    New X100V user so thanks for this video. Coming from the higher end cameras where it’s generally frowned upon to put any glass like UV filters in front of your lens, I get it. Though I must admit, especially given your images show no degradation, and the fixed lens on this camera, I’d be inclined to go reputable brand and leave it on there.

    There have been plenty of scientific tests using lasers on these filters showing the quality ones do zero to affect picture quality. I’ve been using them for almost 20 years exclusively instead of a lens cap.

    Have a look at the Hoage LUV-54B filter lens hood. It’s similar to the NiSi version but knurled and acts as a lens hood too. The original (& Haoge copy) lens cap fit over it correctly and snug. Another good alternative that I use. It also has a 52mm thread for a CPL if required.

      Looks interesting, but I'm not buying any more filters for this lens 🤣 in terms of filters though I'd always prefer to buy from a reputable filter manufacturer, rather than a generic accessory maker. I'd have ordered one from Formatt Hitech if they had any in stock! Thanks for watching 🤓

    Thanks. I have used the Nisi filter since I have had my X100V - I can discern no reduction in quality but, notwithstanding your valid comments about adding another layer of glass, it lives on the camera. However, I have clicked on your Amazon links and purchased a SILVER (Haoge LAR-X52W) Lens Filter Adapter - I'll let you know if the silver colour is a good match to the camera. I like the K&F Concept filter range - they too have a 'patterned' frame.

      Thanks for using my links, Rob! That's partly why I ordered the black one - I do like the look of the black on silver, but I also wasn't sure if the silver would match as well as the NiSi filter does. I actually just bought my first K&F filters last week, a couple of small variable ND's for gimbal work - very impressed with them so far 👌
      Thanks for watching!

      The Silver is a good match - slightly cooler than the NiSi and lens cap silver; very happy with the purchase.

    What's the point of the dedicated haoge adapter if you already have one included with the square hood? you can use that one similarly, can't you? Or you don't like the red o-ring?

    Will choose between x54B and JJC because they solve main 2 issues for me-Fingerprints (especially when family members uses camera) and flare. Option to use filter when needed is nice too

    Have you tried the B+W 010 49mm filter ? If you are going to put a piece of glass on ,this is the best you can get !
    It’s not expensive ! $25 US

    • @FamauMedia
      @FamauMedia  3 года назад

      £55 here in the UK! That's the Amazon price anyway. I always hear good things about their filters, but they seem hard to find over here. Probably Brexit related 🤦‍♂️

    • @nigelgauntlett582
      @nigelgauntlett582 3 года назад

      That’s ridiculous ! Even at my camera store they are $60 Can. That would be about 25-30 pounds ! Made in Germany with Schott glass ! The best thing they don’t get dirty real easy ; that Brexit has surely made stuff unaffordable !

    Thanks for the video! If I'm buying Haoge LH-X54B adapter+hood, will I be able to use an original lens cup with the adapter and filer only, without the hood? I really like the way this adapter ring look, so I would rather go with it than with a stand alone adapter LAR-X52B.

  • @ScrappyPoontachat

    If you fit an adaptor ring and maybe attach a diffuser filter, can you also fit a lens hood. What would be a good hood for this setup ? cheers.

    Oh interesting, I've made the mistake of ordering the Haoge LAR-X100B, it can screw on fine, it's just that the lens cap doesn't fit anymore.

    I told you in your previous post that the square hood comes with its own cap that fits. Looks like you didn’t read my comment earlier!

      I've just read it, and I'm sure you're right - but I didn't state otherwise 🤷‍♂️

    Thanks for the informative video! I just had one question about a few of the items.
    I'm thinking of buying the Haoge adapter ring and hood kit as well as the Breakthrough slimfit filter. Firstly, do these items all fit together ok?
    Secondly, the Haoge adapter ring at the end looked slightly different to the one that came with the hood kit. Does the lens cap still fit with the adapter ring from the hood kit as long as the hood is removed?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there, I found your video amazing. Could
    I get a little help, please. Which filter do you advise in the end.. They are many links below and I’m not sure which is the best to put the cap from the camera same time and place in the bag. I’m looking to buy the camera and it appears the filter is necessary. Especially, for rainy days in London

    Which is a more slim profile. The nisi or adapter ring plus breakthrough filter

    I think Fuji shot themselves in the foot with their design for the waterproof filter and lens hood. So it needs to be one of those you have, still not sure which one though lol.

      So. Many. Options. I'm really hoping their next iteration is fully weather resistant out of the box - my expectations aren't high though 🤣

  • @bradl2636

    So have you found a single filter / hood combo kit? I see two separate items to purchase here. Great video.

    • @FamauMedia
      @FamauMedia  3 года назад

      Some of the hoods come with filters, but I'd always recommend getting a better quality filter separately

    Basically, you possess perpetual gas for fuji X100V lens filters and hoods.

  • @craig_cunha

    Thanks for the comparison. Looks like they each have their pros and cons, with no perfect solution. The Nisi is attractive due to the lowest profile and sleeker design, but no hood.
    Regarding the Haoge LH-X54B, are you able to put the hood on the X100 without the adapter ring, if you have no plans for a filter? I think the Squarehood allows for that, which keeps the added depth to a minimum.

    • @FamauMedia
      @FamauMedia  2 года назад +1

      Nope, you need the adapter ring in the middle to screw the hood onto

    Hey mate, great video. I went and purchased the X2 UV breakthrough filter which im happy with but my fuji lens cap for x100v doesn't fit on.. is this something to do with my certain old adapter ring I have from a previous x100t or because X2 is different to X1? LA-49X100 is my ring code

    • @FamauMedia
      @FamauMedia  3 года назад

      No idea about the ring differences etc, but it's the X1 Ultra-Slim filter I have. Link's in the video description
