Born and raise in Albuquerque, NM. I am 37 years old and I have move away once just to come back a year later. I love the outdoor life NM provides, from the high mountain tops all the way down to the desert. Fall is my favorite time of year as it is the time of year for chile roasting, balloon fiestas, statefair, and other things as the weather cools down. I have noticed that crime has climbed up a lot in recent years, but comparing it to other places I can't say we are worse or not.
I lived 2 yers in Albuquerque 3 in Santa Fe now in Chile, I miss so much New Mexico, I have only good thing to say, when this pandemic is over ill be on my way over there. oh I forgot, people stay out of NM, hope no many knows about it, Im afraid people started to find out, Santa fe is growing too fast. When I told people I was moving to NM they asked me if got my passport, hope people keep thinking that.
Any place you decide to settle down has it's negatives. Some more, some less. I spent 7 years in Albuquerque from 1961 to 1968. 3rd grade to 10th grade, while my Dad worked at Sandia Base. It was a wonderful time in my life. My Dad got a new job in Chicago and we moved there in 1968 and talk about a culture shock. After I graduated HS I joined the Navy and left home. Somehow to make a long story short I ended up in North Florida in 1977. Been here ever since. But there isn't a day that goes by that I don't long to return to New Mexico. The vistas are amazing in NM, the air is fresh and dry and there is actually a change of season. You can only look at the Ocean and Gulf so much, those views are the only ones you can see more than 100 yards. Nothing but pine trees in Florida blocking all the views. Someday maybe I'll return to Albuquerque.
I live in NM and I love it here. I don't know where all the hate is coming from but ya'll are wrong. lol. You can find good and bad everywhere you go. It just depends on if you are a cup half full or half empty kind of person. Housing here is incredible, and cost of living is lower than many other places. And there is so much to see here. I live in Rio Rancho in the new homes by D.R. Horton, they are stunning. I Love my NM.
Scew the people that do not like ABQ New Mexico. The history here is awsome and i was born and raised in ABQ and i have no issue What so ever.ABQ FOR THE WIN!!!!!
I moved from LA to ABQ (Rio Rancho to be exact) and lived there for about 5 years until I had to come back to Los Angeles. NM has a very special place in my hearth. I've tried ever since to move back, but I've not been able to find a local job (I work in the Tech Industry). One day....one day...
Dude, people die quite often in Albuquerque. I live here. lol. I was watching this shit and I was like WTF? For real though... illegal aliens cause a lot of crime. Lots of murder. Lots of robbery. Horrible education system. Worst place to raise your kids. Looks up all these stats. We're very close to #1 in all these spots. Though Albuquerque can be chill, not everyone can live here. Its a different culture for sure and people are pretty poor over here, so they become desperate and intense. If we had Republican leadership, I think Albuquerque would be a lot better place to live. Democrats over here fight for criminals. There was some dude that was murdered recently, and the guy that murdered him LITERALLY only got 1 month in jail. Its insane. I just bought a house, and in like 10 years I'm more than likely going to move somewhere else. The extra money is worth leaving such a poverty stricken area of the country.
Spot on! Albuquerque needs to get their shit together, doubt it though, the governor here is trash and we keep voting for democrats hoping for them to change their ways.
Everyone in the comments is saying how awful New Mexico is.. how drug infested it is.. etc... I've lived in the north east heights in Albuquerque my entire life and I absolutely love it! I've experienced very little crime. Sure, there's places with much more of it and there are bad neighborhoods, but the same goes for every state in the US. The sunsets are beautiful, weather is amazing, and the people/things to do never dissapoint.
@Matthew Thomas Your friend should have called anotha friend and anotha friend and anotha friend and then go down there to ask them to turn it down, with bats and metal pipes of course. Safety First.
never been to New Mexico, one day I will and may live there. I lived all of my life between L.A and San Diego. Drugs are everywhere!!!! period that's reality and no city small or big is immune to crime and murder. you guys got less people to deal with, we got way too many.
Born and raised in albuquerque nm and i been to L.A. to Huston Denver and all over Texas big cities Las Vegas and i could say albuquerque is awesome to live in i love it but everyone has to try to live some where else cuz you just never know how you would feel living somewhere else and it's how you live. May God bless us all in the name of Jesus Christ.
Juan Garcia man New Mexico is trash man I’m from las cruces left at 15 graduated at that age and got a loan moved out man never looked back since I’m 22 years old man really all my family is on drugs and in gangs man New Mexico is the land of entrapment man sad how people are delusional to live they’re man it’s all talk and it’s for retirement people by for young people it’s not for them man it’s a bad place to raise a family 😂😂🤦♂️💀💀 I live in Utah man.
I know las cruces is not a good town but Albuquerque is awesome and new mexico is beautiful state so i don't what your talking about maybe just your family made it hard for you we live nice me and my family and have good job's so i don't know what your saying trash you probably talking about las cruces and i agree with you on that so let's talk about Utah Mormons not for me and there's drug's everywhere it's how you live and raised your family I've lived in some big cities and i seen some stuff out there and let me tell Albuquerque is nice until you live in different cities and experience life then you could im almost 50 years old don't look it but i am take care and God bless you and your family in the name of Jesus Christ
Juan Garcia my family didn’t make it bad my people made it bad man this is facts it’s trash man the only thing going good for New Mexico is retirement it’s growing now fuck after years of seeing the same shit.
Juan Garcia Mormons are good people just beliefs are confused with some people man come you’ll love it man but just Mormons but Latino and other multi racial people here man come man.
Juan Garcia we’ll you don’t have to be Mormon to live here and they’re less drugs here man because the people here take drugs seriously and family and we have a higher education and better living in the United States man you can check that out and the economy the bad thing I could say about Utah is people from other states are coming to fuck up the state man by gangs and drugs and much more man.
I have been thinking of moving to NM, AZ, or Las Vegas! I work for an airline and I teach tennis so it all depends on whether or not I can get a job. I’ll definitely be visiting Albuquerque and Santa Fe soon.
Are you and all these professionals still here? Would like to know what the current industry scene looks like. My daughter is an amazing artist. Her goal is animation and it would be cool to find out she could intern here in town.
if you like living somewhere where there is no rain windy and extreme dry then alb is for you a economy that has left the people with few jobs after the building boom quit if you like rain grass moisture in the air with seasonal rains then i would suggest another place to live seriously
DEM BOYZ 77 it’s trash man 😂😂💀🤦♂️ it’s my home and I left it at the age of 15 and graduated at that age no future man i never looked back in 22 years old man.
After seeing this, it looks like all the people that live there are young people that work in the animation production industry. I found out nothing about the economy, the demographics, the real cost of living. People just talked about the ephemeral "quality of life" and the great outdoors. Sorry, as a sales pitch, this one comes up short!
so sad to say how true this is, it really has gone to shit and filled with mexicans, take that how you want it, also doesnt help the fact that everyone with decent way of life that grew up here is either long gone or on drugs...@Matthew Thomas
lol you don't know anything New Mexico became a territory in 1853 and a state in 1912, hardly "centuries" ago, you are trying to make it seem like Mexicans came after the fact but it was anglos @Matthew Thomas
I wish young people here would wake the hell up and get the jobs these transplants are taking. Their educational apathy is contributing to local displacement. It's our own community's fault that we are remaining poor and uneducated.
great vid,,, all said is the 100% true dat..... i think a tad bit of editing is needed,,,, woukd increase this vids popularity greatly... how many times do we need to hear about food,, or a shit ton of g rated stories and statements,,, im talking channel 7 pbs’s grandparents... bob ross 24/7 but ,good vid .. with good real people! thx for it!
Sandia Crest/Peak is not alpine. Alpine literally means "no" pine because the air is too thin for vegatation to grow. The Sangre De Cristo mountains north of Santa Fe have alpine. Just me being an asshole, no offense tho. ANOTHER OUTDOOR CULTURE that's not mentioned is the offroad community. Plenty of beautiful vast areas to ride your dirt bike or jeep. Been here 11 years and absolutely love it!
This video mostly just makes me think Californians are stuck up lmao. I'm from New York and moving to New Mexico is my fuckin dream. I grew up in a "ghetto" area so maybe that's why I'm not scared off by people saying it's a shitty place, but o well.
No...Albuquerque has good n bad. It is very beautiful..but, the crime takes from the beauty. But honestly, the crime rate is terribly high. Tons of theft...this is one of their biggest problems. Sorry...but this is the reason I left. No I did not live in a bad area. I lived in an upscale neighborhood in the the foothills. This is where they come to rob...nobody is safe. I wish my family would leave. It's not the place...it's the people. Not friendly or welcoming...come on people, let's be honest here.
North East heights were they found a man with his head cut off at the smiths lmfao worst state. and I said state, in the country. Even the schools here in New Mexico are the worst in the country.
Boston, corruption is everywhere here. But this is a land still suffering greatly from colonialism. Only 100 years ago this was Mexico. I know families that owned thousands of acres of land 100 years ago, taken to create National Forests and BLM lands, and these people are now groveling in the barrios of Albuquerque. So crime is everywhere, because they are generationally pissed and will blatantly steal millions from the schools or city or government. Because there is no accountability or justice by government agencies, it keeps happening over and over again. Those who become someone in NM (eg. rich artists and authors in SF) don’t mingle with the schools, hospitals, locals, nothing. They live closed lives, because it’s the only way to avoid the drama and corruption. And then NM is truly beautiful...the best place in the nation.
yeah "BUT if 'everyone 'who 'sees this 'Wants to move 'too albuq... "THEN "its 'gonna 'Look like 'Los 'Angeles and 'have'crowds 'and Smog...NOt good to make a 'Video that 'Makes 'people want to move 'to New MExico... its different, but come on we need more open spaces that we leave ...alone.
I love New Mexico. I've lived in Alamogordo, Grants, Albuquerque and would move back in a heart beat. I will be back eventually!
Born and raise in Albuquerque, NM. I am 37 years old and I have move away once just to come back a year later. Awesome video, I’m looking forward to moving to New Mexico. 🤙🏽☘️
Moving there for a project and so happy I found this video...even though its 5 years old...Now I'm excited
The fall and winter is so beautiful here. Albuquerque is great.
@demianr8328 I did go back after the pandemic
It has been 2 years now
I'll be back next year
I want to spend the 4th of July there🎉🎉🎉

I lived there 5 years and I loved it! But the cost of living was insane, the crime rate began to rise, so I had to bounce.
I moved from LA to ABQ (Rio Rancho to be exact) and lived there for about 5 years until I had to come back to Los Angeles.
NM has a very special place in my hearth. I've tried ever since to move back, but I've not been able to find a local job (I work in the Tech Industry).

I don't know anyone in Albuquerque but it's on my bucket list, dream to visit and stay. it's a pull not a push to be there. that place pulls me.
FINALLY someone made a video of how great it is here. Scared to share we don't want anymore people lol

"San Francisco on the Rio Grande" Is this dude serious?!? 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 he obviously never been there
Thanks heaps for this. 😇
High crime for a small city pretty much sums it up. Alot of californians are moving in though.
I would really like to move here.
Are you and all these professionals still here? Would like to know what the current industry scene looks like. My daughter is an amazing artist. Her goal is animation and it would be cool to find out she could intern here in town.
lol whats up with the guy getting interviewed standing in the rain at 4:14?
Prob trying to show we DO have all seasons
Did I just see a guy drop his pants in the crapper at 12:47, while the narrator is saying, "Cruising culture..." and if so WTF?
The place is beautiful, if you don't need your car or anything, three cars stolen before we just gave up and left.
Ahhhhhh, the 505, the MECCA of bad traffic control! The land where drivers do everything slow!
I think this might be a commercial for the Sony Pictures to promote relocation of CG animators from LA, instead of hiring the local talent.
Sony wasn't involved with making the video, so it's not actually a commercial. It's just a little film that some of the employees felt like making.
It's simple, just don't be a fool and you'll be just fine in ABQ. ❤
if you like living somewhere where there is no rain windy and extreme dry then alb is for you a economy that has left the people with few jobs after the building boom quit if you like rain grass moisture in the air with seasonal rains then i would suggest another place to live seriously

Cold? Lmao
I've been thinking of moving to ABQ, but I keep on hearing how terrible it is. Far far from what they are saying here.
Green chile smells like marijuana can we tell what's in the industry ;) shout out from 505
Albuquerque is basically a third world country in our own back yard...
If I moved to Albuquerque it would be simply to get meth
I don't disagree with the content of this. I love New Mexico. But why is nearly everyone interviewed in the video a man?
must be sexism (eyeroll)
Not necessarily. It just made me wonder who the intended audience for the video was.
go back 2 cal
North East heights were they found a man with his head cut off at the smiths lmfao worst state. and I said state, in the country. Even the schools here in New Mexico are the worst in the country.
FL and AZ have NM beat by miles in crime, violence, serial killers, babies and children horribly abused and murdered painfully.
New mexico is the worst state in the nation, lived there, hated it
