@@victorcordon3411 Indeed. I've always thought Pearl has the best mix of voices across the battery. Yamaha's tenors and Dynasty's basses seem to get lost in the mix, Ludwig had/has quality and weight problems, and System Blue just sounds thin and strange. I'll take Pearl every time.
@Sub Bot Holy smokes, how could I forget them? I’ve only heard Mapex live a couple of times and both of those were good college drumlines. What stood out to me was the liveliness of the snares - lots of cut to my ears in very large crowds and loud bands. The ensemble balance was good, from what I can recall, and there are plenty of HD DCI videos where the drums complement the music well in the hands of great musicians. The company has been making drums since, what, about 1989-90 in the drum set market, but they have made huge strides in a short time in the marching world. They’re probably terrific drums, given the number of great lines who play them. Sorry for leaving them out. I just have a lot more experience with the other big names. Bad on me.
@@michaelandcolinspop wow, thanks for the quick reply! I wasn't trying to call you out by the way, just was curious since you seem pretty knowledgeable. I think BK used mapex this season and their drums sounded pretty great if I remember correctly
Oh my god. These tenors are ridiculously amazing. I love how every runthrough of stick control has a new split, each more badass than the previous. Amazing.
Jesus these guys are so good. SVC has the best orchestration, by far, in DCI. When they have those years with the top talent, no one's better. Ever. And this is coming from a longtime Cadets drumline admirer.
I have both the full snare part and full tenor part for Cheesy Poofs. Also, the last iteration of stick control for the tenors is freaking awesome. Vanguard has some of the best tenor parts.
@nickheck at no point is there a single herta in this warm-up. it's more like one hand doing triplets and the other doing 8th notes. tap it out and you will see.
Always wondered about the sticking on the base pattern. Is it Chugada-Chugada Chuck-Chuck-Chuck where the three Chucks are all flams or is the middle chuck just an accent? Some sheet music online says it is only an accent but it sounds like a flam in this video.
@PayneKrunk twirl stick outwards around fulcrum, toss stick upwards/forwards spin, turn head, then shrug your shoulders to the beat and start stick control like a badass
@xxshottycurbxx Can you explain to me how it's moeller technique. I thought moeller was like alot of arm and getting like a flowing stroke but he looks like he's all wrist.
Whoever tuned those snares deserves a raise
Yes yes yes
Whoever tilted them needs a psychiatric evaluation
Traditional grip was made for tilted snares….
@@erraticboss168 yeah have fun with that right hand slice bud
@@Username-.--..-.--..-.--.12310 Don’t waste my time playing this anymore moved on once I finished highschool
Even though that was 10 years ago, somewhere a Pearl rep is smiling at the sound of those snares.
Can't forget those jazzy basses

That snare backstick tap off....

After all these years, I still get chills between 2:40-2:50 wow!
Most badass center snare ever. The stick trick at 2:45.... so awesome haha
the first two seconds i thought my screen was frozen because of how good their attention position was
SCV seriously has some of the best exercises ever...
man, what a throwback. played these so much in hs/college. thanks, algorithm for bringing this back to me lol
I have both the full snare part and full tenor part for Cheesy Poofs.
Also, the last iteration of stick control for the tenors is freaking awesome. Vanguard has some of the best tenor parts.
I love how they took it like 5 beats faster just for the backsticking haha
How did it take 11 years for me to notice the GHOST FLAMS at the end of the backsticking run?!
the tenor runs are so smooth in stick control
that trick that center did during the transition was too badass.
Vanguard has the sweetest warm-ups, they're so dam fun to play as well
My school has the same exact drums, they were the first edition of the carbon ply snares
Damn Snarescience!!!! I used to post there all the time!!!!!!
this guy has manly singles
damn... SCV was amazing this year. This is a great video. The sound quality kicks ass.
2:44 daaaaang!!! center snare is so GANGSTA!!
Cheesy poofs rep with all the backsticking still goes so hard
EVERY TIME i watch this video, i feel like the beginning couple seconds are frozen...
@SyntheticArchetype Omg I keep playing that tap off over and over....WOW, it was SOOO CLEAN AND SMOOTH!!!!!!
look at the tech's beautiful rolling of his feet as he walks by. 1:22 perfect form
2.45 that visual is so smooth! insane eye hand coordination.
the last tenor arounds are so gnarly
i tripped balls in the transition
So thank you to Pearl and Yamaha!!! 😍
I can watch this forever
SCV's transitions between warm ups are god damn sexy as hell.
There's a video of them... At allentown... in '09... Playing that... With this in the background.
4:25 that groove 😙🤌
Yeah, his name's Manny. He marched for Pulse for about 4 or plus years. This year was his last.
those stick tricks are ridiculous
does anyone have the tenor sheet music for this?
Hahaha I guess he was ready for some cheese five action!
@nickheck at no point is there a single herta in this warm-up. it's more like one hand doing triplets and the other doing 8th notes. tap it out and you will see.

@InfernoZX5 i pretty sure that it's (b)RLLRR(b)LR (b)=backstick
@InfernoZX5 yeah, hes definitely not doing two left hand backsticks in a row.
i love the snare captain relax click!
What sticks were the tenors using?
Did center snare to the left march pulse in indoor this past season
i liked hearing blue stars in the very beginning haha
this guy's count offs are nuts
perfect blend of sound, brilliant.
Word. Center snare is a monster.
many of the snare at my school play this. it might be because our percussion director marched scv back in the day
This is amazing, but what if they had cowbells?
I didn't notice till half-way through the video, but 1st bass is tiny!
@PayneKrunk twirl stick outwards around fulcrum, toss stick upwards/forwards spin, turn head, then shrug your shoulders to the beat and start stick control like a badass
Best tuned tenors in dci
Is kind of sad no one really uses pearl anymore
are the basses cheesing too?
theyre chessing so hard man
2:44
@xxshottycurbxx Can you explain to me how it's moeller technique. I thought moeller was like alot of arm and getting like a flowing stroke but he looks like he's all wrist.
@knexems do you know the sticking for the back sticking tap off too?
@squirrelsandhorses nah he doesnt those are just ghosted notes, they look freakin sweet though, check out all the snares they all do it
@falconoilcompany how did "class" come into play?
My headphones can't go any louder :(
dude that visual at 2:44 was so sexy lol
snare second to the right messes up at 2:38? but gets right back in it like a boss
does anybody have the tenor part for stick control?
does anyone know where I can find the music to this fro tenors thanks
anyone know what sticking it is after the left to right hand puhduhduh at 0:32
we all miss the scv pearls
2:43 = the definition of badassery
who else heard that flam 5 at 0:49 ;)
Good ears there bro.
That was me
this video is what made me want to start playing tenors instaed of snare
I totally agree with that opinion! Dynasty has nothing when you hear Pearl drums!!
who was center snare that year?
@mybro47 could i possible get the tenor part from you?
Oh my godd... the tap offfffsss.....
@SnareKidJoel Nice catch on that xD. I would never have noticed man.
Center snare, 2:44 , so freakin col
Holy fuck I thought it was just a picture in the beginning then the snare moved.......
@knexems that's what I was i thinking, but my friends are doing (R)LRR(L)(L)R. It sounds unnatural and unclean they have to struggle to do it.
3:12 uhhh. What the heck
OMFG LOOK AT THOSE CHOPS!!!!!!
I swear scv just isn't the same withobye the tilt thisyea
After a while it just looks like they've just sped the entire video up to 2x. >.<
SCV is the boss!
i lost count of how many times i've watched center snare at 2:50. so siq.
2:43... the reason i play drums.
4:32 throwin' some stank on it
@24XSPARKYX go buy it on tapspace.
This video sounds and looks alittle speed up. the sound is distorted alittle.
They dragged a lot that last rep
Anyone hear a tenor slip out a flam five out at 0:49? Vanguard is boss.
wtf?
how does he do that thing at 4:32
awesome. awesome. awesome. awesome.
@TheMgjp97 its a warmup.
so fucking CLEAN
I got a little chub goin' on
super clean .. well done.
And the same goes with bass drums. You can hear every note off each bass drum! Where as dynasty drums are too muddled
@BLAZE9857 wtf, i put 2:44 and it goes to 2:48....
2 people have to "warmup" to this warmup ;}
love how you can hear the blue stars in the beginning
i transcribed the tenors to this if anyone wants it.
