#5 is key and probably my favorite tip. In my entire time shooting photos, no one has ever asked me: "Hey, was that photo taken on an Auto setting?", like it mattered in the end. Great video as usual, Faizal!
I have been shooting fujifilm since 2018 and the size of the focus point has always been bugging me!!! Thank you so much for showing me a feature which I really thought the camera didn’t have!!! You just made my day!!!
I can't believe I've been shooting on Fuji cameras for 5 years now and never knew you could change the size of the focus point. This is a game changer!
I love my X100V! It’s the best camera I have ever owned. Capture One renders the Fujifilm RAWs the same as the camera does. I have used Lightroom but it doesn’t handles Fujifilm RAWs as Capture One does.
I'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but if you need another custom button, a half press of the shutter will lock your exposure. This allows you to recompose and free up the button you're using for exposure lock. Thank you for your videos.
I watched your POVs and wondered why the focus point was so small until I accidentally found that it can be changed. It's really a bit hidden. Thanks for all the tips! Great video as usual!
I was curious about trying out film photography but I was a little nervous about it so I tried getting a camera that best emulated that. Thus my purchase of the X-Pro3 in late 2019. This camera really changed me as up until then I had always shot fully manual. The exposure compensation dial feels so good that I just set the iso and shutter speed to auto and just adjust the aperture and ev dial. Get much more keepers and just enjoy photography much more. This camera feed my film curiosity more to the point where now I have like 3 35mm and 2 120 film cameras 😂
This is what I have found works for me. I like to shoot in Aperture priority with aperture mapped to front dial. With Auto ISO mapped to rear dial button, shutter speed is controlled via custom auto ISO settings which differ mainly in minimum shutter speed times. The 3 customs are basically for outdoor/daytime, indoor/night or whether I'm shooting moving subjects. I have exposure compensation set to C with it its function mapped to rear dial to control exposure quickly and exclusively with 1 dial. Most of the time the camera is in manual focusing mode, I use back button focus and focus check on. I use peak(yellow) focus assist, but switch to red if doing landcapes. Rarely do I miss focus and it's super fast for me. My Fn1 button switches view mode, so I can quickly turn LCD off and on. Fn2 I keep for Flash settings because I do use flash, I have external flash too, leaf shutter makes this a powerful tool. Q menu kept simple with 4 settings, custom profiles, LCD brightness, digital tele and photometry. My custom menu has a few items, but at the top I have White balance and film simulation as I frequently use these. But it is 2 pages of my most used settings from things like clarity through to face/eye detection.
Definitely agree about the Auto modes. I'd always say that it's a good idea to know how to shoot on fully manual rather than using the P mode as a crutch, but sometimes auto modes really are the best settings for the job. For most of my shooting where I'm on the go and reacting, I still like to keep my aperture on manual to control my depth of field, but the shutter goes on Auto and my ISO is set to an auto range. Why work so hard trying to do it all manually when the camera does it just as well most of the time and does it *much* faster!
I love your last point! Despite shooting in full manual currently, on my gen. 1 X100, sometimes I just set everything to A (shutter speed, aperture, and even the ISO at times) and just mess with the EV comp. knob. And it works every dang time (and even produces better exposure than my "calculation" at times 😂)
Hi, have you done a how to on back button focussing and exposure locking yet? I would really like to learn the method as a new Fuji guy. Loving your channel. Thanks
1:07 i don't shoot fuji so now im deciding if this should be my next camera system. Haven't paid much attention to their digital cameras but the looks alone are enough to make me consider
Hey faizal, any chance you’d share what brand t shirt you’re wearing here? I’ve been on the hunt for so long for a good t shirt and that one looks amazing. Hope you won’t gatekeep! Thanks so much, love the videos.
I am enjoying your videos and looking forward to more viewing. Information on the Fuji cameras is great as I just received my x100v. I also think your black and white pics are stunning.
You need an extension to access the embedded jpg in a RAW file for file explorer. I don't know where you can get it. I've been a Mac user too long but I remember going through that in the old days.
Thanks for sharing Faizal. I definitely can relate. Being an X100V user myself, I love their JPEGs and I also shot both. JPEGs are for my visual journal and if any of those JPEGs stood out for me and I'd like to edit it further, then I will go with the RAW file. Cheers.
Additional Tips, if you want the JPEGs from RAW as good as from the camera, download the fujifim raw converters. It is using camera processor tuh convert the raw file.
I'm more of a video guy but I did find this info helpful as I want to get better at shooting photos too. Your video quality is A1. I believe you use the A7Siii based on your video description. I liked your video and subscribed to your channel!
Can you use the exposure lock function if you're in full manual mode? I'm using an X100T and my exposure lock button only seems to work when my shutter speed dial is on auto. Thank you for your videos Faizal!
I have been using most of these for sometime now. I shoot with a Pro3 and X100V and save both RAW and Jpeg also, but I use the Jpegs 90% of the time since I use a lot of film sims. and really like that look... Thanks..
Your videos have totally changed the game for me, I've fallen back in love with my X100F after not using it for some time. Does anyone know if you can map exposure lock to the control ring button on the x100F?
I don't bother with photometry since exposure comp is there, but ISO and WB I can't live without. I like to have an EYE AF button and a AEL button too if I can, but ultimately with a good P mode like Fujifilm's minimum shutter, I can do 90% of my photography with only the exposure comp, WB button, and the shutter button. Simplified. ✌️
For the thumbnail of Fuji RAW file, I think you need to install the Raw File Converter from Fuji so that the computer has the codec to show the thumbnail. The thumbnails are showing just fine on my Win 10 PC.
@7:43 you can use an app called "nomac" as your default image- and raw viewer, than you will get thumbnails for the raw files. I find nomac to be nicer anyways because it is wayy faster than Windows' Photo app and it lets you use arrows keys to zoom in which I find very convenient. P.S. we almost have the same profile picture :)
great tips on back button focus, never tried this way of focusing, also metering and exposure lock are things i overlook a lot. i found changing focus point helps a lot for me, i wonder if u have tried the zone focus size of it, something i dont quite get used to, compared with a true manual lens zone focusing
How much do you notice the size difference of the viewfinder on the XE4 and x100v ? I’ve been trying to decide if I want to go with the Xpro3 or XE4 when I sell my xt3. I prefer the rangefinder styled bodies over the slr. So trying see to decide if the extra for the xpro is worth it.
Hi, great review. Is it possible to surpass the 10-minute 4K recording time limit/15-minute FHD recording time limit on X100V if you record into an external recorder like Atomos Ninja V? I remember it was possible with some other Fujifilm cameras like X-T3, but I'm really not sure on X100V and have not seen anyone mentioning this. Thank you
You talk about P-mode in this video. I own the Fujifilm X100S and there's none. Do I basically use P-mode when set the wheel to A and set a specific setting on the aperture ring? I'm confused!
@faizal @faizal - what battery charger would you suggest for the x100v ? I really would like to charger the battery externally via a wall charger rather than plugging it to my laptop. Is there a trusted battery charger you would suggest. Alternatively, how does the idea of directly plugging my camera thru a USB + OnePlus warp charge adapter sound. ? Would this spoil my camera. ? I am very anxious abt this and need your advice.. thanks
I got x100v while it released first time. It tends to warm (not hot) if i use continuous af and slow burst mode. This started in 5-10 min from beginning of shooting. Does this issue still exist?

That's a classic one
But locks the focus as well usually. If you only want to lock exposure, use AE-L.
some of these small details and settings are really really useful
thanks Faizal for helping me personally through my x100 journey 🙌🏾💕
I watched your POVs and wondered why the focus point was so small until I accidentally found that it can be changed. It's really a bit hidden. Thanks for all the tips! Great video as usual!
I found out by accident as well 😂

Been a Fuji owner for almost a year now. I have an Xpro1 and I LOVE IT
Nice! That is a classic for sure.
So glad to be a Fujifilm user and just learn how much this system offers me for my creative endeavor!
You are a honest and humble guy… keep it that way and it will take you far…
This gives dad vibes
great tips! I love that with Fujifilm, I can shoot in manual, but still use autofocus but now have the benefit of focus peaking!
One of the main reasons I got my x100V was your videos Faizal, you made me fall in love with Fujifilm! So thanks! Great video btw :D
Thank you!!!

As a long time canon user I have a love/hate relationship with my XT3, your tips were really helpful, thank you Faizal.
OMG I always want a small focus point, thanks for tip 3 !!!
exposure lock.
Mind blown. This is amazing.
Hi, have you done a how to on back button focussing and exposure locking yet? I would really like to learn the method as a new Fuji guy. Loving your channel. Thanks

I jumped in with both feet one year ago. Never looked back. Good luck!
My X-E4 just arrived... boy am I excited!
My number one tip for Fuji is manual focused possibly back button in the right situation.
Hey faizal, any chance you’d share what brand t shirt you’re wearing here? I’ve been on the hunt for so long for a good t shirt and that one looks amazing. Hope you won’t gatekeep! Thanks so much, love the videos.

Thanks so much! Enjoy the new camer!
If you double click the joystick the focus point resets to the middle so you don't need to disable it from moving around
You need an extension to access the embedded jpg in a RAW file for file explorer. I don't know where you can get it. I've been a Mac user too long but I remember going through that in the old days.
No need to disable the focus lever, the press to unlock option totally removes the problem of accidentally moving the focus box
Great video, I switched to Fuji a year ago and never looked back. I would love to see you do an example of doing portraits with Fuji.
Excellent video. Very good points clearly presented.Thank you.
Man this has me motivated to rearrange the buttons on my X100v. Really dig your exposure lock button setup.
Love to see it! Exposure lock is so handy when you use auto settings like ISO.
Hi Faizal, I just got the X100V, but I’m not sure how properly store it to avoid the fungus. May you pls share 😃
Fast picture viewer codecs will help you with the thumbnail thing.
Thanks for sharing Faizal. I definitely can relate. Being an X100V user myself, I love their JPEGs and I also shot both. JPEGs are for my visual journal and if any of those JPEGs stood out for me and I'd like to edit it further, then I will go with the RAW file. Cheers.
My favorites are the X-H1 and the X-E2 because those are what I have. I would love to have the X Pro2 and the 100v. Just a matter of time.
@@mrnavarropablo Is it the x pro2 ur recommending or the 100v?
that no preview bit for LR is the bane of existence

There’s a RAW Image Extension plugin for windows 10, I had the same preview issue before I installed it. Hope it helps.
Does that square lens cover come with it
Well done! What is the zoom lens on the Fuji pictured at 8:17 minutes?
Hey Faizal!
Where can I get that BEAUTIFUL lens hood you have on the X100V???

Greetings from Lumix GX9 (afforrdable small factor mirrorless camera) owner😉
I'm about to pick up an X-T4 and these tips were super helpful. Thank you!
glad this helped!
I use Iridient X-Transformer for my Fujifilm raw files, works great! Just sucks you have to add an extra step to your workflow.
Can you use the exposure lock function if you're in full manual mode? I'm using an X100T and my exposure lock button only seems to work when my shutter speed dial is on auto. Thank you for your videos Faizal!
There is a setting that you have to push the focus lever first in order to move the focus point around ... might help
there is! some cameras have it. Even with that though I still sometimes press in because the lever sticks out more than a regular button
@@FaizalWestcott yeah that's right tho I've never had that problem with my x100v and this setting on

As a Fuji guy, what are your thoughts about the X-A5?
Lightroom for iOs still does weird artifacts, specifically when using the sharpening tool. I no longer use it because it makes the image look crazy…😮
So every time you import raw files you right click them all and check raw detail?
Which one you like more for taking pictures - sony a7 III or fuji 100V ? If you could pick one camera to have , which one would you pick?
Hi Faizal, why remove the auto focus lock from half shutter press to the back button?
Hey Faizal amazing video as always. I'm trying to use the lock exposure but I cannot find it in the FUNCTION SETTING on the camera menu.
It's called AE-L !
Your content is always great! I do love it
I'm using Fuji X-H1 for a while
Good video
Do you have any tips for videography with X100v ?
It's almost unusable for videos
Haha I'm probably not the best to ask, I never use it for video. The built in ND filter is a nice feature to use for it though
I love my X100S but I want an X100V soooooo baaaaad! But my XPro3 would get jealous I'm sure.
Did u see the new insta 360 go 2 might be more discrete than a go pro!

Solid tips man, Adobe's actually come pretty far in terms of handling Fuji raw files, still not perfect but can't complain 😁
Can you make a tutorial on how to get the most out of a tube of toothpaste?
Next week
Ah, where can I get this exact lens hood from?
Thumbnail preview problem: do you use compressed raw files? That was the thing with my X-E3 and the previews.
Thanks for sharing these tips, Faizal! I always feel inspired after watching your videos :))
