- The latest Xbox news indicates that the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 game pass decision was a very recent one. I initially disagreed with the idea that they were doubling down on Xbox Game Pass, but it appears they are all in after the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 trailers.
So let's discuss the Xbox Showcase 2024 and all the Game Pass games that were announced, and why this proved one of my predictions about the event totally wrong.

This might be the first time in 12 years I’ve purchased a Call of Duty Game.
I watched the show and the Phil Spencer interview after.
To me it seemed he downplayed gamepass. He said "buy games" wayyy more than subscribe. In the interview he even said, "you can buy on Xbox, or subscribe to the game, because it would be supported by other screens (PlayStation). Kinda crazy really how much more he talks about buying games in that interview
I think it's reverse psychology people tend to do the opposite of what information is given to them(generally speaking)but I also think them showing and giving the option is what's going to push subs and then properly informing what gamepass actually is because the biggest misconception is that there's only gamepass and that games arent or cant be bought on xbox instead inform more concisely about the offers and benefits of GP i.e discount on games purchased thats on GP and perks etc. especially after this showing of games and value which xbox GP brings

I think it's the fact gamepass is not sustainable for big titles. If it were, they wouldn't need to sell the games on other platforms.
Honestly the whole thing is fighting with itself. If you want gamepass to succeed, you make the content exclusive to gamepass. You're confusing the customer otherwise. I think the majority of gamers prefer to just buy the games they want.
@@B-U-T-C-H-E-R regardless of if someone has Netflix they still may want to buy a movie or go to the theater again it's just about the option and to me at least it's not about GP being sustainable or not I think it's more of Microsoft execs wanting a quick return on ABK Xbox is gonna be fine however you slice it though

Once they start putting all their content on PlayStation, and get a taste of those sales numbers, we'll see what happens then. If they want to keep it going, so be it
@@B-U-T-C-H-E-R well they already tested that sot doing good Hifi not so much but I don't think they'd jump straight to games like a gears or halo or Forza literal identities of Xbox and if we're talking about sustainable neither is Sony's as to why they went to PC and now licensed their IP to Lego to put it on the switch and PC those 200-300million dollars games aren't it as we can see some of their short comings as well hopefully they find a balance
100% disagree, 10 million more to have pass for $17 a month is well worth it. You’re forgetting how people have to stay on to play PvP instead of a one time charge.
I think people are forgetting when sony had the deal with cod they were getting 20%now microsoft owns sony gets the standard 30% now they are making more money now than before

I’m going to be switching over to Xbox this year from PS4. I liked the new series X console but I’m not waiting until holidays to get one of the new consoles. I think that since MS is the publisher of CoD that the PS5 users monthly users will be counted towards MS possibly?? 🤔
I'm more concerned about games going on Game Pass. First-party Game Pass games so far haven't been that great.
As someone who recently started listening to these discussion streams i gotta say its so weird hearing people arguing about someone being team green or blue in the face of criticism of one side or the other. This wouldn't have surprised me 10+ years ago but its odd nowadays. As lono said, you can be critical of things you are passionate about.

Gamepass IS the problem. Only Microsoft can throw money away, but only for so long, hence the 3rd party nonsense.
3rd party comes about because europeans and japanese wont buy xbox consoles....so to make up the loss of revenue they use sonys 100 million players to make up the difference.
I think people will buy gamepass and still actual purchase the game.

I think majority of people are just glad all the games will be on one platform. No need to buy multiple consoles, PC upgrades,yadda yadda.
That will never happen as long as Nintendo exists. Also if Xbox moves out of the console arena it's not crazy to think another megacorp attempts to slide into the market.

They don't say console anymore, they only say hardware, and the only news we're hearing from insiders is they are moving away from traditional consoles.
There's absolutely no reason to keep a game here or there exclusive at this point. In the latest show you didn't see or hear the word exclusive anywhere. To the contrary, they held an interview with Phil so he could tell Xbox gamers directly they are bringing more games to other platforms

Nintendo and PlayStation have coexisted for many decades. They have found a way to each contribute to gaming without being direct competitors. They actually compliment each other well in my opinion. Owning both is extremely viable because it broadens your gaming experience significantly. The same can't be said of owning an Xbox and a PlayStation, with all the content that overlaps

I wouldn’t mind going back to buying physical media.
No point, discs don't hold enough space to hold the game and u always need to download a day 1 patch anyway lol even if u buy physical you still don't technically own the game anymore

Microsoft wants to win the services and software war. If games goes to let’s say PlayStation. I think Microsoft will require a service from ps users to be on either Xbox live or game pass. So meaning getting a piece of Sonys user base over to Microsoft
to add to your comment about ps5 making games for switch, if the rumors are true about a ps handheld, why wouldn't ps want to make games for the switch 2? if the hardware is similar
No matter how successful 3rd party is for Xbox, it won't make PlayStation do the same thing.
COD and DOOM already sell a ton on PlayStation. It doesn't matter who owns them, PlayStation still gets their cut
playstation will do the same thing if xbox is succesfull ...all they have done is act like apple --copy and act like the inovator when they finally do it.
@@iamthegameprono, they won't, because Sony is successful at selling 100 million consoles with that exclusivity. Xbox owners don't even buy games, they bought 3 million copies of Starfield. PC carried that game
Not only does Sony get their 30% to put games on their platform, the put in zero finances in making the game & take zero risk.

Yes, Sony has made PC games since the 90s. I'm talking specifically about putting their games on Xbox, or any other company that tries to fill that void when Xbox exits consoles.
PlayStations business model still revolves around their console. They build all these big AAA games to attract people to their platform.
They are trying to expand the reach of their IP though, through movies, TV, and porting older games to PC. It's all in an effort to attract people to their platform, and considering they are a market leader, I'd say it's working. Even against companies worth 10x more than themselves
I think Hellblade 2 & Stalker 2 look great, & Perfect Dark & Gears of War have my attention, but i dont see a whole lot else for me personally.
I gotta say… very rarely has a game’s price ever deterred me from a purchase. It’s always come down to interest and quality of the title. Price is whatever in my opinion. The weird obsession over the past few years since GamePass makes it sound like video games never cost money before 🤷🏻♂️ whatever man. I subscribe to GamePass, Nintendo online and PS+ Premium… I still buy games. I can’t be alone lol
I think, Astro and Lego horizon are just filler for ps5 pro…we will get this show stopper showcase with a massive hype train
Xbox doubling down on Game Pass is like an American doubling down on gridiron football in Europe: it won’t work.
Ms will be a full third party pub and they need to get rid of the potato in the room it's the albatross holding them back we all know the series S is the reason Black Myth Wukong is delayed on Xbox it's time to have series X exclusives because their will not be anymore Xbox exclusives!
