I have both. For off road and stunts, Stampede all the way. For going fast around corners off road in somewhat flat terrain, Rustler. And for going fast on pavement and turning quickly, Rustler. Thanks for the comparison . The Rustler body does last a lot longer too. Both vehicles have been very durable for me, except those horrible ultra shocks . 30 years is a long RC career. Congrats Gregg.
Another place most people run is on pavement! That's where the Rustler really shines, the added traction on pavement will make it handle so much better than on loose dirt. Whereas the Stampede will traction roll at any hard turn.
For those questioning whether or not this is a paid advert, yes it is. I give him credit for being honest, he posted a disclaimer on the top left of the screen. This gentleman has a family and quality of life to maintain like the rest of us who earn, you can make your own decisions on Traxxas, I have. At least he picked two of their decent RC's, the Rustler Nitro was my first good RC. I just wish Traxxas would innovate more and price their larger RC's more realistically.
I have both and I also have a Granite 3s..for those complaining about the price the Rustler and Stampede is worth the hundred bucks more in my opinion. “Overpriced for what you get” Well let’s see…100 bucks more than the Granite and you get metal diffs, metal spur and pinion gears, metal pivot balls, Bluetooth telemetry, multiple suspension tuning options, and you can bind up to like 20-30 cars on one transmitter. Granite 100 bucks cheaper and. Plastic diffs, plastic spur gear, plastic pivot balls, driveshafts that break on 3s battery if you run at 100%, and a transmitter that is as cheap as Traxxas transmitter but you can’t run multiple cars on. So people can say what they want but you pay more and get more..proof is right in your face
The traxxas pot metal diffs will wear out faster then the arrma plastic diffs. Arrma does have metal pinion. New granite will have metal center diff now . Also you get a beefy metal gear servo vs traxxas plastic slow weak servo.
For the same price you could go big rock or outcast 4s. Or you could argue spend 100 more on arrma and upgrade to the far superior 6s 1/8 line. Which would make traxxas look like kids toys
@@jalee6587 My Arrma plastic diffs was stripped in a month and the servo was gone shortly after so that’s a false statement as far as plastic vs “pot metal diffs”(one of Traxxas haters favorite phrases) “New Granite” I guess we’ll see if that’s even a reality first then see how it holds up.Even horizon new updated 3s cars still have plastic diffs and now a 2 in 1 esc combo. As far as 6s and all that…this video is about 1/10 scale 3s trucks so let’s not move the goal post huh… and everyone isn’t looking for bang for buck alone..if so we would all just have a rlaarlo or mjx..Sometimes people want what they want. I bought a Rustler Ultimate for 530..Horizon guys will say “oh you could’ve gotten a 6s Kraton or 4s outcast for that money”. Well yeah more bang for my bucks for some shit I don’t actually want though. And from what I’ve seen here on RUclips and Reddit those things don’t seem to be that great either..I don’t own one but must be a reason why it seems everyone who gets them always talking about m2c chassis or whatever..A guy I bash with occasionally has outcast 4s and yeah I drove it broke the wheelie bar in 5 minutes..he replaced the servo and broke his chassis(at the skatepark so not the cars fault)but still I haven’t replace a chassis on any of my Traxxas trucks and don’t need a m2c either.
I have a soft spot for the Rustler, it was my first Nitro. Still have it after 20+ years. (it doesn't run, I'll get a new engine one day) Thanks as always Greg!
Do it! Get the engine! My 1997 nitro sport sat on my shelf for 15 years. I just took it down last weekend. Cleaned up the seized/gunked up engine, and got it running again! I drove it until dark Saturday night and ran about 6-8 tanks of fuel through it! Forgot how much I missed nitro after going strictly electric the last year or so.
@@OGRCFanatic thanks for the encouragement, sounds like you had a blast! There isn't anything like the sound and smell of running nitro, I do miss reverse though, LOL 😀
@@rmarkley79reverse is overrated 😂😂 Just kidding. I hear ya. My Jato 3.3 doesn’t have reverse either but my Revo 3.3 does. I just need to get motivated to get those two running again. And I completely agree 1000%, there’s nothing like the sound and smell of a nitro RC car. Really hoping you get your rustler running again soon.
Had my Rustler 4x4 VXL since 2019. Its been raced, bashed and abused. Only now are things starting to break from abuse but five years on. You absolutely can make the Rustler 4x4 do backflips. Just install a 13 tooth pinon to get more wheel speed. Im also running the traxxas heatsink and aluminum fans. On 3s my motor and esc dont even get hot anymore just warm.
Both awesome. The best one is the one that puts the biggest smile on your face. For me it’s a tie because I have both. 😂 I have the 4wd 3s Stampede VXL, and the 2wd rustler BL2s. Both make me smile equally for different reasons.
Both are excellent RC vehicles, all depends on where and how you are going to use them!! Stampede shines where ground clearance is an issue and the Rustler shines for flat surfaces!! And of course Traxxas is it for any choice!!!
RC2 Congrats on 30years 🎉. I could not decide. I have both. The handling characteristics is amazing on the Rustler for both dirt & grass. I did have to add fans on both the ESC and motor for heat on the grass. now it is full send and the Rustler is a ripper. The Stampede is also very nice for both dirt and grass. Biggest difference is the center Diff in the Stampede and the Rustler is slipper clutch. I would also the lower CG is nice as well. Both are great with very little issues. So after all that I will give the Rustler a slight edge. Nice job on the video. 🏎️🇺🇸🏎️🏁😎
I'm planning on getting the 2wd rustler and I want to use it on road and off road I'll get street tires for it and I'll leave it with the stock motor for now 😮😁👍
Love the rustler 4x4 vxl especially with some proline badlands tires but also a fan of the the stampede 2wd and 4wd versions but of course I had to go with the Arrma granite 4x4 3s blx but don't get me wrong tho cuz I have had stampedes in the past
Hope I won't regret watching this.... I'm 1min 1sec in. And wondering if this will just be a Traxxas advert with a conclusion that they are both great/equal whatever. Making this a complete click bait title!!! I'll post back once I get to the end.
The only good reason for traxxas being around is they are a good gateway drug. They get people into the hobby and then (hopefully) most people realize they are overpriced for what you get. Especially in the electronics. Nothing against RCDriver he’s got to make a living and he is very good at what he does!!
Old Stampede looks better more scale and had better body options now you are stuck with clipless none adjustable body ride height and ugly cartoon character body 🤣

Traxxas is still great
I have the Rustler VXL, with street tires, It's a Blast.

Thank you 4 the years of dedication Rcdriver 💯🚘 it is pretty wild thinking back to the Magazine Days til now - Video Magazine
I have both and both are awesome. I like the rustler a lil more tho
I like the HPI st it’s nice for the cost and fast
great video and much needed. looked for this exact vid when i got into the hobby 6 months ago.

Did you say they have slipper clutch ? Rustler does, stampede has center diff
RC Madness, huh? I thought that track looked familiar!

With so much experience what would be your favourite rc car? Or style of car. Nice video
Do a stampede, vs rustler, vs jato, vs slash bl-2s
Love the rustler 4x4 vxl especially with some proline badlands tires but also a fan of the the stampede 2wd and 4wd versions but of course I had to go with the Arrma granite 4x4 3s blx but don't get me wrong tho cuz I have had stampedes in the past
Do a comparison of both these and a slash, make a video stalking about all 3 (even the jato)
I basically made my stampede 4x4 kit into a rustler 4x4 inspired by Jang.
Congratulations.
👍🇨🇦🤠
Does anyone know if you can swap these bodies?
These or new arrma 223s ?
Dang it I got a lot of grass and some concrete at my house and I’m in a wheelchair idk which one to pick 😆
Save a little more money and get a maxx
@ maxx is massive tho.
Чудові дуже потужні автомобілі 👍👍🚀🚀🚀
Traxxas tough 💪
Stampede 4x4 is not the same now that its just a "hoss".

I humbly disagree… new generation body looks modern.
Traxxas is plastic trash
