Feeling stumped when a Jehovah's Witness comes to your door? Here are 3 questions you can ask.
For more Jehovah's Witness content on what they believe or dealing with their arguments, you can check out the JW playlist, or go to the main page of the channel.
    Playlist: • Jehovah's Witness's Go...
    Main Page: / @lightoverdarkministry
    Questions:
    ------------------
    1. Did Jesus return invisibly and appoint his faithful slave?
They will say yes, but respond Matthew 24:26 says not to trust people that say that.
    2. Are you a child of God?
They will say no. Ask what child are they, since the Bible only gives two categories of children, good and bad. Galatians 4 shows how there is only 1 class of Christian.
    3. Can I read the Bible on my own, and come to an accurate truth?
They are forced to say no, use 2 Timothy 3:16, or 1 John 2:27, which says all we need is scripture, and it's the Holy Spirit's job to teach us, not men.

When the Witnesses knock on my door, I politely tell them I'm busy and to please give me their home address, and that I'll drop by their house unannounced in a few days to "talk about The Word." They always look at me strangely and reply, "I'm not giving you my home address," to which I respond, "Why not? You have my address." They end up leaving.

Have not had JWs or LDSs at my door in years. About 35 years ago I was a Marine stationed on O’ahu. I had duty on Saturday (24 hrs), so I was tired Sunday morning. Went to bed once I got home. JWs came to my door about 11. Ticked me off because they woke me up and I figured they were making their rounds at that time to catch ‘reprobates’ who were not in church. My house was rather small, so I stuck my head out my bedroom window and addressed them as they stood on my front steps and told them to PLEASE leave me alone. I had been up most of the night due to MILITARY commitments, protecting THEIR freedom. And I would normally be in CHURCH at that hour and did not believe as they believed. Can’t remember their response….I went back to sleep! 😴

Also when talking to them keep in mind that apologetics isn’t so much about convincing people of the faith as much as it is about *defending* the faith. Ultimately it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to convict them because He’s much better at that than we are.
We as humans have infinitely less knowledge & patience than the Holy Spirit. So when we fail to convince someone because we forgot something or couldn’t keep our patience we get angry and think we failed apologetics when in reality we just missed the point of apologetics: to “give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you…”

I had a couple of JW men come to my house on several occasions decades ago trying to convince me, but they always left confused and upset.
The came one day with a converted Christian woman (CCW). I guess they thought they would be able to use her to convince me.
The conversation went something like this; CCW as she offered me a Watchtower mag while the JWs stood smugly behind her: I was a Christian until I started attending their home studies.
Me: May I have one of your bibles?
CCW: No, that it would be too expensive if we gave one to everyone that asked.
Me do you read the Bible?
CCW: We didn't have the understanding to read the Bible on our own. That's why the Watchtower literature helps us to understand the Bible.
Me: would you accept Christian literature to help you understand the Scriptures better after claiming James 1:5.
CCW: I cannot accept anything written by Man, only the Bible contains the Truth.
Me: If this is true, why do you accept the Watchtower and other JW literature?
CCW: Well, because they said it would help me understand the Bible better.
Me: Who wrote the Watchtower and the other JW literature? Isn't it men that wrote it?
CCW began to look confused while the JWs began to panick: Well, yes, but...
Me: Didn't they tell you you weren't to accept anything written by Man?
CCW more confused: But, but they told me...
    JWs alarmed
Me: Asked them why is it that they told you not to accept any literature written by Man, yet they told you to read their literature?
CCW now confused looking back towards them and back to me: But, but, I was...told, but.
Me looking at the JWs: Can you explain why JWs are not to accept nor read any literature written by Man while telling them they have to read the Watchtower and other JW literature that was written by men from your Faith?
CCW looking dazed and confused making hand gestures of "what's going on?"
A JW grabbed her by the hand, told her, "Let's go.", spun her around and left.
I told the CCW to come back whenever she wanted.

James 1:17 makes it clear that God does not change and there are many other verses that teach the immutability of God. The Bible also says in John chapter 1 that Jesus Christ is the Word become flesh who dwelt among us. In order for the New World Translation and all the other writings of the Jehovah’s Witnesses to be true then God has changed. Everything they say must be rejected. I am not willing to become an expert in their demonic doctrines in order to witness to them. Galatians 1:6-9 makes it clear that there is ONE gospel and those who preach another are accursed. If a JW came to my door they would not be invited in or greeted. They would not be allowed to conduct a study of the New World Translation or any of their other writings. I would simply tell them that based on the Bible which predates JW’s by thousands of years everything they say must be rejected. They have not a leg to stand on. You are never more loving than when you speak the truth. If I was to entertain them and let them speak I would only be allowing them to add to their sin and my own which is the point of 1 John 1:10.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. And these are my answer to these questions.
Question 1) Did Jesus return invisibly, and appoint his faithful slave?
Answer: Yes. Many confuse Jesus' presence (in kingdom power) with his coming to execute judgement at Armageddon. The gentile times ended in 1914, and Jesus was installed as king of God's kingdom in that year. This is established by both Biblical prophesy, and the sign Jesus gave at Matt 24:3-.
At 2:10 that circular reasoning is not used by JW. That is a straw man. People become JW because it is evident what they teach comes from the Bible. Recognizing this is the true congregation makes further determinations possible. Like who that slave is.
At 2:30 if Jesus would be seen, then why did he give a sign? Those specific verses are about when Jesus comes to execute judgement.
3:10 Jesus gave the sign of his presence. That is in scripture! Not the invention of men.

Question 2) Are you a child of God.
Answer: Yes. While the anointed have a special relationship, and are said to be adopted as sons in a special way, all who are dedicated to God are God's children. 1 John 3:10 The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Whoever does not practice righteousness does not originate with God, nor does the one who does not love his brother.
The anointed are to serve with Christ, as kings over the Earth, for the benefit of faithful mankind.
    --
Question 3) Can I read the Bible on my own and come to an accurate truth?
Answer: No. That is why there are thousands of denominations. You need to be where God's spirit is! We need to meet with our brothers.
Acts 8:29 So the spirit said to Philip: “Go over and approach this chariot.” 30 Philip ran alongside and heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet, and he said: “Do you actually know what you are reading?” 31 He said: “Really, how could I ever do so unless someone guided me?” So he urged Philip to get on and sit down with him.
What you believe needs to be in harmony with the true congregation Jesus is head of. The question is, can you reject the congregation Jesus is head of, and still be acceptable to Jesus?

This is a post for DX (aka "Mr D C1"). The topic of the 144,000 keeps coming up and DX will not be honest and answer my questions. So I'll post them up front and see if you will answer them. Everyone, please refrain from jumping in and allowing him to divert the conversation. Please simply post "You haven't answered the question" each time he deflects but don't ask additional questions, let's get an answer.
The apocalyptic genre that John employs in Revelation routinely employs symbolic numbers (look at all the 7's and 12's in Revelation). I think it is quite evident that the 144,000 is a symbolic number but JW's insist that it is literal. If that is the case then they must be consistent and interpret the other parts of the passage literally, so lets see if DX is consistent.
“'Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.' And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad, 12,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh, 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar, 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.” (Rev 7:3-8)
Question 1: Do these people literally have a mark in their forehead?
Question 2: Are these Jews or Gentiles? The text mentions the twelve (12) sons of Israel, so are they Jews?
“Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. *It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins.* It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb,” (Rev 14:1-4)
Question 3: Are these people literally male virgins?
Let's see if we get answers or deflections.

What I find amazing about the JWs is, THEY the WT can make hundreds of doctrinal changes and blatant contradictions, and that's okay, but any Christian Denomination that is perceived to have done something wrong in their past and they the JW becomes completely obsessed and judgemental about it.
The average JW reminds me of the Racist Cop Rod Steiger in the movie "In the Heat of the Night" where all black people are guilty including the black cop (Sidney Poitier), but nearly all white people are guilt free.

One can not say anymore than the Bible teaches that Jesus is The son of God Jehovah the almighty and that Jesus is A god, not THE true god and not equal to his father Jehovah (Mathew 24:38-41) if he was he would know what Jehovah god knows would he not? He never displayed himself as equal and he did not send himself, but always said:" He that sent me" and Jehovah saying "this is my son whom I have approved". You need to do more research regarding translations of the Greek scriptures.

    • @BasicBiblicalTruth

      Do you know Greek?
Here is a citation from one of my Greek grammars:
“John’s Gospel opens with the majestic words, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…’ John asserts, in a striking exclamation point, that the Word was himself God. The reader is left to infer that there are two referents of θεός, God (the Father; John 1:14) and the Word (Jesus; John 1:17). John’s striking opening assertion sets up the question of Jesus’s identity that will dominate the rest of the entire Gospel, ultimately leading to Jesus’s crucifixion: the deity of Christ. In the original historical context, Jesus faces escalating opposition from the Jewish leaders who consider his claim blasphemy (5:17-18; 8:58-59; 10:30-33). Indeed, at Jesus’s trial, they tell Pilate the Roman governor, ‘We have a law, and according to that law He must die, because He made Himself the Son of God’ (John 19:7).
In our day, too, there are those who dispute Jesus’s claim to deity, not least by challenging the conventional understanding of John 1:1, and here in particular the third phrase, ‘the Word was God’ (θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος). In part, the reason for this is that the word order is reversed, with the predicate nominative (θεός) preceding the subject (ὁ λόγος). Is it legitimate to infer from the lack of article in front of θεός that ‘God’ is indefinite and should be rendered ‘a god’? The answer is a firm ‘no.’ According to Greek syntax, it is common for a definite nominative predicate noun preceding a finite verb to be without the article. In this way, the subject (articular) is distinguished from the predicate nominative (anarthrous, i.e., without the article), yet without indicating that the latter is indefinite (as in ‘a god’). Of course, Jesus’s deity does not rest on this one verse (see, e.g., John 20:28), but a sufficient knowledge of Greek syntax saves the reader from drawing the wrong conclusion.” Andreas J Köstenberger, Benjamin L Merkle, and Robert L Plummer, Going Deeper with New Testament Greek : An Intermediate Study of the Grammar and Syntax of the New Testament (Nashville, Tennessee: B & H Academic, 2020), 51-52.

      @A-Academy-1 5 месяцев назад

@@BasicBiblicalTruth there is no need for Greek syntaxes consideration to be able to understand the plain Truths in the entire Bible. The deity of Jesus cannot be argued just as the Almightiness of his father Jehovah cannot be argued. Jesus is God, Jehovah is God, Satan is God, Angels are God, all are delty and divine in origin, but none of the other delties are equal to the Almighty who created them all. The entire Bible should be considered to understand the relationship of God Almighty to Jesus his son. Hebrew bible writers all believed in one delty not three. Since they never entertained such taught, it will be wrong to begin to infer that Genesis 1:1 use of the Excellence plural word "Lord" suggest Moses was implying three God. Such idea was never entertained by him. Likewise, it will be wrong to say that John at 1:1 was entertaining the idea of Jesus being of the same equality or substance with his father, since John many other verses insist that Jesus is the son of God, and even said that those who deny that Jesus is the son 9f God are Antichrist.

    • @BasicBiblicalTruth
      @BasicBiblicalTruth 5 месяцев назад

@@A-Academy-1 It isn't necessary to know Greek syntax to understand the overarching message of the Bible, but it does help to refute error-such as the polytheistic claim that Jesus is "a god" in John 1:1.
You can argue that Gen 1:1 is a plural of excellence, but you can't make the same claim in Gen 1:26 because Hebrew didn't have a plural of excellence in relation to pronouns and verbs. The "US" is the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The "OUR image" is the image of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) (we are not made in the image of angels).
While the full revelation that God is triune awaited the fullness of time for the missions of the Son and Spirit (Gal 4:4), hints are given in the Hebrew text for the observant reader.
Indeed, as the non-Christian Jewish scholar Daniel Boyarin says, “Jesus, when he came, came in a form that many, many Jews were expecting: a second divine figure incarnated in a human. The question was not ‘Is a divine Messiah coming?’ but only ‘Is this carpenter from Nazareth the One we are expecting?’ Not surprisingly, some Jews said yes and some said no. Today we call the first group Christians and the second group Jews, but it was not like that then, not at all. Everybody then-both those who accepted Jesus and those who didn't-was Jewish.”[1]
The NT identifies Jesus as Jehovah, the second person of the triune God, by taking OT Jehovah passages and applying them to Jesus: Mar 1:2-3 (citing Isa 40:3 & Mal 3:1), Rom 10:13 (citing Joel 2:32), Phi 2:10-11 (citing Isa 45:23), 2Thes 1:9 (citing Isa 2:10), Heb 1:10-12 (citing Psa 102:25-27), 1Pe 2:3 (Psa 34:8), 3:14-15 (Isa 8:12-13).

That Jesus is a god in John 1:1 agrees with the entire scriptural description of Jesus relationship with his father. So argument on Greek syntaxes for and against is only scholarly arguments but the entire scripture settles the issue plainly on the Monotheistic lie against John 1:1. If you argue that because the title "Theoz" (God, god) is used for both Jesus and his father (in NT or OT) mean they are not two separate delties, differing in substance, will completely invalidate the entire scripture (See Psalm 110:1).
Even Genesis 1:26 does not in anyways prove that God and Jesus ( "US" and "OUR", which agrees with Colossians 1:15, 16), mean monotheism of God. Instead, "US" and "OUR" completely and plainly indicate plural, two or more separate beings. Moses need no hiding meaning to understand what US and OUR is - two or more separate beings.
No Revelation regarding Necean creeds are in anyways hidden in the Bible as Revelation. Any teaching not support by entire scripture cannot be any awaiting Revelation to be revealed to apostate Christians, the same ideology the Inquisition took place.
Finally, even Angels in the Bible are sometimes refer as Jehovah. This does not make them Almighty God, because those Hebrews knew well that they are Jehovah's representative and spokes person to him as Jesus was. Genesis 18:1-3. Exodus 4:13. Judges 13:6-8 e.t.c
The distinction between Jesus and his father have always been clear to servants of God at all times, both in OT and NT era. Compare Psalms 110:1 in OT and, check the citation in NT. Mathew 22:43-44. Mark 12:36. Acts 2:34, 35.

This video causes me to reminisce about my childhood in the late 50s and most of the 60s. I went to a local fundamentalist church all through their Sunday school program from pre-school to college. One of the most active teachers in the program was Mrs. Goldman a very caring but strict teacher who had grandchildren close to my age that I was close to. The only people Mrs Goldman hated were Jehovah's Witnesses missionaries who would go door to door actively trying to recruit members for their church. In my small town, there was a grapevine that operated very efficiently. It was a well-known fact that Mrs. Goldman disliked the Witnesses members who came calling. When her friends informed her that the Witnesses were in town, she called as many of her friends as she could to warn them about the unwelcome visitors. When the Witnesses knocked on her door she met them with a broom in her hand. Before they could speak Mrs. Goldman would say, " Let me ask you one question. Do you salute the American flag?" When they answered her with an emphatic no she told them As she raised her broom she said fiercely "Then get off of my porch I don't allow anyone on my property that doesn't salute the flag!" You should have seen the witnesses scrambling to get off of the porch as they were convinced she was about to go after them with her broom..Her method of dealing with the Witnesses was much quicker but equally as effective as yours. She never had repeated visits for those who had been thrown off of her property because they were convinced that she meant business. This was so out of character for her because as I said she was a strict but loving teacher that I shall remember for the rest of my days. The moral of the story. "do not mess with a grandmother who brings a broom with her to answer the door"

Deuteronomy 18:10 There should NOT BE FOUND IN YOU anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, 11 anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who CONSULTS SPIRIT MEDIUM medium or A FORTUNE TELLER, or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For whoever does these things IS DETESTIBLE to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable practices Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you. 13 You should prove yourself blameless before Jehovah your God.

It seems your friend has much to work on. Being materialistic it a trait of this Satanic word.
(1 John 2:15-17) Do not love either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16 because everything in the world-the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life-does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever.

If they're adults - and they have a brain - they're *not* victims. They make their own choices - and are responsible for that choices, along with every consequence that comes with it.

I've had two JW's try to school me on the trinity, saying that there is no mention of the three ever being together at the same time. I told them the story of Jesus's baptism, and they soon found excuses to leave and they never came back.

The great 'litmus' test is always who Jesus is. Ask : Is Jesus Lord or is He not? The second question is 'Did Jesus come in flesh?' JWs don't believe this. Christians believe that God came in the flesh (John 1) - the Incarnation is central to the Christian Faith. JWs believe that Jesus is A son of God. Christians believe that Jesus is THE Son of God. God with us- Emmanuel.

In Revelation 22, Jesus states that he is the ‘…alpha and omega, the first and last, the beginning and the end.’ This refutes their argument that Jesus is merely an Angel.

Any time a person rings my door bell that I do not know I always remember a chore I need two people to complete and greet that person by loudly pronouncing that I'm so happy they came along at just the right moment to volunteer to help me lift the heavy object or climb the precariously perched ladder or do something else that they will regret ringing my doorbell.

A Hari Krishna interrupted my brother-in-law at breakfast one Sunday morning by knocking at the door. When he answered the door the Krishna asked "Excuse me sir. Have you ever heard of Krishna consciousness?". My brother-in-law responded while balling his fist " No, but have you ever heard of Krishna unconsciousness?" and slammed the door in the guys face!

Questioning them is good if there is a desire to learn what the Bible teaches.
If anyone knew the TRUTH they will be going house to house with JWs.
Others sitting at home trying to make the lives of JWs miserable achieves what?
Ezekiel 2:7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or not, for they are a rebellious people.

@tongakhan230 no brother, you believe in an anti christ religion that distorts everything from the original texts to meanings of those texts. I would reccomend doing research outside of your "watchtower" network, and reading a real bible version, not the one made to support your liar founders doctrines

In researching the organization's history I pointed out the many changes.....in some cases back and forth. Usually based on who is running things at that time. I have some of their books dated from 1960's to 2000's . This can not be explained away as "New Light".

Two of the hottest young women I have ever seen came to the door representing JW. I listened enraptured and encouraged them to preach to me. I a agreed with everything they said, polite devil that I am. One of them said "Can I come back later to discuss this further?" Just then my wife inquired from the kitchen who was at the door and I figured it was best for the young lady to come back.

The last time they showed up at my door, a woman asked me if she could talk about the bible. I asked, which bible are you talking about? Then I told her to google changes made to the bible that support JW, along with other changes to bible previsions. I explained to her why I believe the KJV is the only one that preserves Gods word. She seemed stunned and speechless. I turned around and went back inside.
