- This whole job was done in one day. Using a spray booth we were able to bake the clearcoat on the final job and it was cured.
The primer and paint can be done using Acrylic products which is suitable for a garage or backyard.
The best explanation of blending I’ve seen. I’ve watched tons of videos with “blending” in the title that give almost no explanation of the blending techniques. You guys are great!
One of the most useful body repair videos I've found out there, the walkthrough and clear-cut instructions are much appreciated
This geezer clearly knows his craft. It probably all comes naturally to him. Any experienced panel beater will know you work with your fingers and not your eyes. Job well done to this fella. Learnt a few new things here. You're never to old to learn.
Fantastic demonstration !! Thank you. 10/10. I learnt a great deal here. I also now see why panels are not cheap to respray - a lot of time and materials go into them. Thanks for your efforts.
I really appreciated the easy step by step process. Much much better than any other video I could find. Thanks heaps.
well i think this guy showed the critics, he knows what hes doing, when sanding he didnt protect other panels ,240 then straight to 800, i think he has lots of exsperance wiht hes job .....end results say it all, great job
I thought the video was really good and I am half way through a job on my car same colour blue so that helped. Gave great advice, thank you Dave Gatt and Mario Borg. Wrote down some notes on this. Now I put to practice.
All your videos are great! and to make things better, Australian! Fabulous work boys!
Great vid. You explained how you're doing absolutely every little bit. Thanks!
Best video of the year I have watched ... Really wonderful explanation !!!
The best video I've seen very good explaining and showing how to do the blend thank you helped me with a lot of queastiom
hi brother your a very kind, your a good person, you show how to paint and how to filler the scratch, thanks man for your video, its a big help to people interested for that job,,,,,,,god bless you and more power to your business,,,
Awesome vid. Will be attempting some diy spaying myself when the garage is cleared out so this video helped a lot! Similar sort of areas too thanks guys!
very good,.. thanks for the Lessons on a great job,.. you did it so easy,.. the car came out great,.. you Da-MAN !
Very nice work! Great walk through.
Thank you . Now I can fix my car at home you answered all my questions. Thanks again
Ive learned allot from this video... Leave the dent as it is !!!
THIS IS A REAL GOOD PAINT MASTER , FOR A REAL CAR PAINT JOB ...
you have a nice facility. right down to the spray gun washing station. nice!
great work, good thing u guys are just down the road from me so i can get my products close by
This helps me a lot, I have a similar problem on my Chevelle. Thanks.
I used that primer when I works in Australia.
nice product great finishing
Great work and looks really well blended. Good info too. Thanks much
Unreal that looks so good. Keep up the good work.
all this work for a deep scratches on car.. wow! real professional paint job, .. moneys worth...
Great vid..like the idea of using the yellow masking tape to show the base coat has blended out
great vid, seems like alot of work for a few scratches though, i have scratches down the drivers side of my VZ front and rear quarters, both doors and roof, i can only imagine the work involved to respray that and the price. you guys are great teachers much respect
I wouldn't dream of attempting this on my car. It's definitely a job for a skilled person.
Give the guy a break if he paint the whole fender he does not need to feather it in and if u know what u talking about he already fold the paper back making the feather edge. Primer need to be sand to be smooth thats why its call primer not base. Half of these commentors does not know what they were talking about.
Really I'm agreed with you, some people just follow his theories without take the practics in consideration that's why as you say most of them don't know what they talking about you right
That's a chop shop work. I can understand doing that in your garage on the budget (even that's a stretch). He is painting fender and bumper on the the car. The clear will be peelingsooner rather than later.
Looks good, I like the orange peel effect.
There's orange peel on factory paint jobs.
Great work guys!
Excellent workmanship.
Great informative video makes it look easy how ever i am sure it takes time to do as good a job , thanks
Nice work! Thanks for sharing your trade.
looks pretty good over heeyah!
Can't fault the results, looks great; I'd probably say the the repair area was made bigger than it needed to be in my own opinion, could have potentially made it small and reduced material use. But as I said, great results
That is scuffing paste and grey scotchbrite. It is used to dull the clear, it puts fine scratches in the paint and will allow the clearcoat to stick
My A4 is going in I hope they do as good a job as you man. Great video.
Good explanation of all the steps good job
Damn , the guy is confident to scrub away at the panels of the expensive car with 80 grit etc. Kudos.
Great Video Mario! Thanks for sharing the trade secrets, I'm going to give this a try on the old ute after I left a nasty scratch in her when reversing into the letterbox :(
Every painter/ body guy all have their own ways of attacking a job.. im 26 plus years in the body repair game and i must admit im of the old school technician.. i was taught to always try and get most of dings out best you can and sand back to bright work (metal) before applying bondo / bodyfiller but like i said each to their own . . ;)
There are alot of things in this vid I DO NOT agree on,but oh well, hes doing his best. TIP: Every car has a color code, and the color can be matched perfectly, yet this also depends on who mixs the paint for a good result if not done by your self.
Well done, that's an awesome spray job
Because that's the process. You need a surface for the paint to "Key". when the primer is sprayed on it will go a bit orange peel. flatting it avoids getting this in your finish.
Now...I know why it's so expensive. Great job!
Good on ya Mario. Great Job, OK.
Good video and explanation.
That is exactly what I felt while I was watching this video.
awesome video. God bless you sharing your knowledge.
after all the ass holes and smart ass painter , i finally know and found the real real pro painter for the car ... ole .. awsome
Its take alot of practice to be good at that, I do bodywork but not a pro yet. good video
For all those guys who loves this painter, look closely at 16:03. The color is definitely lighter then the rest of the car. It doesn't have that deep shadow effect.
And that orange peel...dude try this on toy cars not on real ones.
only thing is that you put more patch than needed. and also you can't just guess on the contour line when you hand sand, you have to follow the sharpness of the body contour , as if it come out of the factory
Nice video very good job
Good, hands-on advice
Fantastic video! Very informative!
Wow! Exelent job! Thanks for showing it.
!. Small demage on the corner of the right fender is easy to fix without body filler.
Looks like you didn`t do metal work just applied heavy coat of body filler.
2. Body filler doesn`t go over clear coat/paint.
3. The bumper has to be out.
4. For that small demage you don`t need heavy coat of primer.
5. After 240 grit next sandpaper has to be 260 or 280 not 800 grit
you can`t jump more then two next grit.
6. You didn`t prep well the corner of the fender because the bumper was close.
7. "Unicolor" is good staff for old & rusty cars but not for prestige cars like Audi.
What do you think if motorcyclist killed some of kids ?
You will say no police responsibility.
Marc King I posted this on other video ????
Kudos for an explanation... I picked up 2 and 3. I think someone sprayed my car where bumper meets panel and did the job without removing the bumper... After being driven for a couple of years (with bumper movement) the paint has started to split and peel where the panels join.
Mark Graham Of course it must peel off because cant sand, cant clean properly that area... cheaters making quick money. They knows technology
better than chemical engineers from pant factories.
that audi was not "prestige" - just a piece of shit audi mate. maybe where you are from people dream about shitboxes like that - where is your video ? nowhere cos you cant do shit.
great repair but audio was terrible - too much background noise
Very informative. Will be using you vid to do my own car
Awesome job mate
Nice job 👍🏾
The creases in the repaired areas are not as crisp as the rest of the fender. Little effort to make the final shape match the original factory shape of the car. Using the whole fender to blend layers is a labor shortcut for professionals, but turns a small repair into a big production for the home garage.
The car does not need a paint job!!! the damage was very small and can be fixed easily.
Good job, you should remove the negative clutter from this.
top work mate thanks for sharing. going to help me fix my VX Berlina
Nice work and good details
It looks really good, why some people still use a wet sandpaper and buff it after all this job? Is it really necessary?
@michaelessery its not a HVLP. Its a normal Gravity Spray gun running at 55psi.
whoa does this guy know what he is talking about! That gun was a Iwata LPH400, which only comes in HVLP!
great video well explained exellent paint job.
Would never get away with that kinda job in UK pro bodyshop
Bumper would have been removed with lamps, all edges sealed between front of wing and bumper. Get a pressure washer on them front wings between the wing and the bumper cover and the paint will be flaking back in no time. But for an amature who borrowed his mates oven, its of a fair standard.
I 100% agree
Pro , experienced work fantastic
how do you spray it without needing to cut and buff? the high air pressure?
This is educational video and great thanks
i find that he messed the line of the fender on the driver side. He didn't sanded properly and the fender line is rounded instead of sharp.
Great video!
it take many time .but it really good..
Very very good
Nice tutorial....
Looked good in the end but I cant understand why the whole panel wasn't sprayed as that would be easier instead of trying to blend it all in.
There needs to be some of the original paint left on the panel so the new paint blends into that. If you were to paint the entire panel, you would need to also blend that entire panel with the other panels (door and hood). These are repair/restore jobs, it's not going to be perfect (painting entire car). These are 'tricks' to get as close as possible to something acceptable. I hope that helps.
Basically, so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb
Sathit Suwannakul No it doesn't that's how I do it. It blends. The outer part of the spray has less paint. Sort of like a color chart that fades into another color. Just very gradual bits mix with the original. It fans more finer, Less particles. Try spraying something on cardboard, You won't see one solid spot, You have outside bits.
Great work bro
a very good video, wouldnt mind bringing my car to you for work like that :-)
He folded the paper back which creates a feathered edge. Its a common technique used for spraying primer.
Good job
nice. thanks for the vid
what kind of plastic is that and where can i get it? it looks very simple to cover the whole car with, thanks
awesome work
Great job and explain thank u
You should have cleared the entire cover aswell. You mentioned how clear blends will fail prematurely, yet blend the cover?
Thanks for sharing. My question is what is the time interval every coat?
15 minutes, pay attention to the vídeo!!
13:07
Good job!
Is that the chocolate rain song? Lmao
Gracias excelente video!
Great video but a lots work just for small scratch.
He did.a.freat job all.the people bitching and criticizing need to make a link to thier video oh shit thats right they dont have one hahaha
1toughyamaha That I said to at another video. Make your own video. HAHAHA
A5 micro economy. Supporting families and putting food on the table.
notice the left fender still doesnt line up with the bumper the dent wasnt properly removed
Crazy. The noise (music?) is so loud, I can not hear at all.... is there anything reasonable to listen? because to watch .... not too much. :(
