I’m dropping off my 6th gen SS 1LE for headers, Corsa axle back, & E85 today. Plus plugs, wires, & tune. I’m VERY excited!! Planning on doing a heads and cam package, intake manifold, and CAI end of this year or early 2024. Hoping to make this 2nd phase a nice little Christmas gift to myself!!
Nice vid. My 6th gen is just about finished with its NA build. Have TSP heads, CSP spec’d cam, MSD manifold, rotofab CAI, TSP 2in headers, e85. Car made 535whp on E85 and 511 on 93. Goes in, in a month for an FTI billet triple disc 3200 stall converter. Hunting for mid 10s NA!
I have a 6 speed manual 16, and I’m getting ready to do H/C, but here’s my experience coming from a bone stock car to FBO/E85 is that the 4 best bang for your buck mods are E85, cold air intake, headers, and a catback. You could skip the catback in favor of an intake manifold cause the stock mufflers aren’t bad, but I felt that overall for the power and sound aspect those were the 4 best things to be done. With just those four mods my car made 441 on 93 and 453 on E85 on a dynojet in 70 degree weather in FL. These cars usually dyno at 390-410 stock, but I’ve seen some as low as 380 and some as high as 420. I don’t know what mine was at but definitely a big difference, and the sound was great. I wouldn’t skip an intake manifold. I later ended up doing an MSD intake manifold and it definitely added a lot of power up top, so it was worth it, and it makes an especially big difference if you cam the car. Porting the stock one is the better value but the best you can get without doing a high ram that makes the drivability suck is to port the MSD through pray performance. I did a stainless works cat back system and kooks 1 7/8 headers. Sounds incredible to me, I have sound clips on my channel for anyone interested.
2017 2SS m6 Roto fab Texasspeed VVT3 CAM Texasspeed CNC ported stock heads Texasspeed catted 1 7/8 long tubes stock NPP 535 RWHP I think a intake, throttle body, and E85 would add quite a bit more. You have to pull the heads to do a cam and headers are a given! The intake and throttle body are easy to do later, in my opinion this is the best way to build in stages assuming you're going all the way.
Crazy! I’m actually thinking about buying another 6th gen to build NA. Stage 3 for me. But I’m also keeping my current 6th gen which was built with boost. Your content is always on point
My build: I have a 2018 Camaro 2SS (automatic) and it’s my daily so my mods aren’t too crazy but here they are: Ported throttle body, Muffler delete, K&N black hawk edition cold air intake, oil catch can (not a power mod I know), and that’s about it, my last couple of mods I plan on doing was to get long tube headers (Texas speed is the option I’m thinking of going with), and a borla exhaust hence why I’m gonna watch lethal’s video on borla exhausts (ATAK vs S type) but yea lol oh and a tune of course to accommodate all these mods, I was thinking of going e85 but here in my town there’s no e85 stations I know of plus I just wanted a bit more “kick” out of my daily driver, and a bit more “fun” with my friends in “ Mexico “ lol but yea nothing too crazy i know but that’s what I want my build to be and best part is I’m so close! Wish me luck bois!
I have the Borla Atak and its a great sounding car paired with a good cold air intake. Im looking for somthing to do next not sure what to do with no performance shops around.
I would say I have a close to max effort NA car that would probably be putting down 560-580 NA. I also have nitrous kit but am using a standalone nitrous fuel system running c16 to fuel my nitrous to help with predetonation and also with e85 helps keep the temps down in the cylinder. I run a 100 shot and the car is probably around 650 on nitrous and didn’t have to worry about upgrading any of my fueling of the stock system!
Very good info, I would lump the cam and ported heads together as you have to remove the heads anyways to do the cam. And labor wise it will save you a few hundred dollars to just do the ported heads at the same time as a cam. And I would say stage 3 would be a converter.
Nice vid breaking down some mods for people. My setup is a 2019 1SS A10, 2” Kooks, green cats, delete 2nd cat and muffler, stock heads and intake mani, E85 kit, GM CAI, stage 1 Texas speed cam kit, 95mm TB, AEM wideband, ECU and TCM tune, 470whp on mustang dyno in Vegas heat but wasn’t running right and E sensor issues so didn’t want to push it. Later got remote tuned and runs strong but haven’t dyno’d since. Moving into boost now. Waiting on Whipple kit to be made, got LT4 complete fuel system w/voltage booster, rotofab big gulp, fresh MSD wires/NGK plugs in heat spec for new setup. Didn’t do forged internals so fingers crossed🤞🏻
Did you ever do the boost without changing the internals? If you did, how is it? I want to do buy a PROCHARGER, but I'm concerned that even at 7psi it'll do damage to my internals if I don't forge them.
I have a drop in filter soler performance throttle body and new era performance cat deletes with the lethal performance flex fuel kit and I’m at 461hp and 474 tq great basic bolt ons if you don’t want to spend a bunch of money on long tube headers imo

Full exhaust, msd intake manifold, k&n intake. Current 437 wrhp and 440 torque. Don't have stock numbers. I am running road courses. Change wheels and tires makes huge difference.
@@Ws6Ms Seeing a 2020 1LE on my local car lot, and all the C8 hype may have caused me to make a rash decision. I could make a big list of pros and cons vs a 5th gen. I'd say it just depends on what you would want from owning a new 1.
2016 1SS M6 with Roto-Fab cold air intake with sound tube delete, TSP 1 7/8" headers with high flow cats, MBRP 3" cat back race exhaust I got 433 RWHP and 442 RWTQ on a Dyno Jet. Since then I installed a TSP/Prayporting cam package with E85 in April. I have yet to get back to Indiana Musclecar to put it on the same Dyno to see what I pick up with the cam package and E85. Next up is a Prayporting throttle body, intake and heads.
Would be interested in doing a NA SS for the street to match a stock ZL1 at the wheels. I wouldn’t mind owning either. I just think NA with big power gets a little more respect
It's funny listening to all of his list. Knowing I have an '18 RS. Yeah, a V6. Everyone tells me to dump it for a V8. Problem is, I'm pretty deep. I've got a supercharger (roots style), and now I'm getting a smaller pully, and re-tuned for optimum daily, and WOT performance. With any luck I'll be 415~ WHP give or take when I pick it up. for a V6, that's pretty good, and should beat most anything (Not V8 supercharged) on the street?
Great video man. I’m currently stock other than a RF dry but have TSP 2” headers with x-pipe & a FF kit sitting in my back seat/trunk & waiting on Pray to finish porting my stock TB/IM. Hopefully he can do a baseline for me before installing the parts & dyno tuning. I’ll be sure to update with before & after numbers once he’s done.
Air Ace I completely forgot about posting my numbers lol. I didn’t get a baseline due to time constraints but the best he ever got out of a stock LT1 was 398. I ended up at 469 in pretty terrible weather for a dyno since it was nearly 100 degrees & humid as hell. My best guess is I would’ve gotten at least 75 if I had a baseline that day, but I can say for sure it’s a night & day difference. My bro in-law just bought a Hellcat & after driving them back to back, I feel pretty good about beating him in anything other than I high speed roll.
I have a max effort NA setup , Roto fab, Mamo ported MSD , NW 103, E85, SW 1 7/8 cat less headers with X pipe with mufflers , NA stage 4 GP tuning Cam, LME ported heads, FTI 3800 stall torque converter , ATI UD damper , car made mid 500s on a mustang dyno , car is fun to say the least lol.
Hi guys I am new to camaro have 2016 camaro ss 10k miles I love the car is all stock what did you recomend for mi first mood ? Also did you guys think that deleted the mufflers is a good idea and also the cats?
I think what Matt is saying is that if you were to do that, the caveats are that your car will be loud as hell ALL THE TIME. Plus, you'll still need to get it tuned to run worth a damn. There are even a lot of performance shops that won't touch a car like that, especially in certain States. Personally, 120db exhaust all the time isn't my thing. Furthermore, the tune itself is probably going to get you 20 - 30 hp(?) and the open exhaust might only get you 10 - 15hp. I'm considering installing butterfly valves forward of the 2nd cats, if that is possible. Hoping to get at least 40hp with an accompanying tune, but I'm still in the research phase....and she is still under warranty :)
Well I kinda now my way around cars not really but I want to do a na build with my ss I know I want a Texas speed cam kit and some speed engineering header already installed a k&n intake im just looking to get 500+ whp i just dont knkw anything about cams so I haven't decided which one I want plus I see people with the holley hi rams do they really make a difference?
What do you reccomend for ppl who don't have a performance shop? All I have is general mechanics you can't trust with advanced performance stuff. I did the cold air, full exhaust, and most of all bigger wheels and tires. 305s on the back 275s on the front to make use of all the power I have rn. Mines a 2017 fifty edition so I dont wanna chop her up to much just looking for some easy power to grab without to much tuning.
Interior Trim Question: Is it possible to just swap out the interior accent color panels? Considering a Hertz Black SS for sale, but want to swap out yellow int accent trim.
What kinda info you got for my 2011 1ss L99 automatic. All stock got about 45k on it. What do you recommend for upgrade stages? Is there a huge power difference in the LS and L99 engines that came in the my year model Camaro?
The only thing I would add to the end of "stage 2" when you say the power levels are getting close to supercharging is this. I say this especially for guys like us in CA. With a S/C you can be at that power level and be 100% CARB compliant. With the N/A mods not so much. I went with a TVS2650 and nothing else and I am happy with it. I don't think I want to do more anyway until I can get all the driveability back on the auto trans (in manual mode). That's one area where N/A is nice. I heard there may be some plug and play ECU's on the horizon for DI engines that can give me a stock like throttle input and shifting.
Is stage one upgrades with hi flow cats and street a tune gonna give me any smog passing problems? Also at what stage does the cylinder deactivation feature get tossed out the window? Love the channel and thanks for taking the time!
LethalGarage I live in California so I guess every 2 years we gotta slap the stock exhaust manifolds for smog! all stock now but weighing options after warranty is almost up. Thanks for the response!
can i tune my car on E85 hybrid so i can let's say have e85 and 87 or what ever 91 compatibility? i know sometimes is hard to find e85 gas station and that would be a little bit annoying if i would be limited to only e85, great video by the way!

Joe Tranello I haven’t raced it in the 1/4 since it was stock. It’s built for road course and autocross. I’m also at 5000 ft elevation with a DA in the 7000’s. Not great for drag racing.
I have the same build in my '19 Stingray M7. Halltech CAI and Borla ATAKs. Very similar numbers. I think 480whp/490tq is about as much as you can get out of any fbo non-cammed build.
Hey Lethal, I've recently watched your entire series building up your 2SS. If you were to start now with all the options what would you have done differently, which mods would you have not considered or ignored?
@@Lethalgarage thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately where I am in Canada E85 is non-existent :( CAI on order and will be on soon as it gets here!
Farhan Noor well what I did was I got a ported throttle body (Katech) , a cold air intake (a k&n black-hawk edition one), an oil catch can (not a power mod but it is recommended since I do daily drive my car as well and wanna keep it for a long time), and a muffler delete (I’m thinking of going with some long tube headers, and a nice borla axle back system as my final 2 mods (oh and a tune to accommodate everything of course, I got my tuner guy lined up for me at the shop when I get my headers lol) but yea that’s it for me tbh, since I’m not trying to be the fastest, I just wanted my daily to have a bit more “kick” if you know what I mean, that and whenever I go mess around with my friends in “ Mexico” I wanted to have some more “fun” lol
I love the video and how u explain everything, I have a 2017 Camaro v6 and I want a deep sound and power can u recommend a company that can make my CaMaro better in Virginia?
I know MagnaFlow usually does a pretty good deep sound Muffler but don't know how it would sound on your car I know it would give you more horsepower though. I had the same problem with my Nissan Pathfinder I wanted a deeper sound but I settled for a MagnaFlow because that was the only one I could find I tested so many Mufflers I worked at a muffler shop LOL MagnaFlow was the best for that V6 but it was a 4.0 might be a difference. I also had a Nissan Altima that had a V6 3.5 and the best sound come out of that was a Stillen performance stainless exhaust sounded really really good

Good video very informative. Still waiting for my 2020 1LE to arrive. Never owned anything with this much HP I plan to get used to it until the warrantee is up then see what is available. I know I want to keep it NA not interested in a supercharger. Not a ton of speed shops in VT but there are a few.
Because it’s still way cheaper. I picked up my 2017 SS for 18.5k and it was in great condition, hasn’t been to the shop at all. If I do full stage 3 and make 600-650 to the wheels, and then slap on a supercharger, I can easily make 750-800. I’ll be under 40k and have a car that can stomp a ZL1 like it’s nothing

Interior Trim Question: Is it possible to just swap out the interior accent color panels? Considering a Hertz Black SS for sale, but want to swap out yellow int accent trim.
I’m not sure if I want to go down the route of a supercharger or FBO ...
I would add stroking your engine, adding displacement is also in the max effort department.
I have been told if we cam our car in California it won't pass smog. Is there any truth to that?
Yup
What kinda info you got for my 2011 1ss L99 automatic. All stock got about 45k on it. What do you recommend for upgrade stages? Is there a huge power difference in the LS and L99 engines that came in the my year model Camaro?
you need headers CAI and tune
I’m new to modifying what difference does a ported make vs non ported ?
Lethal garage I have a 2019 camaro ss need some good bolt on to make more horsepower
Cold air intake is a good start. A good brand one not that autozone shit
Love the show
How reliable are the LT1? Are they just as good as a LS3?
For the most part. DI can make more power up until you run different than stock fueling
Did you ever do a rotofab vs stock intake video?
So you don’t need a Catback exhaust?
A catback exhaust gives no performance benefits. Full exhaust with headers will.
seems like FBO E85 cars run better than cam only cars.. for LS3 and LT1 Camaros
Is stage one upgrades with hi flow cats and street a tune gonna give me any smog passing problems? Also at what stage does the cylinder deactivation feature get tossed out the window?
Love the channel and thanks for taking the time!
Cam would remove AFM, any headers will cause you to fail the visual
LethalGarage I live in California so I guess every 2 years we gotta slap the stock exhaust manifolds for smog! all stock now but weighing options after warranty is almost up. Thanks for the response!
8 years on a new car
LethalGarage man it’s been a while since I’ve had a newer car lol. Thanks for the info.
can i tune my car on E85 hybrid so i can let's say have e85 and 87 or what ever 91 compatibility? i know sometimes is hard to find e85 gas station and that would be a little bit annoying if i would be limited to only e85, great video by the way!
That is what FlexFuel kits are. They allow you to run one fuel or the other or even mix
How about. How far can u go, staying Somg legal?
At this point, anything that doesn’t require a tune.
I have a 2019 camaro ss need some bolt on na power
Good shit😁👍
Hey Lethal do you think msd spark plug wires are worth the money....
They won’t make more power but may help with clearance issues with some headers.
What’s a decent cost for a Cam with install? 2020 SS.
$3,500-$4500 installed with all parts
2017 2SS Rotofab CAI, Nick Williams 103TB, MSD Atomic Airforce intake manifold, Stainless works 1 7/8 long tube header with cat delete, full stainless works redline series exhaust, and dsx flex fuel tuned on e70 by JDP Motorsports. 475 Hp to the wheels on a dynojet on sae.
Does the msd intake manifold fits on stock throttle body?
Hussain14000 Yes, it comes with an adapter plate in the box for the stock throttle body.
Same build but 1ss 6speed manual, stage 2 cam
Hey Lethal, I've recently watched your entire series building up your 2SS.
If you were to start now with all the options what would you have done differently, which mods would you have not considered or ignored?
What about muffler and cat delete?
Zero power gains
I want to do all bolt ons except headers lol. I want the same sound
Great video for newbies! Thanks for doing this! What mod do you recommend for daily driver SS wanting more torque and throttle response?
CAI and E85 would be a great way to start
@@Lethalgarage thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately where I am in Canada E85 is non-existent :(
CAI on order and will be on soon as it gets here!
Check into pedal monster throttle controller, not really a n/a item or power builder, but it helps enormously with throttle response!
I also had a Nissan Altima that had a V6 3.5 and the best sound come out of that was a Stillen performance stainless exhaust sounded really really good
I figure i just post my mod list of what i have so far. Haven't dynoed it as i got it before Covid hit. some point i want to get it on the track to race around some. I know some of these parts are looks but they are my changes none the less so I know what I have done.

Can you make a video about trans tuning ?
I’m not a tuner, so that would be a hard video to make
What's your take on a pedal commander? I noticed an instant difference and it's all positive!
Great video man, one question about the Heat. I live in South Texas and it is very humid sometimes my car feels like it is losing power on a extremely hot day, any ideas on keeping it cooler.I try not to drive it hard when it's that hot. 2016 2ss
It’s just how it is. Mix to much humidity and heat and your car will hate it
A V8 should only be naturally aspirated. Boost is for small engines, we have the cubes.
Indeed my friend.
I know a dude that have a 2016 camaro v6 with full bolt on a8 transmission he dyno 323rwhp his car so quick be beat the the 5th gen camaros as easily
a stock L99 yeah maybe
Good video very informative. Still waiting for my 2020 1LE to arrive. Never owned anything with this much HP I plan to get used to it until the warrantee is up then see what is available.
I know I want to keep it NA not interested in a supercharger. Not a ton of speed shops in VT but there are a few.
I have 2022 2ss and I like my car just as it is. If you start going into your motor you are asking for trouble and more money involved.
Not sure I agree… done right, you get a more solid car
How to upgrade a Camaro that looks like a Malibu.
i don't really see the point of building an LT1 as you are basically just building an lt4. Simply put save your money for more months and buy a Zl1.
Bolt ons don't require a tune...unless you wanna keep the engine lol.
Long tube headers require a tune unless you want to loose power.
Us 6gens already beat any other NA v8s out here
I just want enough to WHOOP A HELLCAT AND A FBO 10 SPEED MUSTANG
i have a gforce fbo e85 hi ram intake 200 shot of nitrous 18 Camaro , who wants the smoke ?????
Fbo, 150 shot, e85, H/C Pray Performance SS, Run it for $1k+. Serious run only.
Get rid of the annoying background music Matt....
