    FYI, I had the older urethane version and it ended up cracking over time. It’s welded with plastic not metal which is a bummer. But they needed to do this to add flexibility when setting the weights in the nested rack. I personally opted for the 5-50lb Personal Trainer Set which I absolutely love. I like the 2.5lb increments also. For heavy sets I use Ironmasters. The two sets are not cheap together but I feel you get the best of both worlds. Durability is key! Great videos keep it up!

    Good video quality footage. I made my u90 stand out of wood when it wasn’t more expensive than gold. I made it large enough to hold both bells and the set I’m using so you don’t have to always drop them back into the cradle. So basically four bells wide. Much nicer as can be seen in my page.

I appreciated your evaluation of the dumbbells stand, because I have always wanted to buy one for my PowerBlocks Classic….it has always been so expensive just to be a weights table. I'm actually looking to finally upgrade my bells of steel setup all I have right now is the power rack w/ a barbell and flat bench so I'm looking to grab a pair of adjustable dumbbells and bells of steel's adjustable bench. The problem is I don't know whether or not I should cheapen out and buy a knockoff pair of Bowflex 1090s for like $350 CAD or a pair of Powerblock U90s w/ the stand for $800 CAD off Facebook Marketplace or even just buy a set of Powerblock Pro EXPs brand new without the stand for around $1000 CAD that includes all 3 stages... I don't know whether or not the removal of those extra bars on the Pro compared to the bars that make you feel "locked in" or "trapped" on the older urethane versions of the Powerblocks is worth paying the extra few hundred dollars for... What do you think?

    Awesome video. I have both the U90 and the Pro 90 Expandable. Here's the crux: While the new Pro is more attractive, the difference is in the handles. The new locking mechanism is less precise and seems cheap. The new Pro handle is - for reasons PowerBlock support will not reveal - 6-12 mm smaller than the U90's handle. As a result, this introduces an uncomfortable amount of play. The U90's is more robust and significantly more stiff and snug inside what PowerBlock calls the "nest." Otherwise, the weight stacks are identical urethaned steel. Oh, and go to the Commercial section of their site to get the heavy duty DB stand you REALLY want! 🙂

    • @dtvolleyball
      @dtvolleyball  3 года назад +1

      I liked the construction of the pros more. But depending on the price difference the sports are more then capable. The biggest difference to me is the weight plates are welded together and the pros are bolted together. I was just able to get the pros for a good price, so it made sense.
      I was always planning to buy 5-100 individual dumbbells, but ever since I've had the powerblocks I've been happy enough with them to not blow more money on the gym haha.

    • @strawberryyogurt0
      @strawberryyogurt0 2 года назад +1

      @MrFuturehistory …. If you’re going to get the powerblocks, stick with either the elite or sport model, skip the pro version. Initially I was going to go with the pros until I read about humidity, temperature could cause the plates to detach from the support bars as seen in this random RUclips video: ruclips.net/video/txEiDqyjVaM/видео.html , there’s a few other like this. The elite and sport model don’t have this issue because the weights are welded onto those support bars.

      The first video linked earlier is to show that there’s a possible ‘defect,’ especially if someone is able to twist off the rods holding the weight plates. Not EVERY single urethane powerblock will meet that fate, but it’s something to consider. I chose to avoid ones with urethane and got the all metal Powerblock Sport 90 instead.

      I have both sets and I can confirm that the expansion sets of the pro exp model shown in this video will work on the u90. The site says they're not compatible but I believe that is only due to the colors on the side rails not corresponding with the weight chart on the different handles. I tested it my self when I got my new set because I was curious and also because my old u90s only went up to 70lbs.
