I like your idea about keeping track of empty spaces and watching for signs of new businesses moving into them and the tool I'm going to use is Yelp. I've already created Collections in Yelp based on areas and types of businesses, so now I will create a new Collection called Empty Business Spaces to watch. Then add a note when I visit and/or see a change in status!
