    Held this upload for today because of Thanksgiving...which - happy thanksgiving btw!
    Also left out the metal square hood I've been seeing around. Looks nice but I don't think I need it...What do you guys think?

    • @ramoftherose
      @ramoftherose 3 года назад

      I have it and it’s definitely not needed lol purely for aesthetics. Actually makes it a hassle to change filters because you have to unscrew the hood to access the filter. Luckily for me, I don’t plan on changing/removing my black pro mist filter at any point.

    I love the thumb rest, I have a habit on pressing into the body , but I shoot with both hands. It just gives me a extra sense of security since I really like gripping the camera and it feels really ergonomic.

    Highly recommend a high quality leather half case. I thought they looked silly in pictures but found one that really sealed the deal on the beauty of this camera.

      I didn't think the half case looked functional but recently bought a used XPro2 that came with one. It actually surprised me and I have (so far) left it on the camera. Adds some height and width to the overall camera that is good for my fat hands. It's also a suede feel that is really comfortable.

    The strap is great looking, I just customized and ordered mine. THX for this hint!
    On the thumb rest: I had one on my X100 and - for me - it increase the handling a lot.
    My black X100V will arrive next week and I will try without the thumb rest, but will probably use it.

    Hyperion is a Greek company btw as it states on their web page (not UK) Hyperion is greek and means "the one who watches from above". Anyway useful tips, I was doubtful about thumb rests and grips (so that has saved me some money) I have ordered the strap so thanks for steering me there. Cannot bring myself to fork out on an Artisan Obscura shutter release, especially as these items seem to get lost very easily; tempting though they are?

    • @andrepel
      @andrepel  2 года назад

      yep, my mistake! i agree - after owning the shutter release for almost a year, it works well and feels nice but definitely expensive for what it is. i dont think i'd buy another unless i had that much expendable cash lying around

  • @iaincphotography6051
    @iaincphotography6051 3 года назад +2

    How much for a wooden button, crazy. Do some research, Fuji don't seem to like some of those buttons as they cause stress on the shutter release and damage has been caused. Notice the sideways float on the shutter release!

    • @andrepel
      @andrepel  3 года назад

      Yep, pricey but I've used it every day since. It feels much much better than a typical cheap shutter release and hasn't given me any problems whatsoever

      @@andrepel Hi! Just wanted to inquire. Saw in your other videos that you did change your strap to Moment's leather edition. May I ask though if the Hyperion strap did cause scratches on the sides of your X100v and to what extent? It's because I was considering to buy the same Hyperion strap as yours. Thank you.

    • @andrepel
      @andrepel  3 года назад +1

      hi, just saw this. yes, another viewer commented on my "durability" video saying my scratches may have come from the rings of my camera strap. this was likely because I had two sets of rings on. I think if you buy hyperion's camera strap and just use the rings that come with the strap you should be fine!
      I can't say 100% since I've stopped using the hyperion straps but it doesn't seem to make much contact with the body anymore!

    • @nathanielngosy
      @nathanielngosy 3 года назад

      @@andrepel Hi. Thank You. Watched your durability video (I've watched that before and wonder why I didn't recall its content which relates to my inquiry). Now I understand how it could have caused your X100 paint chips on the sides/edges. Still curious though as to why you changed your neck strap from Hyperion to Moment's? Is the leather strap more comfortable over Hyperion's mountain climbing rope material? [I have Peak Design's leash but thinking of selling it to settle on the Hyperion instead].

    Be careful with the soft shutter release. My x-pro2 shutter button got broken after pressure in a camera bag. Would't have happened with no soft shutter release mounted.

    Great set up. I do like the grip out of the box. But when I use a external flash I do like to use a grip extension. Same with the thumb grip. I have one but I like to use it when I have the camera on only a hand strap. When its around my neck not so much. Easy to hold and use. Excited to see what all you have to show. Looking forward to more from you. Take care.

      Bro im struggling weather to go with sony or fuji, fujis colours and ergonomics and stuff are beautful...
      And then sony has better, low light and a full frame...
      U got any advice on this,?

    • @andrepel
      @andrepel  3 года назад +2

      I'd say go Fuji if you want an artist's camera, the aesthetics, the inspiration.
      Sony if you need the capabilities, autofocus, reliability.
      Both will do a good enough job at what you need them to, but prioritize different things.
