On the surface, what he says sounds good, but what I noticed is he doesn't practice what he preaches. I just posted the following reply. It will be interesting to see what he has to say to it, if he replies at all. I wrote:
"I was wondering why you mention that you should consider all scriptures concerning a matter before deciding what it means, but when showing how Jehovah's Witnesses don't do that, you cherry pick the easiest scriptures to refute and don't even mention the biggest reason why we believe what we do?
For example you point out Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus was raised as a spirit, and then cite Luke 24, where it mentions that some men at first didn't recognized Jesus after he was raised until their eyes were opened. In reality, the biggest reason, by far, that we believe Jesus was raised as a spirit was because of what Peter said when he wrote in 1Peter 3:18. He wrote:
"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit."
Someone suggested to me that the reason you did not practice what you preached was because you were limited on time. Is that why you didn't do what you said in your introduction? If so, you should address all the scriptures on the matter, even if that means you have fewer examples to show people. You do know how it looks when you don't practice what you preach don't you, and especially when it is the easiest passage to refute?"

When groups set themselves up as the authority to interpret scripture, they accomplish two things:
    1. They steal the authority of scripture. Scripture cannot be the final word on anything if someone else has to tell you what it means. That makes THEM the authority.
    2. It sets the false authorities up in a tower. You can't use scripture to evaluate, critique or refute what they say, because they are the ones that tell you what the scripture means. They'll never be wrong as long as you're convinced their voice, and not scripture, is the final authority.
JWs do this with the GB, in the same way that SDAs did it with Ellen White. They still consider her writings "a continuing and authoritative source of truth."

I just read ecclesiastes from beginning to end to put it all into context , especially 9:5 . A few verses earlier than that says animals die and go to the earth and a humans spirit goes upward. So from what I got from context , 9:5 was talking about our physical earthly bodies

Ecclesiastes 3:19 for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals; they all have the SAME OUTCOME. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but ONE SPIRIT. So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile. 20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust.
Both animals and humans have the same spirit. The electricity which powers trains and toy cars is the same. Humans do not have any superiority over animals at death. They both CEASE TO EXIST.

    • @LightoverDarkMinistry

I would say Jesus neither confirms nor condemns the actions directly, and more of a commentary on what was happening and the sad shape of matters. We do know she put in all she had to live on, and no where does the Bible encourage someone to give to the point of desperation. If true religion is helping widows in their suffering, why was her cent all she had, why weren’t the people helping? The lesson directly is, it was a struggle for her, not for the others, so the amount they gave means nothing. However, wether this is how everyone should act, is not stated, and when people like the JW GB force a meaning, it’s disturbing. Amazing, everyone uses this scripture, it always ends with “God wants you to give us more money, even to the point you don’t have anything left.”

A story from the book of 1 Kings, where a prophet by the name of Elijah when he beheld 400 false prophets of the false object of worship called Baal said to them if you think you're God to be the answer then assemble yourselves and call me fire down from heaven; Elijah said to them likewise shall I do the same as the story goes the 400 false prophets of the false being made themselves a bunch of ruckus calling out to the lie they believed.
Elijah surely used scripture from the word of God the Old Testament or Old Covenant or Agreement and fire did fall from heaven.
The more you get right about God the more he shows up.
God is a spirit those that worship him must do so in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
Don't just have faith, have faith in God, and his word. There is surely a type of extreme unpleasantness already in the Earth, have you seen it, are you delivered from it?
Job 38:17 "Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?"
Job 38:33 "33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?"
As a child, I would have dreams in be in many nightmares where underground tentacle monsters could sense my slightest movement and impel me,
wars, dreams of persecution, the grim Reaper, things would get wild. I remember calling on the Old Testament name of God Jehovah, and I remember things
did not end well for me when I was being assaulted by a witch. However, ever since I was a child the name of Jesus has never failed me, when I began to call on his name
Even recently, a spider demon with a human face around the size a 42" TV was crawling on my wall when I awoke from my sleep.
I spoke the name of Jesus quite a few times and I attained Mercy unto myself, for that because Jesus has the authority for this reason.
John 3:35 " He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
1 John 2:23 "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."
I believe that God cares for his creation and doesn't want to lose them, because I believed in Jesus and had the humility to honor his name many times throughout my life.
I attained mercy through the New Covenant, agreement, or Testament. Only parts of the old still apply. The old prepared place for the New.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 1:14 "And the Word:λόγος(in ancient Greek) message, expression of God's ideas), was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
For if I read James 1:5 (KJV), do not leave out James 1:6,7, and 8 (KJV),
and while we at it live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
If there are 18000+ religions in the world I know to whom I say go to save me trouble, the name and the ideas that I will confess as Lord to be serving of and to call my friend.
Proverbs 4:19 “The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.”
A concept of the word is the idea that is behind it or what should pop into your head by what the author is meaning. If you do not have the idea of the word correct you have a misconception and it changes the whole story.
Read the KJV, pray for wisdom, pray without ceasing: don't go a day without it.

Wether or not the book is speaking of the future, or the early church, or whatever, you arnt required to understand it. Nothing in revelation has anything to do with salvation or knowing Christ. (John 8:31, 32) Then Jesus went on to say to the Jews who had believed him: “If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, 32 and YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, and the truth will set you free.”
Until Jesus, using God's holy spirit, updates his disciples on what they need to know, the disciples could entertain personal ideas (Compare Acts 1:6). These however, is not to be confused with the basics truths of who God is and who the Messiah is. And of course, what God's Kingdom is.

Your religion shouldn't go beyond your front door. You beliefs should be your own. You should not worship with people who are not in your spiritual space. Church/Kingdom Halls/etc should not exist. They are basically schools of false teachings. Study with your family at home. Don't let anyone interpret your faith or beliefs. Reading and comprehension is better than listening and obeying.
Think about this. None of us are arguing facts. When I say "none of us", I mean individuals who study the Bible. We àre all taught by whatever religious group we grew up around. I call it he say she say. It's kinda weird how we all believe in God, but we have different religious beliefs. It's called interpretation and that's what the churches are good at even though The information can be inaccurate.

Jesus called the Father the only true God and said that true worshipers worship the Father (whom Jesus himself worships. John 17:3; 4:21-24; 20:17; 1.Cor 8:6) There is not a single text in the Bible that would show that God in the Bible is not the Father, but there are three persons in one God. Not a single text! David, you have some problems with your hermeneutics (as all JWs do).
      First of all,
the issue is NOT that JW’s believe the 144000 are literal, the issue is that they are inconsistent in their hermeneutics. If the 144000 is a literal number then they must also be Jews who are male virgins. If you want to symbolize the other aspects (12 tribes, male virgins, etc.) then the number 144000 too must be symbolic. Claiming that everything in the context is symbolic _EXCEPT_ the number 144000 is inconsistent-that’s the problem.
      Second,
Revelation is apocalyptic literature, which means you have to read it according to its genre, and _NOT_ like narrative-they are different genres. Numbers are highly symbolic in apocalyptic literature. I know you don’t understand Biblical genres so I encourage you to get a book on Biblical Hermeneutics (eg. _Introduction to Biblical Hermeneutics The Search for Meaning_ by Walter C. Kaiser and Moisés Silva).

"For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus."

"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."

I was wondering why you mention that you should consider all scriptures concerning a matter before deciding what it means, but when showing how Jehovah's Witnesses don't do that, you cherry pick the easiest scriptures to refute and don't even mention the biggest reason why we believe what we do?
You do know how it looks when you don't practice what you preach don't you, and especially when it is the easiest passage to refute?

Like I said earlier, the biggest reason we believe Jesus was raised as a spirit is because that was what Peter said, not because of a couple men who didn't recognize him. If the audience you are trying to persuade is Jehovah's Witnesses, it would be more effective to comment on the passages we primarily use. And if non believers are your intended audience, it would still be good to target the passages that we use the most.
Anyway I have no doubt Jesus raised his own fleshly body. He said he would raise his Temple. There is no passage that says God raised his fleshly body, and there is no passage that says Jesus raised his own spirit. Jesus was resurrected by God back into his angel spirit form (1 Peter 3:8). As other angels have done, Jesus had to take on various human forms to be seen.
(Luke 24:15, 16) Now as they were conversing and discussing these things, Jesus himself approached and began walking with them, 16 but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
This is an expression that means they didn't recognize Jesus. Not that God had intervened to stop them recognizing Jesus. How would that make sense when Jesus showed himself to many after he was resurrected.
1 Samuel 1:5 King James Version
5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the Lord had shut up her womb.
This is a similar expression. God didn't stop Hannah from having children. It just means that she was barren. Incapable of having children.
After Jesus did something the disciples were familiar with, recognition clicked that here was actually Jesus albeit in another form.
(Luke 24:31) At that their eyes were fully opened and they recognized him; but he disappeared from them.
This doesn't mean that their eyes were shut or partly closed all the while. It means that recognition dawned on them.

Then take them to Hebrews 1:10, “...At the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands." (NWT). This verse is of course God The Father speaking about Jesus. @@tongakhan230 If Jesus was claiming to be older, then the Jews would have laughed at him.
"Pay attention. This is how proper exegesis is done:
In John 8 Jesus said to the Jewish leaders, “Unless you believe that I AM (εγω ειμι) you will die in your sins” (v. 24 ESV). They missed it the first time, they didn't get what he was saying when he said, "I AM.” The Jewish leaders were standing there thinking, “I am what?! Who are you?” This discourse goes back and forth for a while. Finally, when Jesus said that Abraham rejoiced to see Jesus day, the Jews incredulously replied, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” (v. 57 ESV) Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was (γενεσθαι), I AM (εγω ειμι)” (v. 58 ESV). Jesus was not simply saying that he existed before Abraham. He didn't say “I was” (εγω ημην) but “I am” (εγω ειμι)-grammatically incorrect, theologically spot on! He was claiming to be Jehovah-the I AM of Deu 32:39, Isa 41:04, 43:10, 43:13, 48:12, etc.. The Jews got it this time, they understood what he was saying, which is why they picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy (which was the “penalty for blasphemy (Lev 24:16)-blasphemy here is regarded as laying claim to the divine ineffable name.”[1]
If people want to argue that Jesus was simply claiming to preexist Abraham then they have to explain the reaction of the Jews. If he was simply claiming to be older than Abraham they would have laughed at Him and thought He was crazy (Jews didn’t kill people for being crazy) but they understood He was claiming to be Jehovah.
Why did they instantly know he was claiming to be Jehovah and picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy? Because they knew their Bible! In Deu 32:39 (LXX)[2] it says, “ιδετε ιδετε οτι εγω ειμι, και ουχ εστιν θεος πλην εμου” (“Look! Behold, that I AM, and there is no God except me”) and Isa 43:10 it says, “‘You are my witnesses,’ declares Jehovah, ‘and my servant whom I have chosen ινα γνωτε και πιστευσητε και συνητε οτι εγω ειμι’” (“that you might know and might believe and might understand that I AM”). The Jews understood what Jesus was saying while JW’s refuse to acknowledge the crystal clear point John is making-Jesus is Jehovah, co-equal in nature to Jehovah the Father.
Furthermore, a similar Greek construction to John 8:58 is found in Ps 89:2 LXX (90:2 MT) which says,“before the mountains were… you are.” In Greek it says, “προ τοῦ ὄρη γενηθῆναι (‘came to be’)… συ εἶ (‘you are;’ the second-person equivalent of εγω ειμι).” “The Greek sentence here reflects the same grammatical structure as John 8:58 and uses the same verbs to make the same contrast between that which is created and temporal and the one who is uncreated and eternal.”[3] Murray Harris also says,“the timeless εἰμί points to the absolute, independent, and eternal existence of Jesus; it places Jesus ‘in God’s existence beyond time, in his eternal present’.”[4]
The translators of the NWT understand the implications of Jesus claiming to be the “I AM,” so they errantly translated εγω ειμι in John 8:58 as a historical present, “I have been.”[5] The NWT (1950 ed.) has a footnote that says, “It is not the same as ὁ ὤν (ho ohn’, meaning ‘The Begining’ or ‘The I Am’) at Exodus 3:14, LXX.” Daniel Wallace points out that “this is a negative admission that if ἐγὼ εἱμί is not a historical present, then Jesus is here claiming to be the one who spoke to Moses at the burning bush, the I AM, the eternally existing One, Yahweh (cf. Exod 3:14 in the LXX, ἐγὼ εἱμι ὁ ὤν).”[6] Wallace demonstrates that there are several problems grammatically with seeing εγω ειμι as a historical present:
      1) Historical presents are usually wedged in between aorist (or imperfect) indicatives, not infinitives.
      2) This would be the only historical present in the NT that uses εἰμί.
      3) This would be the only historical present in the NT that is not in third person.
For these reasons, Wallace says “The burden of proof, therefore, lies with the one who sees εἰμί as ever being used as a historical present.”[7]
JW’s will also object saying that εγω ειμι is used by people who were not claiming deity (cf. Joh 4:26, 9:9, etc.). This is correct, εγω ειμι “does not necessarily imply deity when it contextually implies, ‘I am (the one in question)’... [but] when ‘I am’ lacks even an implied predicate, however, it becomes unintelligible except as an allusion to God’s name in the Hebrew Bible or LXX….The absolute use of the expression in 8:58, contrasted explicitly with Abraham’s finite longevity, clearly refers to a Jewish name for God.”[8]
Contextually, grammatically, and intertextually, there is no question that Jesus was claiming to be the “I AM” of Deu 32:39, Isa 43:10… and Exo 3:14. In other words, Jesus claimed to be Jehovah.
[1] Murray J. Harris, Exegetical Guide to the Greek New Testament: John (Nashville, TN: B&H Publishing, 2015), ePub, 8:59.
[2] The reason for appealing to Deu 32:39 and Isa 43:10 is because JW’s will argue that since the Greek in Exo 3:14 is not exactly the same as John 8:58 (Exo 3:14 says εγω ειμι ο ων) that Jesus wasn’t laying claim to Exo 3:14. See the article “Exo 3:14 - I AM that I AM,” which demonstrates that the divine name (Yahweh/Jehovah) is derived from a verb of present tense form, “I am.” That article also addresses the JW objection that “I AM” is not a name.
[3] Robert M. Bowman Jr. and J. Ed Komoszewski, Putting Jesus in His Place (Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel, 2007), ePub, Jesus has always been there.
      [4] Harris, John, 8:58.
[5] To my knowledge, this is the only place in the NT where the NWT translates εγω ειμι as a historical present, providing evidence that this choice was theologically motivated in order to obscure the fact that Jesus here claims to be the “I AM” of Exo 3:1.

I have been involved in public ministry for over 30 years and I can tell you from experience that there are many people who just depend on what their pastor or priest says. For example, I met a lady in my ministry and she asked me a question, telling me I was wrong about what I believed, and I asked her to look up a verse from the book or Ephesians, and I was astonished that she could not even find where it was in the Bible, she was looking in the old testament for the book of Ephesians ! So if she is that unfamiliar with her Bible, she must being just listening to what her pastor tells her !

No cult can tell you what daniel or revelation, the old bibles use 616 not 666 but they are clueless. Religion is such a waste of time except for the people at the top. M, M, L, and John were written in that order in 25 year increments and with each iteration the stories became more fantastic. Shocker the cornerstone of most cults is the Book of John. They had 100 years to to get the con right. The Trinity is an example that not only JW's have exposed but they still cling to it why? Because that's what they were brainwashed with. Voltaire said "more people are fooled by hope than by deceit" and the religions cos artist figured that out centuries ago. The immortal soul is another con game. Sure it's pretty easy to expose JW's, the Governing Body is a clown show but you can expose any one of these cults just as easy.

Come on, I knocked door-to-door (you know just like Jesus told his disciples to do) and I would just read a scripture and ask what they think it means and you get crazy nutty answers. I was shocked at how little people actually know about the Bible, all I heard is "what my pastor says". They just go to church and listen to the basic Jesus scripts brainwashed from birth. All they have to do is accept it and viola - I'm going to walk on streets of gold. Have you ever really thought about what you are going to do in heaven? Praise god forever - really. There are 1000's of scriptures that can be interpreted in a many different ways. JW's just have a timeline/false promise that differs from Main Stream religion and in many cases that's what people are looking for, throw in persecution and you hook them. They really do study and put a lot of time researching but in the end they are just men peddling false hope, like all religion. I'm sure you peddle persecution also. Daniel and Revelation simply can't be read and easily understood so that's where the "holy spirit" peddlers come in - they say god spoke to them. It's all nonsense. There is a revelation of peter just as confusing as the revelation of john and 1000's of other letters that didn't make the cut for the NT. It took 300 years to ratify the NT letters. 300 years, let that sink in. 300 years to select the letters for the perfect con game. If the Bible was written by god you would think he would write a book anyone could understand (and not kill each other over) and prove could only be written by god. Science has disproved much of the so called science facts. Did god warn Adam and Eve if they ate from the Tree of Knowledge they will burn forever in hell? Or did he say they will die and go back into the ground. If there is a hell your god is a monster for not warning them. @@LightoverDarkMinistry
