    I've had this vehicles since it came out about 2 months ago. It's great out of the box. Like all new toys I've enjoyed many hours of hard play with it every week I've owned it. I've never understood random RUclipsr's complaints about Traxxas electronics. I'll run at least 2 battery packs a day 5 days (or more a week) and I've done this with other Traxxas models that have the same exact electronics. I have vehicles from all the top manufactures and they all seem to do equally well in the electronics department. I just recently upgraded the shocks to aluminum ones but the stock plastic ones were absolutely fine. I'm just having fun upgrading it with color matching aluminum shocks for my own entertainment. So for 2 months it's been my new all arounder and I throw it in the car so I can do RC anywhere. In fact, it's going on a road trip with me in a few days ... it's a compact basher that holds its own running laps around a makeshift cone track. I think someone new to RC would be happy with it as their only RC and I think someone who's been in the hobby for years (like me) will also love it. Tough truck for sure.

      @@inspectorbrody I have not had overheating issues with the Stampede as I just do bashes with it. But my Slash that’s nearly the same vehicle did as I run that all out on every pack. So I make sure to add both the ESC fan and the motor heat sinc. And even on the hottest days like 100 degrees I haven’t had issues after that. And do remember there’s a difference with the surface you run on …. Cement and packed dirt are low resistance, grass is medium and sand is the worst. This thing is awesome. I’ve had mine a few weeks now. I do agree traxxas prices are higher than most other companies. And put some cooling fans on your vehicle motors already traxxas! But, they make up for it by having extremely inexpensive repair parts, while other companies parts are much more expensive. And in all my years in the hobby, I’ve never walked into a hobby shop that didn’t have tons of traxxas parts. I recently hit a tree with the front tire of my XRT. Bent the front right driveshaft, shattered two suspension pins, and cracked the lower A Arm in 2 places. Totally my fault. The car didn’t hit the tree by itself! And when I went to my LHS it only cost $44 to buy ALL the parts I needed for the repair. The driveshaft, lower A arm, suspension pin set, and button head screws. People can hate on traxxas all they want, it’s their right. But all that means, is they’re missing out on a chance to have a lot of fun in this hobby.

The only electronic that broke, was 2 years ago, the servo. Which is known for dying bcs of a capacitor. Only broke 2 front A-arms so far.. After buying front rpm A-arms, it's a tank. While I don’t whole heartedly disagree with the idea that traxxas electronics suck, it’s not entirely fair to say you HAVE to replaced everything. With the Xmaxx/xrt these are my thoughts. Servo: replace if you can with a NON traxxas servo. If that’s too expensive, simply upgrade the gears inside the 2085 servo so metal. Traxxas is mental for not giving us metal gears in the first place, but the MG upgrade will keep the 2085 running for a while, hopefully long enough to budget in the full upgrade.
    Radio: personal preference. If you want to run HV servos then it is necessary. The range is definitely not the best, but it’s also not the worst rtr radio either. They absolutely should update it though.
    ESC: upgrade the fan to any 35mm aluminum fan and it will probably last you a very long time. Had one for over 3 years and it never stoped working. Left my possession for other reasons.
    Motor: it’s admittedly piss poor for a $1000 RC truck. Out of the box if you install a GPM metal front cap it should significantly extent the life, and it’s only $20. My first one even without any modifications lasted nearly 3 years. However my brand new xrt motor got warrantied after a month and also the replacement Xmaxx motor I paid for died within a year. I’d say they’ve gone down in quality vs the older generation ones. I’ve also heard that metal motor mounts might help the issue, but never tested that myself. You also want much better fans. Sadly fans seem to be a necessary upgrade regardless of brand. Arrmas fans can be okay I guess but they’re not much better than traxxas fans.
    As for the other cars, I think this largely remains the same. Their smaller motors are all better than the Xmaxx motor. Servos are crap, and you can get better servos for less than $50 so no point in bothering with metal gear upgrades there. If I ran traxxas I wouldn’t allow a plastic gear in anything aside from maybe the TRX4m

    • @beyondRC

    • @craiglamb9029
      @craiglamb9029 4 месяца назад +1

      I agree. The steel gear upgrade comes with stiffer servo saver which improves the steering accuracy and speed to a decent and tolerable level on 6v. On 7.5v that servo is actually good. i have a castle mm8s esc and 1721/1260kv motor system in my xrt now. Buying a faster or stronger servo is not even a thought anymore. The stock vxl8s and motor were decent but only at or near stock gearing. Im Still running stock radio tho.

    • @dylanwhite6539
      @dylanwhite6539 4 месяца назад +1

      @@beyondRC I assure you it’s got more to do with the servo saver and gears inside the servo rather than the servo itself. It is still sub par I would say, but you can make it adequate for $40 rather than spend $120+ on an upgraded servo.

      Arrma also have excellent warranty service, one email and you get your parts in a week. 2 year warranty, no questions asked.
      Arrma Granite was my first RC and warranty helped me immensely.
      Traxxas have bad PR for a reason.
      Advertising it as a 3s vehicle and then saying "3s only for speed runs"
      That kinda BS is why people don't trust Traxxas. Whether your RC was malfunctioning or not (as the other comment says) Traxxas warranty reps gaslighted the issue and made it "your fault"
      That's great customer service, right ?
      I guess that's how they got to where they are today: pinching every possible penny until blood comes out. And using Arrma for a patent violation that was such a generic patent that it should not have been granted in the first place.
      Can you imagine if Ford had been granted a patent for a waterproof ignition control module and was allowed to sue every other auto manufacturer who tried to make a waterproof ICM ?
      Here's Traxxas's motto: "Traxxas, killing innovation and freedom of choice, one lawsuit at a time"
      F*** Traxxas. They're trying to ruin the hobby for everyone who doesn't buy their crap.
      Competition is how innovation is strived for and competition is what prevents price gouging and monopolies.
      Traxxas doesn't want people to have better RCs, Traxxas wants people to have Traxxas RCs and no other choices\options.

      @@Freakeye_RCpart of the problem was Traxxas's statement. Or if that's the *truth* then maybe they should be up front about that, because I expect to be able to drive how I like. I buy a 6s truck, I'm gonna bash on 6s.

      Traxxas rep probably didn’t know what he was talking about obviously but I’ve only used the warranty once a couple years ago with my trx4 and it wasn’t an issue.I have an Arrma Granite 3S and I guarantee you,You are not running that on 3S at 100 percent without the axle breaking from the drive cup or the wheel coming off with the axle attached to it😂at least then it’s not broken but still won’t make it through a full 3s battery.It does pull off some triple backflips though while the Stampede only do doubles.In my personal opinion put the politics aside and Stampede is worth the extra 100 over the Granite because it drives better minus backflips and is reliable..I hope you get your car sorted though so you can see how fun it is

    Mate, either you’re mental or we have extremely different definitions of fun. I have a vxl stampede 2wd and briefly owned a hoss before converting it to a rustler 4x4 chassis (direct fit, you can even keep the same body) and I find this far more fun than the 2wd. The 2wd vxl is a one trick pony. It wheelies very well, but is more or less shit at literally everything else. It’s a decent first RC especially if you’re looking for something very easy to wheelie, but for serious off road speeds you need something lcg for stability. Now there are some things that can be done very cheaply to improve this truck as it is. 1) diff fluid. Factory is comes with 500k fluid. Consider replacing that with 1M fluid. It’ll make the truck a fair bit more wheelie happy. While you’re at it you might want to go ahead and install 6781 as a precaution. Plastic case can get a bit melty. 2) consider gearing up. Since it’s the limited to 3s it can be a bit lazy on 2s. I have a maxx heat sink and good aluminum fan on mine running 4s and I’ve only dropped to a 13t pinion. Back when I had the same motor in a big rock 3s I ran it with a 16-17t pinion on 3s. 15t on the hoss because I wanted to be close to stock and was mixing 3s and 4s use. Now that I’m fully 4s I’m on a 13t, and I think stock for the stampede on 3s is 14t. Very long winded way of saying the motor has more in it than it may seem.

    They decided to utilize some of the hoss things to make it better like the clip less body’s

    However the x maxx is a absolutely beast
    To make it tough you only need a few things
    One is captured pins or lundsfords
    Outdrive savers (they’re a small round aluminum part that keeps the outdrive from spreading ) 10 th scale servo (I bought a 90 power hobby and 6 buck adapter traxxas sells ) lastly a max 6 is plenty enough power
    If you do that from new it will be nearly one of the best trucks
    So 1300-1500 on a large scale rc
    Base that with any other 5 th scale and you ire on point price wise and you still have crappy spectrum electronics
    Anyone who’s been into this hobby knows all rtr electronics are trash
    The options are buy kits and supply your own electronics
    Or buy used and try that way

    The problem I have with traxxas isn’t the price tags (which are to high) it’s their bully legal action past record that just doesn’t set right with me. I know a guy that got his website shut down because of incorrect wording…. What a bunch of twats!! The only thing I can give them as a positive is parts availability. Anyway you always do a good job on these videos!! 👍

    i think this is the best location, and is where i would choose to be, as it was designed for ripping around on dirt, not on concrete or a track. i say the brand only matters when it negatively affects the durability, or is outdated and cheap looking, like Tamiya. that is a hot take but 80% of tamiya models are incredibly expensive for cheap and crappy brushed motors and phiilipshead screws, all plastic gears, and its still 400$. Tamiya is taking the piss

    I have had no trouble with taxes. I have been with them over 20 years. i never have to change anything. things work great. I have had a couple day one things. and i still have them. I had day one 8 s x-Maxx have had day one atom. plus i have had several e-maxx trucks. they have always been awesome. people will complain about anything if it does not blow a house a way. does not have the speed of an f1 car. or the traction of a tank. they either blow stuff up with to many cells, ram it in to a building fly it over a 2 story home, drop it 120 feet from the air see if the shocks hold up. or smash in to rocks to see if it will break. as well as other things if i did all that to my r/cs i have huge junk pile of stuff that i would be trying to fix. and bitch because it did not last. you want the real truth. if people actually drove the r/cs for the way they were intended then people would have fun. I only up grade the parts that break more then 3 times. then i wait to see if anything breaks next. unlike most of you d/as who think they should be indestructible. nothing if fool proof or idiot proof or d/a proof. so drive it the WAY IT WAS MADE FOR.. I still have my 8 s X-maxx i still have my trx4 4x4 camo body and truck. runs great no issues.. even did the lift kit. i have a trx6 6x6 that i got my late wife. she drove it every where. no issues. every thing i have r/c has had no issues. so i do not under stand why so many d/as out there say smack about stuff they ruin. so man up people. most of us know you break it just to whine .

    don't really get this truck and where it sits in the market. The Quantum 2flux is 200 cheaper! Also if you want better quality and durability the Corally Sketer you can buy for under 350 which runs on 3 and 4s. I get Traxxas is a premium brand but it can't work in isolation, it still has to compete. As I said at 450 quid it just doesn't stack up for me. I love our Sketer and I can't see any reason why I would gravitate towards this.

    • @beyondRC
      @beyondRC  4 месяца назад

      fully agree with you. Its one of the most expensive 1/10 out there and doesn't offer as much as something like a sketer with its 1/8 components. What you are paying for with this is the name IMO. The biggest advantage traxxas has over competitors is spares availability.

      You know too much metal and metal upgrade parts are actually worse? Metal bends, is more expensive and in a crash the energy is sent to the next weakest part. Plastic is cheaper and is flexible 😉

    "60 *Traxxas* miles per hour" is not "60 miles per hour"
    2:26 "how cool does this truck look?"
    No offence, but Traxxas paint schemes are way too toy like for me. Just give us some solid colors and maybe some stripes.
    Instead it looks like a rainbow unicorn vomited a bad tribal tattoo on the body shell.
    Traxxas need to hire better body designers. The paint schemes are just obnoxious to me.

I looked at the stampede extreme and it no different from my older ones… the price is way to high too
