I first saw Jools on the Tube with Paula Yates all those years ago and didn't even know who he was. It was only when Nigel Planer came on with Young ones crew when they were doing that Spinal Tap type skit and said to Jools you were in that band that played that song and hummed some Squeeze tune, it was funny but Jools shrugged it off as though Nigels character was being childish,(as he was). I immediately gained respect for him for the musician he obviously was, though I can't remember him ever playing on the Tube,I loved Squeeze. Despite his sardonic style, and occasional on air expletive the BBC gave him more opportunities, I'm glad, as he was/is a motorcycle nut. I remember when he rode round the Mississippi Delta area on an old Brit bike, which I will forever remember when he uttered the Immortal line Harley Davidson eh,nice bike................ if your a girl! He visited Fats Domino and played a duet, you could tell as they played Fats had no idea of his talent either, he reeled back and said, MAN..... YOUR GOOOOOOD. Check out Doña Oxford excellent performances, she's the modern queen of boogie woogie
Jools the Legend doesn't get the credit for being so good.
I saw Dr. John at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston decades ago. He had a candelabra on the piano and leaned forward, and his feathered headdress caught on fire. A stage hand ran out and put out the fire. I thought it was an accident at the time. But now, I think it was part of the show.
YeeHa. What a fantastic performance boys. 💥💥💥 R.I.P. Dr J. ✝️
This is just utterly brilliant. And Steve Jordan and Charlie Drayton make it that much better.
I am blessed to have seen the good Doctor live a few times. A one off! RIP Mac

Unbelievable they can be in synch.
Fantastic performance!
Amazing👏👏👏 love both John and Jools❤️❤️
Nice to see him displaying his talents on the other side of the pond.
man i can listen to this kind of stuff indefinitely
boggie woogie blues
Steven Richmond Makes me feel alive! No way to stay downhearted with this lol!
My neighbours must think I have gone loonie as I play one rendition after the other, no matter who is playing.
I love piano, I love BoogieWoogie, a love Dr. John, and this Jools Holland is also great!
Real good music!
If you could be arrested for being "too good" on the piano, both these guys would be in jail. Good God amighty now. These guys can play. Marc.
The Sunday night/Monday morning television show, that constantly had me late for work, on Monday morning!
Can Jools brain keep up with the speed of his fingers? Amazing. Both brilliant.
First chords, Dr. J. God, I love him. Since the 70's, I wish I could have afforded to see him live.
I was lucky enough to see him and his band in NYC at BB King's club.FANTASTIC!
Our own Mr jools Holland, what a pianist, can hold his own with anyone and more, spot on😬👍👌
Whoa. Did not see this gem coming. Quite a clash of genres combined to execute excellence.
Just after the 4 handed up-skip, 2:53 Dr. J raises a single eyebrow... Priceless.

Dr. John was a gracious and humble man...
I agree I could listen to that all day everyday. it's just so strange everytime I listen to a song like that it's like the first time I've ever heard it and my whole soul lights up that's called happy to be alive music:-) :-) :-) :-)
caniican Exactly!
Just the greatest boogie......rest in peace John.
The talent and taste of the boogie is something else
my cousins and I would play this on grandma's piano when we were kids. 4 kids on the bench playing boogie-woogie.
I am one of the lucky people who saw this show the first time it was on television. My heart stopped then and it still does that to me.

so 2 American players can match Axel Xwingenbeger, Joja Wendt, JP Bertrand, and a few hundred others who have mastered boogie woogie. I especially admire Dr John for being humble and not allowing his ego to step on others. He is in the top 5 of this style, with his own southern fried ham fingered cajun touch and soul mixed in with the best. Keep rockin
lars jools is English .....
would explain why so few Americans can play this style, thanks for that correction.....should have known better
Used to love watching Sanborn's show.- This seems like yesterday..........see ya Doctor.
Boogie woogie, the best use of a piano.
No me canso de verlo y disfrutarlo, que maestria y como lo disfrutan, arte en estado puro...!
Bass and drums didn't miss anything either - very tight back-up
Yessiree, gotta love a snug rhythm section like that to lay the foundation.
Marcus Miller and Omar Hakim

I've been a fan of Jools Holland since I can remember!! I LOVE his casual looking style of brilliance! If I could play even a fraction as well I'd be happy!!
RIP Dr. John. Wow, you could play.
Love boogie woogie! My dad ( now 83) used to play it on piano when i was young ( 10).I loved the sound and it needs to be heard nowadays more than ever! 😃😃
You might enjoy listening to Terry Miles and also Brendan Kavanagh (also known as Dr K). They both play Boogie Woogie, sometimes together, and they are terrific musicians. They each have RUclips channels.
@@YvonneWilson312 Thankyou Yvonne, i'll check them out.
Heaven is Rocking now for sure.
Go get em Dr. John. Show heaven how its done!
HS
Unbelievable performance 🎭 👏👏👏👏
C'est un vrai régal à chaque fois de voir ces deux brillants compères. On ne s'en lasse pas
Oui, Monsieur. Ils sont tout a fait magnifique.
What a Great Performance! I was eating my Popeye's Chicken and Red Beans and Rice. I was thinking about Mardi Gras and how the Mayor closed Bourbon Street Down for Phat Tuesday! I was there right before Covid-19 hit, the year before (2020). I was in the mood for some New Orleans Boogie Woogie. My old Friend Jay? was a manager for a National Chain of Nightclubs featuring Dueling Pianists! I saw Jay in Cincinnati Ohio, New Orleans Louisiana (on Bourbon Street) and at The Beach Place Mariott Hotel (Time Share) in Fort Lauderdale Florida! I love the Dueling Pianists! I was dancing while sitting just now.! This was beautiful!
