And this is why many Arsenal OG fans regard him as the most skillful and most important Arsenal player of all time. Your avg football fan only sees stats number of assists, goals and that's about it.

@@Legenda20SLOand charishma, football is a game that anyone can recognise the charishma/showcasing of skill when they witness it.
The thing with the past legends is that their footage in the present visual technological quality demand standard is scarce, so newer generations are going to know less about all past legends from before a certain particular age in time, the age of CR7 and Messi to be specific. You can't really fault them for it. Also, they are as much relevant to football, as long as they can move with the ball or at least they know it when they see it.
Unless of course when it comes to a team. For someone to speak for a team you've got to know your legends, or just shut your holes.

@@ismaeelmahmood8731 Yeah, big picture. One of the 4 richest clubs in the world and always a big club, but still unable to achieve anything beyond the pale the past 1,5 decades, closing in to 2. What he did after failing to capitalize on Invincibles was insanity to failure. No way around it. Arsene can't take credit for the state in the now, because Arteta has reshaped everything.
The reason Arsenal can compete now is because they've had a breath of fresh air from innovative thinkers and managers after Arsenes timely departure. He became the laughingstock of the Premier League and football world after a decade of stubbornness with the inability to adapt. He became, as pointed out, a specialist in failure. He did admirable work with Arsenal the first decade, and then he slowly ruined what he had built.
If you're referring to culture he brought that down as well. Ferguson built and jept a heslthy culture, but if the manager fails to uphold that and even introduces a bad one, then good culture won't matter. Arsene is to blame for Arsenals downfall after their rising, and Arteta (among others) is to be praised for the position they're in now. Arteta learned much from Pep as well as being a talented manager. Arsenal are much scarier now than under Wenger in his laughable final 10 year tenure.
      Next.

But wenger did what had to be done. He captained the ship when Arsenal needed a bigger stadium. He managed to keep the team in the champions leagues with minimal resources. That accomplishment will forever be be his greatest.
Arteta can spend the way he does because of the foundation Arsene laid.

    • @01bigtrev
      @01bigtrev 10 месяцев назад

The new stadium is what stopped wenger from really pushing on and doing what he wanted. I remember all those times he was being asked about players and became a running joke. On the flip side of that you have to say if it wasn’t for wenger keeping arsenal consistent through those years and maybe over achieving they would probably be still paying off that stadium now. Wengers legacy should also include making it possible for such a fantastic stadium.

You don’t improve overnight. That’s why Henry said he will get on to Toure about learning to make a long pass but for right now you can’t. So work with what you have.

@@immanuelsiregar7395 perhaps. But even in a team setting, it's not optimal to have laggards. We shouldn't EXPECT stronger members of a team who excel, to adjust to the laggards. The laggards should improve, ask for help or be removed from the group. MJ doesn't adapt, the team adapted to MJ because the team as a whole benefited when MJ was at his best

Love this. So obvious once you actually think about it.
I just play adult league co ed soccer and my buddy is great but he makes the same passes to everyone. He’ll make a 40 yard bomb to a girl who can barely dribble and get mad she doesn’t trap it and score. I had to tell him you need to in real time know who you’re passing to and their talent level and adjust accordingly.
Seems obvious but even great players don’t think like this. Only concerned with their own game.

This must be why Henry eventually moved to Barcelona so he could make whatever run he wanted with Iniesta, Xavi, Messi etc.

Why would Henry think he was the best player in the world when he isn’t even as good as 15 year old swaz lynch in academy

Because at one point he was the best player in the world.

Wenger sounding all intelligent and worldly wise in telling Henry that he is “asking the wrong question” actually smacks of somebody who didn’t actually have a clue himself of why Ljungberg couldn’t see him. This very same manager proceeded to overstay his welcome by a good ten years from 2008 to 2018 whilst signing a succession of terrible defenders and average players and persistently doing the same things season after season in derisory Champions League campaigns losing against either Barcelona or Bayern Munich and convincingly too. Looking back now it’s hilarious to think that this footballing fraud was trumped up as some sort of footballing guru or doyen when the reality was that he was anything but and old Father Time proved to be his biggest enemy.

So in a team sport you need to take account for other players? Mind blowing!
