Smart Lock Hardwired To Power. No Batteries Needed!
In case anybody is wondering about power failures. I do have a backup generator that automatically comes on. You can also use a regular key to open this lock.
This is the DC power adapter I used.

I-77 and U.S. 224 crash 7/11/2022. Semi vs car

Looks like car stopped because they missed their exit. This caused traffic to suddenly stop for a moment. Looks like the semi truck couldn't stop in time.

It's amazing how the massive companies cannot hire engineers that would give the consumer the option of wiring these to power. But one man on a mission puts them all to shame. Thanks for the video/idea.

I used vinyl J bead for drywall. Cut to size and angle. Used hot glue on the angle. Then used 2 sided 3M tape to hold in place. Of course the open side of the J bead is facing the door jam so that it can't be seen.

This is an excellent video an a game-changer. I have a few rental properties and a few Airbnb apartments and my full time job is to constantly check these smart lock and make sure the batteries does not die, this can be very frustrated especially when you need to access the apartment without imposing on your guests. I found your video the only one out there, I did exactly what you did and order the parts as well, this worked like a champ. Now I'm out of a job. lol

Thanks a lot for the video. I did both the things you mentioned. But I could still hear the rattling sound / tearing sound which is so annoying. In fact it’s not doing all the times. But when the bass is high the subwoofer starts vibrating / rattling very badly. Any further solution for this? Thanks!

I have been thinking of doing just that but wanted to keep using the batteries in case of a power failure and not have a physical key to unlock the lock. I could add a small relay that would reverse to battery power when the power is cut off. I don't think it would be safe to keep the power on rechargeable batteries in there.

Cool system. More complicated than the mechanical float valve hack. Not sure why you have to clean the tank weekly though. I have never needed to clean my tank with the mechanical float valve filler. To reduce the number of parts inside the water tank could the stock float sensor be hacked as a fill switch?

That piece of sheet metal is the most common source of noise in these. It’s actually to keep rodents, and kids out 😂. I got rid of it immediately. I’ve never had the grill make any noise. Perhaps yours had a small crack in it (another common thing).

It's a pretty simple process. Only remove the back cover not the circuit board . Desolder the existing IR emitter from the board. **Note which wire goes to each side** There's is a ton of videos on soldering and desoldering on RUclips. Straighten the wires on emitter with pliers. Using the wire from a resistor or another emitter, etc. Bend the ends in the some direction as the emitter was before you straighted them out. Solder to board and cut to the length you will need. Solder the emitter to the those wires. Using a dremel. Trim the plastic to the size of the emitter. This will also determine the length of the wires.
