Maiko Spring 2012: Konpira Fune Fune, Geisha Dinner Games 【HD】

- The past April 28, we enjoyed the stunning performances of Geiko Miehina and Maiko Fukunae, from Miyagawa-cho, at the Kyoto Fan Event Maiko Spring 2012.
In this open event, held at KYOTO DESIGN HOUSE, people from all over the world had the opportunity to see and learn about the culture, tradition and daily life of these wonderful artists.
In the video, we see the "Ozashiki Asobi", or the dinner games that Geiko and Maiko usually play with their guests.
We all had a great time, learned many things about what the Geiko (Geisha) and Maiko (Geiko apprentice) really are and learned many details about their lives that you hardly would find on books or movies.
I would like to thank all the guests for coming and sharing such a wonderful afternoon with us. Also I would like to thank Miehina San and Fukunae San for their perfect presentations and for sharing a little of their secrets with us.

Did anyone notice how when Maiko Fukunae screamed in surprise when she lost in the first game, Geiko Miehina didn't look too pleased? LOL.

What are you talking about? She didn't look displeased, she just looked like she was focusing and ready to move on to the next lesson. There's nothing wrong with geisha screaming a little and being fun.
Showing emotions is only expected if the customer like asks for it. But I suppose you do that while playing a game so... no one would really care I guess

The stupidest games are simply the best. Ever heard of spoons?
because the fact they know how to make it a bigger deal makes it more entertaining and enjoyable. For example their body language, makeup and rithm song. If none of these things were there, it wouldn't be as fun.

This is one of the games that maiko and geiko can play with tourists since it's rather simple to get. retired geiko Komomo said in her book that she always liked playing the more challenging games with their repeat clientele vs these simple games.

this is such a genius game, it doesnt take much to play it (like you just need the little box), it can entretain kids and adults and its easy to understand

as with everyone, i guess it depends on the individual, but overall they're trained their whole lives to socialise and put people at ease, so i'd imagine so. obviously i can't speak for geisha or maiko, but i do know they're definitely required to be gracious and polite, as well as entertaining :)

Japanese girls wear traditional clothes they play very well. It is very difficult to defeat them. sometimes they will pretend to lose to win the heart and create a happy domain for players.

If I try to sit like the Japanese, the circulation to my lower legs is inhibited and I have to move my legs straight.
How long can Japanese people sit like this.
Well, it depends on many factors since they acquire that custom from a young time which generates some resistance; However, I have also seen that there are some who after a while move their legs sideways without changing their posture (although it is most seen in children)
