    I remember when I was with ol spermco the neta 4s tested almost nothing but SEL relays.
    Now the company I'm with we do motor protection relays mainly multilins. I'm hoping between your videos and learning from out grumpy old neta 4 tech I'll be somewhat decent at relays in a few years

      That's the only way to get good haha. I can make a similar one for multilins too if there's any interest. SEL certainly has the majority of the market lately from what I've seen but multilins have been around.

      If you want to test motor relays, get the manual and start reading. They are substantially different from feeder and generator protection.

    Thank you for sharing your experiences in Relaying testing. This is really important and helpful to a lot of relay tech . Great job. Now if you upload a video of ENOSERV RTS 7.1 much needed. See you soon. Keep up the good work.

      I probably wont be making any RTS videos, for a few reasons. #1 I'm a protections suite guy. #2 the whole point of RTS is that it does all of the work for you and you're just a pushing buttons. In my relay testing series, I'll do my best to explain the concepts and help you understand the math behind what we're doing when we test relays. Hopefully that'll make the steps RTS runs make more sense. If you need immediate help with RTS they have some very good paid training classes.

    That's a great video. I really appreciate all the explanations. I am new to SEL products. Do you have a video about setting relay parameters such as CT ratio? Thank you

      My videos are more tailored to the technicians doing the work in the field. Generating settings is definitely more of an engineering activity, but I'll have some videos covering a little of that scope as it relates to testing relays coming soon!

    does C662 cable work with GE relays?

    • @testingtechtips
      @testingtechtips  7 месяцев назад

      Yes*
      I've had good luck with it working by moving the DCS/DTE switch, BUT I've had a few guys tell me it doesn't work on older GE relays. Not sure why. I always keep a C662 and a separate generic RS232 cable (I recommend one from Startech.com cause I know it's good quality), a null modem adapter, and gender bender in my go-bag just in case.

    Man, I'm barely getting into the testing field coming from the construction side and all I got to say is DONT TAKE ANY INFORMATION FOR GRANTED. Wish we had more techs at least higher-level ones make RUclips videos to help out the younger techs out.
