    Clapton has a natural ability to flow intuitively with just about any song. Something that I think earns him a place on the all time greatest guitarists list.

      No way. Clapton is grossly overrated. Give me Beck, Page, Taylor, Richards and /or Woods any day over Clapton.

    • @jdtoddjazz
      @jdtoddjazz 4 года назад +9

      You're probably right about that, but he's too much in front when the vocals are going on.

    • @danw5785

      Clapton is throwing off the timing most of the time. Instead of laying back on to the 2, he is phrasing off the 1, which is completely the wrong feel for this music. And then he plays thru the the end of the measure and spills into the next. Clumsy, but then he was never known for being deft or funky. On the other hand, this song doesnt lend itself to constant guitar fills and IDK, something with the drums. Its not fast, but it sounds rushed.

    The Night-Tripper, and Slowhand...
    ...how sublime.
    I'd almost forgotten that being a sideman was what put EC on the map, and he proves here that he can still be an excellent one.
    I watch Dr. John in this, and I have to wonder how much of Leon Russell's stage persona is owed to him.
    (EC playing a 335... How cool is that?)

    • @dlslacrosse05
      @dlslacrosse05 9 лет назад +2

      +tuxguys He played the 335 at the end of the Cream era, on his one off show with the Dirty Mac, and even really early Blind Faith before he went to the Tele. Great tone, about even with the SG, and second to his Les Paul days with John Mayall.
