To me, StarFox, being one of the few canon series from Nintendo, the story will always be a selling point. I've always dream of a "StarFox: Genesis", where you can play as the original SF team: James, Peppy, and Pigma. Getting to see the events untill its downfall, and how Fox reformed the team, ending with the beginning of the Lylat Wars, Rogue One style.

The thought of an open world StarFox game is honestly a great idea, it would make StarFox feel like more of a world and an actual place for us, the player, to explore. Allowing the fan base to see the entirety of StarFox and how the team operates, upgrading and moving up making the player feel like he is progressing his team further. Maybe even giving us a few scares on the planet Aqua as we freely explore the planet's depths, maybe even make a mission where we explore a sunken ship. Perhaps the whole hiring of different characters could open up more upgrades or changing the ending depending on who you saved or hired. The possibilities for a StarFox Mercenary game really are endless.
I think that it would be pretty cool to have a StarFox game that wouldn't necessarily be us following Fox or at least not as heavily as the other games. I'd like to see a game that's more so of a prequel, allowing us to follow the stories of all the other members of StarFox like Slippy, Falco, Peppy, hell even Wolf would be a neat character for a StarFox game to delve into, showing us a different team entirely. It would even be cool to see Krystal and how her planet got destroyed, her life before going to Dinosaur planet. By the end of the game, they could give us an ending that's pretty much the beginning of the older games. It's just a thought though.

An immersive game would pair well with the story idea I had:
A 'civil war' between Venom's new government under Dash Bowman and a massive rebel military force under Andrew Oikonny, with the entire Lylat System caught in the middle.
Star Fox gets involved at first by beating back the enemy armies from Corneria, but end up responding to different threats in different locations.
I think it would work well with an exploration angle like what Starlink had.

To add an idea about your starfox mercenary pitch.
Why not add a feature where you can train new members by playing as them or have the game go through a in game time clock. Hiring other pilots, bounty hunters if you have a good reputation with that person or certain section of a planet.
You can send those trusted/trained pilots to go and tackle the missions themselves but it varies on levels and you can permanently lose these allies if you send them to the wrong battle.
I've always loved the starfox series ever since I got my mits on it back in 1995 but being a fan has never been easy because of constant remakes/reboots and sequels that have divided the fanbase.
Adventures is a console technical achievement with amazing fur effects at the time, a decent zelda clone. But the babysitting, half of the voice delivery and other things have soured the experience for most people.
I still really bloody love SF Assault, it advances the lore, adds more characters (thank god it gets rid of pigma. never been a fan of him), having a unique alien race the aparoids is a nice addition, the local multiplayer is tons of fucking fun and you can tell the Namco staff had alot of fun making these maps, there is so much attentiont to detail for a old gamecube game that it makes me wish I get to read more lore on the culture of some planets or witness some actual events going on with other aliens or civilians.
I'm not very good at command, in fact I suck ass at Metroid Hunters, the controls made me give up after I got the first ending in the game, so I just youtubed the entire game and it's one of the weakest games but I've always liked the many weird ways the plot goes depending on what you do.
Zero, it played fine for me but it did feel pretty dull going through the same first chapter of the starfox game story. I did like the control style it is pretty unique but... I tried getting my buds to play this and they didn't like it. They gave up super fast cus of the controls.

Great idea, that's exactly what I had in mind, Nintendo should try to improve and expand the other franchises like Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and the other series, I mean when was the last time you heard about those games? Star Fox could be a golden opportunity for Nintendo to try something new instead of just giving them another game, why not give them their own show, I mean there are tons of SciFi and anthropomorphitic animals shows, comics, and movies over the years, so it is possible to create a Star Fox show. I was thinking of improving their character designs, personality, give them their own origins, as well as giving them character development as the story goes on, and rewrite the story like in Star Fox Adventures. I wouldn't make Krystal be a damsel in distress when she was trapped in a magic crystal until Fox saves her at the end of the game, I was thinking to make her the main character in the story when she meets Fox for the first time, but she didn't like him at first because he was a stranger on her second home planet and tried to kill him because of misunderstanding, then they work things out, and decided to work together to accomplish their goals while also getting to know each other more.

I've thought a lot about how Nintendo could revisit Star Fox. Star Fox is a mercenary crew, so there should be some level of logistics. Upgrades and stuff for the Arwing, Landmaster, and even the great fox would be awesome, and of course hiring new recruits as well. Certain recruits should be better at certain things than others.
You'd pick up quests from General Pepper or who ever else. Just like you say in your idea, some of them could be on-rail or all range mode. To keep it in Star Fox fashion, you should still get cool rewards for completing missions in a certain way. Imagine this.
You pick up a mission, it's to help Bill and his squad out. You help them out but in keeping as many of his squad from being shot down as possible, he will owe you a favor. From then on any mission you begin will give you the option to call for Bill's help. You finally pick up a mission that you think will be a bit difficult, and from the beginning of the mission you fly in just like always, but this time Bill and his whole squad is there to help in all range mode. If it's a rail mission then maybe his people will swoop in and out randomly to take out bad guys. Sick!
There could still be foot missions too, and if you don't like foot missions, you should be able to employ Slippy and Falco to do it for you, at the cost of them not doing it as well as if you did it your self, or maybe they take more of your earnings to do it, while you still fight the Arwing fight.
I also imagine an off shoot mode where you fight for control of the map with the cornerian army vs andross or the aparoids or whatever else they want to put. Very reminiscent of 2005 Star Wars Battle Front 2's Galactic Conquest mode, but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself there lol.

It would be great if they made a new Star Fox game similar to the one you described. Hopefully they at least port all the previous games to the switch.
My ideal Star Fox game would be one similar to your idea but with the on foot section from Assault but revamped. The way I would do this would be make it like a mix between Halo and Battle Front 2 (the good one not EA’s abortion). You would be able to do stuff from Halo like duel wielding, using equipment, melee, pick up turrets, and projectile weapons would do damage to armor and health, while energy weapons would do damage to shields. The influences from Battle Front 2 would be the ability to either destroy a ship by taking out chunks from the outside or being inside and destroying vital systems then getting out. There would also be ground and air vehicles in addition to yours you could hijack. Different characters would have different strengths and weaknesses like speed, health, and other things. They would also include the different vehicle transformations from the different games. There would also be a set of power armor that’s used in hazardous areas and augments you.
It’s really sad that Nintendo basically killed Star Fox due to shear incompetence. Maybe the future will be in fangames like Star Fox Event Horizon made by UndyingNephilim and this Star Fox Adventures remake made by Esphirian (ruclips.net/video/JGEGPeO_RX0/видео.html). I really hope Nintendo doesn’t murder those two games.
It makes me mad that Nintendo butchered Krystal’s character to pander to the Krystal hating audience in Japan. The reason they hate her is because she wasn’t made in Japan which is one of the dumbest reasons to not like a character. That game should not have been the ending to the n64 continuity (we don’t even know which ending is the real one).
Star Fox Zero was fun but the motion controls are pretty jarring if you pick up the controller after having not played in a while. It’s disappointing how they just rehashed the same story from 64.

While Star Fox 2, Assault, and Starlink are any of the blueprints I'd like for them to go. With old characters coming back, modern gameplay, a new mission, and online multiplayer. I wonder if a remake of a previous game might be the route the best bet at this point so late of the Switches life cycle. Not SF64, they did that twice kinda, and neither time stuck. The second time with Zero blew it. I'd vote for Assault or Star Fox 2. I'd say 2021 because of the 5 year pattern or 2023 because the 30th anniversary. That being said I like this idea too which seems to have Starlink and Star Fox 2 in mind.

  • @nsgames24

I still say Nintendo should bring StarFox Zero over to Switch and give it normal controls. I'm not saying this because I'm one of the very few folks, out there that actually liked the game, but I think Nintendo can use it basically as a way for folks who aren't familiar with Nintendo's franchises and were introduced to a few of them in Smash. The story is simple enough for newcomers to understand and it covers the Lylat System pretty well.
Something that I think that would be pretty neat to see down the line is if they decide to do a prequel for the entire series, focusing on the events of James McCloud, the father of Fox McCloud. I just think that would be pretty cool to see, you know? Maybe getting a deeper understanding of why Andross is the way he is, getting to see Corenia before its present state, etc.
After that, Nintendo should do a "StarFox Mercenary" either in-house or better yet with Ubisoft since they're close with the Big N and despite the mixed reception that Starlink got, they did pay attention to the lore of the series, some of which Nintendo didn't even touch on with past games (but I still don't understand why Ubisoft just didn't make it a Switch exclusive because of the StarFox stuff in the Switch version)

Being able to explore planets, get out on foot, and of course, on rails and "all range mode" flight missions. The Star Fox team would have expanded and hired more people, slowly growing into an army that freelances to the usual employer. You can manage people and resources, and this could mean that there is a steady feed of missions to enjoy.

Depending on the world will determine the vehicles available to explore in. There should also be a few hub areas to explore on foot.

I would like a Star Fox game that is open world I think that if Nintendo made it similar to Breath if the Wild where Fox can explore planets outside of his Arwing and walk around on the surface and maybe bring back some of the older planets that were in the other games like dinosaur planet I think that would be cool and it might bring Star Fox popularity back.

Oh and a prequel with original star fox crew would be sick! Young peppy action. Pigma betraying them at the end. Some good backstory lore is needed desperately for the series. Too much potential to not explore stuff like that.

ok, so i feel like this would put some people off. Personally what I'd like to see is a game that's a continuation of Assault's gameplay. The main mode would involve a two part story where you create a character to be the newest member of either Star Fox or Star Wolf. As you progress you could level up your stats that would unlock more things you could do (like unlocking flight maneuvers when you put points in the piloting skill). The main story would involve the events from your chosen team's perspective as well as run in's with the opposing team. But the true ending would unlock after completing both sides of the story, like what Sonic Adventure 2 did. I think the Create-a-Character thing could also translate into online multiplayer.

still love bayonetta 2's easter egg being what got platinum games to work on star fox zero.(meaning fox mcloud has the sexy umbran witch to somewhat partly thank for his renewal.:3)
for the next star fox would love a mix of assault(with improved control) & 2 letting you fully explore planets with multiple playable characters(that you could recruit in mission/sidequest like 2's characters including the scrapped ones or even new characters.) alongside on rails arwing mode making the plot about star wolf using andross's portal technology(starlink did feel like it was showing wolf's individual threat/showing assault's plot point of andrew & pigma leaving in zero.) while fox has a personal arc looking for his father(since he's alive in zero just in another dimension like snes.) and bringing krystal back(since they do have interest in bringing her back just do more with her psychic abilities/not have her replace peppy.)/maybe bringing the aparoids as ancient machines from venom's ruins that andross experimented on unleashing after his death.

Starlink had some potential, and I played it through to basically 100%, but to have that type of open solar system come back, I would really like for it to have alot more depth to it. There needs to be actual locations to visit, like cities or special landmarks. Give the player a bit more of a stragetic system to employ defense systems and build up resources, Starlink sort of did that, but it didn't make alot of difference what you built or where, give the player the ability to dispatch allies and hire defense forces. Starfox 2 showed they wanted to do somethingl ike that, but in star fox 2, there is like 5 little locations that are as simple as push a button and blow thing up, or dog fight sections that lasted all of 10 seconds. Little short activities can be sufficient if there is something else backing them up in between them. There is actually just so much that can be done in that regard, and it's something nintendo has shown they are interested in trying or have been in the past.
I do like the idea of mixing in classic levels in the open world. Why not mix both game types, such as there could be a normal campaign mode and a sort of Conquest mode that would be a war for the Lylat system kidna how Dynasty Warrior Conquest games have. Idk just throwing ideas out there. or lean out of the strategy elements and more into a Mercanaries direction, and make it like a Bethesda style open world game with space ships and dog fighting, but where your actions and who you side with can determine the outcome of the story.

When it comes to a new starfox game I like the bases of Star Fox M.
Being able to play as other characters, pilot other ships, exploring planets both in a vertical and on foot. Of course on rails and dogfighting being done with racing as something to do on the side.
Didn't touch story but with an open world we can not only explore and learn more about the planets but also the characters. Starlink and Assault had added layers to there characters with unique dialog but do to Assaults short run time and starlink not being a starfox game Didn't have enough time to go deeper and look at other characters.
Imagine a series of side missions offered by various characters. For example you can talk to Bill who could be found on corneria, Katina, or on the great fox and he'll offer a series of missions dubbed "Bull Dog Missions". You'll join Bill on missions throughout lylat that are dogfighting centric (for obvious reasons). After completing them you are rewarded the ability to play as Bill along with his ship.

  • @johnboy4025
    @johnboy4025 3 года назад +1

My idea is VERY similar to yours. Great Fox and Corneria would be hubs/safe havens. There would be a system like Mass Effect where you have “paragon” and “renegade” options to mold Fox as you like. You can explore planets as well as do missions on them (like you stated) and you can have a love interest for Fox (Krystal, Fay, come to mind). Also, have more of a story line for Star Wolf. I like “A Fox in Space” and their take on Fara Phoenix who is Wolf’s girlfriend (she was Fox’s love interest in the Nintendo Power Comic from 1993). And then Venom... make it like the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2. But every so often have a mission that lets you quietly explore Venom before your fight with Andross... who I think needs to be like he is portrayed in “A Fox in Space”.

    • @sboinkthelegday3892
      @sboinkthelegday3892 3 года назад

The game idea is good, I had it too, but it still is just shoehorning in the arcadey Star Fox formula that nobbody seems capable of bringing beyong the mastery in 64.
Rather than Star Fox, I would evolve Starlink into an F-Zero game. Start with a full F-Zero GX system that in the lore is jsut a computer simulation, and a level editor. Then you can spend win earnings from those races to drop onto Starlink planets, and like missions on Monster Hunter or Death Stranding you will build those racetracks on perilous planets according to the plans in level editor.
The idea is that racing is illegal, and when you go planetside your main goal is to do repetitive tasks farming armor and crafting options. These behaviours will be aggregated among all players, and used as the basis of actual canon new set of some 60ish new F-Zero characters, kinda the same way Kojima games aggregated nuclear disarmament or terrain development. If a thousand people all dress up as Boba Fett and go around wreaking havoc, chances are that the game recognizes the combination of Boba Fett armor as "the correct" use of that equoipment and the character as a havoc wreaker. This will circulate in the game world as the rumored identity of that character.
Then at regular "splatfests", devs can release hype trailers and character reveals and this whole WWF-style face-heel dynamic and cutscenes, all based on actual popular ways people have played the game. It could be hype on the level of smash reveals.

The game idea I had was one that stared Fox's (and Krystal's) son, Marcus McCloud and his new Star Fox team in Star Fox GT. The game would involve playing though multiple missions on different planets, and possibly as different characters. Wolf also had a son named Vermilion O'Donnel who formed his own Star Wolf trio that Marcus would come across. The big bad of the game is a criminal organization that consists of a race of humanoid-cyborg like aliens that threaten to exterminate all life throughout the Lylat system and make it their own empire. The gameplay would involve using different vehicles in certain missions, mostly the arwing, with some Landmaster and Blue Marine and On-foot missions. Marcus and his new Starfox team defeat the evil organization and save not only the Lylat System, but the galaxy as well. I might write more lore on somewhere like Wattapad sometime.

Bill, Katt, Amanda, Lucy and Dash gonna returned
Marcus (Fox and Krystal's son) gonna appears and he gonna have two little sisters (a young girl and a baby)
Andrew decided to go back on the StarWolf team
Wolf gonna revived Pigma as a cyborg and he gonna rehired him
Andross returned since he was the main antagonist of StarFox

I would make a prequel, where you play as Ace Vulpes, a new recruit to the Star Fox Team, when it was James McCloud in command.
You’d fly alongside Peppy, James, and Pigma as they are hired to tackle a group of space pirates terrorizing the people of the Lylat System… ultimately pursuing them to the barren planet, Venom, where a scientist has coincidentally been exiled.
The story would show Pigma betraying the team, leaving the other 3 at the mercy of the Pirate leader and his benefactor… Andross.
James and Ace perish creating a diversion, buying Peppy enough time to escape and warn the Cornerian army about Andross building up a massive invasion force.
You’d then play as Peppy when escaping Venom, and in the epilogue taking place during the Lylat War (when Fox, Slippy, and Falco comprise the team with Peppy)… after defending Corneria, Peppy breaks formation when he sees the Pirate leader, now one of Andross’ generals, and endeavors to avenge Ace by taking him down once and for all.

This idea is pretty much exactly what i pictured the next Star Fox game looking like (only less Ubisoft reuse of assets and repetitive missions). The one thing i would add would be additional on foot sections. Similar to the on rail sections you travel to specific area's to undergo these quests. I imagine these sections playing like Zelda meets Mass Effect, where Fox can freely swap between using a blaster for ranged combat or a staff (like in Adventures) for close quarters melee combat. Unfortunately the big thing I see holding these expansive Star Fox games from happening is that it would be an expensive endevour. If ever there was a time to make it happen it's now since the Switch is insanely popular.
