future!
I hope you can tooo
I hope you can too! Find someone who can help with a private booking or I'm sure hotel staff can point you to group performances!
Love and respect the people of Japan and there ancient historic culture. respect from the middle east.
She is a Maiko, not a geisha. She is beautiful!
Hearing the rude guests talk during the performance reminds me why we can't have nice things...
That's absolutely silly.
I mea it's their money
@@smukase - Rude but true 👍🏼 .People struggle to realize that the customers have no obligation to roll out the prayer rug and go into weebly adoration mode 😹 !
You re the past of japan and the future.
I have a lot of admiration for you.
Most beautiful Geisha with such grace and artistry. Tyvm for posting this.
It’s so beautiful. The dancer as well the traditional dance ❤
Beautiful Maiko, great dance, amazing garments, wonderful musician.
……😑
If you are going to travel to another country, please show that country enough respect to learn their customs. You don’t have to learn everything, but, for example, if you’re going to go to a show where a Mako is dancing, read up on the customary behavior while watching. It isn’t hard to do and it’s polite.
And it’s deserved.
that looks really very nice ! I bet the dinner was good too, what a lovely experience
Lady literally said Maiko
Nice video my friend. Thx for sharing 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Geishas are beautiful.
Love it!! 💖🎶
She is not Geisha yet she is Maiko
The one who are talking during the show.. How rude.. This person should go to kids area.. The only place that suits him
Agreed.
Very calming❤
Just wonderful!
もちろん舞妓さんの踊り、衣裳、帯もいいけれど、地方の姉さんの三味と唄がうまいね。
She has a beautiful voice. Loved her interpretation 💜 slow, nostalgic, and femenine.
If the tourist said "smile for the camera" I would not be impressed.
Her artful use of the fans is most impressive.
wunderschön, Danke sehr 🙂
How can you talk?
is this song about the changing of the seasons? the fans having images of different leaves gives of the impression.
The second song is! The song she's singing is 'Gion Kouta' and talks about that 🥰
@@Ayadyla Im so happy I made an educated guess
What a performance. Only thing is I find it rude to be actively taking pictures during the performance. People need to sit down and show respect for the art form and then afterward and with permission then take pictures.
I know they may have told you it was ok just to be polite, but it is still rude to be taking pictures while they are performing.
not geisha , maiko ('apprentice geisha/geiko') from what i remember, correct me if im wrong but a way to tell the difference is meiko have 'Ware shinobu hairstyle with flowers and hairpins' geiko have less oranaments and a different hair style thats just one way to tell the difference.
I think the also have the long fabric in the back of their kimono. (Sorry didn't want to misnamed it). Geisha wear the same kimono 's other women would wear.
@@mizbootsie8175 The bigger fabric on the back is meant to be bigger because Maiko are entertainers who are still training to be professional Geiko, they use the extra weight from the fabric to train themselves to dance better, the many ornaments on the hair and colorful kimono is to mask their still developing dance skills. Professional Geiko wear less ornaments and duller kimonos, including a smaller ribbon on the back.
Another tell-tale feature is their collars, here I see her red collar
That's maiko not gesha
Well…. I can’t tell the difference between them
@@marayagury6222 maybe listen to the lady introducing them?
The geiko and maiko are properly introduced at the beginning.
Her collar should be red if she is a maiko but everything else is correct, so I’m confused why her collar is white. Doesn’t that usually occur once she’s graduated to being a geisha/geiko?
@@squeaksvolumes Her Collar is red, but because she is a senior Maiko her collar is White in Front, look at the back of her collar it is Red, A full Geisha's Collar would be white front and back. Also the lady playing the Shamisen is a Geisha a Jikata to be precise, but a geisha still.
Is anyone of you notice the fan that lies near the paper wall?
Respect
What is the song about?
I would like to understand the lyrics, sounds beautiful
I wish I can understand the lyrics too, it sounds beautiful. The lyrics to these types of music are poetic and beautiful. The song has the word “momiji” in it, so it’s probably about the season of autumn. Momiji are the red leaves, I think. Her fan hints at it since it’s decorated with red autumn leaves.
The second song is “Gion Kouta.” You can find an English translation online. :)
Nice music
Yes it was really good and the performance was amazing. Thank you for your comment. Please feel free to like the video, share it, and subscribe to our channel for more awesome videos.

❤
Maiko wear kimonos that cost from a few one million yen to ten million yen.
Were there people talking during the performance?!
Unfortunately yes there were other guest watching as well. The staff tried to quiet them, but they were rude. We hope it did not take away from the beautiful experience of the geisha performance.
Wow what disgusting crappy people to even keep talking after the staff told them to stop. This is why westerners/foreigners are seen in a negative light and uncultured. I guess they thought it was Disney world, pigs
@@curioustravel7004 It's fine. Shame on the guests who talked! They're so disrespectful but other than that, lovely performance ❤
Oden-sama!!!! 😭
Beautiful lady
That's a maiko, not a geiko, get your facts straight.
Alright weeb.
Actually, the woman singing and playing the shamisen is introduced as a geiko, so...
@@Deesamathey were talking about the maiko doing the dance
Some people apparently don't understand that most gringos don't know the norms of this type of custom and it's common to make mistakes. Don't blame the guy entirely.
3 ranks of geisha maiko geisha and oiran😂
They must be Americans, the rude ones talking . . . also the annoying woman manhandling her camera all over the place and not enjoying the performance. Very distracting. Be mindful and know you represent your home country when overseas.
As opposed to Cary Devours Pizza?
You assume they are Americans because...?
XENOPHOBIC weirdo
Actually the dance is boring and just almost same steps every now and then. But I do appreciate their skills and dedication to clients.
in that case peking opera is better
Every little gesture is supposed to represent an emotion, thought and object, sometimes all at once.
What do you expect when someone is wearing 44 pounds of clothing, (the head dress is not included) do head spins and twerk? You should research more because the dance is all about grace influenced by elegance and sophistication.

@@-Vitalis- That's one of those quotes people post because they think it sounds clever but if they actually had to explain it in other words they'd have no idea what they're talking about.
Next up: paint drying
It’s an art. It’s storytelling in music and dance form
You must be talking about your own life.
Yes I suppose so.
È una danza incomprensibile. Bisognerebbe conoscere di cosa parla la canzone. Le loro armonie, quella specie di chitarra è terribile.
è la tradizione, se non ti piace, non guardarlo.
I've never laughed like that. That's so bad.
?????? i hope ure joking right?
Thats their culture, don’t be rude.
no one asked though
I don't care what you think, I think it's so bad and had to laugh. If you don't like that someone can have a different opinion, don't read the comments. I didn't insult anyone, I just said my opinion.
@@michaelsturzel8771 If it's so bad then you don't watch it lol
It's so boring
This can only be a joke...
This is a beautiful culture older than your great grandparents😂 if u don't appreciate the tradition why bother being here?
@@ethiolove9444 I mean it's their opinion, and you can appreciate a tradition while thinking it's boring too there's nothing wrong with it. I think it's boring but I loved their performances and I love the history behind maiko & geishas. I can appreciate the skill and effort while thinking this specific performance is boring 🤷🏻♀️
don't watch it then? ur comment is incredibly pointless
This reminds me of "The Memoirs of A Geisha" the movie 🤍🤍🤍
My favorite movie😍
@@ronellepatterson4176 me too! Never get bored when i watch that movie 🥰
That's maiko not gesha
The one dancing is a maiko, and is introduced as such. The woman singing and playing the shamisen is a geiko, and also introduced as such.
