I’d planned on putting Toolbox liner on top of mine, instead of skateboard paper, but may amend to your updated Harbor Freight rubber tread recommendation. Wish I had seen your updated video before my Harbor Freight run the other day for the U.S. General base. If you are able to add a link on your original video write-up to your new (not so new now) update, I suggest doing so. :)
I initially went with my toolbox liner plan thinking it actually looked better initially, but once I had it on there and noticed the weights were too heavy for the material. Took it off and replaced it with your harbor freight tread pattern. Far superior.
Question for you. It looks like harbor freight also sells the same adhesive Mar in 12" x12" size. Is 12" long enough to cover the top front to back? I will be picking up the materials to build this today. Thanks for posting both videos!
Thanks for bringing this stand to my attention. I looked at the $70 one at Dick's and was not impressed at all! I am probably going to run the angle iron on the left and right sides instead of the front and back. This way, you can just drill a couple holes and the bolts will tighten down completely...one at each corner and no distortion of the metal. I could also use a strip of wood. How much of that tread do you have left? You could take your holesaw and drill out 4 pads for inside your adder weight holes...add some glue and push them in. Again, thanks for finding the stand!
Hay Michael, Thanks for you comment. The reason I ran the angel iron left to right is because I wanted to make sure it would support the extra weight of the expansion kits without sagging or breaking the press broad. This way the angle iron is under the weight instead of off to the sides. The expansion kits will turn each PowerBlock into a 70, 90 or 120 pound dumbbell. That will increase the weight that will be on the stand to 140, 180 or 240 pounds depending on which kit I go with. That's also way I made the length from front to back 16.5 inches. I think you should be okay if you don't plan on adding the expansion kits. Also with the the rubber treads on the stand. The PowerBlocks will not slide so you really don't need the front top peace of angle angel iron. Thanks again and good luck on your build.
Clifford Cooper I see what you mean about the expansion kits...I can and will go to 70lbs. I am assembling mine now and have used the angle iron with the multiple holes in it. I may just run it the whole way around but as of right now it's on the sides. It made it quick and easy to bolt on, which is why I went with it. Still need to get the treadplate and ahold of some holesaws...

Thanks. The adder weights are 1.437" X 5.25". I used a 1.5" hole saw for the holes.
