Ok. So I've got a guitar from a company called Glarry, def Chinese. The body shape is the same, and its also feather-light. It was almost that cheap, I think I paid about a hundred. Its not as bad as that one, the neck is straight, the hardware is square, but everything feels cheap and flimsy. Am gonna replace it all, rout it more to accommodate a Floyd and the batteries for a set of active pickups, and it'll do for the stunt guitar. $100 for a straight body and neck isn't too bad imo.
@@Matthew750-4 No they don't. But then I am a little biased since I work on amps. But there are some good amps from the 80s and 90s if you just take out the shit speakers they will sound really nice. A little tweek to the circuit here and there and you can have something rival a modern day amp.
I don’t think anyone would be going in on one of these expecting it to be their one true guitar….but for a kid with zero experience, these are fine. I got a $50 no-name guitar as my first and I learned a lot about electronics and how a guitar works in general. Heck, 30 years later and I still go for the cheap ones because I like to tinker. I’ve had Martin acoustics and Gibson/Ibanez/Fender electrics and acoustics of varying prices and quality. Still prefer the cheap ones to take with me because I’d rather snap the neck of a Stagg than a Martin.
i think the problem is that this is a particularly bad cheap guitar, i've bought guitars for similar prices and they were actually properly set up and clearly had care put into them rather than just being haphazardly thrown together.
My buddy bought this as his first guitar about a year ago. Lol, worked on this thing for days straight and modded the hell out of it. It actually turned out pretty great for the price
I had asked my mom to buy this guitar 6 years ago, but I didn't have an amp, so it was left alone for 5 years. I picked it up again late 2023 after I finally got an amp. It's fun to play, but it's ROYAL pain trying to get any pinch harmonics out of it. Thanks for the run down, I'm now looking for a new guitar.
I gotta say that I see no point in breaking a guitar. There's nothing cool about destroying gear, when you can put it in a playable state and donate it where it's needed.
I totally agree. As bad as this guitar might be, for many people it would be quite a gift. But of course, youtubers need to put on their little show in exchange for likes.
Nah, the guitar is completely trash, even if put some decent pickups and better electronics, is more expensive and effortless than buying a mid-low budget guitar like Ephipone or Squire. Talking with experience that my first was a 100 usd non brand guitar from a pawn shop that I put diMarzo pickups compared to a Telecaster Squier that cost me 3/4 of what I put on that cheap one
@@BlueWizardRally As long as the guitar works (And this one did), there's no need to change pickups or anything. Just a set of decent strings and a basic setup. Everything is better than breaking the guitar.
beginners can't do a setup themselves, and paying to have it done would cost more than the guitar itself. @@angryroostercreations5194 beginners can't set it up? Dude I've been playing for like 25 years. Beginners can set up a guitar and adjust the truss rod.
@@timd729 a beginner who has no experience playing a guitar, and no experience playing a properly setup up guitar will not know how to properly setup up their new instrument. I've met plenty of "experienced" guitarist that have played poorly setup instruments because they never knew it could be done better. On these cheap imports the number one thing that is almost guaranteed to be wrong is High nut action. even if they figure out how to intonate the instrument, every note fretted on the first for frets will be pulled sharp, and anytime they play cowboy chords they guitar will sound horribly out of tune. If a new player is fighting the instruments the whole time they are trying to learn they are more likely to stop playing. and all this is assuming the guitar has good fret work. Some of these no name guitars are good, but some are terrible. Even most experienced players don't know how to dress sharp fret ends or deal with spotty fret leveling. You can get a Squire, Ibanez Gio, Epiphone, ect.. for not much more money. With the name brands you'll get a warranty and generally speaking a guaranteed return/exchange policy. Depending on where you buy the instrument it may come with and instore inspection/setup. like what sweet water does. All of these are better options for beginners. For someone that knows what they are doing who wants a cheap project/beater/backup axe, then yes i agree some of these no name axes are a steal.
What's crazy is it's not even the cheapest out there. I've paid less for Monoprice guitars (on sale) and they're very decent instruments at *any* price.
The reason is because a lot of companies essentially just hire the same factory to build their guitars when in the same price ranges, so you will see the same exact guitar sold under multiple names because it’s an easy way for a factory to get rid of stock and easy for the seller to get their stock faster. You can see this with Harley Benton and IYV and a few other companies. Harley Benton and IYV both sell a mustang copy with a jazzmaster bridge and they are the same exact guitar; the only difference is Benton has slightly better QC requirements than IYV does.
I won a cheap guitar on bid. £28 i paid. I fixed her up.. upgraded everything! Did the fretboard work myself and made it a single EMG and it’s an absolute beast now! Nothing is beyond our means when you have something half done for you in front of you! What a waste!
Tbh I think the thing is fairy impressive for 70$ it doesn't sound horrible and it stays on tune which that alone is kind of hard to believe there are 1000$ guitars that have major tuning issues, solid tuning for 70$ is pretty crazy
The thing is not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to purchase your standard overpriced guitar so $72 is a blessing to at least have an option even if your that broke. Pair it with inexpensive multieffect pedal like cuvave and you're good to go. play the music you like to play. it's not how expensive it is. it's your passion. started with $80 guitar. still kept it to date even though I got better one.
Glarry strikes again. Despite being a no name, this is definitely the Glarry Burning Fire. I only had one bass from Glarry and had similar complaints as you. Neck was too beefy and unfinished, horrible access to truss rod screw (like it was misaligned), impossible to lower the action, sharp fret ends and my biggest gripe was the weight. It was WAY too light. Had it for about a year and just used it at home but I absolutely do not miss it now that it is gone.
I still have my Glarry Bass in that ESP Body shape but on the unpainted version and as a cheap bass it's actually good and didn't have to do much of a setup it surprisingly stays in tune as well. I guess I got lucky with mine and mine actually has the Glarry on the headstock
@@IronDeath.Official I have the Glarry P-Bass and it plays and sounds great! It didn't need any adjustments at all and even the strings are great. For $100 USD it was well worth it, plus l rarely see any lower end instruments in cool colours, like yellow!
Alternatives to get the stuck string out: 1. Put it in a vice and use a small hammer and nail to knock it out. 2. Loop the string around through the same holes and give it a good tug from the other side. 3. Use a pair of needlenose pliers to crush the ball and pull it out. The second method is what I do when changing strings if the ball part didn't fall out, since I don't want to bother opening the cavity. I slip it through and it normally falls out or at least gets close enough for tweezers or a magnet to finish the job.
Yeah, I like it more me too. And the look 3 times better, hahha! But I commented that I don't liked the smash part and he cancel my comment. Go figure it! .
I got a Glarry Ibanez RG copy a year or two ago. I ordered a bright yellow one, but I received the same color as you did. I think it could be decent, but the neck feels nothing like an Ibanez and the tuners are crap. It does not stay in tune at all. I am considering sanding down the neck to Wizard specks and updating the tuning machines and the bridge, but I don't know if ti's worth it.
If you like tinkering and messing with stuff, then more power to you. Personally, the amount of effort to get a lot of these guitars playable, not even comfortable, is not worth it IMO. You can get a Jackson JS11 for like 159 and it destroys other budget guitars.
@@TaylorDanley That makes sense. I go from wanting to tinker with stuff to not wanting to bother. Fortunately, this thing was less than $100 so I don’t feel obligated to make it work. These videos prove that the guitar itself isn’t nearly as important as the amplifier that you use when it comes to achieving quality professional sound.
Often I see mediocre guitarist who really couldn't expect to pay rent or buy groceries with their guitar ability but for some unknown reason own a wall of amplifiers built for playing very large stages and arena size shows. Are they delusional? Are they just collectors? Are they Stevie Wonder with a room full of telescopes? Someone fill me in on why this young man has a room full of rather large stadium type amps. Does he play big shows? Why all the big amps? Not a criticism, just curious.
I ordered a guitar off of wish, it looked like it was a Jackson PC knock-off. I raised the action, after putting some "slinky's" strings on it and a tune. I liked how it handled. I did another string change with heavier slinky strings after swapping the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan. I play the grinder style of metal and it was a good guitar, still is. I paid what ? a discounted $69 ?. It was at my door in days. I ordered a BCRich knock-off and did the same. They're ok guitars, just needs a lil work. For metal, they're ok.
They come from the same stock. Temu/Aliexpress/DHGate/Wish are just English versions of Taobao which is essentially the same but Chinese only and the people selling on there are either from the factories where things are made or buy the products from those factories.

my first guitar cost about $80,the higher frets are out of tune, the neck tilted forward after 2 years, pickup switch is upside down, and it's basically unusable on bigger amps...feedback like crazy soon as I plugged it in.
Wow! I got what looks like the same guitar from Aliexpress, but it doesn't have the finishing problems yours does. Everything nice and smooth, fret ends polished nicely, and I can't find a flaw on it visually at all! The fretboard is even oiled. Maybe same 'moulds' (digitally), different factory. Mine has the brand name DJTXZ on the headstock, so maybe quality control came in to play and the unbranded ones are the rejects, but mine has none of the issues yours has at all.
Well i bought an almost unused glarry guitar from a second hand shop here in the UK,cost me £30! Tele style '59 black single scratch plate and a sunburst finish. Not a mark on it,so the reason was to hone my skills at neck work, levelling, crowning and polishing, and general set up. The fun bit, plays like a dream, lovely action and clear clean notes and although a chunky neck feels good even against my strat which is quite slim compared to the glarry. My point being, someone could have soent hours learning how to work on a guitar without the fear if dumping a few hundred on something playable only to get it wrong and bugger it up. I enjoyed my time working on the cheapy, and the time spent was worth it cos i got a Dean guitar with a 10mm action and a truss rod wound so tight i had to put pressure on the neck to ease it loose so it didnt strip(thanks stewmac!)and that guitar after a lot of work is also playing fine although does require a fret level and dress but ive held off for a few minths due to the severity of the neck,so its getting played and settling nicely and in a month or so I'll remove the neck for final finishing. Most if the work would have been far more stressful without the glarry to practice on! Ive played some shit you wouldnt waste a gallon of fuel on for a campfire, but i still enjoyed making a noise with them!
My guess is these are just thrown together, no attention to the details. You might get lucky and get one without bridge/trem issues, with pickups wired completely in phase. To manage that, since there is no showroom to try them out in, would be the luck of the draw. (No telling how many you'd have to go through even in the showroom to find a overall good and recommendable one.} You obviously didn't get the worst of the lot, but did get one that wasn't even close to being cherry-picked to impress either.
It's the neck find the spot where the strings are inline with the neck then glue the neck .. I do it all the time to guitars where the neck pocket isn't tight
Great vid! I was surprised that sounds came out of it and that it held tune for any length of time. Epic smash, too, haha. I don't understand why these ultra-cheap guitars always try to go with crazy pickup and bridge arrangements... You'd think somewhere one of these companies would slap a single pickup, volume, and wraparound tailpiece on something like this and make a totally usable instrument at this price out of it.
It was a lot of effort to get it there, but yeah I was surprised also! You'd think they wouldn't stretch that tiny budget so thin, but what do I know 🤷♂️
My current guitar was built with separate wish parts and honestly it’s to this day my fav guitar, certainly doesn’t play like a shop guitar but I love the tones it produces
I bought the 5 string bass version of this from Amazon. It’s was $59 + $20 shipping so $79. It’s everything you said about this, but actually playable. I bought the bass as something to noodle on while I waited for my custom signature bass from Black Smoker (Japan). It holds tuning great and the intonation was damn close to dead on. Action was fine out of the box. The negatives were it was LIGHT and headstock heavy. 16th fret was high and buzzed at 17. Other than that, it’s the perfect trash bass for DGAF sessions or just because. I actually reviewed in my unboxing video for my signature bass.
As soon as you said Basswood body, I shuddered! Basswood is the cheapest of cheap wood that they make kids wood model and lollypop sticks from. The fibres are so light and far apart, it's just barely a solid structure. Good luck getting any sustain or decent tone out of it!!
I got mine about a year ago and it’s fine for home practice. I’m a piano player and just wanted to add some chugs to my noodling. Recently replaced it with a $100 8-string. Yay!
@@TaylorDanley I really wish you could review this brand called Quincy. It might be interesting for you as there’s nothing that cheap in the 8-string realm, not even close. I don’t know how to fix this and honestly, bridge pickup alone does the job for my 00-1 chugs haha. The problem is, I can’t find anything about this brand or this particular guitar on the internet 😅
Hey! As someone who's been playing for a while now but still don't have a "great" guitar what would you recommend for about 500$ maybe? I love playing heavy metal and metalcore
It was a better guitar than I would assume, but the question is if it could be practical to a student on a budget, judging by Brazilian prices, the setup would be as costly as the guitar, and if you are unlucky, chances are you would have to buy parts making it even more costly.
Sorry for my comment..sir taylor their no to destroy the instrument..even if that guitar is cheapest in the world..instead of destroying it why dont you donate it to someone wants to learn..the guitar my apology..i just can't do it to an instrument either i bought it cheap or low price..if im not satisfy of it..i will donate it instead destroy it..😮
Give someone a shitty guitar with a bridge that is off center, a neck that feels like shit, bad fret ends and more then likely intonation problems that will never go away will discourage someone from playing. If a beginner has to fight an instrument they are more then likely to drop the instrument. Sometimes an instrument isn’t worth saving 🤷♂️
My first guitar was a $60 Harmony sears catalog special. It was the perfect starting guitar in the same way that most people back then when they got their first car was 99% of the time a real cheap piece of crap new or used and for a great reason you are going to seriously mess it up because you did not know what you were doing and you knew that it will be an experiment. But the love for that first car and first guitar would stay with you as you would upgrade parts for better parts and you would fix it up as you went along. At the end of a 2 decade span that cheap 80s Torino that you got with no bells or whistles below stock (and the old harmony guitar) soon went into the garage and began to be cleaned and new parts were fabricated and some old parts were bored out and new details were put on them and new paint and suddenly that old piece of crap was now one of the best sounding and handling even over the newer named brand cars/guitars.

Womp womp bro
i totally agree man
I'm sure this is probably a Glarry reject. Didn't pass their QC or something..
The thing is, you can get pretty decend guitars for less than 100 bucks, for example from Harley Benton at Thomann
There are so many decent, solid budget guitars around now for $150 or even less. This one structurally seems questionable, though.
There are. There's one really good one I'm going to feature here soon.
Proof that pickups don't have to cost a thousand dollars
But amps sure do...
@@Matthew750-4 Sir, that is a boss katana. do u know how much those cost?
It's shocked, decent sound & looks for $70 beginner guitar
Doesn't look and sound decent now, as the twat smashed it!!
No eyes protection ... come on Taylor.
Sorry boss.
Came here to say this. Cool vid up to that point. New subscriber.
Let me know how your journey goes!! Importing a Harley Benton is worth it :))

Some people can't afford even a $50 guitar, and would love to have one or give to their kid. In many interviews of famous guitarists, they tell how their parents got them a cheap first guitar, how they've progressed in music, and now have their own signature models. Everything is better than breaking the guitar.
I couldn't agree more😢😢
True. This could have been fixed up for a student with no funds to play.
I have this guitar. New strings and a setup made it playable. Great for beginners.
beginners can't do a setup themselves, and paying to have it done would cost more than the guitar itself. If you wanna but something like this and set it up to gift it to a person, it's probably fine, but for the average person looking at a budget instrument there are much better options for just a little more money.

@@TaylorDanley i can't help but read this in a Boston accent
"So as you can see, the Wish Guitar is an extremely smashable guitar." I'll do take note of that. Lol.

It doesn't matter if you have a great amp or axe fx you could play anything at any price point and get a good sound every guitar is made cnc now
Tbh I think the thing is fairy impressive for 70$ it doesn't sound horrible and it stays on tune which that alone is kind of hard to believe there are 1000$ guitars that have major tuning issues, solid tuning for 70$ is pretty crazy
I agree it probably is a Glarry reject.
@@IronDeath.Official I have the Glarry P-Bass and it plays and sounds great! It didn't need any adjustments at all and even the strings are great. For $100 USD it was well worth it, plus l rarely see any lower end instruments in cool colours, like yellow!

Pro tip: a large paper clip unwound and the create a small crochet hook on the end is one of the most useful primitive tools known to mankind
Instead of smash it , give it to me i can't get that even 😂
Alternatives to get the stuck string out:
I’d never trust a guitar that the manufacturer didn’t brand.
The cheap guitar sounded just as good as your other guitar. Maybe better, there was more note separation.

Believe it or not I got the same one. Mine had no issues. I have a buddy whose dad's a luthier and had him check it out. Nothing was really that bad besides the frets. the difference in price between something like an Ibanez gio, or say a squire sonic or affinity is 100% worth it. These videos prove that the guitar itself isn’t nearly as important as the amplifier that you use when it comes to achieving quality professional sound.

I have a similar guitar ... which cost me 45 dollar... and it does what should do and I pick it up more than my Ibanez Gio

You should have kept the electronics. That thing sounded great You could have put them Another guitar.

I actually reviewed in my unboxing video for my signature bass.
what is the link to this guitar on amazon? (amazon for europe)
It should be your "touring guitar" because you won't cry as much if the luggage handlers are rough with it.
Yay!

Jackson line would be my go to. I'm just consistently impressed by the quality... but also, I LIKE that aesthetic so I'm biased.
It was a better guitar than I would assume, but the question is if it could be practical to a student on a budget, judging by Brazilian prices, the setup would be as costly as the guitar, and if you are unlucky, chances are you would have to buy parts making it even more costly.
Imagine eric Clapton playing this guitar with heavy eye liners
You could've donated it to someone who couldn't even afford one of these
Yes! Disrespectful to guitars as an instrument, and wasteful!!
just silly and show off, lets call it childish.

Why you didnt gifted it to somebody poor? Only you rich, spoiled westerns can break a guitar which could be to somebody the best one.
I made this mistake on temu,a white verson of the same guitar, but I can't get it to stay in tune
I had the same problem with the input jack on my black Glarry burning fire. The red burning fire not made by Glarry was fine no issues at all.
If I bought this guitar, I would change out the bridge and the tuners and replace them with a Hipshot bridge/ wammy bar and Grover lock tuners.
Disappointed you actually smashed the guitar, thought you were just going to pretend to, then not do it! I don't 'do' guitar smashing, however cheap the model. Have too much respect for musical instruments.
