I iwll get the Jato 4x4 VXL as soon it is released here in Spain because it is more track ready IMO. Good review, solid info, Kudos.
I'm general, I don't think (and don't think others think) that this new Jato is 'bad'. But, stuffing it with the "low end" BL-2S electronics, THAT'S why everyone is putting it down. Our another way, Traxxas didn't just "deep the ball" on this one, they shoved it "6 feet under". Honestly, it wouldn't have cost Traxxas much more than a few dollars extra to have put in the VXL system (as well as a better servo). I'm sure I'm not the only one that sees this as nothing more than a typical "Traxxas money-grab"...especially if they're already planning on releasing a 3S/4S version next year. Talk about a great way for Traxxas to "piss off" their customers.
Bc they’ll lose all the sales on vxl that’s 500 equal profit margin to . The all plastic which is dirt cheap for them to produce, the metal parts make it less profit ,

How much would it cost to upgrade a Typhon 3s to all metal gears except for the spur, metal pivot balls, better shocks, more durable chassis, clipless body, etc? Answer that and you'll be closer to knowing.
I totally called Mark Santa Monica and his review in the comments of your first run video of this buggy. He really thinks we're that dumb or he actually is. Truth isn't hate. Calling out the obvious isn't hate. Just because you don't like what's said doesn't make everyone haters. Then Traxxas boys are cult like in their toy obsession. Everyone is free to spend or waste their money however they want but if you make a video advertising it then I'm free to laugh about it.
I have a Traxxas Sledge. I'm glad I stopped there. Spent $2000 to make it as durable as my Arrma Mojave Grom. 😂😂😂 BTW I've every model in every color for the Grom series. And a few other bigger Arrmas. Arrma is❤ Arrma is life.
He's a sycophant. Honestly MSM is just an influencer. He says whatever he needs to keep the corpos happy and giving him free stuff. People shouldn't take him seriously.
Mark says in his video at the traxxas store “it’s only $20 more than a slash 4x4”. There ALL too expensive in there respective classes. People will but this junk and traxxas will keep selling it 🤷♂️. People don’t just hate things for no reason the price of rcs has gone way down recently and quality is going up. traxxas is stuck in the past
With brands like mjx rlarrlo corally and of course Arrma coming out with affordable rigs it’s like a no brainer. I guess traxxas doesn’t read these comments 😂
With the abundance of options available for equal or lesser money and that will outperform this buggy, why would anyone buy this? Humor me here and just take the brand name out of it, LOOK at the product and what it offers vs what it costs and tell me if you think this thing is worth the box it comes in? It's a total waste of money - money that Traxxas stent developing it and money that people with blind "brand loyalty" will spend on this thing. If it was cheap, and I mean really cheap, then you'd forgive a lot of what was said in this review and no doubt the score would be very different as would most people's opinions on this buggy. But as it is, this I either proof Traxxas is trolling its fans for laughs or they really do have their head that far up their own arse. As for the 4S version coming out next year, yeah, I'm sure it'll be awesome, but it will also be overpriced and once again be outmatched by cheaper competition.
Well said. Ignoring the price and the must-have upgrades, it does actually drive well, it's just unfortunate that most people will honestly miss out on that because they're just not going to buy a $350 USD 25mph 1/8.
Or put another way, once you take off the brand label, this is essentially a $350 roller that comes with a plastic center shaft, a plastic center brace, plastic hubs, a plastic geared servo, plastic shocks, a plastic slipper, a down spec transmitter, and non-standard wheels.
@@JT-6s with the list of negatives/deal breakers you just mentioned, it will be truly baffling that anyone in their right mind would buy this buggy. Prices for the Jato 4x4 haven't been announced yet here, but if it's $350usd, it's gonna be somewhere in the $550-650aud mark, which is absolutely absurd for this car! Even if they can get it under 500 ($499), it's still stupidly overpriced. This Jato 4x4 is the biggest flop of the year by miles, it even beats out the MJX 1/10 truck that had a really messy launch. LoL. I'll bet this buggy will have a new name and power system in the next 12-18 months, just watch. 😉
@@AussieRCPlayground Rcs are more than just electronics. The rollers are most important. I will buy this eventually because I want a durable plastic chassis buggy and it is overall better than a Typhon 3s. One less cell is not keeping me from seeing everything else included here, like it is with some other people. Abundant affordable parts don't hurt either.
@@JT-6s How much would it cost to upgrade a Typhon 3s to all metal gears except for the spur, metal pivot balls, better shocks, more durable chassis, clipless body, etc?
Amazing how everyone wants to be true r/c enthusiast but can’t seem to upgrade their own r/c. Then when Traxxas upgrades it and charge for it, the same lames will cry its over priced, people never fail.
If i were planning product at Traxxas I'd drop the 4x4 BL2S cars. They're just a poor value overall. They should only cost ~$20 more then the 2WD cars based on content. But it's an $80 up-charge that's basically based on where they fit in the lineup. They got rid of the 2WD VXLs based on poor sales. For my money I'm either buying a 2s 2WD for my son or a VXL 4WD for me.
Mostly I agree, but I gotta say, the BL2S is really good for kids. My three year old drives his BL2S in training mode no problem! If I gave him a 3-4S car I’d likely be paying my neighbors in property damage.
@@thisisbenji90 I've just started letting my 5 year old drive my XL10 Rustler on training mode. There's definitely a place for the less powerful systems, but I think it's probably the 2WD cars. I don't really want to spend $350 on his first car. I'm currently trying to decide between the XL5 and BL2S Stampede. I'm actually leaning toward the XL5 since there's so much included for ~$200
@@thisisbenji90really I think the program is Traxxas over-values both the BL-2S system and their 4x4 platform. They'll make the HD kit standard at no upcharge but they finally make Brushless standard and increase the price by $40 and remove the free battery & charger. It's like an $80 upcharge. You might actually be better off buying the XL5 and a Hobby wing Quicrun system.
The 4x4's are way better than the 2wd platform, but that's more a commentary on how ancient the 2wd's are than saying the 4x4's are amazing. The 4x4's are like a decade newer than the 20 y.o. 2wd's.
@@RazorRC I get what you're saying. The '94 Rustler actually turned 30 this year. They're old trucks. There's been a few incremental updates so they're still as good as entry point as they were when I bought mine in '99. We've come a long way from the original AM radio and Mechanical Speed Control days.
it could have been awesome the community had been building DIY backsplashes for the better part of a decade but there multi-million research department couldn't have figured this out!!! Traxxas messed it up as normal,
these pp that make the cars now just use a cookie cutter design anymore. They cant even make a battery tray big enough, standard tooth servos... etc. So yeah, its garbage. Anyone serious about the hobby would skip right over this model

There not bad just not the fastest I’m frugal and couldn’t wait for 4s esc to go bad and it took a beating snow rain mud ect ect I did used to go through 3s guys back in day I think wd 40 would push water inside
Yeah, I know what you mean.
Mod 1 36t 18t pinion !!! 4s mine already doing low 80s…
Remember when the jato was a stadium truck?
...... Of course msm would put out a positive review... He's on the traxxas payroll 😂
He's on the approved Traxxas list.
@@RazorRC Yes & you only have to say to much negative about Traxxas products & your soon off of Traxxas approved list lol.
00:02 I’m asking for this for Christmas 😮😅😢😅😮😅😮
Traxxas controller’s are really slow..
I am a Traxxas guy but this is embarrassing! Way overpriced and whats actually good about it? I think this may be it for me. Come on Traxxas!!! Thanks for the video I gave you a thumbs up but this buggy gets a hell no!
The 4s guy does look sharp .
problem for me is just the name. oh, and price. but mostly the name. Jato was already taken and this ain't it.
whoever's been naming their cars lately needs to be... fired.
Its just a name... U caring about the insignificant, rather than the important, in an rc.
The jato is a low end item for high end money. It is terrible compared to the syncro4 or the typhon, who is buying this?.
🤷♂️
How much would it cost to upgrade a Typhon 3s to all metal gears except for the spur, metal pivot balls, better shocks, more durable chassis, clipless body, etc? Answer that and you'll be closer to knowing.
@@truerc closer to knowing what?
@@iainlee4680 the answer to your question
@@truerc it’ll still be cheaper than upgrading that “Junko” I mean “Jato/Walmart Special” into a decent 8th scale buggy?🤷🏻♂️👍💯😂
This is only worth about $250 and $399 for the vxl. Also the name needs to go. Don't understand why they used the jato name for this
This is what you get when middle management is promoted to soon. Maybe the product designer works from home.
Yeah, 250 for a slash 4x4, but better. No problem with that logic.
Yeah Mark is such a corny fanboy.
It is much more cultlike to focus on one less cell and ignore everything else that is overall better than the 3s Typhon for example.
Your correct @@IISG93II
Has anyone put a 3s system in like a 3s arrma or hw ?
He has arrma motor in it now
good idea, too slow, too costly, too budget for the price.
I think Traxxas worst RC car is the trx4mt, a mini monster truck for 200.00 that does a whopping 4mph, could be a handful to control.
if you are a nitro person! you had better pick up the traxxas jato3.3 this 4.4 is to replace the jato nitro!
It's a good platform
Mark says in his video at the traxxas store “it’s only $20 more than a slash 4x4”. There ALL too expensive in there respective classes.
People will but this junk and traxxas will keep selling it 🤷♂️. People don’t just hate things for no reason the price of rcs has gone way down recently and quality is going up. traxxas is stuck in the past
Yeah, that's part of why I mentioned that you have to compare the price to other brands/cars, not just to other Traxxas cars.
With brands like mjx rlarrlo corally and of course Arrma coming out with affordable rigs it’s like a no brainer. I guess traxxas doesn’t read these comments 😂
True, which is why people are going to alternatives, and not forcing themselves to buy Traxxas
Get a Kraken Vesla gas instead... you wont regret it :)
This should've been fitted with the 4x4 vxl not the Bl system. It's a 1/8th scale
Do not think calling it a Jato is justified. But the brushless looks good. And a race class possibly.
I hit button but dam 88 bucks for that motor imagine that 😮
Traxxas trash
Not trash wrong price.
@@hamsterwolfTrue
I can't wait to smoke these next season with my AE B4.1 😂
As with all Traxxas rc’s, too pricey and plasticky ( not to mention toyish). No thank you.
Feels like a rip off, made in Taiwan for 60 bucks. Then sell it to us for 350, come on traxxas
it could have been awesome the community had been building DIY backsplashes for the better part of a decade but there multi-million research department couldn't have figured this out!!! Traxxas messed it up as normal,
A grea idea that should've been released 10yrs ago with a vxl. Traxxas has gotten fat and lazy
these pp that make the cars now just use a cookie cutter design anymore. They cant even make a battery tray big enough, standard tooth servos... etc. So yeah, its garbage. Anyone serious about the hobby would skip right over this model
Fastest nitro to slowest electric
I mean a 2s is a short track car .. should be fine
Value = 1
Maybe. It was a close decision.
I can't believe anyone would buy this
If they really absolutely had to use the jato name the could have at least called it an e - jato like they did with the e - revo.
25 mph 😂😂
But yet the arrma typhon 3s does 50mph🙄
Theres just no value. Lacks basic stuff even the 4s
This doesn’t look good for a company claiming to be the fastest 😂. I d really like to get an xmaxx or srt though .
I noticed they didn't write "the fastest name in RC" on the box...! Truth in advertising at last!
Cool car, nothing much different than existing models, but cmon naming it a jato?!?!! No way.
It's a joke. Get the Syncro 4
Rlaarlo are looking like they are of fire now.
People this Traxxass buggy is Traxxases April fools joke to everyone! It’s really a “Walmart Newbright”!😂🤣😅🤣
This is what happens when you sponsor real race vehicles, it ain't cheap so you gotta save money somewhere.
Aw look it's the over priced under powered Bandit 4x4 😂
