Christmas is two weeks early! Huge congratulations to you guys on an amazing comeback season and we can’t wait to see what crazy things you guys do next season!
Best audio mixing I have EVER heard in any DCI/WGI video. These guys are the best for a reason.

I absolutely LOVE watching these recordings every year. I stream to our TV and CRANK them!! Thanks for posting Paul!! - Rocky Castaldi SCV Brass (1979-1983, 2017)
Now that I've watched it...four?...times, there are so many goodies in here: The tymp passage from 3:48 to 3:56!?! Dude is playing a melody on one drum. Amazing. But don't take my word for it, I'm a tenor drummer...here's my buddy Tom Weiske Jr., who played tymps with BD in '82, "each change was spot on, intonation center of pitch, most impressive!" Or, as us tenors would say it, "What the eff was THAT--Holy Cats!"
Christmas comes early. This is so awesome! We usually have to wait for spring for these, don't we? I believe 2024 was Paul and Sandi's greatest achievement yet--not only winning drums, but winning a caption with the corps in a 6th place position (rarely done before) AND...oh yeah...with the corps functionally folded the year before. Congratulations! --Miguel Lyons-Cavazos (aka Meeker) SCV drumline, 1976-1982 (Original Jonz 1981).
Loved showing the cymbal line and their visuals. Their instructor wrote our cymbal line visuals the year I marched (long time ago) but such a great performance an a cool part of SVCs drumline and battery. Go Cyms!
Was in a high school drum line in the late 80s so can appreciate these young folks who are infinitely more advanced than anything we played. So incredibly tight. Well done all!
Such a cool book for the entire corps. The show grows on me every time I watch it. The cadets bass kick at the end sent me when I watched finals as well.
That was a great morning for the recording ! The temperature was in the 60s ! Obviously, SCV played great. But, they were great all year ! Everything was just that much better in person !!
United in Grief is a great song but I NEVER expected it to translate to drum corps this well. Same with Smells Like Teen Spirit a couple years ago tbh. The arranging chops just keep getting better. Squeaky clean & balanced as usual folks congrats on the Fred
The audio presented here is completely uncompressed - recorded and mastered at 24 bits / 96 kHz. The peak impacts are actually maxed out. Commercial music you hear on Spotify or even CDs is HIGHLY compressed to the top of the dynamic range. This creates a high average volume level at the expense of dynamic range. This recording is as close to what you would hear live standing in front of the ensemble as possible.
Nah. They wouldn’t be able to do what they do and execute as well. I get where you’re coming from in a nostalgia perspective. However, there is a good reason that some methods (like snares on a sling) are a thing of the past.
How is the center snare playing tympani at the same time he’s playing snare 🤯
actual twins
*timpani

It is incredible how much the battery plays during all of this.
This group has become one of those legendary lines they will talk about for years to come!! Writing, execution, feel, it’s all there 😮
I liked Santa Clara Vanguard's show for the simple fact that they looked and sounded great without props.
are you saying corps sound different because they have props?
That front ensemble is insane. This was by far my favorite musical production this year.

friggin STUPID clean
y'all make me so proud
Without a doubt one of the best percussion ensembles this activity has seen - amazing accomplishment and awesome writing!
YOOOOO ive been wating so long for this.
I love that each section is matching their hats and shorts
got to hear those dynasty mallets during a rehearsal and wow do they sound amazing! such a bright and full sound, but soft and round when necessary

Great video! It was an honor to work with you this season.
This is a graduate level master class. Everything else is just drum corps.
Incredible balance and blend throughout, jaw-dropping execution of the stellar front ensemble and battery writing. Congrats to everyone involved!!
Insane!!! CLEAN!! Amazing!!
I have a whole playlist of SCV/Rennick standstills since 2011. Love ALL of them…
Such a cool book for the entire corps. The show grows on me every time I watch it. The cadets bass kick at the end sent me when I watched finals as well.
Those Loyal Drums in the front ensemble are so clean looking though
Another amazing book. Great job to Paul and Sandy the entire JONZ staff and students!

Christmas is two weeks early and our gift was the greatest percussion section to ever exist ❤️ 🥁 JONZ!!!
Unbelievably clean
Hot damn!! That was awesome!!
They need to play this on a satellite so the aliens can see it
SCV Percussion Recording release day is my favorite day of the year.
Early Christmas gift 🎁
JONZ!
9:45 always gets me 🥹
🏆16 time Sanford Champs in the hizzie 🥁 JONZ
6th place for SCV was laughable. So happy for the drums atleast.
@@Lacheddar1990 first year back and a lot of new staff, something like this was bound to happen
Absolutely amazing!
It’s amazing what small budgets can do when there is more passion and all is on the line.
what an incredible marimba opening
Finally, the day has come!
So freaking good!! 😮
Mmmuuusssiiiccc!!!
The most musical Drumline world wide!!!! 🤩
Bad ass 🎉
Sounds great!

Hooooly moly
12:24 2016...?
Nice
Is this a one-take performance? Or do you cherry-pick from multiple takes? Either way, it's damn impressive...
After watching it again, I think it's multiple takes based on not seeing the cameras in shot in reverse angle shots.
Pretty sure they do up to maybe 3 takes and just pick the best overall. Knowing vanguard they probs did this in 2 takes
Multiple takes? At 5:39 and 5:42 center snare has shirt over belly pad and then suddenly doesn't at 5:45. Not complaining, just randomly noticed lol
Unbelievable! Why is it so quiet though 😂

@@usee2020 So does that mean if you turn up the volume you would hear close to what standing in the lot would sound like?
@@Kieran.percussion Pretty much. Put on a good pair of headphones and crank it up through a good amp, and I think you will like what you hear. ;)
JONZ
No dancing, no vocoder garbage, just clean notes.
Lick located at 9:56
the cymbals... who thought that interpretive dance was a good idea
Pit percussion has gotten ridiculous !! I would love to them getting rid of all pit guys and go back to marching percussion only !
But why tho
