18:11 RIP the late great Bill Paxton, still sadly missed.
I wasn't expecting Dasha to react to this, but I'm so happy that she did.
Its kind of right up here alley with the classic 80 action... and.. it can hardly be more classic action than this
More reactors need to watch all the classic 80's action films, so glad she did this one.
Hahah same, rad to watch a Ruski female react to hardcore action.
Makes me think masculinity isn't dead.
Another great movie from my childhood ! 👍🇺🇸🇲🇽🇮🇹
I'm more surprised she chose (or per chance perhaps) the director's cut version. Awesome!
Arnold's catch phrase,
"I'll be back." Dasha's catch phrase, "Are you serious?!"❤
And you know? Lol
Easily one of the most quotable movies ever. So many Arnie one liners.
I eat green berets for breakfast
I read the instructions
"I lied..."
@@pollyfree22and right now im very hungry 🤣🤣
Girl "What is all this macho bullshit?" 🤣🤣🤣
Its sort of the first true arnold movie.
yea sure.. there was of cause the conan movies, terminator and a few others before that.
But this was the first movie where he is sort of the typical Arnold character. While yes, similar to the terminator, not quite the same.
I would say Comando, Raw deal, Preditor, running man, while he have different names, he is pretty much the same character. (i´m not sure about kindergarten cop, its kind of similar, but a bit different)
Total recall sort of kind of play into that to. And Last action hero is parodying that
True lies is also pretty much effectively a parody.
Eraser.. again, kind of the same character. 6:th day.. kind of the same.
Collateral damage.. While its a bit more serous, its pretty much the same character still.
I have seen most of the newer arnold movies as well, but they are kind of a blur to me
The epitome of the 80’s movie. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you lose your words like when he ripped out that phone booth! This movie has that effect on everyone. Rae Dawn Chong was such a cutie in the 80’s. She still is.
This is possibly the most Dasha movie ever. Everybody watching is so happy for you to get to their favourite bits - and there are so many to choose from. There are lines and scenes in this that no one else could get away with, there is just something about Arnie's charisma that carries you along. Just a great time all round.
Love the rouges gallery of villains on this one, something for everyone - classic 80s action.
"Don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired" - poor stewardess finding a corpse with a broken neck lol.
Because Arnie is so insanely strong in this movie, Vanessa of the Once Upon a Reaction channel, decided that Matrix had to have been part of a experiment to recreate Captain America's super soldier serum. I like that idea.
that does make a lot of sense.
I was thinkin that most of the 80s arnold movies is the same character, just get new identity after every movie..
I think there was an article that came out that linked terminator and the matrix together… I would have to find it
Fun fact: when the director was going to shoot the scene where Arnie is holding the dude up by his ankle, he just assumed that Arnold would be capable of doing that by himself. Arnold had to explain how that wasn't reasonable. The director, without realizing it, had kind of fallen into the belief that Arnold truly was a superhuman force like the Terminator. You can't pay for that kind of branding
Even if Arnold WAS strong enough to hold up someone with just one hand, it wouldn't be physically possible. The weight of the person's body would cause Arnold to tip over. It's like how a crane needs ballast on the back end to counter-balance the weigh that it's lifting. He would need to be holding onto something solid with his other hand to counter-balance the person's weight (IF he were strong enough).
Stop saying fun fact. And you shared a story, which is a lot more than just a fact.
@@lurkerrekrul Exactly. They eventually got a crane setup when Arnold pointed out it was absolutely bananas to expect him to do an all day shoot holding a 135 lb man up by only his deltoids XD
The phone booth scene seems possible though. The guy was tiny and the hollow phone booth don't weigh much. It's more about the awkwardness than the heaviness. If you can get an object into your center of gravity is what it's all about.
I had totally forgotten that the guy Arnold dropped was the main bad guy in "The Warriors"..........which is another fun watch.
David Patrick Kelly who plays Sully is in a lot of stuff. He's almost always a 2nd-3rd tier character, but he either dies in an iconic way, or says an iconic line. He's always memorable.
Warriors! Come out and play-ay!
He's the "clean-up" guy in the first John Wick movie.
He's best as T-Bird in The Crow!! 🤣😂🤣🤣

Bill Duke, the Green Beret (US Army Special Forces) Cooke, would star as Mac in Predator along side Arnold two years later.
"I bought a Porsche, but I'm too jacked to fit in it" would be one of the greatest brags in the '80s.
Oh dear, when Arnold was taking the boat to ground in his little slip, your eyes opened wide! I almost died seeing your expression.
I highly recommend the Schwarzenegger movies "Twins" and "Kindergarten Cop".
And Last Action Hero. His most underrated Film.
@@paulanerruhrpott6188Raw Deal, Red Heat, Eraser, End of Days and 6th Day as well.
Twins is such an underrated film.
We need to see a reaction to it.
Arnold struggled to make any bad movies during his prime. He was on an insane roll
@@Grizzlox Red Sonja was considered a bad movie.
I keep saying it,. Commando is not an 80's action movie, it is THE 80's action movie.
"I'll Be Back" was an Arnie catch phrase started with "The Terminator." It caught on, so many of his fans wanted him to say it in any movie he starred in.
In the 1970's, there was a TV comedy series (The Odd Couple?) where a classical musician tells his acquaintances as he was leaving: "As a famous composer once said, I'll be Bach!"
This may not be Arnie’s best movie but it is possibly my favorite. It’s also the movie that first had him doing one-liners throughout, which he carried on in many later films.
it's not his best, but it's his best 'turn you brain off at the door' kind of movie and that's why we love it so much
I think this movie epitomizes Arnie just as much as the Terminator.
Arnie's female sidekick is Rae Dawn Chong, daughter of Tommy Chong, who's half of comedy duo Cheech N' Chong. You should check out their movies sometime.
I saw a BTS retrospective of this and she was GUSHING talking about Arnold
Unlimited bullets, no reload, auto-aim, god mode, and sky-high explosions.
I love the 80's.
19:35 - that scene where Arnold suits up became a huge meme after this movie came out. It's been imitated in a thousand games and other movies.
And some loonies thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the suit up scenes in the 2000´s. Still can´t get over it.
Enjoyable Schwarzenegger flick. The climax where he is taking on multiple terrorists like a one-man army is probably the most iconic part of this film. That and also all of his memorable one-liners, anything he says in any movie is pure gold.
Conan the Barbarian (1982) is another 80s Arnold classic.
the two arnnie movies she needs to watch are Kindergarten cop and True Lies
Oh yes the best
One of my favorites. Grab some popcorn, leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the action and trademark Arny humor and one liners.
Affirmative!
Man, that movie is “One Liner and One Man Action” heaven lol. I love it as a kid in the 80’s, and still love it today.
6:33 "That's his catch up line phrase: I'll be back."
The English translation is just "catchphrase".
His catchphrase is "I'll be back".
Yes, people liked it so much in Terminator that he started requesting it in nearly all of his movies and directors were happy to include it because fans love it so much.
The final shootout was shot not on an island but on the Harold Lloyd estate in Beverly Hills. Lloyd was the biggest star in Hollywood 100 years ago, which explains why he owned such a large property.
(If you haven't seen his movies, Safety Last is his best known work, famous for the iconic image of Lloyd hanging from a clock face on the side of a tall building.)
"Remember Sully when I promised to kill you last?....I lied!"
I swear Sully says 'ooh la la' when Arnie drops him.
@@glennbotes8937yes he does
Warriors, come out and playeeyayyyy...
I came up on this! Growing up in the 80's this was what it was all about! Arnold, Bruce, Sly, Dolph and Willis were my heroes when it came down to action movies. And still are the standard.
This movie is great because it knows what it is. Does not try to be "realistic", it just gives you a great time watching a fun movie. (that is perfect for entertainment) First big "Hollywood" movie I ever saw. I was 13 years old when this came out. Too much fun. 😁
18:12 - Bill Paxton, AKA Hudson from Aliens. "Game over man! Game over!"
In reality, guns, especially machine guns, run out of ammo MUCH faster than shown in movies. An M-16 or AK-47, being fired full-auto will run out of ammo in just 3-5 seconds depending on the size of the magazine.
I grew up on these Arny one liners. Totally indicative of the year 1986. Love it Dash...
So many good oneliners, but "I let him go" is my favorite.
I was in my early teens when it came out in theatres in Poland. In my hometown it had its première in a sports/concert hall with a special huge screen put in specially for this, that was twice the size of a movie theater screen. I went to see it three times in the month.
Here are my favourite Arnold movies: Total Recall, Terminator 2, Conan the Destroyer, Conan the Barbarian, True Lies, Last Stand, Eraser, Red Heat, The Expendables series (actually a Stallone thing with Arnold appearances, but I love it), the 6th Day, Twins, Junior, FUBAR, End of Days, Red Sonja, Escape Plan (a remake). And just to see his acting beginning and appreciate the progress he's made - Hercules in New York.
This is SOOOOO much fun !
Two more from this era : Showdown in Little Tokyo - Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV) and Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son who tragically died making The Crow) and Action Jackson - Carl Weathers (Predator) and a very young Sharon Stone.
Well this was a delightful reaction. Commando is 80's action gold.
If there are two things Arnold is good at, it's doing action scenes and making the corniest one-liners sound so badass.
This is my favorite action movie of all time. I know all the lines before they even come out of their mouths. A great cast too with a killer soundtrack! An overlooked classic in Arnie's catalog. You don't mess with John Matrix. Thanks for posting this one Dasha!
I loved the part when Bennett gets electrocuted, and ut just seemed to make him stronger. That was prime b0's action movie over the topness.
You fool Matrix, you just powered him up! ;-)
Love the smack talk and shots to the ribs lol.
Big part of my childhood. Seen this countless times since 5th grade. This type of action falls into a category of its own: Mindless fun
Ahh, the good old action movies of the 80-90's! I was a young adult back then, and it's soo cool watching your reactions, they are similar to mine!
Arnold was asked about the gun ammo capacity in this movie. He said nobody was counting.
Less clothes Arnold has, more bullet proof he becomes. Gotta love 80's shot, over the top action and bad guys. Simple yet incredibly fun film that I watch often. Not best action film but most fun action film. The 80's action films tropes undilluted in one film. Completely self aware and poking itself makes this even better.
I love Arnie films like this where he has legit superhuman strength and no-one bats an eyelid. 😂
Also special mention for the one-liners:
'What happened to Sully?'
'...I let him go. 😑😑😑'
Commando is badass
Gotta love Dasha's reaction. Infinite bad guys and infinite ammunition. Welcome to 80's action movies. 😂
And thirsting over over muscular men, who probably are GODDAMN SEXUAL TYRANNOSAURUS!!!
Oh wait, wrong movie….
My vote for the purest action movie ever. Watched it so many times as a kid.
Legend has it a sequel was to be where he rescues his daughter from a high rise terrorist attack. That movie was reworked into Die Hard.
Except Die Hard was a sequel to a much older Frank Sinatra movie
@wyrmshadow4374 My statement has been confirmed as urban myth by the writers but in the same article they spoke of how Lethal Weapon 4 became Die Hard 3. So things like that do happen, and it passes the sniff test.
Die Hard does work better with an everyman playing the hero, John Matrix would just annihilate the terrorist, couldn't maneuver in an elevator shaft very well either.
@@wyrmshadow4374 Which movie was that?
@@praapje The Detective, 1968.
This was stated in the Netflix documentary about Die Hard. The movies that made us.
@@wyrmshadow4374 I have seen that movie, but I see no relation with Die Hard tbh.
As soon as I saw the title, I was sure you were going to love this one. Absolutely one of my favorite dumb action movies. As you say, the writers are having so much fun piling on the ridiculous action and jokes. Apparently Arnold kills 81 people in this movie.
12:07 "i lied. oh my goodness, i lied." 😆
WOW! Not only is this my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, but I just learned from this video that there's an alternate version of it. 🤯
1.I love the soundtrack!
2.This movie had the original strong, intelligent, resilient women!
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a real life Conan the barbarian, but with class and style.
It was great re-watching it with you!❤💪
Seeing Matrix with all that gear makes me think of a typical FPS game that allows you to carry more than three weapons and how awkward it would be to really carry all the stuff in your inventory.
In my Fallout 4 playthrough, I'm carrying about 30 weapons. (They are mostly for equiping the various Settlers, Provisioners and Guardsmen). But with an added Mod, you can actually see all the weapons being carried on your person. Naturally I don't use such a Mod.
Eraser is another good Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Good mix of action and comedy.
Eraser is often overlooked. It is a really good movie with some food for thought.
Who's da tree trunk?
If you're familiar with Cheech and Chong comedy, the woman that helps Arnold through the movie is Rae Dawn Chong, the daughter of Tommy Chong. She did a few things in the 80s and I think her and her dad did some kind of hippie movie, but that was pretty much it. She's mainly known for this movie.
When I was a little kid, my older brother told me Freddie Mercury played Bennett and I believed him for years.
Bennett was played by Vernon Wells. He also played the main biker in Road Warrior.
He also plays the main villain in Power Rangers: Time Force.
Bennett has become an iconic character too.
"Bennett" was played by Vernon Wells, who played "Wez", the biker with the mohawk from "The Road Warrior".
This is the most Arnie, of all the Arnie films.
The Ultimate 80's action flick.
Sit on sofa, open snacks, remove brain and just enjoy the film.
My favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie would be Conan the barbarian from the year 1982

Now that's a legit good movie. And the soundtrack is a masterpiece! Basil Poledouris FTW
Me and my friends watched this movie on VHS multiple times in the late '80s, it became our No. 1 cult movie. Nice to see the younger generation enjoying it as well.
Please react to “The Last Action Hero” next.
If you like Arnold movies, I know you will absolutely love that, too. 😊
Back in the day you could smoke everywhere
The Leading Lady is Rae Dawn Chong... Her Father is Tommy Chong, of the Iconic 70's Stoner Comedy team of "Cheech and Chong"... They've done a few Movies you might enjoy watching. They laid the Foundation for "Harold and Kumar".
A similar level of 1980's action:
"Raw Deal" (1996) Arnold Schwarzenegger
and for major campy action:
"Tango And Cash" (1989) Kurt Russell AND Sylvester Stallone + Teri Hatcher
Arnold has always been one of my favorite actors. In the Documentary of the life of Arnold I recommend it. Silvestre says that at that time it hurt to make movies where whoever killed more enemies. Many, including myself, thought they were rivals in real life and rather Arnold helped Silvestres in his training sessions. Now Silvestre is also one of my favorite actors
I'm glad this movie picked Dasha up 😊, I'm surprised that she laughed so much and spooshed for the better part of half an hour 😅
"Let off some steam Bennett!" :D One of my all-time favorite action movies :)
Commando is 80s action movie cheese at its cheesiest and we love it for it. fun fact, Die Hard (1988), although based on a novel, was originally written to be a sequel to Commando
Watch RED HEAT, Arnie plays a Russian police officer who chases a Russian gangster to America and has to partner up with an American detective.
Alyssa Milano admitted years later that she had a huge crush on Arnold during the making of this movie.
Great movie. Fyi the movie sequel was turned into Die Hard. Also there is a connection between Commando Predator and Die Hard. The general in Die Hard 2 comes from the same fictional country that the bad guy in this movie comes from and the country is also this country jungles is where Predator happen. You should watch The Running Man (Best Arnold one line movie) a great action movie that was overshadowed because it came out the same time as Predator. Also you should watch Conan The Barbarian , Arnold breakout role. It is an epic movie with epic music.
'Taken' 1980's version
Easily one of my favourite films, alongside Lawrence of Arabia and Citizen Kane.
I love it. It makes even films like Predator seem ponderous. It's like everyone working on Commando only say 'yes' to cool ideas! I think it's around about the time when Armie pushes the pickup down the hill and gets in, with no breaks, that the viewer realises it's madder than a normal action movie.
I love Arnie's one-liners. It's like they're exciting/reassuring teasers of what he's going to do to the baddies.
I love how Arnie and SLy Stallone both created slightly different kinds of action hero. And Bruce in Die Hard, and Van Damme in Hard Target etc. All slightly different vibes. Not to mention things like Swayze in Road House and the true classics like Gibson in Lethal Weapon and Keanu in Point Break etc.
22:19 - this house was used a year before Commando as the shootout scene at Victor Maitland's estate in Beverly Hills Cop
Red Heat is another Arnie 80s action movie if you haven't already seen it. I loved it as a kid, still do. ✌️
Dasha would like that one as Arnold plays a Russian cop (actually a Soviet one since its during the Soviet era in the late 80's). Arnold fights russian mobsters in America alongside Jim Belushi, his American police counterpart.
The actor who plays Bennett is Vernon Wells. He also appears as Wez in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Another fun fact about this film: There's a Russian remake/homage of this one that is nearly a scene for scene remake and actually looks like it's not too bad. It's called День Д (D-Day) and it stars and is directed by Russian actor Mikhail Porechenkov.
I love how Dasha says Arnold's name 😅😊 Commando is awesome.
2:02 You know, Arnold, lifting a whole _log_ like that is supposed to be an exercise in building _teamwork_ skills.
Arnold. "I don't need a team. I can lift the whole log all by myself."
Priviet Dasha. I like this one, yes, some people didn't care for how cheesy it was, but Arnold was himself in it. Rae Dawn Chong is a pretty actor. Nice reaction. To me, this was Alyssa Milano's acting debut. If you noticed, the "green beret" assassin was Arnold's pal in Predator two years later. The nemesis was a wimp. I assume Raw Deal (1986) or Red Sonja (1985) is next? Nice Bill Paxton cameo, another connection to Arnold (The Terminator).
And he played the sleazy car dealer in True Lies.
7:00 the door closes diffrantly on different aircraft. The rule is that it have to be a plug door, effectively, the door open inwards. This is kind of annoying because the door take load of space inboard that could be used for seats.
On modern airliners they have a special kind of door that open inwards just an inch, then contract, then open outwards. Fulfilling the plug door criteria with out taking space inboard.
Open the up to the roof, is really just the L1011 that does.
The guy that played Sully was the same guy that played Charlie the cleaner in John Wick. Also played T-bird in The Crow
You've actually seen Sully before. He survived, goes by Charlie, and cleans up corpses for gold coins. (That is to say, the actor was in the first John Wick)
Yes! This movie is "Action Movie" personified. All action flicks should be compared to this masterpiece. The opening scene is both hilarious and badass (the log on his shoulder).
Edit: Nearly every 80's action movies had the thing you mentioned, infinite bad guys, infinite ammo etc. People back then knew what people wanted and gave it to them.
This is maybe my favorite Schwarzenwgger movie. Just non stop action from rhe very beginning to the end , with some good one liners.
I might actually prefer this over Stallone's Rambo movies. Even though those movies have heart. But for just pure escapism entertainment.
Оооо, классика 80-х с Арнольдом! мне лет 8 было, наверное, когда я его первый раз увидел в далеком 1995м
4:01 "Oh sh#t! They _found_ him! How did they _find_ him?!"
They found him _fast, too._ _They_ must have arrived while Major General Kirby was _there_ and remained in hiding until he _left._
This is what you call a "quintessential " 80s movie. Its so bad its funny and it has the absolute BEST one liners
The big black bald man is someone you might recognize from the movie Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He played Mac in Predator. -OG
18:25 Andy Dufresne: "I'm impressed by the _ingenuity_ this young lady's displaying. I wonder what she could do with a rock hammer."
I’ve heard that there is a movie from Russia called “D-Day” that was heavily inspired by this movie, except that D-Day has more of a focus on comedy.
I love this movie. Best one liners, awesome music, action and ofcourse THE ARNOOLD. 😁
You should totally watch all Arnold one-liners compilation video. They are hilarious!
That was a very good reaction. One of the most well known Arnold movies before terminator
For Arnold movies, I recommend Maggie (2015). It's a dramatic horror movie and the character that Arnold plays is MUCH different than his usual action movie persona. A lot of people didn't like it for exactly that reason, but it's a great showcase for his acting talents.
This is pretty much peak 80s action movie. The hero never having to reload/infinite ammo became a bit of a running joke. It's a very dumb movie, but a very fun one. One of my favourite 'check your brain at the door' action movies.
The "Hollywood Handgun"... never runs out of ammo... until it is dramatically appropriate!
Perfect example of an 80's action movie
The main bad guy in this is Aussie actor Vernon Wells who was also a bad guy in "Inner Space" and in the great Australian action movie "Mad Max 2" (aka " The Road Warrior")
One of my favorite Arnie flix.....At about 15:30 -- I have never seen one of these places in real life, but long before this movie came out, there were rumors about places like this all over the Los Angeles Basin.
Big, dumb, fun, 80s action movies don't come much better then this 😂 Peak Arnie era (Predator came out a few years later) 😄 So happy you liked it Dasha and got what is was - dumb entertaining fun 😄
