The story of the composer saddens me... out of all the Star Fox OSTs, I still love the original the most :'c
Ben S agreed! Would love to know the source on that, this is the first time I’ve heard about it.
Me too, I love the ost from the original game, not the others.
I agree the original OST is far superior to the sequels in every way.
I love these videos so much, please don't stop making these.
Mighty Kitten is right, keep making these videos
These videos are great
Agree! Great Video!

My head explodes thinking about all the time you must put into the 3D bits!!!
yeah. Looks amazing. Kinda wish there was more of it. Like a soundtrack visualization of each level with these CGI sequences. Or maybe a "remastered" version for the Switch if Nintendo would consider doing such a release that would come with both the original game and a HD version with the same visual style. Heck, a whole series of such a "Super FX Tribute" game release series would be great. Or maybe all on one cartridge.
Can't wait until they combine this game with the SuperRT chip.
StarFo(RT)x
You mean the 3d shots of the video that reassembles Starfox?
It's a 30 mins work these days
@@neatpolygons8500 Suggest you get your bloody eyes fixed. Most of the video contains 3D effects, models and animation.
Hirasawa's compositions are incredible and that is really a shame we never got to hear more from him. I'm glad his music still gets love from NIntendo in the smash bros. games. I'll never forget the first time I heard the Corneria stage from Melee as a kid - blew me away.
It's a damn shame Hirasawa never compoesd any games after this. If he had gone on to make more he would easily be as reputed a name as Kondo, Wise or Uematsu.
He didn't do SF2?
@@symphomaniac Star Fox 2 was all Kozue Ishikawa and Yumiko Kanki. They just used the same soundfont as the first game.
Indeed. Always a shame to hear when a talented composer doesn't get their proper dues or is restricted in some way.
@@PsychoJosh lol I like how you changed it from Koji Kondo.
Anyway that's impressive. The ost in SF2 sounds very similar, composition-wise
This explains why there has not been an official arranged OST. All other Nintendo franchises at some point have received an arranged/orchestral treatment. I’ve always been of the opinion that Star Fox has the best music in the entire series.
Good old Argonaut. One of those developers that never quite got the praise and recognition that they truly deserve.
Kind of like Strafefox.
They deserve just as much praise as Rare
Let's go, your videos are so unique, in the sense that they are very asthetically pleasing, can't wait for the next.
The quality of your videos is phenomenal. Your animations set a new bar in creativity. We need to get you a million subscribers. I can’t wait to see your next video.
You deserve a bigger audience, dude. The work on display here is fantastic!
It is true, his content and research are awesome. Watching from Brazil
Fantastic video! The quality on this channel is always so consistent 👏🏻
Seriously, this is production quality I would expect on a large TV network or cable. And it’s not just techically impressive, I can tell it has your heart in it, like you really care about these games and think it’s so exciting to tell us about how they were made.
How in the f do you not have hundreds of thousands of subscribers? Well, you got me now and I’ll make sure to point my friends your way.
I would buy a remake of the original in the style you've done in this video. I would buy it IMMEDIATELY.
I've never been one to care too much about the technical nitty-gritty of software development, but it blows my mind seeing how Star Fox was made. So much went into this title that I really think it deserves more credit than it gets. Everyone loves Star Fox 64, but from a technical perspective, the original is just more interesting and impressive.
Great video, as always. Can't wait to see the next one!
This series is definitely the best put together on RUclips. Keep it up! Even if the algorithm doesn't show you off as much as is should!
Great video as always. Genuinely deserves much more publicity!
Can we just appreciate how he fully subtitles all of his videos? Amazing work!!!
Starfox 1 is still my favorite out of the games
same here
Agreed my favourite game of all time
Absolutely, the first starfox is the best in my opinion, it sounded more military and the soundtrack in this game is phenomenal! The way it changes the music and the sounds when facing a boss is incredible . The gameplay is stunning, I consider it a masterpiece!!!

Dr. Grant : Say that again...
Hammond : Weve got a Splash Wave video about StarFox...
A true landmark game. Nothing on competing systems could make jaws hit the floor the same way Starfox did. Thanks for the stellar video!
@james cowboy where did you learn to fly?
All the videos are so polished. One of my favorite channels ever.
I hate the wait for your videos, but then I just love it when released and think "worth it", keep up the good work, truly enjoy them
I love it to wait :) More Waiting -> Better Video !
Just look at all those other gaming channels. They spam out totaly garbage, or copy topics (one blog/website post something, then some guy make a video about it, then 39394 other channels use the same topic within 24Hours, without adding anything new to it) from others in a cheap way, just to keep the $ rolling !
There are just 2 youtubers that are really honest guys, who create quality, give a shit about quantity.
Strafefox & Ahoy
There are from the old days from the Internet, where moneytizing was not the biggest priority, the biggest priority was to share, make people happy and to get applause for the hard work :)
@strafefox
As always, very good Work. Thanks for your time and hard work to entertain us old retro game freaks :)
@@REALSlutHunter Agree, still I don't like the waiting) but I understand this level of video production and scripting it is truly enjoyable and unique and can't be crafted from one week to another, I have read and heard about videogames like StarFox and others seen here with Strafefox, but again his narrative and video quality is top notch and a diamond between in a pile of generic yt channels
What an amazing video. 3d art, good audio and video edit, good research and narration. Everyone should learn from you. Kudos.
You deserve at least 10x the amount of subs you currently have, can't wait for the next one!
Amazing work, as usual!
Starfox was easily my favorite game for a long time as a child.. And to this day it holds a very special place in my heart.
It was a life changing experience.
This is what I'm talking about. This for me, is better than watching the pkmn direct this morning. No cheese. Love this channel.
Your production quality is simply mind blowing. Thanks for making great videos.
I remember playing this at a Kiosk in 93. I was blown away. Played the hell out of it on Christmas day that year.
Professional tier presentation. Excellent work!
This makes me want a 60FPS Star Fox so badly. Really nice work, subscribed!
It's christmas in June buddy !

@@outsidercain3038 NICE, think I'll give this a try after work!
Your editing and use of motion graphics is absolutely unmatched by any other content creator.
These videos are at such a high quality, I'm surprised they haven't been snapped up by some documentary channel. This is a history lesson that should be enjoyed by everyone
Screw RUclips with there quantity over quality algorithms. This channel should have a million subs by now
This is so well made. This video deserves one million views.
Whoa... I never realized how much I'd love a modern remake of the original Star Fox before now... those little transitional graphics you put into the video look amazing! I'd love to play the exact same game, just with higher resolution models XD
Amazing as usual. Love the Starfox history.
Fantastic documentary. First game I ever played as a kid and it had a really lasting effect on me. I've always said that in 1992, a combination of 8-bit micro trained British programmers with their dedication to pushing technical limits; and Japanese game designers with their creativity and attention to detail was the ultimate dream team!
The Star Fox games one of my favorites during my childhood.
The amount of unique 3D assets is incredible with these videos. It's so rare to see content like this, and I really enjoy it a lot.
I found your channel from the Sonic 3 & Knuckles video in my suggested videos list. I watched all your videos and enjoyed the production quality. My only complaint is that we wait so long between videos! But it's minor considering it takes time to make a quality video. Please keep up the excellent work!
Nice job as always!
How on earth do you only have 65K subscribers? Incoming 1.5M in the next 6 months...
if you switch the nubers around you get 56k
56k modem. lol.
P.s. I agree with you
i always love your 3D presentation skills, but the graphics you made for Starfox were exactly what the game looked like in my head back in 93, when it left me and my best friends speechless for what our SuperNintendos were doing after having enjoyed it for a while. Loved all the facts and data you gathered for this video. Big enhancement for an already great memory of playing this game. Thank you as always for your wonderful videos.
Absolutely incredible, the production value and aesthetic of this is fantastic
5:35 "[...] but getting the feel for the controls right was always a priority to him."
Well, that changed with Starfox Zero. =P
the quality of these videos is absolutely incredible. the quality really can't be understated. these are so good
Great work as always Jeroen! I love the low poly 3D work in this video that you did to match the look of Starfox. Really well done. And of course, I learned so much from this video that I didn't know. These mini documentaries that you do are really amazing and of course, better quality than 99% of the other YT Gaming channels out there. Keep it up!
I'm loving these videos so much, they are so unique, so good detailed, so well done!I think it's a good idea to also make a "The making of Star Fox 2", the sequel! The cancelled sequel has a interesting story, and it also has the FX 2 chip.
A very well detailed backstory, strafefox! Now, you'll want to make a behind-the-scenes video for "Star Fox 2." Please make one, it'd be great... *:D*
STARFOX!! Dang what a beautiful SNES game... so close to beating it on route one, and I have almost all the games in the series! But what really impressed me about the series is the original game.. graphics, characters, story, gameplay, love everything about it, thanks for covering this game!
Not only are these informative, but the production values are off the charts. Good work! I love these.
Those Starfox 1 3d scenes you created should be the next new Starfox ! You are so amazing ! :)
Yet again, these videos are absolutely top quality. The aesthetics, the audio, the script, and the narration just blend together to create videos of high value that you'd see in a museum or on a technical education website. There are truly no other videos like this out there that stand up to the quality of yours.
These videos are always so informative and relaxing to sit back with a coffee and watch.
So glad I clicked on this. Your production quality and graphics are awesome and the history was concise and easy to follow. Fucking amazing work.
Whoa 😳 I'm just now discovering my 1993 WCES Starfox footage made it onto this masterpiece of a documentary ! Another trippy thing about this discovery this video was released on my birthday ! Strafefox, this is such a HUGE honor to be a part of this !
THANK YOU for the credit 👍
Thanks so much! And thank you for uploading such a cool collection of archival footage.
The quality of these is amongst the very best I've stumbled upon - thank you for making these!
wow, these videos are the most unique, ultra-high quality and best content possible. Please never stop. you should have way more people appreciate this. awesome job! Do a PC Engine or NEOGEO one next, can also provide some NEOGEO USA Footage, as we were visiting them in the 90's
the best retrochanell is back and keeps getting better! i would pay to see videos like that more often. congrats!
haven’t even started it yet and i already know im in for some good ass effects and entertaining information
Fantastic quality as always. Almost criminally underappreciated.
Thanks to this video I remembered that I use to make polygonal drawings of ships too after playing star fox :)
Those "in game" animations are astounding. Makes me wish to see what it would be like to have the whole original game done in that form.
I am at the point where i recognize that i can like your video's before it even starts. Great work.
Awesome video! Nice to hear about how the FX chip was born. Just realized that at those Nintendo meetings, Jez San would have been called "San San". lol
That Star Fox sound track was an all time great. Sad that the composer quit working on games.
I just wanna help insist that every video produced for this channel is a spectacle! The visuals are amazing and the sound works really well to compliment that. Thank you so much for creating these videos, they're an absolute pleasure to watch every time!
This is really inspirational. Both the story told in this video and the unreal amount of efforts putted into this video too, nice job! Proud to call you one of my top 5 channels in RUclips!
Thank you for putting together these videos. Seeing how these great games from my childhood were developed is like solving a mystery. Also - never knew Miyamoto was a smoker.
Bonus points to you, sir, for getting the hexadecimal level event types correct. I’m currently documenting the level data and model data over at romhacking.net, so I may be the only person on RUclips that can vouch for your insane accuracy and attention to detail. Truly amazing work.
You are one one of my favorite channels easily. So much work goes into your videos!
I hate how 4:3 is represented in wide-screen. Games didn't look like squares when we played them. They were a bit wider than this in practice.
2:33 I mean compare this.
00:16 to this.
9:13 A great example of why this doesn't work.
So why do we keep presenting SNES games to a modern audience in such a constrained viewport to preserve graphics in a way they were never originally consumed?
Just generally speaking. This video just blew my mind with its quality. It staggers me where you even found the assets. I have to assume you created much of it yourself, which just overwhelms me. It's too good, man. Thanks.
I really enjoyed this video! Thank you so much for sharing! It always amazes me how a video game comes together like that! That was a treat! Thank you again!
If anyone's curious about the orchestrated version of Starfox's theme, it's from the Orchestral Game Concerts performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic in the early to mid 90s. All those albums are pretty fun.
Too bad the composer had this situation with nintendo about the rights of the music, in my opinion he created the Best soundtrack of the series and It would have been great to listen to more of his creations related to this series.
Both the production quality and the content of this video were superb. Great job!
The amount of detail and care that goes into this kind of presentation is baffling. Great work as always!
I always found early 90's attempts at 3D games and pushing the boundaries super interesting. Could listen for hours. And your video is top quality stuff.
I think I've commented on every upload of yours in the past year to praise your production quality. This video has raised the bar once again. I'm both incredibly impressed, and incredibly jealous of how far along your art direction & renders have come in such a short time.
Oh man, it's a shame about the composer, he was ostensibly as talented as Kondo, but with a (much welcomed) different flair reminescent of the Gundam Zeta and Space Runaway Ideon soundtracks.
Well suited to Star Fox.
These videos are so good! Can't wait for the next one!!!
This game was ahead of its time back then. It was really fun. Stunt race was always fun and reminded me of star fox.
Your videos are just so, so damn brilliant! Please keep making them! There is nothing of this quality on all of youtube! You must get these shared further man... They are good enough for historical archive...
How have I not come across this channel sooner? This is rad!
I’m always excited when you guys make a new video and this one definitely takes the cake! Star fox is one of my all time favorite games and this made me appreciate it so much more.
Wow nice! to see more excellent content!
There is a depth and level of care to your videos that is unparalleled.
well done! so cool looking back on these games that i played so long ago and now that i am a software engineer, i can appreciate the work these devs put into this game on such an experimental new platform, (the FX chip)
Outstanding production values, hope there's more to come! Well done!
You always create videos with so much quality, respect and love for the franchise. Thanks a lot guys
Great visuals. I'm glad you make these so special.
Thank you so much for all your work in making this!
Each one of your uploads are incredibly informative and entertaining. I look forward to each and every one.
All of this video was made perfectly, I can't imagine how much time & effort you put into it!
Another masterpiece, thanks for all the hard work you and your crew put into these projects! Cheers!
One of my favourite games. The score was awesome, this would make such a good kids TV show.
The production and narration on these videos is PHENOMENAL.
Seeing one of these videos in my subscriptions is the best. Learning about the development process of these old games is interesting and inspiring as all hell. Also, the presentation is really good. Wish I could support you guys on patreon
Awesome to hear! And don't worry: watching, liking and commenting already helps me a great deal!
Your videos are extremely well produced and now its time for my old time favourite game to shine in one!!! Just awesome!!!!!
Ohhh man I smiled at that notification, another strafefox video! Thanks for making these dude, they are super interesting and so much effort goes into them! Keep this up! ^^
