@@mmmbetter55 center snare was actually our instructor for my high school (same one he went too, his name is Emmanuel Deleon) I’d say he was around 5’7”, 5’8” mark
kinda fucked up he's stealing and not giving credit. My old tech would use parts from different exercises but he always put who arranged it above his own name, he never passed it off as his own.
your percussion caption head is an idiot for stealing one of the most well known warm ups from one of the most well known drumlines...did he claim it as his own?
@DrmrGuy1979 tieing isnt counting as winning to me. it's tieing. can't say you're the best in the world. you say, "I tied for the best in the world" there's a big difference. i like people who hold world records, that's just me, bd has multiple world records. scv's bomb, drumline wise, i love watching them. but the brass is just boring to me. i'm 100% positive that anyone would rather get 1st place and someone get 2nd, than to both get 1st, because that isn't beating anyone. get my point?
Always wondered about the sticking on the base pattern. Is it Chugada-Chugada Chuck-Chuck-Chuck where the three Chucks are all flams or is the middle chuck just an accent? Some sheet music online says it is only an accent but it sounds like a flam in this video
One of my favorite warm-ups! I decided to try and recreate this on guitar into a full composition. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/02SWQEJGb6w/видео.html
hahaha i know i was like he an instructor??? then why doesnt he know rudiments.. ok its flam accents, cheesitz, flam drags, and Cheese Fives. yes i can play it. with all three rudiments added. some troubles with cheese fives but its ok, still inproving :D
@PKTANGEL ummm what do you mean. its a flam five, leading off of the corresponding hand in the music. I can email it to you if you want i have the music
yeah i know that was when i was a dumbass. And btw i meant where to diddle... Like on flam 5's i didn't know u diddle the flam and then drag it. Thanks though
if you really think about it you can play almost anything if you practice and practice and dont think that you cant play it, i didnt think i could play it either but i know almost the whole thing now just fine with a few acceptions of ticks
No, but flam 5's have cheeses in them. A cheese is a flam with the a diddle on the primary note. A flam five is a hybrid rudiment consisting of a cheese, diddle and tap (played in that order)
Everybody these days playing old Vanguard warmups except for Vanguard smh.
Yeah. They're too busy not "tryin to be cool" and winning drum trophies..
Murray guseck wrote the best warmups ever
@@RickDawg527 Didn't have to try then.
Daniel Martinez #facts
@@RickDawg527 you make it sound like these take so much effort to learn when vanguard has always won drums even before they stopped playing them.
It's almost surreal to pan over from the snare line to the really tall quad line.
Fr
The snare line must have just been really short overall; I know the center two quads and they aren't *that* tall....
And then the teacup 1st bass

That countoff is pretty darn studly. You can only be hotdogging like that when you know the line is going to play well. Nicely done.
I have a drinking game for this exercise.
Take a shot everytime you hear someone playing this in the tent at Dayton
Samuel Wolf drunk
Liver failure
Both cheesy poofs and stick control? Or one of the two?
And take a shot every time you hear Catching Shadows on marimba.
I'd be dead
Gah, I just love that tap off.
yeah! me too!
👌😎🎶😎👌
my favorite tapoff is to martian mambo
same, it just makes me happy to hear it lol
jesus... those stick heights they're... they're... PERFECT!!!!!
I knew I wasnt the only one who was appreciating that
Well now I know who my percussion head steals and renames warmups from.
kinda fucked up he's stealing and not giving credit. My old tech would use parts from different exercises but he always put who arranged it above his own name, he never passed it off as his own.
This is an old standard
My percussion tech steals music too

Holy drum tilt batman
SCV's Tenor line never ceases to amaze me. They are always fucking sick.
Is there anything greater than synchronized percussion? Loved it. Takes me back.
That tap off... it's soooo fucking clean, that sixtuplet... mmmph
MrCandyMan314 😋😋😋😋😋
What is the purple spot at 1:51?
the center snare has soooo much stick in his left hand!
Can we use that tap off for literally everything? So majestic and beautiful
Check, cheese, flam drag, flam 5, then backstick section right?
yeah, then stick control
I miss this SCV for real
😢
The one that doesnt win drum trophies and tries to be cool and hip?
@@RickDawg527 Yup, that’s the one!

the tenor on the end is my tech! im soo amazed! DAYUM!
ANYBODY ELSE CRAVING CHEESE PUFFS? NO JOKE I AM
Dat tap off was very spicy
The only thing about this clip very time is too much camera movement. Wish I could see the snares do the entire exercise. 🍻
does anyone have or know where i can find all variations of this(minus stick control) i can only find the sheet music for variation one
fun sized bass 1
Snack sized
God this is still so much fun to play
What ever happened to tuning like this!!? Most modern tuning like crap nowadays IMHO.
no it's not lol he'll probably win, unlike scv who hasnt won in 20 years...hmmm
@godofpharts Actually none of them went back they're not aged out.
i LOVE the sound of those pearl snares
That transition into basic strokes is so good it gets me every time.
Love the "Fake Flams". one of my favourite warmup vids
I love th 09 line so much
i just love how they transition into the next warmup
@immadude123 the best part is from 0:00- 4:37
the best part is 4:25
I miss that severe tilt.
DCI should start judging corps on the "in the lot" warm ups .. if they did that. SCV wouldn't go so un noticed anymore
This aged well XD
Love that groove at 3:35

@BBOYBUDDY11 there arent any flamtaps in the exercise
Does anyone have sheet music for this?

had no idea scv marched tilt at one point
the best part is......................and 4:23
@EmceeingDrummer's comment: hes making a different account so dont watch
this is so much f un to play
Yeah man this is Mile High for sure, or as it's called now Sports Authority field. Awesome show :)
After all this time this is still the OG stick control. This was the first thing I learned to play before I got involved in the independent game 👌🏽
@thehoaxbuster yeag...especially when you have tis warm up for drumlin with an instructor that played in the SCV. xml :S

Hey thats in denver...
I LIVE IN DENVER! =D
A diddle is a double on one hand.
Mile High!
Tenors sound musical. Snares sound intimidating, like war.
Awww...i miss seeing Leah on top bass.
a decade later and can still play this
The excercise is: check, cheeses, flam drags, flam fives, then alternate check? with back sticks

Why... Why is the tenor line using bass mallets... Just why
Because they’re not bass mallets
So good. Damn.

I have a hard time believing that

really? what instrument? I'm going for bass right now, but started on tenors...

@pfortyseven awesome. One last thing: the sticking for the fives if you would.
Where’s the sheet music for this? Would love to have it all in front of me to play along with.
No, but flam 5's have cheeses in them. A cheese is a flam with the a diddle on the primary note. A flam five is a hybrid rudiment consisting of a cheese, diddle and tap (played in that order)
Drums Along the Rockies in Denver. Mid season.
@LAKings0101 Cool!
well maybe see you in.. April? haha

they play 4 variations. Once with flam accents, once with flam drags, once with flam 5's and then once with backstickings.
@LAKings0101
not quite yet... I'm hoping so :)
What are the variations that they are doing?
flams, Flam cheeses, flam drags, flam fives, and then it goes into the backsticking.
This a great exercise to play a long with
Wish more corps would use the tilt. Looks so good.
Diddles are a doubling a hit (two notes), cheeses are playing a flam with a diddle on the non grace note
lol bass one looks like a munchkin from the wizard of oz
What are all the variations they use in the snare line? Can someone list them in order? I'm trying to learn this cadence.
I frequently have cheesy poops.
