- People always ask me if it's possible to use an amp sim live or with their band, through a guitar cabinet. Well, of course you can! Let me show you how and demo some chugs.

#ampsim #plugin #liveplugin - Развлечения
Like a previous commenter, I've used Amplitube a few times in a live setting. As a matter of fact I only use the following setup at home which is the same as the times I played in a live band scenario. Guitar>Focusrite Solo interface>Microsoft Surface Pro> Crate PB150 PowrrBlock s.s. amp (into effects loop)>passive p.a.
My approach: send plugin signal without IR to FX return of any amp available on stage. This is just for on stage monitoring (no mics). Then send the same plugin signal to IR player and then to FOH. I use AMT Pangaea CP-100FX, so it’s not only IR player, but DI box, noisegate and tuner. I have few pre-loaded IRs in the player that I can choose depending on the venue. All effects changes for my guitar are automated and overall project is with metronome for the drummer and with backing tracks.
best way !
Man, realized some stuff while watching this
1. I really need a C standard electric
2. People could hypothetically recreate your first tone since the Emissary freebie exists along with the two free IRs you posted somewhere
3. Your beard/goatee looks magnificent!
Haha, thanks! Yeah, I'm going to shoot some new IR's here soon since I've acquired a bunch of mics. But definitely, the emissary is GREAT especially being free.
Nice demo man!! That Kraterdimed in particular sounds killer imo
I like it a lot. VERY close to the real thing.
Amp sims that let you do split (ToneLib GFX, BiaS, Helix Native, et al) processing will allow for blended tube amp/solid state amp/distortion pedal tones, and you can use something like PedalBoard2 or Carla (vst/AU/LV2 hosts that are not DAW's) to do the same thing by loading multiple amp sims at once in parallel as long as you have the juice/CPU & RAM headroom.
Been using AmpliTube 5 with a real cab for a while now and it sounds killer. My current laptop ist just a little old by now. Need a new one who can handle lower latencies.
Sounds pretty cool man
Also, if you have an interface with multiple inputs, you can record the cab(s) and play back simultaneously, as well as potentially run the same laptop for both guitars and your bass player all at once. Makes recording live a whole lot easier. Just use an omni condenser at FOH, and then record everything else as if you're doing live off the floor studio recording, old school style, and record the vocal send to monitor mix. Instant live album.
How did I mis this...I’ve been experimenting with bias from my iPad into my powerstage 200...and I like it,looking at getting a midi commander. I would love to see these plugins go head to head with a kemper or axfx... especially in a live situation...sounds monstrous, great vid man.....
I would love to see a head to head with a Kemper in a recording and live environment. Great vid man..
thats pretty dope i dont think id ever do this but good to know i can if something happens
Great Video!
Thanks!! 🤘
Your channel rules dude
Thanks!
You should try the Neural DSP Omega Ampworks plugin through this setup. Heard guy run it through his fx return on his amp and sounded phenomenal 🤘🏻🔥
I bet it does. I’m sure they all sound great this way. I really liked the nameless!
That's pretty much what i use but i prefer an ipad with biasFX2. Ipad are very trusty. Guitar -> Ipad (alesis IO dock2 has interface)+FCB1010(midi switching) -> power amp -> 2x12" CAB
Yeah iPads are great also. Just more limits on what plugins you can use. The GE Labs app is great also.
How Dare You SIR.!!!!! just kidding that sounded badass! great video as always!!!!!!!
🥳🙌
I have a Marshall DSL100HR that has a 3.5mm imput jack (for mp3 players or cellphones) that amplifies the input signal with the power section much like the loop return. I've thought about running a male to male trs cable from the headphone output of my audio interface to the amp this way, but haven't gotten around to trying it. I did try it that way with my NUX Mighty Plug and it worked really well. Sounds like I'll have to try this method pretty soon now that I've got all of these new Black Friday discount plugins recently.
Hey if it works, awesome!
Eliminates the need for a reamp box
Yeah... Nice... Pretty Nice If Chug Battle With Guitar Plugins,Overloud,Neural DSP, STL Tonality, ML Studio, Nembrini, Brainworx,Otto Audio And Many More
Thanks! 🤔 that’s actually a pretty good idea.
@@TaylorDanley after i saw u do live plugins so how about Battle Chug with all the best of plugins 2020-2021...love it to hear chugging war
you should try modeller pedal with cabs or FRFR, which ones is better? thanks!
I always prefer a power amp/cab personally. I have a video on my channel about FRFRs. It’s like using a big studio monitor
You could even use your phone. The rhino by aurora DSP just dropped recently for iOS. Sounds amazing
This is true!
I have had issues with latency when trying to play through Rhino so far on iOS. Sounds fantastic though!
So if i did this would i just plug the cable from one of the speakep jacks to power amp?
Yep!
Couldn't you also theoretically enable the cab sims and run it direct to FOH or what-have-you?
Yeah easily. You just split the signal into two.
Depends on what program you are using, but yes you absolutely could.
@@TaylorDanley Noice. Thanks!
would you need a di box
Is this a software review or how to use the laptop as a guitar rig?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yes, but I wouldn't
🤣
That's dope but that would be a hassle live too much shit can go wrong lol
Xsonic actually has an interface designed for exactly this purpose. It even has midi footswitches on it to change presets etc.
I have one and didn’t even think about using it for this video, that would have been smart! 🤦♂️
@@TaylorDanley Ha ha classic. Easy to forget when accumulate so many gadgets over the years.
As a last ditch back up sure, but I think I'd still rather just plunk my old 500x on the floor before messing with a laptop, interface, etc on stage
Fair enough!
Well, I certainly am still going to bother with real amplifiers.
Its certainly feasible to run it this way, though.

Good ol' Framus Cobra, always sounding like garbage.
Just whatever you do DO NOT use windows. It updates and restars itself. It loves having driver issues etc etc. In other words, it's a POS for mission critical applications
Oh man, You’re going to trigger Glenn Fricker! I agree, but sometimes you just have to use what’s available. I’m sure you could use a cheaper windows laptop, but like you said it would be dicey. I’d definitely run the lightest plug-in available if that were the caee
@@TaylorDanley yeah man I've been in the software industry for many years. I always have all operating systems available to me. All of them have their issues. But windows is special, very special. Like any other musician that has played at least a few gigs I have also had the wonderful experience of something failing at a show. It's just a terrible feeling so if it can be avoided or the risk can be minimized it should imo
Why bother with REAL amplifiers? Sshhhhh you're going to upset Glen.
Doesn’t seem like that takes much
Don’t know if the limitation here are the sims or just your bad taste in tone but all of these sounded terrible.
Please.. stop! Stop doing this kind of weird things! Please.. use an amp, the feeling is so different, so real.. not only better sounding but better feeling at your guitar. The feedback at the guitar is mandatory!!
🤣🤣🤣
@@TaylorDanley if your broke don’t waste money on a 1,000 plus dollar tube amp. The plug-ins really do sound almost identical to the amp, if not better. The technology is really great. If you have money and space for amps and speaker cabinets then go for it but you can do so much with a plug-in in terms of amps and cabs and stuff for cheaper with a plug-in.
